About the Bose® Acoustimass® 15
The Acoustimass 15 Bose's best Acoustimass home entertainment speaker system features a hideaway bass module with built-in amplification dedicated to reproducing only bass frequencies. This frees your A/V receiver's power to drive the system's 5 tiny dual-cube satellites, and gives you much greater dynamic impact all around. The satellites feature a versatile swivel design: You can rotate each speaker's dual cubes for a custom-tailored mix of direct and reflected sound.
Bose's unique multichannel "bass extraction and summation" supplies you with the ideal amount of deep bass for all home theater channels (including center and surround), all the time. During movies, you'll feel bass effects that bring you to the edge of your seat. Switch to music, and the sound remains full and natural.
The Acoustimass 15 and optional wall/ceiling brackets for satellites are available in black or white (see below).

This system includes five identical non-powered dual cube satellites with a 2.5" Twiddler driver in each cube. In addition there is a subwoofer module with dual 5.25" drivers. There is an internal amplifier for the subwoofer. When turned on, the unit has a non-defeatable auto on/off feature which turns the unit on automatically when it senses signal and turns it off when no signal is sensed. There is a rotary bass control knob on the unit that raises or lowers bass response. The impedance is given as "compatible with receivers or amplifiers rated from 4-8 ohms". The power is given as "compatible with receivers or amplifiers rated from 10-200 watts per channel". As with most Bose products, many specifications such as frequency response and sensitivity are not given. The specifications are also not provided for the amplifier power in the subwoofer module. The warranty is 5 years on the drivers and 1 year on electronic components and the amplifier.
Wiring: Each of the five satellites connect to RCA jack outputs on the subwoofer module. The are spring clip connectors on the satellites. The subwoofer module is connected to the receiver or amplifier using the system input cable. The system input cable connects to the subwoofer module using a nonstandard 15 pin DIN plug. The other end of the cable has five pairs of tinned speaker wire (marked for correct output) which need to be connected to the receiver's front, center and surround speaker outputs. There is also a covered male RCA jack which can be connected to a receiver's LFE/Subwoofer preamp output, or it can be left covered and unused if the receiver does not have an LFE/Subwoofer preamp output. Since the crossover is in the subwoofer module, the cubes can not be connected directly to a receiver/amplifier.
Wall Mounting: Each of the 5 dual cubes has a 5mm female thread in the back allowing for a screw-in type mounting bracket.
The virtually invisible speaker design uses Bose direct/reflecting speaker technology combined with Integrated Signal Processing. Automatic system protection circuitry lowers output level when speaker power handling capacity is surpassed. The speaker setting for Dolby Pro Logic is LARGE for the center channel. In Dolby Digital, the left and right front speakers should be set to LARGE. The center channel setting is LARGE. The left and right surround setting in this mode is LARGE. The subwoofer should be in the ON position. LFE (Low frequency effects) should be ON (at the maximum setting).
Woofer Size: The manual incorrectly lists the woofer size as 5.5". The correct woofer size is 5.25" inches; there are two 5.25" woofers in the bass module.
