About the USA Spec iPod® Interface for Honda

Zak Billmeier
You can take it with you. Just because you've got a factory radio in your Honda or Acura, doesn't mean you have to leave your iPod at home, along with the hours and hours of music it contains. Just install USA Spec's iPod interface — it not only allows you to listen to all your favorite tunes through your car's speakers, it even lets you control song and playlist selections right from your radio. And with your iPhone® connected, you can even stream music from popular Internet services like PANDORA®, Livio Radio, iHeartRadio, and more.

And with your iPhone® connected, you can even stream music from popular Internet services like PANDORA®, Livio Radio, iHeartRadio, and more.

Just mount the compact interface box in a hidden location in your vehicle, and connect the adapter cable to your compatible Honda or Acura factory radio. Plug your iPod into the interface — you can control volume, source, song selection, and up to five different play lists right from the radio. It'll even display song info when used with newer vehicles equipped with a satellite-ready factory stereo. And the interface charges most iPods while connected.

You'll get a handy auxiliary input for connecting other sources, such as a satellite radio or another type of MP3 player.

Please enter your vehicle information and check Installation Details to find out if this adapter is compatible with your vehicle. You can also call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 for help.

Compatibility Note: If you have a newer iPod/iPhone device with a Lightning connector, then you will also need Apple's Lightning to 30-pin adapter. Be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this iPod adapter.

    • Song up/down Playlist/disc select, shuffle and random play features all control iPod

  • *Requires Apple Lightning to 30-pin Adapter (472LTN230P, sold separately) or cable (472LT30PAD, sold separately).
  • Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the head unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to wait until a newer software update is available.

Control Modes: The iPod interface adapter features the following control modes:

  • Playlist Mode: You can create up to 6 favorite mobile playlist then use your radio's in-dash CD changer or XM radio controls to access and control your playlists.
  • Direct Mode: Gives you complete control of your iPod while it is connected to the factory radio. Your iPod is not locked out while connected to the radio and you are able to manually access your complete iPod content. The Radio still can adjust song up/down random or shuffle play but you can manually control your iPod and select any playlist, genre or Artist of your choice.
  • Folder Mode: You can access three folders (Playlist, Artist, and Album) on your iPod from your Honda/Acura radio to search for your music.

Note: When using the factory radio's XM controls, the iPod will be controlled through XM preset 1, while your factory XM radio will be controlled through XM preset 2.

App Streaming (in Direct Mode): Direct mode also lets you listen to the sound from your iPhone's downloaded music apps (such as Pandora, iHeart Radio, SiriusXM, etc.) through your factory head unit & speakers. You will continue to control your iPhone's apps & view song/artist information from its touchscreen.

Note: Your iPhone will need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi. You will also need applicable music service accounts.

iPod Text: The USA SPEC PA15-HON2 allows iPod text on all compatible Honda/Acura factory radios that have a satellite button but do not have navigation (factory navigation systems do not support iPod text display using this adapter). Artist name and song title will be displayed on the factory radio.

Auxiliary Input: In addition to the iPod input on the PA15-HON2 there is an auxiliary input (RCA) for use with another source, such as a DVD system, satellite radio, etc. This aux input can be used with or without the iPod connected. To use the auxiliary input on the interface, dip switch #1 is set to the "On" position.

david  Aug 16, 2015
A
This works flawlessly with an iPhone 6, even displaying the music information on the LCD screen. It is not, however, a speaker phone Bluetooth device.Enter an answer to this question.
michael  Aug 16, 2015
A
Yes it is nice and easy to use and sounds good
kenneth  Aug 14, 2015

It will work with iPhone 6, same as it did with the 4,if you buy the adapter cable from Apple. $40-$50, ouch! I had purchased a cheap adapter online which only allowed me to charge it. There are other cables priced in the middle that say they are Apple compatable, but did not try them. No talking on phone integration that I am aware of for either generation iPhone with this device. I did consider using the RCA audio inputs when we changed from iPhone 4 to 6, but then you get no song selection control from the radio.
peter  Aug 14, 2015
A
Yes it does work but must purchase 30pin connector from apple, i think 30 bucks. And no you cant talk on the phone but im enjoying everyday of it.
mohammad  Aug 14, 2015
Q
Will this work with an Android device (such as Samsung Smartphones)? If not, do you have a similar device that will work with Android Smartphones?
william  Jul 28, 2015

A
The iPOD interface has both an iPod connector and RCA connectors. For an Android device you will need to purchase a RCA to 8mm cable separately. I have installed this in 2 Honda Accords and love the product. I used both the iPod cable and Audio In both times.
moshe  Jul 29, 2015
A
This product comes with the 30 pin cord for Apple products. USA SPEC might have the adapter for the android phones.

We purchased an Apple brand adapter at Target for $30 and it works fine. You can also get one at the Apple store for the same price.

I have mine set to shuffle the songs. It's been a while since I installed it, but I think that is a setting on the USA Spec box.

Yes, you can use the shuffle feature.
hugo  Nov 15, 2014

No shuffle. Also - i have a GPS system and it keeps shutting down ever since I installed it. I would return this product but it is so difficult to remove it!
rohit  Nov 14, 2014
A
We use our iPods on road trips and use the shuffle feature. Kind of a pain to install but doable by just about anybody. Good luck!
james  Nov 14, 2014
Q
I have already bought this from you. My 2006 Honda Odyssey has a Rear Seat Entertainment System. In step 8 of the usa-spec manual, it says, wire ACC power with a relay and references Fig 3. I can see an instruction to cut a wire. Do I need to do anything else, like wire the relay ?

Q
will an iphone play through the rca inputs on this device?
robert  Jan 10, 2014
5 answers
A
Yes, I've done it using my iPhone 5's headphone jack since I haven't got around to buying a 30-pin to lightning adapter.
kenneth  Jan 15, 2014
A
I'm not sure if an iPhone will play through the RCA inputs. What I do know is that my iPod is connected directly to the AUX channel on my factory stereo (I think it's actually XM1 on my factory stereo). There is the 16 pin connection for the iPod, so you get great sound (as opposed to the headphone jack). I would imagine the iPhone would play in the same way (the last iPhone I had was a 4S, and it had the same connection). Hope that helps!
todd  Jan 13, 2014
A
Yes it will. I have this device and you simply need to get an RCA to 3.5mm adapter to plug into the RCA ports on the device, and run the 3.5mm to your headphone jack on the iPhone. I've tested this with mine and it works fine. This is probably the way I'll use mine most of the time because even with the 30 pin to lightning adapter I can't get the USA Spec to charge my iPhone 5 anyway so I'll need to run a regular USB charger in the lightning port if my phone is dying.
andrew  Jan 11, 2014
A
Yes. U have to set it to aux
steve m  Jan 11, 2014
A
I've only used an iPod since installing this device. No music on our iPhones. Sorry It was pretty easy to install.
james  Jan 10, 2014
Q
Is this a generic photo and we should specify if we want it with a lightning plug, or do you only have this with the old plug?
bass  Dec 23, 2013
1 answer
A
This particular interface is the older 30-pin style plug. I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone or online chat. They will be able to see if there is a lightning cable version available and discuss other options with you if there is not.

Q
The information I read refers to an Ipod. Will this work the same with an iPhone 4S?
clinton  Dec 23, 2013

A
It will work with your iPhone. You can find out more details about compatibility on the "Details" tab.
