Features

Backup Camera: The Boyo VTL17L is a universal backup camera that can be added to almost any vehicle with an aftermarket receiver that features an integrated video monitor and composite video camera input. The Boyo VTL17L includes a backup camera with an integrated license plate mounting bracket, composite video cable, and power/ground harness.

Note: The Boyo VTL17L is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

CMOS Image Sensor & Wide-Angle Lens: The Boyo VTL17L backup camera is equipped with a highly sensitive 1/4" color CMOS image sensor with a total resolution of 720 x 480 pixels. The VTL17L backup camera offers a 170° wide viewing angle.

LEDs: The VTL17L  utilizes LEDs along each side of the camera lens for excellent visibility at night. You can defeat the LEDs by removing the jump cap of the green wires labeled " LED light control".

Mirror or Normal Image: By default, the backup camera will display a "mirror" image. If using the VTL17L as a front camera, remove the jumper cap of the white wires labeled "mirror image" to get a non-mirror (normal) image.

Parking Guidelines: The backup camera provides parking assist lines on the screen of your aftermarket display monitor. These parking lines are there to assist you when backing up into a parking space. There are two vertical lines which help you judge the left and right edges of the parking space and your vehicle. There are also three color-coded (green/yellow/red) horizontal lines that are used to distinguish how close you are getting to the end of the parking spot. If you do not need and want to remove the parking guidelines, then remove the jumper cap of the blue wires labeled "parking lines on/off".

Composite Video Output: The Boyo VTL17L backup camera if fitted with a composite video connector (RCA) which makes it compatible with virtually any in-dash receiver with integrated video monitor and a composite video camera input. The total length of the composite video cable is 20.5'.

Waterproof (IP67): The Boyo VTL17L features a waterproof (IP67) housing to protect it from the elements.

License Plate Mount: The VTL17L features an integrated mounting bracket that is designed to use your vehicle's existing license plate mounting equipment. The integrated bracket is designed to be mounted behind the license plate so that only the camera is visible. Once the camera and bracket are mounted, you can position the camera forward or angle it down. The mounting hole spacing of the license plate bracket is roughly 6.75" to 7" apart.

Note: The Boyo VTL17L is designed to work best on vehicles that have a license plate located at the center and above the rear bumper. If your vehicle has a plate location that is offset to the left side, right side or your plate is located under the bumper then the VTL17L may not provide optimum performance.

I installed on a 2009 Corvette. It works great on that. I have no idea on your vehicle.
kim  May 13, 2017
A
Yes will clear tailgate. You will still be able to see through the camera with tailgate down, unlike tailgate mounted versions.
kane  May 13, 2017

Q
Will this camera turn on automatically when the car is in reverse?

A
if you connect it to the backup light
dale  Apr 24, 2017
A
Only if you connect its power wire to the reverse light positive wire. That way it gets power when you are in reverse and shut off when your in another gear.

I originally purchased a Jensen radio. It took the back up camera approximately 1 minute to engage when I put it in reverse. This was disappointing and frustrating. I contacted Crutchfield and decided to return the radio and purchase a Pioneer. The camera engages immediately when the vehicle is in reverse. It was not an issue with the back up camera but the radio. i would suggest that you ask about the radio before making the purchase..

Yes and the picture is good. Gary

When installed correctly, the backup/reverse light trigger the camera and your receiver to switch to the backup camera mode.
clyde  Apr 24, 2017
A
The camera will come on automatically as long as your reverse lights come on when the vehicle is in reverse, one of wires from the camera needs to be hard wired to the wire feeding the reverse lights circuit!
gilbert  Apr 23, 2017

Yes
chris  Apr 23, 2017

If your radio head has a reverse input that comes from the vehicle harness (if it's an aftermarket radio) and depending on the way you wire the power. On mine, the radio has a reverse in which turns on the monitor, the video feed goes into the dedicated reverse camera in and then I wired the power for the camera from the reverse lights of my 7 pin RV plug. Works great and I LOVE the image from these cameras.

When installed, is the bracket hidden behind the license plate with just the camera visible? This would be ideal.

A
yes you can install behind license plate or in front wont install over a license cover
raymond  Apr 04, 2017
A
That's correct, you install the bracket behind the plate and you only see the camera itself...it's a nice setup
gerald  Apr 04, 2017
A
Yes. That's how I installed it on my vehicle. I actually have a license plate bracket that is kind of thick and the bracket placed the camera perfectly with the bracket mounted behind the plate.
anthony  Apr 04, 2017
A
YES! I installed this camera on two different vehicles and both of which the bracket mounted behind the plate. It even allowed the wire to be hidden easily.
daniel  Apr 03, 2017
A
Yes. Only the camera itself is visible.

Q
I have a Boyo 424 does it wire up to all boyo back up camera's the same ,so can be inter changed easily?
mark  Jan 23, 2017
1 answer
A
The Boyo VTC424 is a wireless rearview camera system that uses a proprietary connection between the included camera and monitor--this Boyo VTL171 uses a composite video connector (RCA) to plug into a monitor with a composite video input. So I'm afraid the two would not be able to work together. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
