Q
What wiring kit is needed for a 05 vw with the Monsoon radio?
[ Ignert  Dec 29, 2017 ]

A
I used the metra harness, however you will likely run into battery drain issues if you don't run a relay to your factory amplifier. It depends on the new radio you select and there's really no way to know without some trial and error. The factory Monsoon amp powers on when audio is detected in the line in wires - and many new aftermarket radios seem to trigger this condition even when the car is powered off. Thus the amp runs continuously and drains the battery. I used a bosch relay to cut power to the amp when the car is off.

Honestly I used the tech support. I don't remember, but it was correct. Good luck!

Q
My 2000 Jetta has a single din radio and a CD player above that. If I plan to install a aftermarket double din will this item fit the opening? People are telling me to just use the radio cage, unfortunately my radio never came with a cage

For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle.

Q
how do you remove this dash kit if you have to upgrade system?
[ Daniel  Sep 01, 2015 ]

A
The dash kit just snaps into place, so with a little encouragement you can work it back out.
[ STEVE  Sep 03, 2015 ]
A
If you originally installed this dash kit, do the installation process in reverse. If someone else was the originally installer, see if Crutchfield will send you the installation manual and then do the instructions in reverse. If I recall correctly, this kit snapped in pretty easily so it shouldn't be to tough to pop back out. Just slide your stereo out and see where the clips are holding it.
