Heads up!Welcome to this article from the Crutchfield archives. Have fun reading it, but be aware that the information may be outdated and links may be broken.
Cambridge Audio's CXN is three components in one. It's a digital preamp, a network player, and a high-quality DAC that makes all your music sound its best. The CXN upsamples every audio signal to 24-bit/384kHz in order to resolve as much detail as possible, and you can use your smartphone or tablet as a controller. Ben from Cambridge Audio tells us more in this video.

Voiceover: Ben from Cambridge Audio held a training session at Crutchfield so we asked him to explain the features of some popular products.
Ben: Part of the new CX series is our CXN which is an up-sampling network music player. So this will connect to your home network, either with a wired or a Wi-Fi connection and once you've got that connection you can play back music from just about anywhere-from UPnP servers such as NAS drive and computers-any music that it sees on the network. From internet radio-Spotify, Connect, AirPlay.
The CXN has got a 4.3" color display which can be used to view album artwork from music that you might be playing over the network, even from internet radio. We've got an acoustically dampened all-metal chassis which minimizes any vibrations which electronic components can be very susceptible to. And on the audio side of things we use our proprietary ATF audio up-sampling system so all audio wherever it comes from it all goes through that ATF audio up-sampling and is up-sampled to 24/384 output.
The CXN is also a digital hub. It's a great DAC in its own right. We use twin Wolfson DACs, so we've got a couple of different digital inputs. We've got S/PDIF and TOSLINK digital inputs as well as full asynchronous USB audio and optional BT-100 Bluetooth.
The CXN uses our very latest network streaming module which is the most powerful one that we've ever made. It allows the CXN to play back all different types of music formats all the way up to 24/192 resolution. And if you've got a Wi-Fi network that is robust enough, the CXN also supports playback of 24/192 over Wi-Fi. The Cambridge Connect app can be used as a full remote control for our network music players, which is available for IOS and Android devices.
