Q
Where is this wire (14 AWG, 2 conductor) made?
[ Kent  Mar 26, 2022 ]

A
Country of origin is China.

Q
How many strands are in this 14/2 wire?
[ Chris  Dec 28, 2020 ]
2 answers
A
Based on the product image, a reasonable estimate is 70 to 100 strands per conductor (probably closer to the lower end and knowledge of standard strand counts for a given gauge would likely give the exact answer). A greater strand count would require thinner strands and would make the cable more flexible. I can't imagine any installation where this would not be flexible enough. If the skin effect motivates your question, know that it is insignificant for audio frequencies (consult any competent engineering textbook on electromagnetics).

We do not know the total count of the individual copper strands on each side of this wire as well as the other brand/sizes in-wall speaker wire. I wish I had different news for you there

Q
What gauge wire needed to run 50 feet from reciever?
[ Tony  Oct 03, 2020 ]

A
It depends on how much audio power you are pushing to the speaker. But, I run about 100 audio watts per channel and I buy from crutch field at 18 gauge. Great products.....
[ Robert  Oct 08, 2020 ]
A
I don't know the rule or requirements but I bought 14 gauge to run 3 speakers about 30 feet from my receiver. Probably overkill but they sound great and I ran them through wall so I didn't want any chance of a thinner wiring breaking on me mid wall.
[ Patrick  Oct 03, 2020 ]

From Crutchfield. "Thick wire (12 or 14 gauge) is recommended for long wire runs, high power applications, and low-impedance speakers (4 or 6 ohms). For relatively short runs (less than 50 feet) to 8 ohm speakers, 16 gauge wire will usually do just fine. It's cost-effective and easy to work with. Ask your advisor to recommend the proper gauge for your installation." I purchased 14 gauge wire because I wanted less possible interference. It is, however, thicker that 16 gauge wire. I recommend staying away from 18 gauge wire.

Q
I purchased your 2 conductor speaker wire that has 4 different colored wires for 2 pairs pf speakers. Is there a standard color code for the positive and negative wires?
[ john  Sep 18, 2020 ]
1 answer
A
Typically, RED is positive (+) and BLACK is Negative (-). But, as long as you keep the colors the same on each end, it doesn't really matter, except if someone comes to help, and uses the black/red standard.

Q
Is this wire directional?
[ Colby  Oct 15, 2020 ]
4 answers
A
No
[ TROY  Oct 15, 2020 ]
A
No it is not. Better that it not be as well. There is no scientific reason to make directional speaker wire, and it is easier to install this way. You should get the phase (black and red wires) right though; i.e., connected to the correct terminals.
[ Daniel  Oct 15, 2020 ]
A
This wire is not directional. After a year i will be upgrading the wire.
[ A  Oct 15, 2020 ]
A
I'm sorry, I don't know.
