Installation Description

Wanted to upgrade my system but also wanted to do the work myself. I started with just a head unit swap out and things just took off from there. Had to swapout the stock door speakers, they just weren't doing the job. Added a 4 channel amp to boost power and then added subs with an amp. Had to pull out all the seats in my crew cab to get the amps and subs in but made the installation way easier.

Q&A Section

Why did you decide to upgrade your A/V system?

Stock system just wasn't doing the job.

What's the first thing you show people about your installation?

The DVD feature on the Jensen Head unit and also the IPOD touchscreen controls via the Jensen media interface.

Why did you choose these products?

It's a tie between vehicle fitment and price. (Free shipping, even to Hawaii.)

What was the most difficult part of the installation?

Cabling after the sun went down and using flashlights to get the job done. (Poor time management on my part.)

What plans, if any, do you have for future upgrades?

More monitors maybe, with a gaming system. Also want to do an air suspension system.

For the lowering kit I used DJM 3" front/4" rear. Here is the link https://djmsuspension.com/product/2004-2014-colorado-canyon-3-inch-4-inch-rear-complete-lowering-kit/ For the door kit I used VDI (Vertical Doors Inc) bolt on kit. Completely bolt on. Did it in a day. Had to modify the fenders using a tin snip and rubber mallet (to roll the lip in flat) but was pretty simple if you read the directions "THOUROUGHLY" first . Here's the link for that. https://verticaldoors.com/products/chevrolet-2004-2007-colorado-vertical-lambo-doors-kit

I have an 04 Colorado. I was thinking about a similar product. Does the extended touchscreen interfere with the 4wd switch and the top vents? Also, how is the screen visibility in the daylight?

Doug, a fold-out display would block part of the vents and the 4wd switch. The vents aren't really a problem and you can close the display when you need to get to the switch. As for the glare, be sure the stereo you choose has multiple angles of adjustment. Another option would be to get a double-sized stereo with a touchscreen display, and not have to worry about a fold-out screen at all. Use our vehicle selector to see all of your options.
