Not made for kingranch f250 you will cut most of the brackets away leaving only 2 screws to secure the radio so you have to drill 2 holes in your radio, to put 4 screws which are needed to hold radio and not slip down. Then unless you like your radio mounted behind the dash face you will need longer screws than the ones you take out 1 and 3/4 inch will work fine, you will not fine threads to match the original so get coarse thread they will work once you get them started also you will need 4 1/2inch spacers about 8 washers to get it to mount flush. Have fun it took 6 times taking the dash face off because no one could tell me what I needed to make it work. Now you know, unplugging all the switches is the worst part on a kingranch none of them unplug the same so be careful not to break them.
Pros: None for the kingranch250
Cons: Doesnt come with everything needed to install in the kingranch edition cheap plastic depending on radio you might have to drill holes I had a Sony and had to drill 2holes to put in the 4screws needed to secure the radio

2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Installed new head unit with dash kit but it was a pain. The directions are lacking clear and thorough instructions. Cutting the tabs off for my particular model of vehicle wasn't fun. Made of a thick plastic and I just didn't have anything good to cut them off very efficiently or cleanly for install. Had to shave off parts of tabs to make dash kit fit that I couldn't cut all the way down. Seemed to bolt directly to head unit and not use the sleeve provided with head unit, bolts seemed slightly short for bolting dash kit to head unit
Pros: It worked
Cons: Directions lack clarity Cutting plastic tabs not used is aweful without proper tools

One size doesn't fit all.
Skip from Manhattan, KS on 6/25/2018
2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Once you get it put together for your application it is a pretty nice mount. That being said, it is a multi-vehicle adaptable mount. The two side pieces take a little bit of work to lock them into place. After that you quite literally (its in the instructions) have to break off pieces of the mount in order for it to fit your application. The pieces are not pre-scored or weakened in any way either, since they all have to be strong enough for whatever vehicle they go to. After that you slide your head unit into it and if you're lucky one screw hole on each side will line up with one of the cross-hatched holes, the rest will all be off by varying degrees. I was able to get it to work and I don't anticipate any issues with it now that it is installed, but I won't every by a multi-vehicle mount ever again. My recommendation is to spend a few more dollars on a mount that is actually designed for your application.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: You have to break it to make it fit. It isn't designed for your vehicle.

Mediocre mounting kit
Scott from Bluff Dale, TX on 6/22/2017
2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Unimpressive - one-size fits all meaning it fits nothing well. Had to cut off all but 4 tabs. Instuctions say cut off tabs which were shaded n the picture. Not all the tabs were shaded well so you're left wondering which way they intended to go. Then fitting the DIN box was nearly impossible once the side panels were in place. Then they said to bend tabs to lock in place. Well if you bend them NOW, the radio won't go in. If you bend them after the radio goes in, you have to guess which ones will lock the radio in place. Lastly, the radio had a front bezel - no one said it had to (or could) pop off to fit this adapter. Figured it out finally.
Pros: one size fits all
Cons: one size fits all - terrible fit and horrible instructions.

Does the job
When I first opened this I thought it was kind of cheap. It does the job though and keeps the radio in place. No vibrations or anything, and doesn't look bad after you put the covers back on your car.
Pros: Easy to install.
Cons: Didn't like that it came with all the mounting options and you have to remove tabs that were not for your specific car. It was easy to do just a hassle.

Universal, needs Modification to fit each vehicle
CeeJay from Utah on 12/10/2015
2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty
This bracket does what it is supposed to do. Once properly installed it's actually quite sturdy. I'm not a fan of plastic everywhere, but it does the job. I had to use a Dremel with a cut-off wheel to remove the superfluous bracket parts that make this more universal, As Per Instructions, so people without certain tools will have to use what they have handy to modify.
Pros: Sturdy enough, does what it needs to do, easy install
Cons: Need cutoff tools to remove superfluous brackets, as per instructions.

It get's the job done if you manage to not break it. That's about the only plus. It's a cheap plastic that doesn't look the best and you have to break off all sorts of pieces to make it compatible with your specific car model.

Worked as described, but kind of pain to remove unwanted tabs. I first scored them with a utility knife at their base, and then bent them over to break them off. Seemed kind of flimsy, but appears to have done the job.
Pros: Worked as it should, fit the space and attachment points on target
Cons: It is somewhat generic, you will need to break off unwanted tabs (in my case many) Seems a bit flimsy, but maybe it is as strong as it needs to be?

American International FMK-542 Dash Kit
D. Kong from Rutherford, TN on 5/13/2015
2007 Ford F-250 Super Duty
At first glance after opening the package, I was skeptical of the overall quality since the unit is somewhat universal and all plastic. The kit requires you to break off plastic tabs that aren't used for your particular application (so triple check the diagram before you commit to breaking). My skepticism was unfounded, the unit is quite sturdy and came with set screws to secure it to the receiver. All in all, this was both easier and sturdier than many of the dash kits I've used in the past.
Pros: Product very sturdy and light weight.
Cons: Not really a con, but you need to make sure you check the correct diagram for your vehicle (provided) before breaking off the unused tabs. There is no going back. Patience is key.

I got what I paid for with this install kit, free. I installed a double din head unit into a ford F350. The kit didn't fit in the dash opening correctly and it was so tight that there was no adjustment allowed to center it in the opening. I had to drill out two of the tab openings on the kit to have enough adjustment to actually get it centered. It would have looked like crap otherwise. This may be an issue with only this application, I don't know.

This adapter made my day! Without it, you simply can't install a new Stereo unit in the Ford Focus! I'll assume that goes for all vehicles. I bought a stereo at a big box store, their site said it would fit my vehicle. BALONEY! I took the unit back for refund because the foot print was WAY OFF! I ordered the SAME stereo with this adapter and it fit right in the dash! Don't bother going anywhere else, Crutchfield's price was actually lower INCLUDING the Dash adapter and wire harness! Don't hesitate to buy from Crutchfield, they've got their act together!

Inadequate Instructions
oliver3 from Canton, MI on 11/24/2013
2007 Ford Focus ZX5
More of the generic mounting tabs must be snapped off than what the instructions indicate. Additionally, the instructions don't give any information at all on fastening to the head unit. We had to remove a trim ring and a metal sleeve from the head unit in order to get the bracket to fit. Crutchfield's 800-number support line was great in helping us figure it out, but pretty much agreed that the instructions for the bracket are inadequate.
Pros: Fits, once you figure out which additional tabs to remove and how to get it onto the head unit. Free with purchase of head unit.
Cons: Grossly inadequate instructions.

randy from dfw, teXAS on 5/27/2013
2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty
the intall kit is kind of a puzzle to put together. the instructions are ok at best. bottom line is it fit. it did not allow the surround that came with my deck to snap into place but it really isnt super noticable. it looks flimsy and you will think it isnt going to look or work very well untill you get it in the truck then it looks and works fine. as for the multitude of tabs on the universal bracket i found using a good set of electricians side cutters (klien wire cutting piliers) was all i needed. the edges left from the tabs are conceled behind the dash piece so cutting them smooth on my application was not nessisary.
Pros: for the price paid it works and looks good once the dash is back in place
Cons: the instructions could be a little more helpful. it is made to cover a dozen different vehicles and decks though so possibly a set of online directions with decent pictures would be helpful

Be careful and you'll be fine.
Chris from Appleton, WI on 4/13/2013
2007 Ford Focus ZX3
This receiver kit fit my receiver and the dash of my 2007 Focus perfectly. You do have to read the instructions carefully and look at your dash where the kit will go before you go cutting off the unneeded mounting tabs. The tabs are a bit tough to cut. I used a wire cutter but a roto-tool might be in order as my wife says I have freakishly strong hands. Be a bit careful as it's just made of "regular" plastic, not Glock plastic.
Pros: Holds receiver solidly. Very clean and flush in final install.
Cons: I hesitate to put any cons here as the product does its job and "improvements" might just increase the price.

Cheap and flimsy
Crutchfield customer from Palatka, Fl on 3/2/2013

I don't know why I was expecting more out of "univerisal kit". The instructions are very vague at best. It tells you what tabs to cut off, which leaves nice sharp objects. After it tells you what tabs it doesn't tell you anything on how it will work on your head unit. I was installing the JVC KW-HDR81BT unit and after about 15 min I finally figured it out. I just wish the finish you do see was better than the flat black.
Pros: It was free from Crutchfield
Cons: Quality, instructions, fit...etc

Cheap, basic, universal bracket
Dan from Santa Clarita, CA on 1/2/2013
2006 Ford Focus ZX4
It's ok. It's a cheap, plastic, universal bracket. I had to remove 8 plastic clips and the long piece across the opening to make it compatible for double-din installation in my car. To make it look decent, I then used a dremel to round the sharp edges left from the long piece. Not hard, but not super quick or convenient.
Pros: Cheap, which lets Crutchfield supply it for "free." It did work.
Cons: Looks pretty cheap. Is compatible with a multitude of different cars, so it requires a lot of modification to make it work with your specific model.

It Fit Both the JVC Receiver and the Ford Focus
Biker Jeff from Benton City, WA on 12/9/2012
2007 Ford Focus ZX4
Crutchfield included this mounting kit free with the purchase of the JVC KW-HDR720 receiver. Yes there were lots of not quite conspicuously marked in the instructions ears to break off of it to make it work. I used plastic model cement to glue the sides onto the face plate. That made installing on the receiver a lot easer because I had to try three different combinations of fitment to get it right. Because of its width, a rotary file on the cordless drill was also required to relieve some plastic from inside of the Ford Focus dash hole.
Pros: It works and looks as good as the factory install.
Cons: None really. Gluing the sides onto the faceplate made fitting to the receiver a lot easier, but they don't tell you that.

Mounting kit FMK542 does not fit the JVC-KWR900BT
Terry from Lenoir City, TN on 10/28/2012
2006 Ford F-350
The FMK542 mounting kit fits the Ford Truck but it DOES NOT fit the JVC- KWR900BT Radio/CD unit. The Spacer/faceplate of the mounting kit will not fit over JVC-KWR900BT as the hole the radio goes in isn't wide enough and there is no way to modify it to fit. So make sure you get a different mounting kit if you buy the JVC unit which works great.
Pros: None. It will not fit the JVC-KWR900BT and cannot be modified to do so
Cons: It will not fit the JVC-KWR900BT and cannot be modified to do so

"universal" Ford install kit
TRhone from Bellingha, WA on 10/22/2012
2006 Ford Focus ZX3
"Universal" almost always means "modification needed" for a perfect fit. I expected this however, this kit didn't require much for installing a 2-din JVC media player in my friend's Focus ZX3. Yes we had to cut out the middle bar out since our unit was a 2-Din unit and yes we also had to remove a few of the MANY mounting tabs on the sides and we also only use 4 of the 8 screws for mounting the unit to the dash kit (use of the other screws would make it bind up on the factory mounting tabs) but it was otherwise smooth sailing and the end results look nearly OEM.
Pros: Fit well (once modified), good fit-'n-finish once installed, easy to follow instructions
Cons: will need to be modified - not ready-to-go right out of the package, may require the use of cutting tools

Does the trick, but flimsy
JeffH from Mahomet, IL on 7/15/2012
First off let me say that the fact Crutchfield gives this away instead of charging for it is awesome! You'll need this to install your stereo and the fact that it's free is fantastic. That's why I feel bad giving it a mediocre review - after all, it is FREE! The unit is designed to work with dozens (hundreds?) of different vehicles, so you have to modify it to work with yours. As you can see in the photo, there are lots of "ears" on the sides of the housing for mounting screws in different vehicles. Well, in my van, I only needed 4 of these and had to break off all the others. Wasn't difficult to do with pliers and cutters, but you had to keep fitting it in the vehicle to make sure you weren't accidently cutting off the ones you needed to keep. Also, the unit comes in 3 pieces (front, left, right) and they all fit together with hinges in the corner. But you have to hold the unit together or else it falls into 3 pieces again.
Pros: Free unit that you'll need to do your install. It does the job and looks great once in place.
Cons: Flimsy and the user has to do lots of customization to fit in your particular vehicle

Low Quality, Generic, Poor finish
BC from St. Pete Beach, FL on 6/28/2012
This is a one-kit-fits-many Ford vehicles. The fact that it is so generic makes it junk. It has like 10 tabs and most vehicles need 2 tabs so you have to cut off the other 6-8 tabs you don't need leaving jagged, broken remnants--granted this is not seen once the install is done. The sides don't securely mount to the front trim plate--they just hang there with a tab in a slot (without even snapping in) and count on screwing to your receiver to support the whole thing. The screws supplied aren't long enough, are the wrong threads and the screw holes didn't line up with my receiver (Kenwood DNX6990HD). The outside trim ring plastic is a rough sandpaper texture like from a 1982 stereo. Most newer vehicles have smooth-finish electronics and dash panels. I understand it's cheaper to manufacture and inventory a one-kit-fits-many item, but I would gladly have paid more for a quality kit, made for my exact vehicle that did not require me to customize it to make it work and matched the texture and finish of my factory dash. I'm using it now but will be searching for a better kit to replace it with soon. I've been a Crutchfield customer for over 22 years and they are AWESOME, but sorry guys, this particular item is a very bad pick...
Pros: None.
Cons: Generic-must customize it to fit your vehicle, rough-textured finish doesn't match vehicle interior, Low quality--sides don't securely attach to front, screws not long enough, screws have wrong threads

This kit provided by crutchfield for free with my order made the radio look professionally installed. The instructions tell you have to trip the plastic to fit your specific radio/model car. After installation, you can't tell that the car was made for any other radio. I installed this trim around my Clarion CX501 double din radio into my ford focus 2005.
Pros: Very please with the look. Fits great.
Cons: the screws on the side strip easily and require some care to not overtighten!
