A modern classic

One thing's for sure — our customers love Infinity's Reference Series speakers. Year after year, car after car, options like these Reference Series REF-3032cfx 3-1/2" car speakers remain a popular choice for replacing factory speakers because of their competitive pricing and superb sound.

Infinity's famous ingredients

The Reference Series polypropylene woofer with its durable hi-roll rubber surround ensures you'll enjoy powerful sound every mile you drive. Its oversized cone moves more air than other speakers of similar size, adding plenty of punch to the speaker's impressive performance. Add to all that, a 1/2" textile balanced dome tweeter for clearer and smoother highs, and you have a sound that's definitively Infinity.

Excellent power-handling

These speakers will really blossom when powered by an external amplifier, but they're also sensitive enough to be a good match for a factory or aftermarket stereo. Plus, Infinity comes up with a safe way to get a little more power out of your system — these 3-ohm speakers combine with the speaker wire in your car so your car stereo sees actual 4-ohm impedance.

Grilles are not included; the factory grilles should be suitable for most applications.

Features

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and an increase in efficiency.

Tweeter: Each speaker has a balanced dome tweeter. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone. Balanced dome tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter.

High-Output Design: The 3Ω voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring, extracting more power from factory (or aftermarket) receivers.

Crossover: The included 270 microfarad capacitors are 1st order high pass crossovers (6 dB/octave); the crossover point is approximately 196 Hz. One capacitor is wired in-line with the positive input of each speaker. For best results, solder speaker wire terminated with quick slides (item number 120FQS10PK, sold separately) to both ends of the capacitor, then insulate the assembly.

Q
Will this speaker work with the Bluetooth as a replacement to the center dash speaker in my 2019 Tundra?
christopher  Jun 08, 2023
1 answer
A
This Infinity Reference REF-3032cfx speaker has been recently discontinued sadly but is a fit for the center speaker location in your 2019 Tundra, Chris. Since the speaker is a passive, this has no effect on your factory Bluetooth connection, so no worries there! The original center dash speaker is a dual voice coil design. You can install a single voice coil speaker like these Infinity Reference REF-3032cfx's (or any other single voice coil replacement) by connecting the positive wire from one voice coil and the negative wire from the other voice coil to the two terminals on your new speaker. Replacing with a standard impedance speaker will result in higher volume levels, even higher with the 3-ohm Infinity. Because of the volume change, you can also consider the Kicker 47KSC3504's in the link below as they will boost the volume on the center channel speaker a little bit less than the Infinitys. I hope this helps! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20647KSC35/Kicker-47KSC3504.html

Q
I installed the speakers without capacitors and tested them out. The speakers seem working fine. What I might be missing if I don't add the capacitors? Would adding capacitors enhance sound quality anyway? Or it's only for safety?
jeevan  May 17, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Jeevan, and thank you for your purchase. Those capacitors are there for a reason. You should be using them. They are basically a filter to block out lower frequencies that the 3.5 inch speaker cant really play. If a full range signal is going thru the speaker wire to these, that full range can damage the speakers. The factory dash speakers in your Camry had a built in capacitor for that same reason.

Q
Do you need to break in after installing speakers?
jingxiang  Dec 21, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Raymond, and thank you for your question. Speakers do have a period where they need to loosen up. After a few hours of running, most will sound better. If you are running a high powered amplifier to your new speakers, I would play them at a lower volume level at least for a few hours.
hogan  Dec 21, 2022 (Staff)
Q
Can anyone clarify what Infinity means when they state "speaker's 3-ohm impedance combines with speaker wire impedance for a 4-ohm load"? Makes no sense. Please advise. Thank You

A
Infinity bills a very high efficient speaker. You don't need that much power to get a full affect of sound through your speakers.Enter an answer to this question.

I definitely would. Rather be safe than sorry, I have them on my truck and I've had them for about a year and a half and they work great

Q
Will these work well with a 55watt amp (55 per channel)? Or would that be too much?
elias  Sep 12, 2020
1 answer
A
That should be fine. I am running them at 50-watts per channel, and speakers will distort a little, depending on the crossover setting; I tend to keep it at 100 Hz, but for mid-bass/high, they will sound great. Unless it's true 55 RMS, your amp. will not always put out 55 watts to all channels, so I would not be too concerned about blowing these speakers. I did not break into my speakers yet, as my I don't play music long or loud enough over time. But if you run these speakers through a well-tuned amp., then the voice coils will shine as Reference over time. :)

can this speaker be used as a marine speaker?
sylvester  Aug 30, 2020

A
The material used in marine speakers may be different. I suggest buying speakers that are specific marine speakers.
michael  Aug 30, 2020

Not sure , but for its size with 40 watts pushing them they're awesome. My brothers boat came with Sony marine speakers

Q
With my expertise in automotive audio that equates to knowing how to turn it on and then off and maybe back on again, I was told that the factory dash speakers on my 2019 Ram 2500 BigHorn are 8ohm but these are 4ohm. It's suggested I add a 4ohm resistor to each speaker will have them sounding "right" . Could someone talk me off the ledge here with layman's terms please? Thank you.

I would check your car mfr.'s spec. for those dash speakers to see if they are a combo speaker and tweeter in-line setup. Mine is, so my tweeters have a "filter" in-line with my door speakers, so that filter cuts off the lower bass to the tweeters. A filter or OHM resistor is needed for these small dash speakers to work, else, they will likely blow from trying to play mid-low bass sounds, and this should come with the speaker already, which mine did. Hope this helps.

Hi Charles I'm just like you. But chat with one of the Great Crutchfield team members and they will be able to help They are all great in answering any questions Chat online or call Sorry I couldn't help
jack  Aug 07, 2020
A
Not an expert by any means myself. Mine was used as an upgrade to a center channel speaker on my F150. Researching produced multiple accounts of the speaker hardly doing anything for improved sound quality and many said they deleted the speaker altogether. I did end up using this speaker as a replacement. That being said, not sure if you are in same situation. Not a hard project. You could simply cut the supplied + speaker harness and solder splice the 4 ohm resistor in line. That way you still have your slip-on spade connection to the speaker. Easier, but not at all professional, would be "rigging" it with butt splices, which I would not suggest or do personally. If unfamiliar with soldering, run a YouTube on it. Very easy if you are set on these speakers. I am really surprised that Crutchfield wouldn't provide this with a "ready harness" option?

Q
Want to install in the dash of a 2020 Ram base 8.4", should I install Bass Blockers as well?
earl  Jun 26, 2020
4 answers
A
Not sure if this helps, but my factory dashboard speakers came with built-in low-frequency blockers, so I did not have to install any. My mids in the doors, and tweeters on the dash get their HP frequency filtered automatically. If your Ram came with original tweeters, could it have blockers already in-line? If not, a bass blocker can only help to protect those tweets from LF damage.
phosy  Jun 29, 2020

I have mine in a 2016 Ram and have never had a problem with them. I've had a stock radio and an aftermarket radio and never had them pop.
dallas  Jun 26, 2020

Did mine some time ago. Did not need bass blockers and haven't experienced any distortion.

Yes, to have distortion free listening!

Q
What are the capacitors used for and how should they be soldered?
matthew  Apr 02, 2020
1 answer
A
Capacitors are used to filter out the bass to whatever speaker you don't need bass to. But they get extremely hot so place them in a area so they won't touch anything. The speakers that you questioned about come with them and the instructions tell you how to do it.

I don't remember 100%, but I either used the included Philips screws or the original factory screws to mount these speakers to my car's dashboard corners just fine.
