About the Musical Fidelity V-DAC
Bring your digital music to life
Bring your digital music to life
It may look pretty basic, but don't be fooled: inside the V-DAC's plain sheet-metal exterior lies sophisticated, world-class circuitry that may just change the way you listen to your digital music. This paperback book-sized component lets your computer and audio system make beautiful music together. The V-DAC can accept digital music files from your PC via USB bypassing your computer's built-in sound card for a far more exciting listening experience. You'll hear layers of musical detail previously obscured by the noisy environment inside your PC the warm, natural decay of a guitar chord, or reverberations echoing in a concert hall. On your best recordings, each instrument and vocal will stand out clearly and distinctly in its own separate space, allowing you to follow each one note-for-note.
The V-DAC can breathe new life into your old CD or DVD player, as well. Simply connect it to your player's optical or coaxial digital output to bypass the built-in DAC. You'll hear the added depth, clarity, and focus that the V-DAC brings to your treasured CD collection.
The V-Series difference
Instead of spending big bucks on a fancy-looking exterior, Musical Fidelity chose to put all the money into the V-DAC's insides where it really counts. That means you get the top-notch performance of a component many times its cost for a bargain price.

Features
Overview: The Musical Fidelity V-DAC is an external digital-to-analog convertor operating at 24-bits, 192kHz with true up-sampling. The V-DAC has extremely low noise, very low distortion, wide bandwidth, and outstanding linearity. The V-DAC digital-to-analog convertor will make substantial sonic improvements to almost any CD player, computer, or other digital source. Simply connect the V-DAC between your digital audio device (via optical, coaxial, or USB) and your home stereo receiver (via analog stereo RCA).
24-Bit/192kHz DAC: The Musical Fidelity V-DAC features a built-in 24-bit/192kHz digital-to-analog convertor with up-sampling. The V-DAC provides lower noise, better linearity, a ruler-flat frequency response, excellent stereo separation, ultra-low distortion, and incredibly low jitter compared to most integrated DACs found in today's CD/DVD players, game consoles, computers, and other digital audio sources.
Digital Inputs (optical/coaxial): The Musical Fidelity V-DAC is equipped with a optical and coaxial digital input for connecting your CD player, DVD player, game system, or other digital audio device. The V-DAC's surpasses most digital-to-analog convertors found in your digital audio source device.
USB Port: The Musical Fidelity V-DAC external digital-to-analog convertor features a USB (type-B) port for the connection of your Windows PC or Mac computer, so you can listen to your stored compressed music files with high-quality sound. The V-DAC lets your compressed music files sound like a high-quality CD player.
Note: The V-DAC's USB (type-B) port supports Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, and 7; as well as MAC OS X.
Analog Output: The Musical Fidelity V-DAC is equipped with a gold-plated, stereo RCA output for connecting the device to your home stereo receiver.
LED Indicators: There are 2 LED lights to indicate operating status.
- Blue LED: There is a Blue Power LED indicates the unit is powered on and ready for use.
- Green LED: The Green Status LED indicates the presence of a digital signal.
Power Requirements: The Musical Fidelity V-DAC operates off of standard household current (120V AC, 60Hz) using the supplied AC power adapter (12V DC, 500mA). The external power adapter is separate from the digital-analog-converter to further improve sound quality.
Note: This product has been designed so that it may be left on indefinitely.
