DECT 6.0: The Panasonic KX-TG6443 uses DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) 6.0 technology, which lets you move freely around your home with long range and clear sound.
Operating in the 1.9 GHz frequency range (1.92 GHz to 1.93 GHz), your phone will not conflict with other wireless devices such as computer routers, wireless keyboards, microwave ovens and other common
household devices.
Telephone Answering System: The KX-TG6443 includes a digital answering system with an 18-minute memory. (See section below for more details on the Answering System.)
Expandable System: This digital cordless phone is expandable, allowing you to register up to 6 handsets to a single base unit. This phone comes with three KX-TGA641T handsets (item # 133TGA641T). The phone can also use the KX-TGA740 handset with a 2.1" display.
Base Unit: The KX-TG6443 base unit features a full keypad and speakerphone, allowing you to make and answer calls from the base unit without the cordless handset. In addition to the charger
for the cordless handset, the base unit has all of the controls for the answering system.
Handset Speakerphone:
The cordless handset can double as a speakerphone for hands-free conversations. You can choose from six volume settings for the speakerphone.
Handset LCD:
The cordless handset features a bright backlit 1.8" LCD screen. The display will show
lots of information, including Caller ID info, battery strength,
Caller List, Phone Book, plus the Feature Menu. You can adjust the
contrast of the LCD from 1-6.
Soft Keys: Located below the LCD screen, three soft keys are provided for selecting functions
displayed directly above the keys. Functions displayed above the keys will
change depending upon the state of use.
Ringer Options: You can select one of three ringer
volume settings for the cordless handset. In
addition, the handset has three ring tones and four ring melodies to choose from.
Headset Jack: The cordless handset has a sub-mini (2.5mm) jack on the side for an optional
headset. Panasonic recommends (headsets) KX-TCA60,
KX-TCA86, KX-TCA92, KX-TCA93, and KX-TCA94.
Caller ID: This unit is compatible with Caller ID services offered by your telephone
company. If you subscribe to Caller ID, the caller's name and phone number will
be displayed and recorded in the handset's Caller List.
Talking Caller ID: When Talking Caller ID is activated, the base unit and handsets can announce the caller's name and phone number received from your service provider or telephone
company. If the caller's information matches a phone number stored in the phonebook, the stored name in the phonebook will be announced.
Call Waiting Caller ID:
If you subscribe to both Call Waiting and Caller ID, when talking on the phone as another call comes in, the
second caller's name and phone number will be displayed.
Ringer ID: You can assign different ring tones for callers stored in your phonebook to help you identify them when they call. When
a call is received from a caller stored in the phonebook, the assigned ring tone sounds after the caller information is displayed.
Call Block: If you subscribe to Caller ID, you can enter the phone numbers (up to 30) from which you do not want to receive calls. You can also block calls without a phone number, including those that
show "Out of Area", "Private Caller", or "Long Distance".
Caller List:
The unit can record information for up to 50 different callers and store this information in the Caller List, including calls you missed. You can call back any number in the caller list.
Once a number is in the Caller List, it can be manually or automatically edited
(to add or remove area codes or prefixes), saved in the Phone Book, or deleted.
Shared Phone Book:
You can store up to 50 names and phone numbers into the shared Phone Book. Any handset registered to the base unit can use the shared phonebook, however only one person can access the shared phonebook
at a time. The directory names are sorted
alphabetically. You can enter names up to 16 characters, and enter phone
numbers up to 32 digits. A pause can be entered in the phone number if required
for dialing. Each pause is stored as one digit, and the pause is approximately
3.5 seconds.
Redial List:
You can review a list of the last five numbers dialed, then call any of those
numbers.
Talking Alarm: You can set one of 2 different alarms (once or daily) at a time for each registered handset. You can choose an alarm sound from 3 tones and 4 melodies, or one of 7
pre-recorded announcements (such as "It's time for dinner", "Happy Birthday", or "It's time for the game").
Silent Mode: You can select a period of time during which the handset will not ring for outside calls. This is useful for time periods when you do not want to be disturbed, such as while sleeping. The
Silent Mode can be set for each handset independently. In the menu, you can turn the Silent Mode on and off, and set the start and end time of the Silent Mode.
Handset Locator: This feature allows you to locate a handset by paging it from the base
unit.
Mute/Hold: This system features both a Mute
key and a Hold feature on the cordless handset and base. If you wish to
temporarily mute the conversation, you can mute the handset so the other party
cannot hear you, but you can still hear the other party. You can put the call on
Hold for up to 10 minutes. After 9 minutes, the handset will sound an alarm
tone, after another minute, the call is disconnected.
Call Transfer/Intercom: Calls can be transferred from the base unit to the handset, or from one handset to another handset.
You can also set-up a 2-way conversation between the base and the handset, or between multiple handsets (intercom).
Conference Calls: You can set up a conference call between the base unit and handset and an outside party. Up to 2 handsets can have a conference call with an outside party.
Clarity Booster:
If you are using the cordless
handset in an area with interference, you can improve the sound quality by
turning on the Clarity Booster feature. During and outside call the Clarity
Booster turns on automatically when needed. You can also turn it on and off
manually as needed. Use of the Clarity
Booster will shorten the battery life.
Battery Information: The phone comes with two "AAA"-sized, HHR-65AAABU rechargeable
Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) batteries for each handset. Ni-MH batteries do not develop the
"memory" effect like many Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cad) rechargeable batteries do. You can also use other brands of rechargeable "AAA" Ni-MH batteries, if desired. (Capacity and charging times may
vary with other brands.) Specifications for the supplied batteries are:
- Initial Charge Time:
7 hours
- Battery Talk Time: approximately 5 hours continuous use (3 hrs with Clarity Booster feature on)
- Battery Standby Time: approximately 11 days
Wall Mounting: The base unit can be wall-mounted
using the supplied bracket. The chargers can also be wall-mounted using the integrated keyhole slots.
Answering System Features
Total Recording Time: The total time for recording is approximately 18 minutes for all messages. A maximum of 64 messages can be recorded. Messages and greetings are stored in flash memory and will not be affected by power failures. All messages are saved until you delete them.
Greetings: You can record your own personal greeting, or choose between 2 pre-recorded messages. One pre-recorded message is used when the answering system is activated, asking
callers to leave a message. The other message is used when the system is set to "Greeting Only" and invites callers to call back.
Message Recording: You can set the maximum length of the
incoming message to 1 minute, 2 minutes, or 3 minutes.
Listening To Messages: You can listen to messages from the base unit or from the handset.
Number of Rings: You can set the number of rings before the answering system answers the call to 2 to 7 rings, or Toll Saver. When set to Toll Saver, the unit will answer on the second ring when there is at least one new message, or on the fourth ring when there are no
new messages. This allows you to save on toll charges when calling to check your messages by hanging up when you hear the third ring, knowing there are no messages.
Call Screening: From the base unit you can listen to incoming messages.
Voice Day/Time Stamp: With each message the unit announces the day and time the message was recorded.
Message Alert: When a new message has been received, the message indicator on the base unit will flash.
Voice Memo: You can use the base unit to leave a voice memo (voice message) for yourself or someone else (maximum 3 minutes). Voice memos can be played back
later with the same operation used to play back answering system messages.
Remote Operation: You can operate the Answering System by calling from any touch-tone phone. The system is protected by a three-digit remote code to prevent
unauthorized access. You can either use the unit's voice prompts or direct commands by pressing keys. You can select voice prompts in English or Spanish. During remote operation, you can perform the following functions:
- Playback all messages
- Playback new messages only
- Repeat or skip message during playback
- Record a new greeting
- Erase currently playing or all messages
- Turn answering system off
Note: If answering system is off, you can turn it on by letting the phone ring 15 times, then enter your
access code.
Voice Mail Service: If you have voice mail service from the telephone company, you can use the KX-TG6443 to access your voice mail messages. You can store the voice mail service phone
number, including your password/access code and the necessary pauses. The phone can also detect when you have new voice mail messages, and display an indication on the cordless handset.
