Deliver the power your amp deserves

This wiring kit does not include RCA patch cables or speaker wire. You may need to purchase those items separately, in order to complete your installation.

Power ratings and amp efficiency

Most amplifiers come in two distinct "Classes" of technology with different efficiencies and power wire size requirements. Class AB amps typically feature 50% to 60% efficiency, while Class D amps are usually 75% to 80% efficient. This Crutchfield wiring kit was designed to accommodate the energy demands of a Class AB amplifier with a total output of up to 700 watts RMS, or a Class D amp with up to 1,100 watts RMS output.

CTA-2015 Compliant

Crutchfield wire

Crutchfield wire is made of oxygen-free copper, with no impurities that could raise its resistance to a signal's flow or add interference. Crutchfield wire meets all Consumer Technology Association (CTA-2015) standards for size, resistance, and insulation quality.

Customer Q&A

11 questions already asked

Q
Do I need a rca cable if I already have a ddx2 kenwood radio?
[ Carson  Oct 05, 2020 ]
1 answer
A
This kit is for getting your amp powered and grounded. It will depend on your amp if you need RCA cables. The kit does not include any RCA cables.

Q
Can you just install the one 50 amp fuse and leave out the second for a JL 600/4?

We have not received any answers from other customers on your question. I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They should be able to help answer your question.

I only have one 30amp in mine but I'm running a different amplifier.

Q
I am looking at the JL Audio JX400/4D amp. It has a fuse rating of 40 amps, and recommends this wiring kit. The fuse holder, hold 2 fuses. Would I need a single 40 amp fuse, or 2 20 amp fuses in the holder? Or, something else?
[ Cary  Sep 20, 2019 ]

A
Either option should work but two 20 amp fuses would probably be the safest/ best practice for that amp.
[ Cosmo  Oct 12, 2019 ]  Staff
A
just get the wiring kit and you will be doing it right...the Crutchfield folks know their stuff and with the CK4 kit you will be covered!
[ Brad  Oct 12, 2019 ]
A
1- 40 am fuse will work as both fuse holders serve one terminal.
[ Kenneth  Oct 11, 2019 ]
A
Use the manufacturer's suggested fuse rating to protect the equipment. 2- 20 amp fuses.
[ Chris  Oct 11, 2019 ]
Q
Is the fuse holder waterproof or weather resistant?
[ Richard  Aug 29, 2018 ]

A
Weather resistant
[ Matthew  Aug 30, 2018 ]
A
Neither ! Install in dry location only.

Maybe from a splash or two but no, it isn't.

Q
I have a kicker cx1200.1 running 2 12inch rockford fosgate p3d4 will this kit be my best option for wire/fuse size?
[ Ritch  Aug 02, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
Im not sure which class amp you're running but I would look for a kit with a lower gauge wire (thicker) to handle power needs. A capacitor may be something else to look into!
[ OTIS  Aug 06, 2018 ]
Q
is this CCA or true copper?
[ kyle  May 15, 2018 ]
2 answers
A
It's a blend ; NOT 100% copper.
[ NICOLA  Aug 29, 2018 ]
A
If I remember correctly it was true copper I did not remember seeing any aluminum wanding when hooking up the kit
[ TOBY J  May 21, 2018 ]
Q
Will this kit work for a factory radio not aftermarket?
[ nelson  Sep 19, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
This will depend largely on your vehicle. For details on installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on what you will need for an installation.

Q
what size is the ring terminal on the end of the power cable?
[ fbrackin6  Jul 11, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
Its a bit larger than 5/16, so its setup for a standard battery terminal lug on a side post battery. Otherwise you should have no issue with it on a newer style car with the accessory post off the battery terminal. Hope that helps.

Q
Is there a benifit to having x2 50a fuses over x1 100a fuse?
[ Taahir  Oct 12, 2016 ]
3 answers
A
Considering the design of the device, you will have a safety net of one 50A fuse, if the other blows. This could also mean a cheaper cost of replacement, and the added benefit of maintaining a degraded state operability, but I recommend replacing any blown fuse immediately because you will reduce the maximum flow of electricity your amplifier can recieved, limiting your power output to the speakers.
[ Matthew  Oct 12, 2016 ]
A
I believe it can split current draw and if one fuse goes out you have another. This is okay if you have around a 250-450 watt amplifier. If you have a 500 watt plus amplifier, I would quickly replace the blown fuse. I have this wiring kit installed and it is a solid product. I highly recommend it.
[ MATTHEW  Oct 12, 2016 ]
A
To be honest, I can't think of a serious reason. Perhaps the 50 a fuses are more available, or less expensive. I haven't had to buy any replacements yet, so I don't really know. But electrically, I can see no benefit. It may make the combination a little more sensitive. In other words, if a fuse blows from a 10% spike in current, it would take 110 amps to blow the 100 amp fuse. But 105 amps would cause one of the 50's to blow. But I'm just speculating.

Q
I recently purchased a "Crutchfield CK4" Amp wiring kit. The fuses for this unit, do not look standard to me. I just haven't seen them before. Can I purchase spares, in the case that something goes wrong and one blows?
[ Peter  Oct 03, 2016 ]

A
Hellon Peter, The fuse you are referring to is called a mini-ANL fuse which can easily be purchased from any automotive parts store. Hope this helps.
[ Greg  Oct 04, 2016 ]
A
Yes you can, most electronic stores or a local stereo shop should have them. Depending on your area I've even found them at my local auto parts store. The kit works great, I wouldn't be worried about it.
