Improve your sound by a thousand

Some things are worth indulging in, and the enjoyment of your daily drive is one of them. Install the Mille Series MPX 165.3 PRO 6-1/2" car speakers in your vehicle and you'll experience the very best of what Hertz has to offer: a passionate approach to premium sound.

Innovative design

Hertz thoughtfully integrates a Tetolon fiber dome tweeter flush at the base of the woofer cone, rather than on a post jutting out from the woofer. This concentric design, highly regarded by audiophiles in home speakers, minimizes phase problems for a natural timbre and detailed soundstage. For more impactful lows, each speaker employs a "Boundary Free" rubber surround with its enhanced pressed pulp and cotton fiber cone to move more air with accuracy. Superior damping is also key to the sound of these speakers — minimized resonance reduces distortion for a truer-to-life sound.

The Hertz philosophy

Hertz believes that a good speaker should reveal the emotional power of the music you love. That's a high bar, but with their commitment to using premium components and boundary-pushing design, they're more than up to challenge. Comprised of music lovers, Hertz is committed to optimizing your car's sound system for total audio enjoyment.

Grilles are not included; the factory grilles should be suitable for most applications.

Features

Concentric Coaxial Tweeter: The recessed tweeter is coincidentally mounted with the woofer cone, so sound radiates from the same point for both. This minimizes phase error and improves time alignment.

Aluminum Basket: The aluminum basket is rigid and non-magnetic.

Boundary Free Surround: This technology provides more cone surface area than other speakers of the same size, enabling it to move more air. The surrounds are made of butyl rubber, ensuring thermal and mechanical linearity.

Size Classification Note: Some manufacturers, including Hertz, call this size speaker a 6-1/2". Because it requires a larger cutout than a standard 6-1/2" speaker, Crutchfield has traditionally referred to this size speaker as a 6-3/4". Please enter your vehicle information to confirm fit.

Customer Q&A

Q
Kind regards! I have an ARC Audio X2 450.4 amplifier which has 3 output configurations (4 channels at 4 ohms 85 Watts 4 channels at 2 ohms 125 watts 2 channels at 4 ohms (bridged) 250 watts). My question is which of these configurations is the most suitable and functional for this speaker...? Will 85 watts rms be insufficient for this speaker and would it heat up my amplifier???. Thank you, I look forward to your response!

Hey Carlos, thanks for the question. So with the speakers we are looking at, there is only one possible configuration without bridging the amp, and that will be the 4-ohm at 85W because the Hertz speakers are 4-ohm so that load is managed be the resistance between the speaker and amp. 85w will be a perfect output for them because as long as we are pushing a speaker to at least 70% of its maximum capacity, we are essentially driving the speaker to its intended max, and everything else is just headway.

Q
running alpine kta450 45 watts per channel, is this adequate for these speakers?
randal  Jul 17, 2023
1 answer
A
I would say yes, Randal. You can send the Hertz MPX 165.3 PRO Mille's a maximum of 100-watts RMS, but with the high 92db sensitivity these will sound great on the 45-watts RMS per channel from the Alpine power pack. This also keeps you well in the safe range to avoid damage from overpowering, giving you reliable performance!

Q
Do I have to have an amp to run these speakers? 2022 chevy
hammerhead  Feb 06, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Hammerhead, and thank you for your question. The Hertz MPX 165.3 are efficient enough to run off stereo power, but all speakers will sound better with better power going to them. On another note, some 2022 Chevrolet's are running 2 ohm factory speakers. If your Chevy has a 2 ohm speaker and you replace it with a 4 ohm like these Hertz, you going to lose ballpark a third of your volume.

Q
Is 75W per channel enough for these (for ~90% of maximum performance) or will they be significantly hindered without 100W per channel?
ashot  Mar 13, 2019
1 answer
A
No I think 75 watts of good, clean power should be plenty for those speakers. They have a sensitivity of 92 dB so they are pretty efficient.
