Jonathan T.'s 2006 Pontiac Solstice

Subtle upgrades can make a big difference

pontiac solstice

A Pontiac Solstice is a neat car to begin with, but Lewes, Delaware resident Jonathan T. wanted his 2006 convertible to have a little something extra.

Using the free Crutchfield MasterSheet and the deeply-discounted dash kit included with his Crutchfield purchase, Jonathan installed a Kenwood DDX775BH receiver and a SiriusXM SXV300v1 satellite radio tuner.

Jonathan stuck with the stock Monsoon speakers, which sound a lot better now thanks to the power of the new Kenwood DVD receiver. And, with the SiriusXM tuner, he can enjoy his favorite music, news, and sports wherever his travels take him.

The Kenwood DDX-775 DVD receiver looks great in the Pontiac's dash.

Q&A Section

Why did you decide to upgrade your A/V system?
The factory radio sounded terrible.

What's the first thing you show people about your installation?
How beautifully it fit in the dash — like it was always there.

Why did you choose these products?
Based on my own research and recommendations from my Crutchfield advisor, Dwight.

What was the most challenging aspect of the installation?
Because the Solstice had XM radio with an existing satellite antenna and the trunk lid opens in reverse, I had to find a new location for the new antenna.
