Plug in to better picture and sound quality

A growing number of high-performance audio and video components come with a detachable AC power cord. That's a useful feature because it gives you the flexibility to upgrade to a higher-quality cable. It may surprise you, but simply replacing your component's stock power cord with AudioQuest's NRG-2 low-distortion AC power cable can noticeably improve your system's picture and sound quality.

Why power cords make a difference

The AC power that feeds your gear is really the foundation of your system's audio and video performance. Even if you've plugged your components into a power conditioner to clean up the current coming out of your wall, a flimsy stock power cord can act as an antenna for airborne interference that subtly degrades high-resolution audio and video signals.

Advanced materials and construction for lower distortion

The NRG-2's advanced "geometry" features an inner circle of three 19-gauge conductors surrounded by an outer circle of ten 21-gauge conductors in a self-shielding counter-spiral configuration. All conductors are solid long-grain copper. Solid conductors eliminate interaction between wire strands, which is a major source of distortion in an AC power cable.

Make sure it fits your component

The NRG-2 works with most components that come with a detachable two- or three-pole "IEC" power cord. That includes many high-performance A/V receivers, audio separates, DVD players and Blu-ray players, as well as many TVs and most video projectors.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Audioquest NRG-2 Power Cord (IEC-3 Pole) uses solid Long-Grain Copper (LGC) conductors in a Self Shielding Counter-Spiral Hyperlitz geometry. Solid conductors prevent strand interaction, which is the greatest single source of distortion in an audio cable or an AC power cable. The less complicated grain structure and fewer impurities within LGC copper significantly reduce distortion compared to normal high-purity copper. The Counter-Spiral geometry minimizes conductor interaction while maintaining a fixed low-inductance relationship between conductors.

Construction: The Audioquest NRG-2 Power Cord features thirteen solid long-grain copper conductors (Inner Circle: 3 x 19 AWG solid LGC; Outer Circle: 10 x 21 AWG solid LGC) inside a UL CL-3 rated green PVC jacket surrounded by a green, black, and silver flexible nylon braid.

Connectors: The Audioquest NRG-2 Power Cord features a 3-pole IEC connector on one end to plug into your audio/video electronic component and a 3-prong North American AC connector on other end to plug into your AC wall outlet.

Available Lengths: The Audioquest NRG-2 Power Cord is available in a 3', 6', and 10' length.

Q
Would this be suitable to replace the stock power cable on my integrated amplifier (Cambridge Audio CXN80)?

Hi Joe, Sorry, but I really am not familiar with that brand Cambridge. All I know is that I have definitely heard a huge difference in my Denon receiver and surround sound system with this quality power cord product from Audioquest. If it is compatible, buy it!!!

I would think you would be better off purchasing a longer version of the cable. 3' is very limiting.

I replaced the stock power cable on my new Parasound Halo integrated amp and new Marantz cd/sacd player SA8005. Both units have DACs and the change in power cables has cancelled all distortion. Measured harmonic distortion across the entire frequency band is below advertise specs of .005% at half of 160 watts RMS per channel of average listening levels!

It would be better suited to a CD player or DVD player or similar component. For an amplifier, a lower gauge cord(carries more current) would be preferable.

I have three of these cables that I use with my Emotiva Stealth 8 active studio monitors and my SVS PB2000 subwoofer with awesome results. Built quality is top notch but it's the solid cores inside that feeds these amplifiers with massive and clean power. These cables are recommended for amplifier usage and should definitely be better than the stock cable that came with your CXN80.
