Product Research

Features

Bluetooth Technology: The Bose SoundLink Mini II Bluetooth speaker offers built-in Bluetooth technology which lets you wirelessly connect with many Bluetooth enabled devices; such as your iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, Windows Phone/PC, Mac computer/laptop, and more. The Mini II supports Bluetooth A2DP/AVRCP for wireless music streaming and Bluetooth HFP for hands-free speakerphone. Bluetooth wireless technology has a range of approximately 30'.

  • Wireless Music Streaming: You'll be able to wirelessly stream music stored on your device or from music apps on your device; like Pandora, iHeartRadio, MOG, or Spotify. You can control basic playback functions (like Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track) from the unit's top-panel controls. Advanced music navigation and song/artist display will still be done from your Bluetooth-enabled device. And if you need to multitask, you can keep using your device while you listen to music. If you are using a smartphone, a phone call interrupts your audio source and plays through the SoundLink Mini II. When the call ends, your music automatically resumes through the Bluetooth speaker.
  • Hands-Free Speakerphone: The SoundLink Mini II also features a built-in mic, so you can use the Bluetooth speaker as a speakerphone for your smartphone. The built-in mic will be used to carry on your side of the conversation, while the other party is heard through the Bluetooth speaker. You can use the Mini II's top-panel controls to answer, end, and reject calls. All other phone functions will have to be done from your smartphone. The Mini II Bluetooth speaker even identifies incoming callers (when applicable).
  • Simple Pairing w/ Voice Prompts: Voice prompts guide you through the Bluetooth pairing and connecting processes. The SoundLink Mini II can pair up to eight Bluetooth-enabled devices. It can connect to two devices at once, so you can easily switch between mobile devices; you can only play music from one device at a time. Once paired, the Bose SoundLink Mini II will automatically re-connect with your Bluetooth source device when in wireless range (up to 30').
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Bose SoundLink Mini II Bluetooth speaker.

Advanced Sound Performance: Proprietary speaker technologies deliver your music in all its clarity with robust sound unusual for a compact, wireless speaker. Its unique driver configuration allows the small, lightweight speaker to reproduce deep, full sound.

Note: For best bass response, the back of the speaker should be placed near a wall, but not directly against a wall. Bass response decreases as the speaker is moved away from a wall. Do not lay the speaker on its back. Sound is emitted from both the front and rear of the unit.

Aluminum Construction: The Bose SoundLink Mini II Bluetooth speaker features a single-piece aluminum cabinet finished in silver with a black mesh grille that is both attractive and durable.

Top-Panel Controls: The SoundLink Mini II Bluetooth speaker features simple-to-use top-panel buttons (Power/Volume/Mute/Bluetooth/Aux). You will control all playback functions of your music from your connected Bluetooth mobile device.

Aux Input: The SoundLink Mini II has a side-panel 3.5mm auxiliary input for connecting a external portable audio source other than your Bluetooth-enabled device.

Rechargeable Battery: The SoundLink Mini II Bluetooth speaker is powered by a built-in rechargeable Lithium-ion battery. A fully charged battery gives you up to ten hours of continuous playing time in most situations. The included charging cradle, USB/AC power adapter, and 40" microUSB-to-USB charging cable recharges the battery and serves as a convenient home base for the speaker, and it lets you play while it charges. An empty battery usually takes three hours to charge. The battery light shows green when the battery is charged between 70-100%. Yellow indicates a charge between 20-70%. And red means the battery is less than 20% charged.

Note: If a connected device stops playing audio for 30 minutes, the speaker automatically turns off to conserve battery power.

AC Power Adapter: You can also plug the included USB/AC power adapter directly into the SoundLink Mini II's microUSB port using the included microUSB-to-USB cable to power the Bluetooth speaker by standard household current.

  • Input: 100-240V~ 50/60Hz, 300mA
  • Output: 5VDC, 1600mA

Firmware/Software Updates The unit's microUSB port is also designed for downloadable software updates that may be available in the future. By registering this product, you will automatically be notified of any necessary updates.

Optional Bose Accessories: You can add a soft cover (018SLMCRVB, sold separately) to the speaker; available in a variety of colors. You can also purchase a convenient travel bag (018SLMTBBK, sold separately).

Q
Can it be used with a Sonos system?
[ Joe  Feb 09, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
The Bose SoundLink Mini is a Bluetooth speaker designed to connect to your Bluetooth music streaming device (like smartphone, tablet, computer, etc.); however, it would not work with the Sonos wireless music streaming system. If you would like to discuss speaker options that would work with Sonos, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
how long does battery charge last ?
[ Paul  Dec 21, 2016 ]
3 answers
A
Several hours although I really never timed or tested the limits. On the subject of the battery and charging, I'm having issues with the device showing a full charge(green light) while docked but having zero charge when I take to use it. Additionally, the device is not hooking up to the charging dock easily & you have to wiggle it around to hear the connection beep and then see the charging blinking white light. Which all probably brings me back to my first problem of not being charged despite having the fully charged light on
[ David  Dec 22, 2016 ]
A
I get about 8 hours use before needing a charge. Presently I now have it charging full time as I use it continuously, ditto for the attached Ipod. One suggestion....it is very easy for the speaker to become detached from the charging battery base and this may result in lesser usage if you leave it on.
[ BURT  Dec 22, 2016 ]
A
It can last a couple days and up to a week depending on its use. When you turn it on, the speaker will tell you the percentage that it's charged. We use it for a few hours each night and we don't have to charge for days. We love it!

Q
Does the Mini pair with a Samsung Smart TV?
[ Sharoni  Dec 14, 2016 ]
1 answer
A
Several 2015-newer Samsung TV's have the ability to output the audio wirelessly via Bluetooth--if your Samsung model is 2015 or newer and includes Bluetooth audio output, it wouldn't have any problems pairing up with the Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth speaker II. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. I hope that helps!

Q
How does the bose mini 'll sound outside?
[ David  Dec 14, 2016 ]
2 answers
A
for the size, this speaker fills space. I use it in my backyard and parties in park pavilions. I have a similar JBL unit that doesn't even come close. Don't get me wrong... this isn't going to create a rock concert level, but you wont have difficulty hearing fantastic sound either.
[ Shawn  Dec 14, 2016 ]
A
I bring it out on the deck and tune up the neighborhood when I work in the garden. It's not opus blastus by any means but it sounds quite good.
[ Michael  Dec 14, 2016 ]
Q
How do you know when speaker fully charged?
[ tony  Dec 09, 2016 ]
2 answers
A
The charging light will turn from yellow/orange to green. Also, if you turn on the device, it will tell you the amount of charge on it (e.g.: "battery 80%"). Hope this helps.
[ Paulo  Dec 09, 2016 ]
A
Green light or turn on the speaker, it will say the battery 100%

Q
How many watts of sound does this put out? (Isn't this an important detail? I found no mention of it on your website...)
[ Sam  Jul 12, 2015 ]
1 answer
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Good question. Wattage can be an indication of the total volume a speaker can put out, but there are other factors that can influence this as well. Bose does not publish a spec on wattage for this speaker. That said, the volume produced by this speaker is pretty similar to other speakers in the category. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
How to shuffle your music?
[ John  Jul 02, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
On your music device. (Smartphone, tablet, etc.) typically these Bluetooth speakers are simply an extension of your music source and don't provide addition functionality. Although you can skip forward and change volume with the Bose unit.
[ JEFF  Jul 03, 2017 ]
Q
Does the Bose unit play music on USB thumb drives?
[ John  May 07, 2017 ]
2 answers
A
Not to my knowledge, we bought this unit for our daughter, however, looking at the spec sheet online, the inputs are Bluetooth and 3.5mm AUX connector. There is a micro-USB port but that is for charging.
[ Kelly  May 08, 2017 ]
A
No. The only inputs on the Bose Soundlink Mini Bluetooth are the Bluetooth connection and the conventional .3mm stereo cable not included but accessed by tapping the AUX soft touch button.

Q
can I use Pandora on this radio?
[ adeli  Apr 08, 2017 ]
7 answers
A
Yes, you can but you would have to do it on a device. The speaker connects thru bluetooth, so mine is connected to my phone which I have the Pandora app for. It also will work for phone calls when connected to your phone.
[ RYAN B  Apr 15, 2017 ]
A
Yes, if the device your streaming Bluetooth from has pandora on it. This is just a speaker.
[ REBECCA  Apr 09, 2017 ]
A
It's a Bluetooth speaker you can send any signal to it Pandora Spotify whatever you want Enter an answer to this question.
[ Craig  Apr 09, 2017 ]
A
It is just a bluetooth speaker - if Pandora is on your phone/ipad, etc. It will play. It has no independent content.
[ Megan  Apr 08, 2017 ]
A
This speaker has no special stand alone feature for Pandora. But I doubt anyone does, nor does that stop you from using it. You simply connect to this speaker through Bluetooth on your phone, or iPad. Then you stream Pandora through that device. The speaker doesn't care. It simply plays music.
[ JEFF  Apr 08, 2017 ]
A
Of course !! As long as u use Bluetooth connection
[ YUK LUN  Apr 08, 2017 ]
A
Yes. You sure can. Sound its crisp& clear. I have bought three. A couple as gifts.

[ YUK LUN  Oct 25, 2016 ]
Q
Does this speaker deliver stereo sound with good bass?.
[ Dan  Jan 04, 2016 ]
6 answers
A
Yes it's in stereo, as for bass thats more subjectable to taste. I find the sound to be rich, not real bassy, however the bass can be increased significantly based on how you position the unit. I found if you position it with something behind it or place it kitty corner in a cabinet, the sound becomes much more deep.
[ Drew  Jan 09, 2016 ]
A
I have had mine for a few months now and I love it. I take it everywhere with me. I think it has amazing sound and delivers a good amount of bass for the size of the speaker. I am very impressed. I have had several people comment on how great the sound is and can't believe that it comes out of that small of a speaker.
[ RYAN B  Jan 05, 2016 ]
A
We have this unit in our kitchen, which is quite a large space. This speaker system is small, and the bass is actually pretty impressive for the units size. I highly recommend it. I also take it with me outside to work on projects. Makes it that much more enjoyable to work on stuff.
[ JEFF  Jan 04, 2016 ]
A
For most music, it does the job very well. The only music that you may want another device for is beat heavy hip hop.
[ Stephen  Jan 04, 2016 ]
A
I think it sounds great. It's not chest thumping but I was pleasantly surprised. Helps if you put it against a wall like the manual suggests.
[ Jeff  Jan 04, 2016 ]
A
For it's size, the bass is fine. I have no complaints. You might want to listen to one before you purchase. I bought two.
[ PRESTON S  Jan 04, 2016 ]
Q
are the speaker magnetically shielded?
[ GIL  Jun 23, 2015 ]

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: I doubt it is, but we just have preliminary on the Bose Sound link Mini II. Last generation Sound link Mini was not magnetically shielded. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
