Logitech

Our take on the Logitech® Harmony® 700

Logitech's Harmony 700 makes controlling your home theater system amazingly easy. It has four dedicated activity buttons to keep things simple — even houseguests unfamiliar with your system can operate it with pushbutton ease. A color LCD screen shows icons for your favorite channels, as well as more advanced commands for each of your devices. Straightforward Internet-based setup makes getting started a snap. And the included rechargeable batteries and AC power adapter mean you won't have to fumble around for batteries when you're hustling to turn on the game.

Program your remote easily over the web

Connect your Harmony remote to your computer with the supplied USB cable to get started. Go to the Harmony Remote website and answer a few simple questions about your components and how they're set up. When you're done, the site automatically programs your remote accordingly. Plus, it remembers information about your setup, making it quick and easy to reprogram the remote if you add components down the road.

Intuitive controls

Four dedicated/preset "Activity" buttons offer one-touch control of your system. For example, to play a DVD, just press "Watch a Movie." The 700 instantly evaluates your system, turns on or off the appropriate components, selects the proper settings, and starts the DVD player. The remote's screen can change to show the controls you'll need for each of your devices, and will even show color icons for your favorite TV channels. And should you need it, Harmony's famous "Help" button provides simple, step-by-step on-screen instructions to help you solve any problem quickly and easily.

From the review A review of the Logitech Harmony 700
"Aesthetically, the all-black color, curvy design, and solid feel of the 700 make it seem worth more than you're actually paying for it. And the rubber buttons are also a nice touch, as the hard plastic buttons on our previous remote could sometimes be a little unfriendly."

Remote Control Challenged

Written By Romaine, Florida on Wednesday, March 09, 2011

YIPPEE!! I have a Dish DVR, LG TV and Samsung Home Theater
receiver, with an iPod dock, and BD/DVD. 3 remote controls. It was very easy to
set up and it knows what devices have to be turned on to do certain activities. If
you need to add optional commands (Like Dish on Demand) you do that with
the application you use to sync with the remote. (I had to call the help desk on
this one) AND, if it doesn't do something correctly, you can press "help" and it
will attempt to correct what it is you want it to do. It is really a relief to finally have
a remote that you don't have to choose the device needed to raise the volume
or change the channel. I did need to call Logitech and the customer support
was excellent.

My second universal remote.

Written By Gary, St. Leonard, Md on Friday, April 15, 2011

I had an old Sony universal remote. It worked ok, but would not operate some of
my new equipment, so I was back to 4 remotes again. The Harmony 700 took care
of that through it's ability to sync through the PC after simply identifying the
equipment I wanted to control. The screen allows multiple features for each
piece of equipment where the exact buttons are not present. Well thought out,
and very handy.

Great product

Written By Rajan, East Brunswick, NJ on Friday, February 04, 2011

Many have said it. I will also say it. Harmony is the perfect name for this remote.
Programming the remote was a breeze and took me less than 30 minutes. There is no
learning curve to use the remote. Customizing keys for popular functions makes it further
helpful. The response of the remote is fantastic. I am currently using it to control a HDTV,
Blu Ray player, Audio Receiver and a DVR. The charge on the batteries holds for over 3
to 4 weeks. The included charger is handy though I would have preferred a longer cable
for the adapter. All in all this a great product.

great remote, really powerful

Written By Tim, Denver, CO on Tuesday, February 01, 2011

This remote recognized all of my devices first time programmed - other brand
programmable remotes have NEVER recognized the older DVD player I have and this
one did! Also, the ability to scroll thru control menus for each device is
really powerful - another pet peeve of other remotes is that if you really want
to scroll thru menus you have to whip out the original component remote to get
access - the 700 allows you to scroll thru a number of menu items that means the
original remotes stay tucked away in the drawer. I have been let down so much
by remotes in the past I had given up but a relative had a slightly older model
Logitech, I messed with it and felt confident to try again - very happy with the
Logitech. NOTE, get the higher end ones like this with the screen - the
lower/basic models don't have all the control features as you don't have a menu
screen to scroll thru (I bought this one and a 300i and returned the 300i).
Great bang for the buck with this one as well.

At Last !

Written By Bill, San Diego, CA on Wednesday, August 10, 2011

Finally a device that does what it says it will. It covers every function. I have a Home Theatre System and the remote controls every thing in the system with ease. Everyone can use it, young and old. I have had several remotes that did not work at all, but this one works like a charm. I highly recommend it. I had one question and Crutchfield Techs quickly resolved it. Look no longer! jump on the Harmony 700 Remote Now.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Crutchfield Customer Review

The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order.

We had a Harmony One that the kids broke. The screen stopped working on it, so I picked up the Harmony 700 since it has dedicated buttons for common functions at the top. If this screen goes out, the remote should still be usable. Now that we've had this one, I actually prefer it to the Harmony One because we often bumped the touch screen on that one, and I like the feel of the rubber buttons on the 700 better too.

Upgrade from Harmony 670

Written By Dennis, Camarilllo, CA on Sunday, July 11, 2010

The Harmony 700 embodies several improvements compared to the earlier 670. The rechargeable battery power is great, and the IR output seems to be improved over the 670, which makes it much less critical to pointing, although my 670 may have deteriorated over time. The case is molded black rather than the silver paint on the 670, which began to wear off after a year of use. The button placement is also more logical and the rubber buttons are more tactile. Setup is easy given the complexity of what the unit needs to do, but the canned setup downloads for various components do not always include all the available buttons. For more compelex setups some IR cloning from the original remotes to the Harmony is required. Overall, a very good unit at a moderate price.

First Universal Remote

Written By rctt, Tuscaloosa, AL on Wednesday, January 20, 2010

I was leery about paying what I thought was a lot for a remote but decided that if I could actually get rid of 4 remotes it might be worth it....The remote was extremely easy to program with the USB interface and Logitech's web site. I have really enjoyed being able to control my A/V set-up with one remote that blends all the devices together. I do have to be a little careful with the direction the remote is pointed since all the devices are not extremely close to each other....DirecTV is the one device the remote might pick up accidentally but recovery is extremely easy....Logitech must have anticipated. Only regret is that I didn't buy one with the RF capability. I would have been able to hide the devices....LOL And the customer service by Crutchfield was fantastic...from the initial contact about the product through the call to make sure that I had programmed everything correctly....the customer service and support was excellent.
