Our take on the Sony DMX-DVD

The DMX-DVD BRAVIA DVD Link attaches to the back of compatible Sony BRAVIA® HDTVs for a clean, custom look. This player's side-access design makes loading and ejecting your DVDs especially easy if your BRAVIA TV is installed on a wall. Mount this compact module to your TV using the provided bracket, or slip it into your rack of audio/video gear.

Sony's DVD Link player upconverts DVD video to a resolution that better matches your HDTV — your entire DVD collection will look better than ever. If you're connecting the DVD Link to a compatible BRAVIA TV, you can control both the player and TV using either the DVD Link remote or your TV's remote. For Sony TVs that feature the "Xross Media Bar" menu navigation system, the DVD Link integrates into the on-screen menu automatically — now that's convenient.

Features

Overview: The Sony Bravia DVD Link Module (DMX-DVD) eliminate the hassles of traditional DVD players by easily attaching to the back of your DMeX compatible Bravia HDTV for a clean, uncluttered look. The DMX-DVD is equipped with convenient side access so loading and ejecting your DVD discs is easy. There is also automatic integration into the award-winning Xross Media Bar menu navigation system of your Sony Bravia television which lets you control the DVD Link using your compatible Bravia LCD television's remote control. Additionally, this module upscales your DVDs to near-HD picture quality.

TV Compatibility: The Sony Bravia Input Link is compatible with Sony Bravia televisions which feature the XMB menu or Panel menu system.

Note: The connected Sony Bravia television must have the HDMI Control feature set to On in order for this device to function.

Disc Compatibility: The Sony DMX-DVD will support the playback of the following disc types - DVD-video, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD+R DL, CD-Audio, and CD-R/RW discs.

MP3/JPEG Playback: The DVD player will support MP3 audio tracks and JPEG image files of format conforming to ISO 9660 Level 1/Level 2, or its extended format, Joliet when recorded onto CD-R or CD-RW discs. The unit will also playback back MP3 audio tracks and JPEG image files of format conforming to UDF (Universal Disk Format) when recorded onto DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW discs. The DMX-DVD will recognize up to a total of 200 folders and 300 total tracks. In addition, the unit supports the KODAK Picture CD format.

DVD Upscaling: The DMX-DVD provides HDMI upscaling to 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p to match the resolution capabilities of your Sony Bravia television.

Connectivity: The Sony Bravia DVD Link Module features a single HDMI output and a mini-USB type-B connector. The unit also comes supplied with a 5' HDMI cable and 5' USB cable which connect between the Sony Bravia DVD Link Module and your Sony Bravia LCD television.

DVD Control: The DVD Link Module is operated from your connected Sony Bravia television's menu system using the supplied remote control (RM-YD023) or your compatible Sony television's remote control. An additional DVD Link menu page will be accessible on your compatible television's on-screen menu once the DMX-DVD is connected to your Sony Bravia television. Easy install

Written By Al, Denver on Sunday, November 01, 2009

Great DVD player and easy install. Just two fasteners to the back of my Sony LCD, an HDMI cable, plug in the power supply and insert a DVD ... 3 minutes or less. Out of sight ... no extra shelves, tables, exposed cables, etc., interfaces automatically with the TV and now I've got two Sony remotes that are almost identical (his and hers?).

Sony DMX-DVD

Written By Vincent, NY on Friday, September 11, 2009

great player if tight for space. clean look with no wire runs. mounts right on back
of tv, hidden from view. easy to control with remote but a control button or 2 on
unit would be good
(eject only). great idea.
