The Wrangler fix

Brandmotion's CRFD-8846 rear-view camera system is a great way to seamlessly integrate a back-up cam into a 2007-up Jeep Wrangler with no in-dash video display. The system includes a replacement rear-view mirror, compatible with wedge-mounts, that features an in-laid back-up display. The camera's 170-degree wide view and visibility for night driving make it a must-have for the hard-drivin' Wrangler owner. Use it for off-road reversing when you need to watch out for stumps and stuff, or if you're a town & country driver, install this cam with optional parking lines on.

Adjustable camera

Brandmotion includes an adjustable neck mount and camera head extension piece so you can mount the camera between the spokes of a wide variety of rear-mounted spare tires, including aftermarket ones. Brandmotion also gives you enough video cable to maneuver around tricky corners and crannies to reach the input on your mirror monitor.

Your new mirror

When you shift into reverse, your new rear-view mirror will show you a 3-1/2" full-color view of what's behind you. It disappears when not in use, giving you a fully functional, sleek rear-view mirror. You'll also find all the wiring harnesses needed for installation, but some wire-splicing may be required, so if this is your first install of this kind, you may want to consider a professional installation.

Note: A rear-view camera provides an additional view when reversing your vehicle. It is intended to be used in conjuction with your rear- and side-view mirrors to give a fuller picture of what's behind you.

Features

Rear-View Mirror/Monitor & Backup Camera Kit: The Brandmotion CRFD-8846 rear-view mirror/monitor & camera system allows you to add a backup aid to your 2007-up Jeep Wrangler. The Brandmotion CRFD-8846 includes a rear-view mirror/monitor and backup camera, along with all the necessary wiring harnesses and mounting hardware.

Note: This rear-view mirror/monitor & camera system is meant as a backup aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

Vehicle Compatibility: The Brandmotion CRFD-8846 rear-view mirror/monitor & camera kit is compatible with 2007-up Jeep Wranglers featuring virtually any factory or aftermarket wheel.

Rear-View Mirror/Monitor: The included rear-view mirror/monitor replaces your Jeep's factory rear-view mirror. This rear-view mirror/monitor features an embedded 3.5" LCD screen on the left-side that provides you with a view from the included backup camera. When you put your vehicle into reverse, the display will automatically turn on. When not in reverse, the screen completely disappears letting you utilize the entire mirror portion. There is also a manual dimming function on the rear-view monitor/mirror. A ball-&-socket mechanism allows you to adjust the angle of the mirror/monitor for better visibility.

Backup Camera w/ Spare Tire Bracket: The backup camera installs behind your Jeep's spare tire on the rear of the vehicle and displays what's behind the vehicle on the included rear-view mirror/monitor. The camera features a CMOS full-color image sensor. The camera also features a waterproof housing and an anti-fog lens. The 170° wide-angle lens provides excellent depth of field, while its 0.5 Lux rating provides a sharp image even in at night. Overall, this camera provides depth of field, wide field of view, and nighttime illumination.

Park Assist Lines: The rear-view camera provides parking assist lines on the screen of the rear-view mirror/monitor. These parking lines are there to assist you when backing up into a parking space. There are two vertical lines which help you judge the left and right edges of the parking space and your vehicle. There are also 4 color-coded horizontal lines that are used to distinguish how close you are getting to the end of the parking spot - Green (Clear), Orange (Getting Close), Yellow (Very Close), and Red (Stop).

Note: You can remove the Park Assist Lines by connecting the camera's two green wires together.

Mounting Options: The rear-view mirror/monitor replaces your vehicle's factory rear-view mirror and simply mounts to the same existing wedge-shape bracket on the windshield. The backup camera features an integrated mounting bracket which allows the camera to mount behind your Jeep's rear-mounted spare tire. The bracket's adjustable neck allows you to swivel the neck up, down, left and right to fit the camera head between the different spoke patterns on varying wheels, designed to work with both factory and aftermarket wheels for Jeep Wrangler. The included short bracket has been designed for factory offset wheels, while the included long extension bracket is designed for wheel with larger offsets and depth.

Wiring Harnesses: The Brandmotion CRFD-8846 rear-view mirror/monitor & camera system comes with three wiring harnesses. The backup camera features an attached 28.5' harness, wile the monitor features a plug-in 6' harness. These two harnesses plug into either end of the included 22" extension cable. In addition to the plug-in connectors, there are two red power wires, two black ground wires, and one green reverse wire that will need to be hardwired. The two red power leads need to be hardwired to +12V switched power in the vehicle, while the two black ground leads can be simply grounded to the vehicle's chassis, and the green reverse lead should be wired to your vehicle's reverse-lamp circuit.

Dimensions: Dimensions for the rear-view mirror/monitor and backup camera.

  • Rear-View Mirror/Monitor: 10.5625" (w) x 2.875" (h) x 1.75" (d)
  • Backup Camera: 0.875" (w) x 0.875" x 1.125" (d)

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Q
Can the camera be setup to constantly display video from the rear camera?

A
You could wire the reverse trigger lead to a source of 12volt switched power (So it's always on when the vehicle is on) but I would research the legality of doing so in your state before wiring it this way.
