About the Belkin 3.5mm to Lightning™ Audio Cable

Dave Delamere

An analog adapter for select iPhones®

Looking to plug your newer iPhone into your car or home stereo's aux input jack? Belkin's 3.5mm-to-Lightning audio cable compensates for the iPhone's lack of a headphone jack, allowing you to pass music from your iPhone to your stereo gear with the help of a built-in digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that delivers analog audio from your digital device. The cable is also Apple MFi-certified (Made for iPhone), which means Apple ensured they'll work with iOS devices, even after updates get loaded. They're available in 3- and 6-foot lengths, and Belkin backs them up with a 2-year warranty.

Product Research

Features

Lightning to 3.5mm Audio: Belkin's Lightning to 3.5mm Audio cable makes it possible to connect your iPhone (or other Lightning connector-equipped device) to your car or home stereo's auxiliary input. This 6' cable features a male Lightning connector on one end (your iPhone or iPad), and a male 3.5mm mini-plug for audio output. The Lightning connector is compact enough to work with most iPhone and iPad cases, so there's no need to remove the case to plug in. The Lightning to 3.5mm Audio cable can be used anywhere -- at home, at work, or in the car -- and carries a 2-year limited warranty.

Apple MFi Certified: Belkin's Lightning to 3.5mm Audio cable has been certified by Apple as "Made for iPhone." That means it is designed to connect specifically to iPhone and iPad, and meets Apple specifications. It also assures sustained functionality after you perform iOS updates. It is compatible with the following Apple devices running iOS 10.0.2 or later:

  • iPhone:
    • iPhone 7 / 7 Plus
    • iPhone 8 / 8 Plus
    • iPhone X
Note: Although not listed by Belkin, other Lightning-equipped Apple devices (iPad, iPod touch) will likely work with this cable.

Digital-to-Analog Converter: The Lightning to 3.5mm Audio cable has a built-in D/A converter that bypasses the converter built into the device. It converts the device's digital to analog so it can be amplified and heard through your speakers.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Q
Any chance this will work with the iPhone 6? Connection to a Q5 Pro digital amplifier through the 3.5 jack.

A
No. This fits 'lightning' connections on iPhone 8 and newer. If your phone has a headphone jack there is a different cable for that.
