Best-in-class noise-cancellation goes wireless

The Bose® QuietComfort® 35 headphones

The Bose® QuietComfort® 35 headphones (shown in silver) play music wirelessly and offer powerful noise cancellation.

Meet the first-ever Bose® noise-canceling headphones with Bluetooth® the QuietComfort® 35 wireless. I can tell you from first-hand experience, these headphones were worth the wait. They fit comfortably and feel very light. Music plays wirelessly from your phone or tablet via Bluetooth, so there's no dangling cord in your way while you listen. But you'll realize these headphones are special before you even push play. Flipping the power switch on the right earcup activates the Acoustic Noise Cancelling® technology, and practically eliminates outside distractions.

The noise cancellation works so well on these headphones, it's almost startling. They made things so quiet when I first turned them on, that I had to stop and get my bearings for a moment. To make sure I wasn't overreacting, I had my fellow writer Kramer Crane try them out. He uses the Bose® QuietComfort® 25 as his everyday headphones, and he said that the QC® 35 offered an improvement on the already stellar noise cancellation he's used to.

Solid Bluetooth® signal

When you're on the move, wireless headphones are super-handy. And the Bluetooth signal on the QC® 35 headphones is quite strong. I was a full hallway away from my phone and still heard music. And I had no drop outs while playing wirelessly from my pocket.

From our review of the Bose® QuietComfort® 35 wireless headphones

"Listening over Bluetooth, Sturgill Simpson's album A Sailor's Guide to Earth sounded appropriately laid-back, but never lazy. On tracks requiring more energy, the QC® 35 headphones were happy to oblige. Bass knocked with authority, while highs were crisp and clear."

— Jeff Miller, A/V writer

Great-sounding travel accessory

The QuietComfort® 35's noise cancellation helps melt away travel noises like the drone of an airplane engine, allowing you to listen at a comfortable volume. If you spend a lot of time in the air, this can really help save a lot of stress on your ears. Plus they'll be pampered by the extra-plush earcups, which rest softly on your head. These headphones also fold at the earcups, so you can pack them into the included padded bag that zips up for easy transport.

20 hours of wireless use with noise cancellation

Bose QuietComfort 35 headphones

The QC® 35 wireless headphones feature buttons on the right ear cup to control music and phone calls.

The QC® 35 headphones have a built-in rechargeable battery and include a charging cable. On a full charge, you can get up to 20 hours of wireless listening with noise cancellation on. A voice prompt tells you how much battery life you have left every time you power them on. It will also tell you when you're paired with your Bluetooth® device.

If you choose to plug in with the included audio cable, you can listen up to 40 hours with noise cancellation. Even when the battery is fully drained, you can still listen to music without noise cancellation through the cable.

On-ear buttons and hands-free phone calls

There's rarely a reason to fish your phone out of your bag or pocket with the QC® 35 headphones. Want to change the song or adjust the volume? Use the buttons on the right earcup. And when someone calls, press the "Answer" button and talk hands free through the built-in mic.

If you prefer to use your device to control things, you can download the free Bose® Connect app for Apple® or Android™. It lets you connect the QC® 35 to multiple Bluetooth-compatible devices simultaneously. If you're watching a video on your iPad®, you can seamlessly answer an incoming call from your smartphone, all wirelessly.

Features

Overview: The Bose QuietComfort 35 wireless headphones feature exclusive Bose technologies to shut out the world around you to make your music sound better. These lightweight, around-the-ear headphones have soft ear cushions for a comfortable fit. You can easily connect the headphones with Bluetooth and NFC pairing. When you can't go wireless, you can plug the headphones into your smartphone, tablet, or other audio device, using the supplied 4' cable. The QC35s come with an attenuating airline adapter and a semi-hard carrying case.

Bluetooth/NFC: The QuietComfort 35 wireless headphones feature Bluetooth wireless technology that lets you listen to your favorite music and make phone calls free from wires. You can pair the headphones to your NFC-enabled device by simply touching the device to the NFC touchpoint on the right ear cup.

Note: When Bluetooth is enabled, you will not be able to turn off Noise Cancellation.

Bose Connect: The Bose Connect app makes it easy to connect to your Bluetooth devices, and switch between them whenever you desire. It improves your wireless experience by helping you pair your headphones to multiple devices by a simple swipe. You can also get software updates, product tips, and personalized settings from the app. The free Bose Connect app is available for download from the Apple App store for devices running iOS 8.0 or later, and from Google Play for devices running Android 4.3 and up.

On-board Headphone Controls: The QC35 wireless headphones feature a 3-button control panel on the bottom of the right ear cup. The outer buttons control volume up and volume down, while the center button has multiple functions. When listening to music, the multi-function button controls play/pause, skip forward/backward, fast forward/rewind, and voice control. The button also lets you answer, end, or reject a call. The controls work with both most iOS and Android devices.

Voice Prompts: Voice Prompts in the headphones guide you through the Bluetooth pairing process, powering on and off, and for battery status updates. The Voice Prompts can be heard in English, Spanish, French, German, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, and Dutch. Other languages may be available for download from the Bose QC35 website.

Active Noise Cancelling: The Bose QuietComfort 35 wireless headphones offer significant noise reduction to eliminate much of the outside noise, so you can concentrate on your music, movies, and videos. The soft ear cups acoustically seal out noise. Microphones located inside and outside of each ear cup continually measure, compare, and react to outside noise. The proprietary noise cancellation circuitry then sends and equal and opposite signal to the ear cup's speakers to cancel out the noise. The circuitry also goes the extra mile to eliminate the soft hiss that occurs with most electronics. You can use Active Noise Cancelling at any time; with or without Bluetooth, or even while you're not listening to music.

Battery Powered: The headphones have a built-in Lithium-ion rechargeable battery, which powers both Bluetooth and Active Noise Cancellation. The battery charges in about 2 hours 15 minutes via the supplied Micro USB cable. A fully charged battery will power the headphones for up to 20 hours when connected wirelessly (Bluetooth and ANC), and up to 40 hours when connected with the headphone cable (ANC only). An LED battery indicator on the right ear cup shows the charging status. When the battery is depleted, you can still listen to music by plugging in the supplied 48" cable.

Note: The built-in battery is not user replaceable.

High Quality Materials: The Bose QC35 wireless headphones are crafted with premium materials for lightweight comfort and durability. The ear cups are molded with glass-filled nylon instead of plastic for a lightweight feel and for strength. The stainless steel headband springs and pivots are built to last for years. The headband is wrapped with Alcantara, like you'll find in prestigious automobiles and luxury yachts. The ear cushions are made of synthetic protein leather with a silicone bead to passively block external noise.

Folding Ear Cups: The QC35s feature hinged ear cups that fold and rotate for compact storage in the supplied carrying case.

Q
I'm looking for something to drown out the thumping feet of upstairs neighbors while I study in quiet, would these be helpful in this capacity?
[ Don  Sep 30, 2017 ]
3 answers
A
I will say yes. a thump is heavy on the base, so you could feel the vibrations i guess, but for most sound these should work fine. Battery life is a plus too. i
[ JAMES M  Oct 01, 2017 ]  Staff
A
I use these to quite the phone calls and talking all around my desk. I'm sure they will handle the thumping ogre feet from above. :)
[ EVANS  Sep 30, 2017 ]  Staff
A
Absolutely! I wear mine on the plane. Sometimes I'm not even listening to anything but quiet.
[ John  Sep 30, 2017 ]  Staff
Q
How well do these work with a conversation? My wife wants to be sure that they would COMPLETELY block conversation from someone sitting next to you on an airplane. I know that it will block the "hum" of the airplane but wasn't sure about conversation tones. Thanks!
[ Steven  Jun 07, 2017 ]
5 answers
A
No, they definitely do not block conversation, nor would I prefer they do. It's essential to hear flight crew announcements, etc.
[ KEITH L  Jun 07, 2017 ]  Staff
A
It will not completely block conversation. That said, neither would earplugs. It will remove almost all noise except direct conversation. I would recommend she try them out and return if unhappy. I doubt you end up shipping them back. Cheers
[ JAMES M  Jun 07, 2017 ]  Staff
A
I have these for a year now. Perfect for In-flight use. Cuts out hum and other undesirable frequencies like magic. I use them daily at home.
[ Ashish  Jun 07, 2017 ]  Staff
A
These do not block spoken words very well. Mainly for plane noise.
[ Timothy  Jun 07, 2017 ]  Staff
A
It's mainly humming and some talk not all... but it differently a ton better then most noise cancelling headphones headphones around. I would have her try them out first, I'm sure she won't regret it. I bought this for me and now my wife got herself a pair. Good luck with your hurt for good headphones.

Q
what is the bluetooth (wireless) range?
[ ___RB  Apr 24, 2017 ]
5 answers
A
I would say, about 25-30 ft
[ Steve  Apr 24, 2017 ]  Staff
A
My experience with several Bluetooth devices is up to about 30 feet max.
[ KEITH L  Apr 24, 2017 ]  Staff
A
official its 10 mts/30 ft. but depends on source strength. Mine works good in line of sight but the moment i go behind a door or a wall the crackling starts and signal drops in 7-8 mtrs. Also, the BT antenna seems to be in the Right ear cup, if you turn aways from the source the signal drops. Note: My test has been with Samsung S6, Macbook pro indoor and outdoors.
[ Ashish  Apr 24, 2017 ]  Staff
A
Bluetooth range in general is 30' but depends a lot on environmental factors and how efficient the device you are trying to is.
[ Dennis  Apr 24, 2017 ]  Staff
A
I don't have a precise answer but I certainly find the connection to be reliable within 10 or more feet.

Q
Is noise cancellation ever-present, or can it be switched off?
[ Big R  Jan 18, 2017 ]
11 answers
A
I downloaded the Bose Connect App for my iPhone. From the Bose Connect App you now have the option to update to firmware 1.3.2 which lets you control the level of noise cancelation to either high, low, or off in the wireless mode.
[ Frank  Jul 30, 2017 ]  Staff
A
You can switch it off.
[ John  Jan 20, 2017 ]  Staff
A
I'm not aware of such a feature in the QC35. The QC35 noise cancellation is enabled at power on. I see no way to disable noise cancellation from the headphone or iOS app. The QC20 has an "aware mode" button which introduces sound from the room into the headset so that you can hear sound around you - such as a public announcement or to speak with someone. The QC35 does not have an "aware mode" feature from what I can determine.
[ Dennis  Jan 18, 2017 ]  Staff
A
It's always on. Theses are fantastic headphones
[ laurie  Jan 18, 2017 ]  Staff
A
It can be switched off. There is a switch on the right ear shell that you use to turn the ANR off and on. This switch also turns on the Bluetooth connectivity.
[ Nicholas  Jan 18, 2017 ]  Staff
A
If you are using the headphones through bluetooth then Noise cancellation is alway on. With wired connection you can choose either to listen direct without any processing like passive headphone or can switch on the NC and there by sound processing. The bass is much better with power on.
[ Ashish  Jan 18, 2017 ]  Staff
A
It can be switched off. The headphones can be used with or without noise canceling while using the included 3.5mm cord, but noise cancelling has to be on while using with Bluetooth.
[ KENNETH COONS  Jan 18, 2017 ]  Staff
A
If you are connected via Bluetooth, the noise cancellation is always on. If you are plugged into the cable, you can turn the headphones off and still listen to music. This will turn off the noise cancellation. However, it also turns off the active EQ circuit which will affect sound quality.
[ John  Jan 18, 2017 ]  Staff
A
It's always on, however since it's wireless it has to be charged. If the battery dies, you can still use the headphones but you'd have to connect an audio cable to the audio source, only then would the noise canceling be disabled
[ Steve  Jan 18, 2017 ]  Staff
A
Yah, you can shut it off if you don't want the NC.
[ EVANS  Jan 18, 2017 ]  Staff
A
While using Bluetooth, it cannot be switched off. While wired, I believe you can use it without noise cancellation.
[ JEFFREY  Jan 18, 2017 ]  Staff
Q
I don't want to invest $349 on these headphones and I'm stuck with them if they are bad. But you guys have 60 day returns right ? How does this work ?
[ Dev  Dec 15, 2016 ]
2 answers
A
I'm a customer, not a Crutchfield employee, so your question is addressed to the wrong person. However, I will be glad to share this information with you. I have purchased from Crutchfield for two years, and have been totally satisfied. I have never found any of their information to be false or misleading; the products I have purchased have been "as described". BUT, I did buy one product that I later decided I simply did not want. Crutchfield let me return it with full refund and no questions asked. BTW, these headphones are fantastic. Sound is wonderful and noise cancellation is excellent. They are expensive, but don't compare them to headphones without noise reduction---that's apples and oranges.
[ Wesley  Dec 16, 2016 ]  Staff
A
I can speak first hand on the quality of the headset. The QC35 headset works well for me when connecting to an iPhone, iPad or MacBook Pro. My primary need was for noise cancellation in an office cubicle environment and it serves that need well. I also use the same headset at home. I have noticed more wireless interference at the office than at home. There can be an occasional static or popping sound but it's nothing frequent. I can't comment with any first hand experience with a 60 day return although that is an incentive for purchasing from Crutchfield. I take that 60 day policy into consideration when comparing with other retailers policy and pricing.

Q
can it connect wireless with any portable device?
[ Juan  Sep 01, 2016 ]
9 answers
A
Yes any Bluetooth enabled device
[ laurie  Sep 02, 2016 ]  Staff
A
Mine works great with Bluetooth, so if your device has that capability, you're good to go.
[ KEITH L  Sep 02, 2016 ]  Staff
A
My cursor skipped around when I was answering so I typed some words in the wrong places. I am adding this to clarify some of my accidental wording above - If your portable device does not have bluetooth - then you may be able to use the "backup audio cable that comes with the QC-35 assuming your device has the appropriate matching headset connector. I am very happy with the QC-35 noise cancellation feature. The over the ear headset is much more comfortable than ear buds but any headset can bring on some fatigue for the wearer. So your experience may be different. Any wireless device by nature can have issues with the wireless connection depending upon your location and distance from the device. I've been in crowded areas where interference may have cause the signal to drop. But this doesn't happen in my office where I use it the most.
[ Dennis  Sep 02, 2016 ]  Staff
A
Juan - The Bose QC-35 is capable of a wireless Stereo Bluetooth connection to most devices that include a compatible bluetooth feature. I am using the QC-35 to connect to my Mac, iPad, and iPhone. You can connect to two devices simultaneously via a bluetooth connection. Bose offers an app that assists with switching connections. It works well on the iphone. If the portable device does not have the bluetooth feature you may be able to connect it via the "back up audio cable" that comes with the QC-35 assuming the device has the proper headset . The Bose website has the complete manual in PDF format - that you may download and review before purchasing the headset connector. I highly recommend you contact Crutchfield sales for assistance if you are unsure.

I use it with my iPhone iPad and mac air. I haven't tried it with other portable devices. Works great on everything I use it for.
[ Thomas  Sep 02, 2016 ]  Staff
A
I would assume yes. I have mine synched to my iPhone and iPad. As long as Bluetooth is searchable, it should connect. As a plus, it saves all devices that it has connected in the past for future use.

A
Sure. Any device that has Bluetooth.

Q
What is the frequency response of these earphones? Connection via the 3.5 mm jack from my iPhone would limit sound quality as well as traditional Blue Tooth. Does sound quality of these earphones suffer compared to, say, the B&W P5?
[ Scott  Jun 19, 2016 ]
1 answer
A
Bose does not publish frequency response specifications on any of their products. The QC35 work very well though and provide excellent performance, active noise cancelation & the wireless Bluetooth capability as well. While Bluetooth does degrade sound quality, the headphones also come with a cable so you can make the physical connection for the best performance. I hope that helps. Q
Are these head phones compatible with my Yamaha 1050 A receiver?
[ Edward  Jun 16, 2016 ]
1 answer
A
Yes, via Yamaha's MusicCast feature built-in to your RX-A1050 receiver, you can stream the audio output wirelessly to a Bluetooth speaker or headphones (regardless of manufacture). So the Bose QC35's here would be a good option for that. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159

Q
Can the rechargeable battery be replaced easily?
[ Curt  Jun 15, 2016 ]
1 answer
A
The headphones are brand new (just released) so we do not have a replacement battery or procedure available for the QC35 just yet. The one that comes with the headphones should last a long while so, this shouldn't be a concern for awhile. You can contact Bose directly for more information about the battery and replacement options if need be: 800-999-2673 I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

Q
Want to ware them in Disney Iam noisy sensitive can I program them or can I hook up to park wifi or hook into Park Bluetooth ????
[ T  Oct 31, 2017 ]
2 answers
A
Sorry, you can only link these headphones to two personal Apple devices, so wouldn't work with the Disney park system.
[ STEVEN  Oct 31, 2017 ]  Staff
A
You probably can, but the park wifi is only going to get you to content, presumably, that you'll play through your smartphone, which honestly is probably the better bet. Pairing with the park Bluetooth, if it's available, would require someone from the park to pair with you once you set the headset to "ready to pair".

You just need a USB charging port and the included cable. By the way, the headphones will last quite a while on a charge.
[ RANDY  Jul 06, 2017 ]  Staff
A
Just use the supplied cord (USB) and any charger that accepts USB (for example an Apple block-small or large).

We only have the preliminary information available for these new QC 35 wireless models and I'm afraid that doesn't include info on the built-in mic location. However, I found this blurb on Bose's website regarding the mic: "The QuietComfort 35 headphones have a dual-microphone system to allow you to use them during calls when connected to a smartphone that supports the Bluetooth HFP profile. In addition to traditional calls, the headphones will work with many apps that use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), such as Skype or FaceTime. The dual-mic system helps reject wind and background noise to ensure an exceptional far-end experience, while sidetone lets you hear your own voice so you sound natural when speaking on a call." I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159
