Looks good in the car and all, but the original radio had 4 bolts holding it in place (1998 saturn SL1), 2 on top and 2 on the sides. This dash kit only has the 2 bolts on the side, making a weaker hold to the car. Sure it works, but I'm worried it will break eventually. I guess time will tell...
Pros: Blends in nice Shelf
Cons: Weak bond to to car Shelf has no grip, very shallow and slippery Have to smooth out after removing plastic inserts

Looks beautiful note, however it was a pain in the you know what to get the radio in this thing. I had to sand down the plastic all over, and had to force the metal chasey into the slot... from what I saw online it should not have been that difficult.
Pros: -Held the radio like glue. -Cubby hole to hold things.
Cons: -Very hard to get metal chasey in. -Cubby is very slick, no grip or friction.

Perfect fit
Russ K from New Jersey on 12/5/2015
Not really a surprise (based on my Crutchfield experience over 20 years), but this was a perfect fit for the car. My daughter went out of her way to say it looked like the new unit/dash kit came with the car.
Pros: Easy to install, perfect fit
Cons: Took a bit of work to cut out the plastic for DIN (vs. 2-knob radio) mount dimensions, but not really a big deal

Fits well, though expect the top of the pocket near the top in the middle to slightly bow downward because the defrost/fog light switch cluster just above it has to push down on it slightly. Also, use a hacksaw blade without a handle (just hold in your hand) to shave the adapter and pocket bracket arms out of the middle of the DIN area. Need these points to be flush and smooth to fit the receiver cage into it. You'll also have to do the finish detail work on the pocket bracket arms that install into the adapter to anchor at the top, because the plastic molding process isn't good in this area and leaves material that shouldn't be there in order to snap the brackets into place correctly so they line up with the bolt holes.
Pros: End-fit after all is said and done.
Cons: Fact that we have to do the finish and detail work to get the plastic molding the way it should have been from the factory. Extra labor and time.

Fits the big hole from the factory radio/equalizer just fine for a new single size Alpine. Crutchfield knew the one send.
Pros: Looks great, holds radio well. Reasonably easy to install. Purchased as part of Crutchfield package, which is the way to go. They sent me stuff I didn't know I would need.
Cons: Had to break out the Dremel to expand the opening for the radio to accommodate the Alpine package. Tedious but not a big deal. Figuring out how to fit plastic parts required some guesswork, but that could be my denseness.

Fits well after considerable modifications
JohnDeere from Waterloo, Iowa on 2/23/2014
1998 Saturn SL1
First, only one mounting hole lined up, so i drilled a new hole. Secondly, there are two mounts on the corners of the heater control that will keep the bottom of the mounting kit pushed out, they need to be trimmed back. Lastly, with no way of holding the bottom of the mounting kit in, i couldn't help but think the weight of the HU hanging there would eventually force the bottom of the mount out. Maybe this wasn't necessary but i wrapped a piece of mechanics wire around the mounting piece for the HU and the pocket above it to hold it up. I haven't had any problems with it moving at all. I am still wondering why the manufacturer didn't incorporate the mounting screws of the heater controls and add tabs to be able to hold the mounting kit in also.
Pros: Looks good and after mods fits well. Good rigid construction. Color matches pretty well.
Cons: Didn't mount like it was designed to, could have been designed smarter.

GM-K411 In-dash Receiver Kit
Richard B from Indio, CA on 1/6/2014
1995 Saturn SL1
Almost a no-brainer. Had to do a very minor amount of interior radio clearance trimming to allow the receiver to fit into the kit, but no other issues and the unit fit like OEM into the dash of the Saturn SL
Pros: Solid construction...mates well in the vehicle
Cons: Required very minor sizing adjustment to get the receiver to fit into the bracket mounting opening.

Plastic, but cheap too

1996 Saturn SL2
Application: '96 Saturn SL2 beater car - Lower half of plastic housing really doesn't attach to anything. There are two tabs on top, which are held in place with the factory screws, but there's really nothing holding the bottom in, other than gravity and friction. Amazing that it works, but after two weeks is seems to be staying in place.
Pros: It was free
Cons: Not sure if it's going to work on the long term.

Worked like a charm

1995 Saturn SL2
When I was viewing this product online, I was wondering what those tabs were and figured that since I was installing a single din head unit that those wouldn't be there when I received the package. Much to my dismay, there they were, plain as day. I figured no big deal, I could just snap them off. Wrong! Maybe if the plastic weren't so thick it would have been pretty easy to just use the knife that I used. Ended up taking about 10 minutes to remove and smooth the edges, which isn't too bad. And as a added bonus, I got a nice little battle wound out of the deal. After that, it was a piece of cake to install. Finished off nicely and the Pioneer DEH-6600BT looks like it has been there the whole time. If it weren't for the tab process (and battle wound) I would have gave this product 5 stars. All in all, a very good product at a reasonable price that I would recommend.
Pros: It worked!!
Cons: The tabs.

This receiver was very easy to install. I used a small hack saw blade to cut out the tabs that I wasn't going to use and then trimed them a little bit more with a razor blade. This made everything smooth. The radio mount went in snug (which I wanted) so it wouldn't move around and the fit would be tight. Installed the radio into the mount and it looked great. Very easy install without needing all sorts of odd tools. Had the install done in about 30 minutes. I also bought the wiring kit and did this before opening the radio in the car, that way it was just plug everything in and go.
Pros: Easy install with common tools. Would not recoment using a utility knife to cut the tabs. Very thick and if it slips things could get ugly.
Cons: The color of the kit is just a little off from the factory color, but is very close. Storage pocket isn't deep enough to hold CD's. Can hold other things though.

I wasn't to impressed with this Receiver Kit. It was more like something I would get at the local big box store not Crutchfield. When you have to remove parts to fit your application there is always the chance of breaking the plastic and being left with an unusable piece of trash. Besides do they still make aftermarket receivers with the two big knobs sticking out the front?

Mounting Kit
Phil N from Lake Stevens, Wa on 3/1/2011
Although the mounting kit was a good fit, the pocket portion of the kit sags at the top of the bezel. it also interferes with the electronic Module at the top of the bezel which contains the buttons for Trac Control and Rear Window Defogger. The kit does fit snuggly into position and the radio installation looks great.

Easiest installation ever...
Chaz from St. Louis, MO on 2/13/2011
1996 Saturn SL2
I have replaced radios in the past and have always had to modify the "made to fit" bezels (and receiver kits). They always had that "this radio sticks out like a sore thumb" look. I was worried that this kit would have the same "aftermarket" look, especially since it was going into a 96 Saturn SL2. It proved me wrong. The color and more importantly the overall shape was a perfect match for our dash. I bought this receiver kit to go along with the Kenwood KDC-HD545U receiver. I used a Dremel tool to remove the shaft plates and had the stereo installed and working in 10 minutes. It took longer to solder/heat shrink the wiring harnesses than it did to install the stereo. Once again, Thank you Crutchfield for carrying quality products at great prices.

Great fit

Great fit in my 99 Saturn SL2. Really like having the storage pocket. Color and texture match the rest of the dash very well. Only "problem" was that pieces that you have to remove if you're not using a shaft-style radio (who does anymore?) were a little tough to remove. They said to use a utility knife, which was tough even with a fresh blade. I ended up using a Dremel tool and cutting wheel, they came out much easier that way.

1998 Saturn SL2
This chassis was a great item to have when installing a new head unit in a Saturn SL2. Its got a good tight fit, and looks good. Only two real complaints: its a bit annoying to take out those little spacer things, and the plastic doesn't match the texture/feel/color of the other interior plastics. But neither of these are really much of a hindrance. Overall great product!

This product is worth every penny. The instructions are very simple to understand. The installation was simple. In about 15 minutes, I had my radio installed and looks like a proffessional did it. The adapter mounts to the same 2 screws that the OEM did and fits perfect and looks like the radio was installed from the factory.

Clean Fit For Saturn SC1
Crutchfield customer from Salt Lake City, UT on 4/23/2010
1999 Saturn SC1
I recently received this installation kit as part of a cd player I ordered from crutchfield. The unit fits perfectly in my saturn and looks great! My only grievance with it is that by moving the little storage unit above the deck it makes it significantly more shallow. I usually store my wallet in there while driving but the pocket is barely big enough to fit the remote the deck came with. The unit is awesome, just lousy that the pocket that I am so fond of is so much smaller.

The better of the two...
Crutchfield customer from Arlington, VA on 3/18/2010

Of the two standard size dash adapters for the 2nd generation Saturn S series, this is the better looking of the two, even if it moves the radio lower on the dash. Fit was nearly perfect. The only problem- the edges of the pocket were too sharp- I lightly filed and smoothed them to make them more "hand-friendly".

No fit for my stereo
ssaxt0 from Antioch, CA on 2/13/2009
It is a slick looking unit but it did not fit my unit or another unit I had because maybe I did not have a DIN Sleeve. Sorry, this purchase was a waste for me because I have to fill the gap between unit and this product. I got some ideas to make it look better than it does right now but it is still not in because the antenna did not fit so I have to get an adapter. This purchase was a bust so far. Sorry.

Instructions out of date
Dave from Alexandria, VA on 9/8/2007
1995 Saturn SC2
Just a heads-up, the instructions show two tabs at the top of the unit used to bolt it down with the screws from the factory installation. However, the unit I received didn't have these tabs. It slid in my '95 Saturn anyway, and so far it appears to hold. I'm just worried that thieves would have a pretty easy time stealing my brand-new receiver if they knew only a pair of plastic caps on the sides are holding it in place. I do like the pocket on top, as it makes the buttons on the receiver easier to access from my hand on the shifter.

Great fit, color almost matches the stock dash perfectly (a little tint difference but nothing major) and is a breeze to install. Recommend using metal snips and a file to remove the tabs on the inside of the unit because I tried using a box cutter and it took forever and didn't get much of anywhere, then used those and in 5 minutes was done. Great stuff as usual, reciever install couldn't have been easier
