About the Garmin Mechanic with ecoRoute™ HD
Ideal for gearheads
Ideal for gearheads
Do you love to tinker with your car in the name of better performance? Are you looking for a convenient way to track how your vehicle responds while you're driving? Garmin's got a great solution in the Mechanic with ecoRoute HD — simply pair this vehicle diagnostic monitor with your Android smartphone or nüvi portable navigator for instant access to important specs that can help you get more from every trip.
Easy to install and use
The Mechanic with ecoRoute HD plugs directly into your car's OBD-II port, usually found below the driver's side dashboard, to access a large amount of real-time info about your vehicle's performance — the same data that professional mechanics use to diagnose problems with your vehicle. The device then relays the information via wireless Bluetooth® connection to your nüvi, which then displays your vehicle's performance on easy-to-follow gauges and charts. The Bluetooth connection with the Mechanic with ecoRoute HD does not affect your nüvi's ability to make or receive calls with your compatible cell phone.
If you have an Android smartphone, you can download the free Garmin Mechanic app (available on Google Play), and enjoy access to the same information on your smartphone via its Bluetooth connection.
Gauges galore
Depending on your vehicle and whether you're running through a nüvi or smartphone, you'll view real-time gauges for RPM, air/fuel mixture, oil pressure, oil temperature, coolant temperature, air flow, fuel flow, air pressure, and more (as made available by manufacturer). You can even customize the gauges to fit your preferences.
Note: Up to eleven gauges are available through your portable navigator. Several others, including oil pressure and temperature, are only available through the Garmin Mechanic smartphone app.
Reduce costly visits to the mechanic
If you've been frustrated by your car's "check engine" light in the past, you'll be glad to know that the Garmin Mechanic gives you clear explanations for what's wrong with your vehicle whenever the light comes on. You can even reset the check engine light through the system, saving you the time and money to have a professional do it.
In addition, the Mechanic with ecoRoute HD monitors intake air temperature, throttle position, emissions, battery charging status, and other vital engine performance parameters. You can keep tabs on your engine engine's performance, so you can make adjustments for peak efficiency or take it in for maintenance when needed.
More accurate data so you can drive smarter
The ecoRoute HD feature also tracks your fuel usage and gas mileage, so you can check out your estimated fuel economy, carbon footprint, and fuel cost for each trip. By measuring your engine's performance and fuel consumption over time, you'll find the areas where you're driving less efficiently along your commute. You can use this data to choose more Earth-friendly routes around town — not only will you help the environment, but you'll save some money as well. You can also use the Mechanic with ecoRoute HD as a trip computer on long treks — it'll give you real-time updates on your journey's progress, including average speed and fuel use.
Note: Your Garmin nüvi navigator must have Bluetooth compatibility to work with the ecoRoute HD.
