About the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay E4
Portable, powerful noise cancelling earbuds
The Beoplay E4 earbuds fit comfortably and provide noise canceling on the go.
Portable, powerful noise cancelling earbuds
To create the Beoplay E4 in-ear noise-canceling headphones, Bang & Olufsen borrowed some key features from a few of their best headphones. These lightweight earbuds use the same powerful hybrid active noise cancellation first found in the Beoplay H9 over-ears. This dual-microphone circuitry is especially effective for suppressing low-frequency noises — like the drone of a plane engine or the hum of an HVAC unit.
For the earpieces, B&O relied on their design research from the Beoplay H5 in-ear headphones. That research included an extensive 3D study of the ear and relentless earbud testing. The result is some of the most comfortable, portable, and attractive noise-canceling headphones that we offer.
Hear fewer distractions and more smooth B&O sound
By minimizing outside noise, you can listen to the Beoplay E4 earbuds at a comfortable, reasonable volume. And it's a real treat. Highs sound detailed and never harsh. Midrange and vocals sound clean, and the bass is tight. You'll notice that tiny holes surround the aluminum earpieces — there's 29 surrounding each. They allow small amounts of air to flow into the enclosures, for a refreshingly spacious sound.
Long battery life and simple controls
The lightweight, pocket-sized battery module offers up to 20 hours of active noise cancellation. You can toggle the noise-canceling circuitry on and off quickly when you need to be aware of your surroundings. When you connect the earbuds to your iPhone, the in-line remote will control your music or answer calls.
Secure, comfortable fit
There are 5 pairs of ear tips included to help you find a comfortable fit — four sizes of silicone tips and a pair of Comply™ memory foam tips. I'm a big fan of Comply foam tips — they're my personal favorite — because they fit snug but feel light and unobtrusive. Plus they create a tight seal that means you get even better noise isolation.

Bang & Olufsen Beoplay E4 reviews
I was searching for high quality noise-cancelling IEMs, and chose newly developed BeoPlay E4s (as opposed to that other well known brand that also begins with the letter "B"). I know the Bang & Olufsen brand from other hifi products, so my expectations were high. I liked the look of the Beoplay E4s, and the promise of a more natural sound. I also liked the fact that they could be used w/o the noise cancelling feature if desired or needed (as when the battery runs down). I have used them for about 3 weeks at this point, including several long air trips. The sound is indeed natural, and I do like the mute button on the device, which allows the user to immediately hear ambient sound --such as announcements during a flight. The sound with noise cancelling on is clear and precise; with noise cancelling off there is some difference, but not unwelcome for some kinds of music. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the fit with the provided tips. I find them too small, and therefore I do not get a good seal to filter out external noise. (I also own Westone IEMs, and I use "comply" tips). I will order some comply tips (series 200) and I expect to have a better fit. As some of the expert reviewers on the web have pointed out, the E4s do not provide a 100% reduction in ambient noise. It is instead a more natural, and less artificial effect. I think this provides for a better listening experience in the long run. I recommend the Beoplay e4s for the reasons I h

Overview: The Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay E4 is an lightweight in-ear headphone with high-performance sound and Active Noise Cancellation. The E4 has a lightweight metal housing with 10.8mm dynamic drivers, and comes with an in-line remote and microphone. When not in use, the E4 can be stored in the included soft cloth pouch.
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC): The E4's next generation Active Noise Cancellation shuts out the ambient noise around you, allowing you to hear only your music or the other end of your phone conversation. The in-line ANC module is 1.25" x 2" x 0.5", and has a on-off switch that allows you to choose when you want to turn off the noise. ANC includes a Transparency Mode which mutes your music and temporarily turns off ANC to let you become aware of your surroundings. Turning off Transparency Mode un-mutes your music and turns ANC back on.
Battery: The ANC feature is powered by a 350 mAh Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery. The battery charges in approximately 2.5 hours via the included USB charging cable. A fully charged battery provides up to 20 hours of Active Noise Cancellation.
Design: The BeoPlay E4 weighs only 1.6 ounces, and is comfortable to wear for hours. The machined metal body has 26 ventilation holes to provide acoustic precision for a clear musical experience. This semi-open design delivers a well-balanced soundstage with accurate highs, a focused middle, and natural bass that isn't over-emphasized. You'll hear your music the way the artists intended it.
Ear Tips: The E4 comes with four pairs (XS, S, M, and L) of silicone rubber ear tips, ensuring you get an airtight fit regardless of the shape or size of your ear. In addition, the E4 includes one pair of Comply memory foam ear tips that enhance the noise cancelling capabilities of the headphones.
Cable: The E4 features a 54" cord that terminates into a right-angled 3.5mm plug. There is an in-line 3-button remote and microphone that is compatible with Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It has limited functionality for Android devices (no volume control). The outer buttons control Volume Up and Volume Down. The center button controls various music playback and phone call commands.
Airline Adapter: Included with the headphones is a dual-plug airline adapter, which allows you to use your headphones with in-flight entertainment systems.
