Bass is plenty good. Mid-range and treble are superbly better! When I ordered these, Crutchfield indicated there could be a fit issue for 2007 Ford F-150 because the depth was 0.06 inches more than original equipment. There was plenty of room to spare. You could even use the speaker baffles sold separately with no problem. However, there are two extra mounting tabs at the ends of these speakers that I had to cut so that it would fit into the existing door speaker mount with the existing four holes and screws. What I would expect from JL audio, Very clean highs, lows that are pretty deep for a 5x7, speakers will not distort with the stock head unit, guess the amp is next!
