About the PAC RP4-CH11 Wiring Interface

Jon Paul
PAC's RP4-CH11 wiring interface lets you replace the factory radio in select 2005-20 Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Mitsubishi, Ram, and Volkswagen vehicles. You'll retain your factory steering wheel audio controls, your vehicle's entertainment system, and the use of your factory amplifier, if present.

Another plus — the RP4-CH11 interface eliminates the need for the secondary steering wheel control interface (SWI-CAN or SWI-CAN2) that's usually required for these Chrysler-built vehicles, saving you some more cash. Warranty: 1 year.

Important Note: If you have a factory amp in your vehicle, you'll lose the ability to fade from front to rear when you install a new car stereo. (See Details.) See Details for a list of compatible car stereos.

Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this model is compatible with your vehicle.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The RadioPro4 (RP4-CH11) is a radio replacement and SWC (steering wheel control) interface that comes pre-loaded with amplifier retention and SWC software, navigation based output signals, and firmware that retains all of the vehicle's original safety and convenience features when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket head unit.

Functionality: The RP4-CH11 interface allows the replacement of a factory radio in select Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles with MSCAN or LSFT-CAN databus radios. Using this interface will retain factory features such as steering wheel controls (SWC), vehicle entertainment system (VES), and the factory audio amplifier whenever the original radio is removed. The RP4-CH11 also provides data bus driven outputs such as retained accessory power (RAP), vehicle speed sensor (VSS), illumination, reverse trigger, and parking brake.

Note: Does not retain uConnect.

Vehicle Compatibility: The RadioPro4 (RP4-CH11) is compatible with select 2004-up Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Mitsubishi, and Volkswagen vehicles with the CAN-bus system. Compatible vehicles as of 7/13/2016 include:

Amplified & Non-Amplified Factory System Compatible: The RadioPro4 (RP4-CH11) is compatible with both amplified and non-amplified factory systems.

  • Vehicles without a factory amplifier: Connect the aftermarket radio's front & rear speaker wires to the vehicle connector.
  • Vehicles with a factory amplifier: The factory amplifier only accepts two channels of audio input (left/right). Connect the front outputs of the aftermarket radio to the rear inputs of the vehicle connector. This will allow navigation voice prompts and Bluetooth calls to be heard. The rear speaker outputs of the aftermarket radio are not used. Fading is not supported in this application. The factory amplifier's fading is controlled by data communication from the factory radio. Neither the aftermarket radio or the interface have the ability to control the amplifier's fader.

Wiring Connection Chart: Only one of the two provided radio harnesses will be used.

The SWC functions can be easily programmed; see control settings and functions below.  The interface retains programming even if your vehicle's battery is disconnected.

Q
how can a wire up my factory back-up camera to my after market jvc radio? yes the jvc radio said it was compatible for a back-up camera
conner  Mar 09, 2024
1 answer
A
We need to know the specific year, make, model, and radio trim of your vehicle to provide any confirmed information, Conner. You can also use our online Vehicle Guide in the link below to enter those specifics and choose a JVC radio similar to yours to build a cart and see the available installation interfaces and retained features. This PAC RP4-CH11 interface will retain factory features such as steering wheel controls, vehicle entertainment system, and the factory audio amplifier when the original radio is removed but does not support backup camera retention. If you need any help selecting the right interface for your project, do not hesitate to give us a call at 1-800-324-9695 and a live Advisor would be happy to help. https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html

Q
With the harness I have to add front speakers to rear with factory amp would I have to do that to aftermarket amp as well??
b  Feb 25, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings B C. Not sure I fully understand your question here. If you're talking about losing the ability to fade front to rear, you will lose that regardless of you using the factory amp or replace it with an aftermarket amplifier. If this did not answer your question, please contact one of our advisors at 800-324-9695.

Q
I have a JVC KW-M560BT. Where do I plug in the 3.5mm jack on this radio from the PAC unit? The 2 ports on the back of the radio are MIC and AV IN.
dane  Feb 05, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings Dane. Thank you for your question. JVC and Kenwood are two manufactures that do not have a 3.5mm steering wheel control jack on the stereo chassis. Instead they have a blue/yellow wire on the main harness for steering wheel controls. On the PAC wire with the 3.5mm jack is a blue/yellow wire. Connect that wire to the JVC blue/yellow wire, and not use the 3.5mm jack.

Q
Does the pac rp4-ch11 work with cerwin vega headunit cause the options for radios it is not in there?
david  Dec 27, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings David. Thank you for your question. If the Cerwin Vega stereo is for a 12 volt system, this wire adapter will in most part work. What would be undetermined would be the radio controls on your steering wheel this adapter is capable of retaining. Most stereo that have that function that we do carry would work. Some need to use the (OTHER) setting on the SW interface. Because we do not have the Cerwin Vega stereo, you might want to check with PAC on that feature.

Greetings Cash, and thank you for your question. The PAC manual is downloadable free on our website. file://flamenco/imgbasic$/pdf_manuals/541/541RP4CH11.pdf JVC should be set to number 2.

Steering wheel controls not changing alpine ilx-w650 with 2009 dodge Ram 1500. All other features on the radio work and the dodge dash display shows volume up etc when the steering control is pressed. Rp4-ch11 dial is on 1 for alpine. What could be wrong?

If you purchased the PAC interface from Crutchfield, there will be a direct to tech support number on your shipping confirmation email. If you purchased this elsewhere, you can always call PAC as well, they have great support as well. Their number is 727-592-5991 Monday-Friday.

Greetings Michael, and thank you for your question. For a Boss stereo that is compatible with steering wheel controls (not all are), you would set the selector switch to Pioneer/other number 7.

Q
Anyone figure out how to get it to work with an ATOTO F7 XE? My 2011 Jeep Liberty SWC buttons make the little LED in the interface light up, but ATOTO radio isn't seeing the SW buttons being pushed when I try assign them to functions.
roger  Oct 24, 2022
1 answer
A
You are on the right track with the custom programming, Roger. This is a big reason why we cannot guarantee the steering wheel control function with radios we do not carry, but we do have some intel on the Atoto. Hopefully one of these steps can get you up and running. With your Atoto radio set the PAC profile to 7, use the 3.5 jack (wires are also present) and you HAVE you do custom programming in the radio menus like you had attempted. This is done by pressing/holding a function and then pressing the corresponding button on the steering wheel. IF you still are getting the radio to see any buttons you can unplug the 3.5mm jack and test the tip for DC voltage. There should be a resting voltage and it will vary depending on the radio type selected but it should drop slightly when a button is pressed and go back to the resting voltage. This would tell you if the interface is working properly, and the radio just will not read the commands. I hope this helps!

Q
Will this work with an Ssv Mrb3 head unit?
rebekah  Jun 26, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Ryan, and thank you for your question. The PAC RP4-CH11 is a Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler specific wire adapter. Its more specific for a certain vehicle than it is for the stereo. It will connect to the SSV MRB3 stereo, just not retain your vehicles radio controls on your steering wheel if you have those. The MRB3 does not have the steering wheel control feature.

Q
What wire size does the harness use? I may have overlooked it in the details.
brian  Jun 07, 2022
1 answer
A
PAC's interfaces generally use a combination of 18-20 AWG wire depending on the purpose of a given connection. Power/ground and speaker wires are thicker, signal wires are thinner. For any concerns regarding these connections for your particular application, please give our advisors a call at 1-800-324-9695.

I chose this wiring harness because Crutchfield recommended it for the radio I bought from Crutchfield. It happened to be an Alpine iLX-W650. I think if you find the radio in the Crutchfield lineup it will tell you which harness to purchase.

Q
I just installed the Boss BE950WCPA head unit on a 2012 Jeep Gand Cherokee and Iâ??m having issues with gettin audio through the car speakers during phone calls through wireless Apple Car Play. What are the pink wires in this harness for? I donâ??t understand their function and Iâ??m getting the gut feeling that these are the culprit of my problem.
joseph  Jun 12, 2021
1 answer
A
I do not have a label for those wires to know exactly what they do. If I have properly interpreted the location of those pink wires, I think they connect to the CAN bus cables and would only impact the radio's ability to turn on to play any audio. Something else must be causing the issue with hearing the Bluetooth audio in the vehicle. If you purchased your gear from us, we recommend contacting our technical support to troubleshoot the issue. We send their toll free number on the order invoice

how does this connect to a Kenwood Excelon DDX8905S?
john r  Apr 13, 2019

As per installation instructions, they should be the same as any other head unit. If you're trying to do the steering wheel control , that should be a wired connection instead of the plug in. Check the instructions on both your head unit and the peripheral device for the proper connections.
