Features
Overview: The Roth Audio Alfie Home Entertainment System
features a built-in 2.1-channel amplifier/speaker system, a slot loaded CD/DVD
player, FM/AM tuner, and integrated iPod dock. The Roth Audio Alfie also
features a stereo-minijack auxiliary input and a 3.5mm headphone output. In
addition, the Alfie offers touch sensitive control and comes supplied with an IR
wireless remote control.
LCD Display: The Roth Audio Alfie Home Entertainment System features a
front-panel 3-line, 4.0" x 1.5", LCD display with red text. The LCD display
indicates source, playback mode, track, clock, alarm, and menu information. The
LCD display offers a 3-level brightness control.
2.1 Amplifier/Speaker System: The Roth Audio Alfie's built-in audio
engine uses a 2.1 amplifier and speaker combination, powering out a total of 40
watts, to provide room-filling, high-quality sound (40-20kHz). The Alfie
features two 2.5" full-range drivers powered by 10 watts per channel and one
4.0" woofer power by 20 watts per channel. The Roth Audio Alfie uses a
bass-reflex enclosure for added efficiency and bass response.
Bass & Treble: The Roth Audio Alfie features adjustable bass and
treble control so you can tailor your music to your listening preference.
AM/FM Tuner: The Roth Audio Alfie features a built-in AM/FM tuner
which features 2 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 9 presets in each bank,
giving you a total of 18 FM preset stations and 9 AM preset stations. The AM/FM
tuner features a Talk Mode which which reduces the effect of low frequencies
during a talk radio program.
CD/DVD Player: The Roth Audio Alfie features a slot-fed CD/DVD drive
for playback of DVD-Video, CD-Audio, Video CD, SVCD, CD-R, and CD-RW discs. The
Alfie also supports playback of MP3 audio files recorded on CD-R/RW discs. The
built-in CD/DVD offers parental control for DVD playback. You can select from an
8-level rating system, protected by a 4 digit password.
Note: The unit supports playback of 12cm disc only.
iPod Dock: The Roth Audio Alfie features an integrated, retractable iPod dock
for connection of select Apple iPods. The Alfie supports audio playback,
video output, full-control, and charging of your compatible iPod. You can choose
to control your docked iPod from the Alfie, the supplied remote control, or the
iPod's click-wheel/touch-screen. The Roth Audio Alfie is "Made for iPod/iPhone
compatible" and supports the following iPod/iPhone model functions (Dec. 2009).

Note: The Alfie does not feature iPod text
display. It will however, display the track number and track elapsed
time. Your iPhone must be set to airplane mode. Apple iPod/iPhone
software updates may change functionality results. If you download a
newer software version, you may need to reset the device and your
iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may
need to revert to the older software version or wait until an newer
software update is available.
Video Output: The Roth Audio Alfie is equipped with a composite video,
S-video, and component video connection for playback of your DVD discs on your
connected television. The unit's video outputs will also display on-screen DVD
and CD/MP3 track information on your television. In addition, the unit's
video outputs can be used to output video from compatible iPods to your
television. The Alfie allows you to make the following video output adjustments.
- Aspect Ratio: 4:3 (Normal), or 16:9 (Widescreen)
- View Modes: Fill, Auto Fill, Original, or Pan&Scan
- TV System: NTSC or PAL
- Picture Adjustment: Standard, Bright, or Gentle
Auxiliary Input: The Roth Audio Alfie features a rear-panel stereo
minijack (3.5mm) connector for connecting an external audio source to the unit.
Headphone Output: The Alfie features a rear-panel 3.5mm headphone
output for connecting a pair of headphones for private listening. The unit's
built-in speakers will automatically mute when a set of headphones are
connected.
Touch Sensitive Controls: The Roth Audio Alfie features top-mounted
touch-sensitive keys for basic operation of the unit.
Remote Control: The Alfie comes supplied with a full-function IR wireless remote control.
Some features of the Alfie can only be performed by the remote control.
Digital Clock with Dual Alarms/Sleep Timer: The Alfie features a 12/24
hour digital clock with dual alarms. You can set each alarm's time as well as
which source to wake-up to in the morning. You can choose from AM, FM, CD, or
Beeps. The unit also features a snooze function which temporarily shuts-off the
alarm for 10 minutes before reactivating. In addition, the Alfie features a
Sleep Timer that can be set to 15, 20, 30, 60, or 90 minutes.
Power Supply: The Alfie operates off of standard AC household current
using the supplied detachable 6' AC power cord.
