Overview Details Staff Reviews Customer Reviews Category Info Accessories Our take on the Sound Ordnance B-8PT by Dominic Devito Who needs a powered subwoofer? To produce bass, you need a sub, an enclosure, and an amplifier, and it can be little tricky to match them all up. A powered sub eliminates all the hassle, as the manufacturer designs the enclosure to house the sub and amp together. This all-in-one solution is especially useful in smaller vehicles, where there's no room to mount a separate amp, or in any vehicle where you need every bit of cargo space. Powered subs range from small, flat boxes that fit under your seat to larger boxes that go in your trunk. The Sound Ordnance B-8PT powered subwoofer turns the hard-to-fit spots in your vehicle into potent bass bastions, adding warmth and punch to your favorite music. You can fit this compact low-frequency factory under your car seat or in an out-of-the-way location in the cab of your truck. Preamp- and speaker-level inputs allow convenient connection to just about any system, plus you can tweak the phase control, bass boost, and low-pass crossover for maximum firepower in your vehicle. A wired remote lets you take command of your bass from the driver's seat. The B-8PT's built-in amplifier sends 120 watts RMS to the 8" subwoofer, adding high-impact low notes that'll fortify your music. The Sound Ordnance logo means you'll get more than tremendous value and reliable performance the B-8PT is reinforced with a 3-year warranty so you can add it to your system with confidence. It's just the right amount of bass for me, and I immediately started hearing notes that I'd never heard in my car before. If I turn up the sub, it booms really well - it's not shy! But I like my bass tighter and more focused, so I have the gain set about midway to keep it under control. It's great! The remote control knob lets me turn it down when my sons are in the car, so they don't have to put up with the pounding bass. Written By Blake, Hudson Wi on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 I started with a 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with an all stock sound system. I swapped out the stock speakers for a set of kickers for the front and roll bar. The sound was much better, but still not want a wanted. I then added a JVC head unit whihc was a 100% improvement, but the small speakers needed some help on the lower end. I then added this sub and BINGO! I am right where I want to be. The sub would not fit under any of the seats, so I put it in the back. With the exception of bozooka tubes, there are not too many options out there for a powered sub. It really rounds out the bass great and compliments the rest of my system. The remote knob is a key too. I leave the power setting set at about 80% on the unit, set my equalizer at dynamic on the head unit and then use the knob to bring in or take away the bass as I need it. This is not a BOOM BOOM BOOM sub, so if you 16 and your underwear is showing, go elsewhere. But, if you more sophisticated, this just might be the perfect fit for you. 8 out of 8 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Contrary to some of the reviews I rate this subwoofer as great for needed bass in any application including rap music. Not sure why someone would want sound that "rattles" which sounds like more baffling is needed, but the reproduction is accurate enough for classical, pop, jass, d&b, rock and rap. If what you hear is important to you and your passengers, and you have a stock system, this is an instant upgrade. With only 15amps needed, some truck, SUV and van rear accessory outlets that have higher amperage (the same that can power small fridges, etc) may allow you to connect directly to those accessory ports instead of having to wire all the way to the battery. I did this with mine because the rear accessory supplies 12v at 20 amps fused. 1 out of 1 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? After replacing my head unit and stock paper cone speakers in my jeep, I knew my system was missing something. This woofer was the missing piece. Slides perfectly under the passenger seat with a relatively easy install (had never installed a woofer before) and WOW what a difference this thing makes. My system is complete now and sounds 100x better than stock. This sub won't rattle your ribcage or shake your windows (well maybe) like a 12'' sub, but when you crank this baby up you get some great sound and power for its size. Nice clean, tight bass that fills out the bottom end perfectly. If you want to wake your neighbors up when you come home, look somewhere else. But for those of us who want to add a perfect amount of bass (and sometimes excessive amount of bass) to your bass-shy system, this is the product for you!! Don't hesitate, buy it now! Because of that, I am not sacrificing space at all. I had a professional install it, but in retrospect, I probably could have handled it myself. The sound is exactly what I was looking for. it takes the load off the rest of the speakers without being overbearing. I usually keep the bass knob around 30%, which is just perfect to complement music without drowning it out. And to call the price 'reasonable' is an understatement, especially with Crutchfield throwing in the wiring kit and shipping. 1 out of 1 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? I installed this in my 1999 Ford Ranger XLT Regular Cab behind the driver's seat and it produces the fill that was desperately needed. I was skeptical at first because it is an 8in sub but I will tell you that it sounds better than any other 8in that I have messed with. It requires a very small footprint which makes it perfect for fitting in a cab that has no extra space to give. 2 out of 2 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? I was on back order for nearly two months last time before I got the subwoofer! 1 out of 1 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No
5 out of 5 97 GMC Yukcon Written By 911wrench, Michigan on Sunday, April 10, 2011 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. I needed something small to fit under the seat of my Yukon. This sub combo did the trick. Fits under the passenger front seat great. Has great sound and power. Sounds great from all seating positions. More than enough power to fill the big space the factory speakers were missing. Was this review helpful? Yes | No
5 out of 5 Another 5-star review for the pile. It definitely earns it. Written By Archpope, Orange County, CA on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. This sub fit under the driver's seat of my PT Cruiser perfectly. Yes | No
5 out of 5 Sound Ordnance B-8PT Written By CM, San Antonio, TX on Monday, April 18, 2011 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. Extremely Impressed!! Yes | No
