They use active noise cancellation to reduce outside sounds such as engine roar and background conversation so you can listen your music at comfortable volume levels, even while riding in a bus or an airplane. Powered by an in-line battery pack, the headphones use tiny microphones to pick up the sounds of your environment. Advanced circuitry then creates a signal to dramatically reduce ambient noise without affecting your music or movie soundtrack. The PXC 300's padded earcups and headband can be worn comfortably for hours on end great for extended trips. The headphones fold together for compact storage and fit into the provided soft belt pouch for convenient travel. Features NoiseGard Noise-cancellation Technology: NoiseGard active noise compensation is based on the principle of canceling out sound in the low frequency range using inverse phase sound. Tiny microphones pick up the ambient noise in your environment, then advanced circuitry mixes this ambient noise in with the audio signal coming through the headphones, but in reverse phase. This reduces unwanted noise by up to 80%, without affecting the music or movie soundtrack you're enjoying. The NoiseGard feature requires two AAA batteries (included) and it can be turned off when not necessary. Diaphragms: The PXC 300's detailed audio reproduction is due to Sennheiser's Duofol diaphragms with with spiral embossing, providing a transparent and lifelike sound. Advanced Circuit Technology (ACT): ACT reduces susceptibility to mobile phone interference due to optimized circuit technology. Listening Comfort: The PXC 300 headphones feature a super-lightweight design with ergonomic headpads for perfect fit and soft ear pads for extended listening comfort. Adjustable Headband: The adjustable headband provides comfortable settings for a wide variety of head sizes. Airline Stereo Audio Adapter: The supplied airline stereo audio adapter allows connection to a variety of aircraft entertainment systems. Travel Case: The headphones fold together for compact storage in the provided case, making them an ideal travel accessory. Even then, only cancelled 65% or so. Not worth the hassle of packing them along. Wires were very thin so would not stand any rushed carelessness such as is often the case with carry-on items. I returned the product. If I was going to try this type of product again, I would get the style that covers full ear like old-fashioned head phones. But- I don't want to be THAT isolated. I was really hoping for the 85% tune-out this product promised with minimum inconvenience. 1 out of 4 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? I have another pair of noise cancelling headphones, but these are much more comfortable and get the job done. I also love that they came with their own case, and are easy to slip into my laptop bag. buy these cans- you won't be disappointed! 5 out of 6 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? I traded up to these from the pcx 250, which suffered from the large number of cellphone users around me. I still get a low volume interference once in a while, but it's pretty ignorable. 3 out of 4 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? They keep that status with these phones. 48 out of 53 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
