Make your vintage vehicle more modern

Got a vintage ride with a radio that's showing its age? Enter the RetroRadio M1A receiver. This ingenious radio fits a wide variety of classic cars and trucks, thanks to RetroSound's patented "InfiniMount" adjustable shaft/bracket system. You can even install the RetroRadio M1A chassis remotely with an optional RetroSound extension cable for customizing versatility. Now you can cruise in style and enjoy your music in a whole new way.

Simplicity is key

The RetroRadio M1A looks like an old-fashioned radio, but the vintage push-button styling conceals a thoroughly modern receiver that's made to entertain you. You can enjoy all your favorite AM/FM stations, plus you can plug your smartphone, Dock-and-Play satellite radio, portable music player, or just about any source with a headphone jack into the auxiliary input on the rear of the receiver. The solid built-in amplifier delivers 18 watts RMS per channel, plenty of power for most situations. And new for 2021, the RetroRadio M1A's improved circuit board includes built-in noise suppression, which ensures your sweet music will be crisp and clear.

More power to you

Want to add some serious power to your RetroSound receiver? The Quad4 amplifier delivers 45 watts RMS by four channels to your speakers without taking up a lot of space. The super-compact amp plugs into your radio's harness and, in most cases, can be powered from your fusebox, so you'll save a lot of time and effort on the installation. RetroSound also makes low-profile car speakers that fit into a wide range of older cars and trucks, so you can be sure that your sound system will do justice to your vintage vehicle.

Adapt the M1A to a DIN opening

If your classic car has already been altered to accept a DIN (2" tall) radio, we offer a repair kit to convert your dash opening back to its original splendor!

This radio does not play CDs.

    Shaft-Style Radio

Infinimount Shaft/Bracket System: The Infinimount Shaft/Bracket System allows you to mount the Laguna radio in a variety of classic cars. This is because the shaft-knobs are not mounted to the unit, but instead connect to the unit via a harness so you can space the radio's shaft knobs at various distances (0.3125"-2.1875") from the chassis of the radio, using the supplied side-mount brackets. You can move these brackets forward or backward and move them in any direction. You can even cut, trim, or bend the brackets if needed. This shaft-style radio is a true problem solver for tough to fit applications due to its unique bracket system combined with small mounting size.

Faceplates & Knobs (sold separately): There are multiple vehicle specific faceplates & knobs available for the Laguna. In addition there are universal faceplates which allow you to use the integrated break away tabs to modify all aspects of height & width of the plate, and even drill in your own shaft holes to fit virtually any car.

Note: The RetroSound Laguna does not come with a faceplate or knobs. A universal mounting plate or vehicle specific faceplate and knob set will be needed for installation.

LCD Display: The RetroSound Laguna features an LCD with a digital read-out.The unit's LCD offers an ultra-wide, off-axis viewing angle and is daylight compatible. The LCD will display clock and tuner information. The color illumination of the LCD is white (fixed).

    Built-in Tuner & Aux Input

RDS AM/FM Tuner: The Retrosound head unit features a built-in RDS AM/FM tuner. The unit's tuner features 3 FM bands and 2 AM bands. A total of 30 AM/FM presets can be stored manually or automatically. Select between Local and Distant settings can aid in listening to weak FM radio stations or compensate for stations that have too strong of a signal. This unit's tuner can be set to USA or European tuning.

Aux Input: The universal shaft-style receiver features a 3.5mm auxiliary input connected to the rear chassis by 7" pigtails. The Aux input provides a connection for portable external audio sources such as a MP3 player or  CD player.

    Audio Section

18W x 4Ch Amplifier: The Laguna is equipped with a 18 watts x 4-channel RMS/40 watts x 4-channel Peak amplifier. An improved circuit board with built-in noise suppression delivers great sound. .

Preset EQ + Bass & Treble: The Laguna features the following preset EQ curves (Classic, Pop, Rock, or Off) to customize your music listening. The Off mode activates manual Bass & Treble adjustment.

Balance & Fader Control: The Balance adjustment function allows you to adjust or pan the stereo sound from the left or right; this is helpful to compensate for the position of the driver in relation to the speaker locations. Adjustment range is 0 to 12. The Fader Control allows you to fade the sound from the front pair of speaker to your rear pair of speakers. Adjustment range is 0 to 12.

Turn-On Volume: You can set the Laguna to power-on to the same volume level (0-46) every time, or let it default to the last volume when turned off.

Key Beep: When this function is enabled, every knob turn or button press will output a beep tone.

3.5" X 1.5" I installed it in my 1978 Mercedes 240D along with a plate suggested by Crutchfielf. It looks and sounds good. The instructions were very helpful. The wire connectors they recommend were also very good.

When we measured one, we found the face to be 3.875" wide x 1.125" tall. We often have mounting plates/brackets and knob kits that help it install into classic vehicles when ordered using our online fit guide: https://www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx

Can I install an amp with a sub on this radio? I see it only has 4 speaker wires out.

This radio does not have a subwoofer preamp output which means that a subwoofer system will need to take speaker level inputs to work. We offer a variety of systems that can work and I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to get a personal recommendation
