Overview: The Sony X Series Walkman features an ultra-bright OLED
touchscreen display along with noise canceling technology for great portable
digital audio/video playback. The X Series Walkman is perfect for surfing the
web, watching videos on the go, or listening to your favorite downloaded music.
Equipped with built-in Wi-Fi, you can connect to the internet and access your
favorite websites including Yahoo!, YouTube, and Slacker Personal Radio. You can
also subscribe to your favorite podcasting sites and receive podcasts straight
to the MP3 player via a Wi-Fi connection. The X Series also features advanced
audio qualities and comes with premium EX noise canceling headphones.
3-inch OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) Screen: The Sony X Series Walkman offers a 3-inch OLED
WQVGA (432 x 240 pixels) color screen for watching videos, viewing pictures, and
surfing the internet. OLED technology has a response time suitable for movie
playback. A wide viewing angle of nearly 180-degrees gives consistent tone and
stable contrast, as well as, a wide range of color reproduction and a high
contrast ratio. You can also adjust the brightness to one of five levels. You
can view video and photos in a vertical or horizontal orientation, as well as in
a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio.
Quick Touch-Screen Navigation: The X Series Walkman offers
touch-screen controls so you can browse through your media library with the
flick of your finger. In addition to simple, one-touch, on-screen navigation,
you can also access your music, videos and photos via button operation. The
benefit of both "touch panel" and "button" operation makes the X series easy to
use while using its different features.
16GB Internal Memory: the Sony X Series Walkman features an integrated
16GB internal flash memory to download your music, video, photo, and podcast

Drag-and-Drop Functionality: You can easily load your music, pictures,
and video onto this player by dragging and dropping them into the video MP3
player from your computer.
Digital Clear Audio: This player is equipped with Digital Clear audio
technologies such as S-Master digital amplifier and a digital noise canceling
function that delivers your audio without distortions or distractions. Premium
EX noise canceling headphones are also included.
The internal microphone embedded in the
headphones picks up the ambient noise. The player generates an antiphase sound
wave against the ambient noise to reduce it. The Noise Canceling function can
reduce the unwanted ambient noise especially in a vehicle such as an airplane,
train, bus, etc., allowing you to enjoy music at a low volume.
Note: The supplied headphones are exclusive to this
player only. If you connect the supplied headphones to another device, the
sound may not play. Also, if you use another set of headphones, the Noise
Canceling function will not work.

Free Slacker Radio: Slacker Radio comes integrated on the X Series
Walkman. Once you register the X Series Walkman MP3 player with Slacker.com, you
can choose up to 3 stations of music. Each station is cached on the device and
can be refreshed using a Wi-Fi connection. Slacker radio offers free
personalized music that uploads to your Walkman player when the player is
connected to a wireless LAN and when you are in a WiFi zone. (Slacker
registration is required after 30 days).
Note: Slacker stations will play for 30 days after you first use
the Slacker application on the player. To continue listening, you need to
create a new, free Slacker account at www.slacker.com/walkman or link an
existing Slacker account with your Walkman player. After 30 days, you will
have a 7 day grace period to link your player to an account. After the grace
period ends, the stations will not be playable until your player is linked
with an account.
Digital FM Tuner: The Sony X Series Walkman features a built-in
digital FM tuner (87.5-108MHz) with 30 FM presets that can be set automatically
or manually.
Audio Settings: The Sony X Series Walkman offers various audio
adjustments; such as a built-in EQ, a digital sound enhancement engine, surround
effects, volume limiter, and digital noise cancelling.
- Equalizer: The Sony X Series Walkman offers a built-in Equalizer
with 7 settings - Heavy, Pop, Jazz, Unique, or Custom 1 and Custom 2. During
Custom mode you can adjust individuual frequency bands (400Hz, 1.0kHz,
2.5kHz, 6.3kHz, 16kHz) from -3 to +3.
- Digital Sound Enhancement Engine: When the "DSEE
(Sound Enhance)" function is activated, it plays back naturally extended
sound that is close to the original sound.
- Virtual Surround: The X Series Walkman offers the following

Clear Bass can be set to any of 4 sound levels, and the 5 frequency

- Dynamic Normalizer:
You can reduce the volume level between songs. With this setting, when
listening to album songs in the shuffle play mode, the volume level
between songs is moderated to minimize the difference in their recording
levels.
- Digital Noise Canceling: Approx. 17dB, equivalent to
approximately 98% reduction of sound energy.
You can select the digital filter
(Bus/Train, Airplane, Office) that is most suitable for reducing the ambient
noise at the location.
- AVLS (Volume Limit): You
can set AVLS (Volume Limit) to limit the maximum volume to prevent auditory
disturbance or distraction. With AVLS (Volume Limit), you can listen to
music at a comfortable volume level.
Date and Time: The Sony X Series Walkman provides a 12/24 hour clock
and date display.
Multiple Language Display: You can choose from the following language
displays - English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese,
Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, or Portuguese.
Screen Off Timer: When there
is no operation for a while, the player turns off the screen after a
predetermined time. You can set the waiting time for turning off the screen to
15 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, 3 min, or 5 min.
Battery Life: The Sony X Series Walkman is equipped with a built-in
rechargeable Li-ion battery. Boasting superior battery life, the X Series Walkman
delivers up to 33 hours of music playback between chargers. You can also watch
up to 9 hours of uninterrupted video on a single charge. In addition the player
provides up to 17 hours of FM radio listening and 5.5 hours of web-browsing. The integrated battery
charges from your computer via a USB connection (full charge: 3 hours, 80%
charge: 1.5 hours).

Upgrading Firmware: You can
update the player's firmware, allowing you to add new features to the player by
installing the latest player's firmware to the player via USB and your computer
from www.sony.com.
Software
Bundled Software: The Sony X Series Walkman comes supplied with a
CD-ROM disc containing Media Manager for Walkman software and Windows Media
Player 11 software.
- Media Manager: Media
Manager for Walkman can transfer music, photos or videos from the computer
to the player and import audio data from CDs. Media Manager for Walkman can
also subscribe to RSS feeds and transfer the music and video files that have
been downloaded from Podcasts. Audio files (AAC) or videos can also be
transferred by drag-and-drop using Windows Explorer as well as Media Manager
for Walkman. Transferable files include: Music (MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV),
Photo (JPEG), Video (MPEG-4 Simple Profile, AVC (H.264/AVC) Baseline
Profile, WMV), Podcast (music, video).
- Windows Media Player 11:
Windows Media Player can import
audio data from CDs and transfer data to the player. When you use copyright
protected WMA audio files and copyright protected WMV video files, use this
software. Transferable files include: Music (MP3, WMA), Video (WMV), Photo
(JPEG).
Note: Media Manager does not
support DRM files.
