Bose® SoundWear™ Companion® Speaker
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
They are GREAT, allows me to listen to things loudly and not bother others..!!
Bose® SoundWear™ Companion® Speaker - Dual-pressure microphone for clear, wireless speakerphone calls
Bose® SoundWear™ Companion® Speaker - Stay aware of your surroundings while you listen to music or podcasts
The Bose® SoundWear™ Companion® Speaker plays music wirelessly via Bluetooth® to keep your hands and ears free.
So here's something completely new from Bose®. We weren't even sure how to classify the SoundWear™ Companion® Speaker on our website. Take a look — would you call it a portable Bluetooth® speaker? A set of headphones? It's really kind of both and neither. But when I took this cutting-edge wearable speaker home to try, the whole family agreed that you can call it "really convenient."
This lightweight neckband speaker rests comfortably on your shoulders. Music and other audio content plays wirelessly from your phone via Bluetooth. Bose's processing manages to deliver nice, full sound within a small "halo" around your head — without playing at a volume that disturbs others.
While I washed dishes or did other chores, I enjoyed my favorite football podcasts. And the heated sports talk never blared so loudly that it bothered my family. Headphones tend to put up a "stay away" barrier, but the SoundWear™ never did. If someone wanted to talk to me, it was easy for them to do so.
"I'll admit, at first I didn't know what to think. 'It goes on your neck? And you walk around with it? Really?' But when Jeff brought it home, we both put it right to use — and used it often.
"It really came in handy while I was checking work email or cooking dinner. I could put on background music, but unlike with headphones, I could also keep tabs on the kids in the next room. We have a two- and five-year-old, and low-key friendly playtime together can escalate into something else, really quick. So I have to stay aware.
"I thought it was more convenient than carrying around a speaker. As long as I had my phone, the music followed me. And the neckband is so light and comfortable, that you barely notice it after a while. In fact, I got home late from work one night, and heard the kids laughing. Jeff was chasing them around, trying to get them in bed, and he had the SoundWear speaker around his neck, powered off — he totally forgot he was wearing it!"
The SoundWear™ speaker's flexible, ergonomic design is modeled after the human spine.
It's no accident that the SoundWear speaker feels so natural and comfortable. Bose's ergonomic design is modeled after the human spine, so it's firm, but flexible. It moves with you fluidly whenever you reach up, bend down, or walk around. The silicone lining feels pleasant, and Bose includes a cloth cover for an even softer touch.
If someone calls while you're listening to music, the SoundWear speaker vibrates. It functions as a "speakerphone," but sounds much clearer than that term might imply. I usually think of speakerphones as those muffled old boxes that sit in the middle of boardrooms — the SoundWear is anything but.
Voices sounded completely natural on my end. And when I talked to my wife through the built-in mic, she told me it sounded better than the receiver on my smartphone.
I love everything about my SoundWear Companion...EXCEPT it's difficult to get the charging cord inside the protective cover do to the limited and awkward space behind the zipper. The 2 way volume control is difficult to modulate...should be more precise for the cost of this speaker.

They are GREAT, allows me to listen to things loudly and not bother others..!!
When I purchase this product from Crutchfield and took it on a road trip, I only got about 4 hours of play time before the battery ran down. I called Bose support and thegave me new software for the Soundwear. Now I am getting the 10-12 hours they advertise. I use my Ipod 128 GB and keep it in my shirt pocket. These are deffinitly more comfortable than headphones with good sound quality. I have had no problem with them wanting to fall of my neck.
Pros: Comfortable, good sound
Cons: Pain in the butt to get the plug in for recharging
I'm done with this unit. It skips incessantly while skiing and walking the dog. Bose has replaced it once already but this is a design flaw. Sound is good but not $300-good, and plugging in the charging cable is needlessly difficult unless you peel off the cover each time, which is also not easy. I will say, as a telephone headset, it totally rocks. But I need mine for music while skiing, so....
Pros: Rocks as a telephone headset
Cons: Skips a lot, especially during activity
I love everything about my SoundWear Companion...EXCEPT it's difficult to get the charging cord inside the protective cover do to the limited and awkward space behind the zipper. The 2 way volume control is difficult to modulate...should be more precise for the cost of this speaker.
Excellent product. Exceeded my expectations
Finally got to try a Bose product and now I know why they are highly rated! Incredible and they are comfortable on your neck. The app for this product was easy to install and use. I am definitely a repeat buyer.
Pros: Great sound,comfortable, reasonably priced.
It is very comfortable, with just a slight amount of weight to it; nothing that should be bothersome and looks like it stays out. I don't know about running with something like this, so just keep that in mind. Sound quality is very good, good bass, but not overpowering. It is not a device you can wear and believe only you will be able to hear it. It would require being on its lowest volume level, however if you would like something to use at home that allows you to be aware of your surroundings, this fits the bill quite nicely.
Pros: Great Sound
Cons: Can be heard regardless of volume level, even at its lowest setting
4+ sleeve is a tight fit but otherwise it all works-SCW
Incredible sound quality! Comfortable walking and working...worth every penny!
Pros: Comfortable, user friendly, incredible sound.
This is amazing product especially for the people who attend many telecom meetings or attend calls during their drive. I was initially debating whether to spend the money for this product. After I started using the product I feel it is worth every penny. I hope Bose comes up with next genaration product, more sleeker, light weight design.
Pros: Great noise cancellation for far end listener. Great battery life. Good Sound quality.
Cons: Volume control is buggy (unpredictable) if two devices connected. Little heavy in weight (but still comfortable). You feel vibrations while listening to music with more bass.
Another Fantastic Bose Product What's not to love! I love music. Music playing all the time. Music over tv. I have many different Bose earphones ands speakers. Even my auto has Bose. I love them all. And this is no different. I love to listen to music loud. I find that I do not need to turn this up as loud as I normally do with earbuds because it hangs around my neck. I get all the sound I want! When I am out walking and excersizing I like this better as I can still "hear" the other people and vehicles coming up behind me yet I am still in my own world. The battery life on this is incredible and the fact that I can buy a skin to the change the color on the soundwear speaker means I will never tire of it ( as if) and be able to color co ordinate it if the mood or whim strikes me! I wanted to like this. I did. And I do. But I didn't want to love this....and I do!! Bose hit another one out of the park! If there is a CON to this it is that I wear this SO much during work outs and yard work that I have perspired on it and I wonder how to get the perspiration out of the cover and if it will eventually hurt the unit itself. Bose says a little sweat or a lot of sun are ok on this little unit. I want to share it with my friends and family, but will need to purchase that separate cover first before I do just because. Then again, I may never let it out of my hands again!! No bother! I still won't be without this amazing unit!!
Love this speaker. I wear it all the time and have great sound for music and audible books. I have very little vision so sound is very important. Could not be happier.
Bose has released yet another great product that seemed to be innovative at first, but has some drawbacks. Here are some of the key points of the product: Connectivity: Easy to first connect to a device and improved connection compared to last year's products. Battery life is pretty good. Looks/comfort: Looks a little different, in a weird way, and you may get some odd looks in public from people not knowing what it is around your neck. It is rather comfortable though, thanks to the cover that goes on it - something that is also available separately in different colors, but it does have a bit more weight compared to headphones as far as wearing a sound product goes. Usability: Extremely easy to use through the buttons on the side. Easy to accept or decline phone calls and you get a familiar vibration when someone tries to call you. The Bose Connect app also is easy to use and get basic information or make basic adjustments to the speaker (such as adjusting the bass). Although, the Connect app has to option to increase the bass, only decrease it... Innovative? Well the main claim is that it is a speaker with your music being played in your own 'bubble.' That holds true for the most part, except there are factors of how loud your music is, how far away someone is from you as well as someone else's hearing. Sound quality: Smooth, balanced and detailed in typical Bose fashion, but the music sounds more distant than being on your neck and also slightly distor
Pros: Connectivity. Durability. Usability. Battery life. Overall comfort. Basic customization (covers).
Cons: Overall sound quality. Other's may be able to hear your music if they are near you. Can not boost bass ( Connect app). Can not adjust other sound qualities of music ( Connect app). Looks/style.
I enjoy listening to music and using any technology that makes it easy and fun is always a plus. This device was easy to set up. Easy to use. And very comfortable.
Having to wear hearing aids daily, headphones always cause feedback and screeching; removing my hearing aids to use headphones causes a imbalance of sound (left ear has significantly greater hearing loss). This product solves all those problems
Pros: Great compatibility with hearing aids
Cons: Wish it was a little lighter on the shoulders
SOUND QUALITY The sound from these companion speakers is excellent. Mind you, this isn't a headphone product, so the sound is not immersive, but that is actually the point of the SoundWear Companion Speaker. While other people around you can hear the sound, that sound comes fully to life once you rest the SoundWear on your shoulders. It is so pleasant. The sound is rich and well balanced. You will thoroughly enjoy it. Trust me. BUILD QUALITY The SoundWear Companion Speaker really is a unique device. It is lightweight but will rest confidently on your shoulders. The entire product is wrapped in a high quality sleeve and looks like the usual speaker screening. The bottom part of the sleeve that rests on your shoulders is a comfortable non-slip material. And the entire sleeve can be removed for easy hand cleaning. Inside that sleeve, the Bose product is constructed of plastic with a protective silicone casing. It looks and feels solid. The neckband portion is quite flexible to make putting it on you and taking it off of you very simple. Along the SoundWear's edges, there are Power and Bluetooth connection buttons on the left, and the usual playback controls are over on the right. Each are raised and easy to identify by feel through the sleeve. And the micro USB charging port is accessed just under the zipper of the sleeve. It's a little cumbersome to access, but it's not difficult, either. iOS/ANDROID APP I have an iPhone, so I us
Pros: Sound is superb. Lightweight, but rests confidently on your shoulders. Your music follows you, but you can maintain awareness of your surroundings.
Cons: Can't do vigorous exercises. Others might not want to hear your music when you're around them.
As with all Bose products they arrive extremely well packaged. Opened the package and removed the SoundWear, pressed the on button, paired to my iPhone immediately and I was introduced to incredible sound. I have the QuietControl 30 headphones, I assumed the controls were similar so I used the SoundWear controls in the same manner and the system worked flawlessly. I have enjoyed using the SoundWear Companion for a few weeks now and yes they are incredible. Once again Bose has captured high tones and deep rich sound with an amazing product. The sound is very clean and crisp with no noticeable distortion. Provides a very noticeable vibration when receiving a phone call. Long lasting power so you can enjoy even more of your favorite music. I find myself picking the SoundWear Companion up and using it constantly, very convenient. I am definitely recommending the Bose SoundWear Speaker.
Pros: Stylish and Simple and easy use. Crisp clean deep rich sound. Listen to music or talk on the phone while remaining connected to your surrounding environment. Light default in sound to notify you when you receive a message or email. Light weight, you won't know you're wearing the SoundWear Companion. Solid quality construction. Simple to adjust to your own personal comfort. You can form the SoundWear to your shoulders or set it down on a solid surface and listen to your music
Cons: Depending on the volume you've set it's possible for those around you to hear your music or phone calls etc.
i love this hands free wireless Bluetooth speaker! I have ear buds which are great to but these are light weight and don't block out surrounding noises as much. Makes bike riding and running a lot safer. My boys just love them! They are light weight well made and very easy to use. The app is easy also. Perfect gift for anyone that does a lot of activities and need to be hands free. Great job Bose for another great product!!
Pros: Hands free, wireless, Bluetooth, light weight, easy to use, sounds great, and can make calls!
Cons: I don't have any yet
I really like these speakers and do recommend them. I'm so glad i decided to try them out. They're comfortable, sound great, and are extremely practical. They rest around your neck/shoulders very comfortably and are shaped in a way that allows you to hear the music without being isolated from what's happening around you - plus those around you can't really hear unless they're practically standing next to you. They're also great for hands free phone calls. I wear them around the house, hiking, backyard, watching a movie at home, in the car, etc. i've even figured out a way how to wear them when i'm lying down (you place them around your neck/chest). They're truly innovative in that it almost feels like you have your own personal surround sound following you wherever you go. I prefer them over my headphones and have been wearing them in the office to listen to music and to make phone calls. They also have a button for me to activate siri on my phone. They're also water and sweat resistant. They take about 3 hours to charge and can operate for about 12 hours. You can even replace the cover. They're just the right weight (not too light and not heavy) and don't slip off your shoulder easily. The sound is amazingly clear - definitely what you'd expect from a Bose product. I've gotten them connected to my mac desktop, cell phone and iPad. Toggling between any of them is easy. they're so comfortable that i've left my office with them on. Great conversation starters.
Pros: great sound, practical, comfortable, sturdy, long range, long lasting power, good looking, great for phone calls, music and movies sound excellent
Cons: not completely silent to those around you
I agreed to review this product in order get an excellent sound source for my Bluetooth devices ie. my android cell phone and tablet. The acoustic sound quality was excellent; it made me feel as if I was in a sound proof room. The ability to adjust the volume was very easy. I had my son try this Sound Wear Companion speaker with his I-Phone and was amazed at the clarity of phone calls and music. At first, I thought it seemed to be slightly heavy on my neck however after wearing it for a few minutes I didn't notice it at all. When I received cell phone calls it was so easy able to talk hands free and yet the people I spoke with said the sound quality was very clear without any static. For anyone who dislikes having things put in their ears.this would be the perfect alternative. I would definitely recommend the Bose Sound Wear Companion to my family and friends.
The SoundWear Companion has Awesome sound!! Right out of the box it was a bit odd looking, I thought. It was super easy to pair with my phone, tablet and computer. It has buttons on the side for sound, pairing and on and off. The sound that came out of this is Awesome and super clear, but others around me could hear noise coming out of it, not that they could hear the clear sound I could they still could hear noise, so it is not private listening. The only downfall that I can see is for me is after wearing it for an hour or so it became annoying to have it around my neck, it is not super light or heavy but it has to have some weight to it so it does not fall off. I like that there is a cover for it which makes it a bit more comfortable. Overall I would say that the SoundWear Companion is a Great product with Awesome sound
Pros: Awesome sound, easy pairing
Cons: after awhile it became annoying for me to have around my neck
I'll be honest, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect when I got this. I didn't know how I would like fact that people can hear my conversations if I'm out. BUT..... It is fabulous. The speaker is loud enough for me to hear, but not for others, unless they are next to me. I listen to books all the time, and it is great to be able to listen with such clarity. The sound quality is wonderful - as you would expect from Bose. Phone calls are also something that I am impressed with. People can hear me very well, and I don't need to adjust the collar. The on/off and volume buttons are easily accessible and it's super easy to charge. The only concern I have is that after a time, it does seem a bit heavy. Of course this comes after wearing for about 3-4 hours. All in all, it is a wonderful hands-free product, that I would strongly suggest.
Pros: Great sound quality, wonderful hand-free phone, audible books, music etc. You can wear this anywhere/everywhere. It doesn't get in the way.
Cons: does get slightly heavy after wearing 3-4 hours
Summary At first I questioned the use for the Bose SoundWear Speaker, as it has a very unique design. I will start off you have to have the right environment or place to use listen to this product. I used this product mainly while at work, at the gym and while washing the car. I have also had the opportunity to wear it while riding my bike at the beach. This is a great device for having good sound while, being able to hear the people and surroundings around you. A big plus for buying this speaker is you do not have to constantly be pulling out your ear buds every time someone says a word to you. Design Bose did a great job building this speaker with their use of high quality materials. The speaker includes a leatherette and cotton/polyester cover that covers the entire speaker, including all buttons. The cover has printed indicators of the buttons underneath. I wore a black shirt and with the black cover, no one could tell I had the speaker around my neck. Bose offers different colored covers as accessories so that you can match your taste and fashion. I also liked the weight, comparing this product to headphones, this product is fairly light and can be worn for hours without any fatigue. The buttons are conveniently located and help you pause, fast forward and rewind music tracks. This speaker is also water resistant, so I am able to wash my car, hear my surroundings and not worry about water overspray damaging the speaker. Battery life is very great. I am e
Pros: Light Weight Bass You Can Hear and Feel Being Able to Listen to Music Without Headphones/Earbuds
Cons: No Hardcase Included Delay Using Siri
Light weight with perfect, clear and chrisp sound. The Bose SoundWear Companion is perfect for the person with the busy lifestyle. The water resistant material is perfect for usage while working out. The great design which comes in various colors is perfect. The buttons are easy to access and it holds a long charge plus very easy to connect via bluetooth makes the Bose SoundWear so convenient and a must have. Bose once again has hit a homerun with the creation of the SoundWear. I love it and you shall too. I recommend every household own one and take back full control of your handsfree phone calls and enjoy your music, now with perfect, deep and enjoyable sound.
Pros: Lightweight, design, sound, ease of use, long battery life, water resistance, and variety of colors
The Bose SoundWear Companion speaker offers a compromise between the personal listening of headphones, and spacial awareness of listening to speakers. It sounds great - voices sing with energy, bass notes play deep (as deep as 40 hz), and treble is detailed without being fatiguing. The SoundWear forms a small "sphere of sound" around you, and that's a cool effect. General usage of the device is smooth as expected from any Bose product; Bluetooth connection is consistent and strong, and can go through a couple walls in a home. Battery life is just around the claimed 12 hours. Also the option to adjust the amount of bass in the Bose Connect App is very nice, although I preferred the default setting. Playback controls work on both iOS and Android, and the speaker can connect to two devices at once. So... on paper the Bose SoundWear is great. However, I found myself struggling to find good opportunities to use the SoundWear. They can't be used in public because they broadcast sound to everyone. They can't be used on the road because bass gets drowned out by road noise. They can't be used during exercise because they don't stay put. However, they are great for general purpose listening around the house. If you often listen to music through speakers, but would like the convenience of moving around with your audio, the SoundWear would do a great job.
Pros: Sounds great, even better with the cover off. Easy to use.
Cons: Limited usage scenarios.
I've had the Bose SoundWear Companion for a couple of weeks now, and while I am impressed by the extremely clear details in music and videos, and impressive bass audio, I am also trying to think of ways this speaker could be useful. I was mostly impressed by how the speaker preformed while watching a movie, every detail and every sound effect can be heard from this comportabole, flexible speaker. Yes listening to music sounds good as well, but I found that playing a Bose Soundlink Bluetooth Speaker (in my case the Revolve +) has deeper bass and more range. This is something you may want to consider when spending a bold 300 dollars. I'm excited about how the SoundWear sounds, but not it's price tag. Keep in mind that with 300$ you could buy the Soundlink Relvolve+, the SoundTouch 10, Bose's new Soundsport Free earphones, Soundlink over ear headphones, or almost three of the new Soundlink Micro Speakers. That's many options you should think about when buying this. The SoundWear's biggest use I believe, is taking and receiving calls.
Pros: Sounds great for it's size Able to call and use Siri Comfortable on neck
Cons: Little use
Love this technology. I use it to play music while playing guitar. Brings me up close and able to hear the music much clearer. Also allows me to walk around the house and keep the music going. Lost one star because I like to lean back on my chair allowing the Soundwear to to slip backwards off my neck. May need a front strap to avoid this. Bottom line, I would order it again!
Pros: Allows the music or conversation travel with you.
Cons: As outlined above and others can hear it around you which may bother them.
I've been using SoundWear speaker for about a month now and I defintely enjoy it. It is nice to have when I moving around the house and also when I'm sitting at the computer. Make no bones about it, this is a niche product. The sound is excellent with an amount of bass that surprised me. The sound isn't the same as in ear buds or over the ear cans but it separates itself from those products in that you can hear what is going on around you while drowning out a lot of background noise. You don't "feel" the sound in your head like those but the SoundWear has fairly full spectrum rich sound that is just different. Somewhere between headphones and a detached speaker. They are light, comfortable, and they look great. There is a small Bose branding but nothing obnoxious. The only downsides that I've found are that people around can hear the speaker while you are wearing it. It wouldn't be perfect for a cubicle or in a room with other people watching TV or having a conversation unless you have the sound turned way down. In a room or office with a door closed they are perfect. They stay on and don't bounce around when walking but they wouldn't be good for jogging or running at all. I had my two elementary age children try them on and they fit them well and they said they were very comfortable. My only other "issue" with them is that you have to unzip the cover on them slightly to get to the micro usb charging port. All I said I highly recommend them.
From the moment I pulled the Companion speaker out of the box, it has been easy to use. Downloading and connecting to the app were simple processes. I use the speaker all around my house. It is easier to use and more comfortable than any wireless headphones I've tried. I can leave my phone and wander around my house doing chores or cooking dinner without having to touch or adjust anything. It's perfect for walking the dogs and still being aware of your surroundings. I have many meetings, and the speaker is great for listening to them without having to use headphones.
Pros: Multi-purpose use. Excellent sound quality and bluetooth connectivity.
Finally a sound system you can wear and still be able to hear your kids or a train coming if riding bike. The sound is amazing and it is very nice to be able to hear my kids in the background. It fits nice around my shoulders and my granddaughters . It is flexible and can be bent to fit right. The only thing I wish they would add is a retractable clasp to be able to secure the soundwear so it can't fall off if bumped or wind blown off. It can be connected to 2 devices at the same time . If a call comes in it will pause and answer it . It also connects to Siri and you can ask it questions. It will be so nice for people who have issues wearing things on their ears. The sound is amazingly good and it will be a great gift for Christmas or birthdays. I love mine!
Pros: Sound is amazing! I can still hear my kids or trains etc . I can use on 2 devices at the same time. I can answer my phone with it and talk on it.
Cons: I feel it should have a retractable clasp on it I case I need use while riding bike or running. Just something to secure them so they can't be bumped or blown off.
I have been using the Soundwear Bose Speaker for about a month. It is lightweight and durable. When you have it on the quality of sound is awesome. You can still take calls, listen to music, and be aware of what's going on in your surroundings. I highly recommend this product to all my family and friends. I have enjoyed this product immensely.
Pros: Good quality sound
Cons: None noted
I enjoyed using this product. I was able to use this speaker around my neck so that my hands are free to do other things. The one thing I didn't like was the fact that if you were making a call, everyone around could hear. The sound quality of this is awesome. It was able to drown out sound around me.
Pros: Sound and relaxation while wearing the product.
Cons: Can be sweaty on bare neck
When I saw this product all I could think was is this going to be comfortable? or too heavy to wear but I was wrong it's very comfortable very light I wear the companion when I'm cleaning it never loses signal in the house my iPhone or iPad can be in the kitchen I go to the rooms and it still sounds great with no interruptions the sound is amazing we have used it as a speaker during get togethers and people just love it the battery once charge full will last for hours and days on standby it so easy to use and charging is very fast my overall experience with the Bose Soundwear Companion is a great one I have no complaints of you are looking to buy a speaker that gives you great clear sound and works with most of your devices this is it!!
This is my first ever Bose product and after hearing so many amazing things about them, I figured I'd give it a try! Boy, am I glad I did! This speaker is amazing! The sound quality is perfect, it doesn't get that tinny sound to it when you turn it up full blast like you get with most Bluetooth speakers. With it being on the highest volume setting, you can hear it from quite a distance away and it's perfect for decent sized parties, where it's too small for a DJ but too big not to have some music playing. It's even perfect for those "fancy" get togethers, as the design is so new age that it looks like a new age piece of art that you have on display in the center of your room or wherever you decide to place it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for something small and loud with a good quality sound. It definitely has the amazing quality that Bose is said to always brings to the table!
The Bose SoundWear is a very surprising device for me. So, let's divide the experience in positive aspects and places to improve so we cover it all: POSITIVE: 1. Quality, as a Bose enthusiast, the quality of their product is something that has always capture my attention. Makes me happy to feel the good materials, the awesome design and overall 2. Design: I know that design is a very subjective matter but, I like this device A LOT. I find it elegant and subtle and not to "in your face" 3. Freedom: I had an ear surgery long time ago that prevents me to listen to music for an extended period with earphones so, when I saw this... Was the answer for my problems. 4. Sound: is remarkable how great and pure the sound from this device is. That make me realize how well designed this device is. Well done Bose TO IMPROVE: 1. Power: Linked with the 4th of the positive, yes, the sound is very good quality but, it lacks power, which is not surprising based on the purpose of this device. 2. Limited usability: Sometimes you just want to relax in a place that happen to have a lot of people around (like your office), put on your earphones and get immerse in a universe of good music (whichever you prefer the most). This device, though is awesome, is not suitable for this situation because, everyone will hear what you are listening and, in the office, will be very distracted... That's why I say the usability is limited, because is not appropriate for any other situation
Pros: 1. Quality, awesome materials 2. Design: Elegant, beautiful 3. Freedom: Hands and ears free, sounds obvious to point it out but, is a game changer 4. Sound quality: Yeah, Bose knows how to make you smile
Cons: 1. Power: Not the strongest sound I've ever experienced 2. Limited usability: Please refer to the review for more details
Not sure what niche Bose is targeting with this product. Beautiful sound in a solid design. But the bass in this unit, even turned down, causes discomfort. Might just be my ears, but the angle and bass jars my inner ear. As a personal speaker, the sound still carries to the next cubicle. Quieter than a speaker but still audible. No really a product for anyplace but a private or alone place.
Pros: Great design and sound quality.
Cons: Heavy on the neck and heavy bass and vibration cause discomfort.
This is what I would have to call what they say "to think outside the box" when BOSE designed it. Something different yet very usable. You do not have to block out whats around you while you wear these neck/shoulder speakers. People can hear what you hear so you are not alone with these playing your tunes. You have to get to know what to do and when where you are doing it wearing these speakers. Sound clear enough for you?
Pros: You no longer have to block out the world around you to know what is going on wearing these Neck Speakers.
Cons: Could be a little smaller and more battery life.
Once again Bose has done it again with a great product!. The Companion offers great sound, including impressive bass and highs, from such a little speaker. The power and sound buttons are conveniently located in easy reach if you don't happen to have your smartphone close at hand in order to use the great Bose Connect app. With the Connect app your also able to have 2 devices linked to The Companion. This lightweight speaker is very comfortable to wear with a durable, zippered cloth covering. Charging the speaker is simple when using the provided charging cable. The speaker holds a charge for several hours, with continuous use at moderate volume, I get approximately 12 hours of play time. That's impressive from a wearable speaker system. Overall, this is an amazing wearable for the price and Bose excels again in quality, performance, and user-friendly control. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
What a unique way to listen to your music. Bose has a new bluetooth speaker that sits on your shoulders. The music comes up from your shoulders and right into your ears. It is amazingly comfortable and lightweight. It is completely padded so it sits really nice on your neck and shoulders. It has very simple instructions that are very easy to follow and set up. Once synced with your bluetooth on your phone you can just put it on and listen to your music. And the sound is very nice and soothing. It can be heard by people that are close by and I am wondering if something with ear buds might be easier, but then those things in your ears start to hurt after a while too. I am wondering how this would be on a plane when there is so much other noise going on around you. I don't think anyone would hear unless you had it turned up high and then it would probably hurt your ears!! Clever invention I think. A great way to enjoy your favorite tunes while working on your computer. Soothing and relaxing. And the sound is awesome, just what you would expect from a product made by Bose. The padding is nice. It doesn't feel like you have a weight on your shoulders and neck at all. It rests comfortably. When you first turn it on it tells you how much battery time is left and that is great. It does come with the charging cable too. Everything is in the box that you need. Just set it up and then listen to the incredible sounds that come out of it. Bose just keeps coming up with inno
Pros: rests comfortably, easy to set up, nice sound
Cons: others around you can hear your sound too
I wanted this product so that I could use it on my daily walks, and to be more aware of my surroundings while doing so. I have not been disappointed with the performance of this wearable speaker, and I have even found myself using it for more than just walks. I use it in the house when I'm working on my laptop, cooking, cleaning, etc. It allows me to enjoy my music but also allows me to be alert in case my family needs me while I'm doing the aforementioned things. The design is very bulky, yet it is still very comfortable to wear. It is also easy to set up, and I love being able to access my Google Assistant by holding down the multi-function button. It has great battery life, and is sweat and weather resistant so I do think that it will be durable over time. This is a great product that I would recommend to family and friends as I truly enjoy this speaker.
Pros: *Great Sound. *Great Battery Life. *Comfortable.
Cons: *Bulky. *Price.
The Bose SoundWear Companion portable speaker....what can I say about another awesome Bose product? This lightweight speaker is very comfortable with a durable, zippered cloth covering. Charging the speaker is simple when using the provided charging cable. The Companion offers great sound, including impressive bass and highs, from such a little speaker. The power and sound buttons are conveniently located in easy reach if you don't happen to have your smartphone close at hand in order to use the great Bose Connect app. Speaking of power, this speaker holds a charge for several hours. From decent, continuous use with a moderate volume, I get approximately 12 hours of play time. That's impressive from a wearable speaker system. Overall, this is an amazing wearable for the price and Bose excels again in quality, performance, and user-friendly control. I give this speaker 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.
Better than I thought it would be and no problem to set up to use. Clarity and quality excellent.

SoundWear Companion Speaker: The new Bose SoundWear Companion speaker rests comfortably on your shoulders with sound that is full and clear to you, yet minimizes the sound for others. The SoundWear Companion speaker offers wearable convenience, wireless Bluetooth connectivity and great sound in a way that allows you to be present with your music as well as your surroundings.
Upward-Facing Drivers w/ Waveguide Technology: Every part of the Bose SoundWear Companion speaker is meticulously engineered for better sound. Upward-facing speakers, pointed precisely toward your ears, maximize what you hear while minimizing it for others. These two drivers push air through two flexible 11" waveguides in the neckband to ports on opposite ends for deep, rich sound all around you.
Comfortable Neckband: The Bose SoundWear Companion speaker is made from materials engineered to be comfortable & lightweight for all-day wearability. The SoundWear Companion speaker is also adjustable to conform to your neck for a comfortable fit. It uses a bend-and-stay steel wire encased in medical-grade silicone that has just the right amount of low-spring torsion to stay form-fitted to your shoulders.
Note: Avoid excessively bending the speaker; only invert the flexible speaker ends when removing or attaching the cover. Do not bend the speaker so that it folds back on itself and do not tightly wrap the speaker around objects. Use caution when storing the speaker to avoid crushing it.
Sweat & Weather Resistant: The Bose SoundWear Companion speaker was subjected to rigorous product testing to ensure durability. It is sweat and water resistant (IPX4), so it can withstand a light splash of water. Do Not swim or shower with this speaker, and ever submerge the speaker in any pool of water.
Voice Guided Multi-Device Pairing: Voice prompts talk you through Bluetooth pairing, making it simple to wirelessly connect your Bluetooth-enabled source device to the Bose SoundWear Companion speaker. The SoundWear Companion speaker keeps track of the last eight devices to have paired with it, dropping the least recently used when a new one is paired. It even allows you to keep two Bluetooth source devices connected at once for easier switching between devices (however, it will only receive audio from one device at a time). The Bose SoundWear Companion speaker will automatically re-connect with an already paired Bluetooth source device when it is in wireless range (up to 30').
Wireless Music Streaming: Thanks to the support for Bluetooth A2DP & AVRCP, you can stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth source device to the Bose SoundWear Companion speaker. You also get basic playback controls like Volume Up/Down, Play/Pause, and Previous/Next Track from the SoundWear Companion speaker's top-panel buttons. The Bose SoundWear Companion speaker has a range of approximately 30', so you can enjoy your music without wires. If you are using a smartphone and a phone call comes in, your music will be interrupted until the phone call ends. Once the phone call ends, your music will automatically resume.
Note: The SoundWear Companion should not be used for gaming, since the audio/video delay will be excessive and most noticeable in games where action and audio are supposed to be synchronized.
Hands-Free Speakerphone: The Bose SoundWear Companion speaker also features a built-in mic, so you can use the SoundWear Companion speaker as a speakerphone for your smartphone. The built-in mic will be used to carry on your side of the conversation, while the other party is heard through the SoundWear Companion's speakers. You can use the SoundWear Companion speaker's 3-button control to answer, end, and reject calls. The SoundWear Companion speaker notifies you of an incoming call by vibrating. The SoundWear Companion speaker can even access the voice dialing functions of your smartphone and audibly indentify incoming callers (when applicable).
Digital Voice Assistance: The SoundWear Companion speaker's built-in mic can even act as an extension of the microphone on your Apple iPhone 4S and newer or compatible Android smartphone, so you can access Siri & Android's digital voice assistant (like Google Now).
Bose Connect App: Control the SoundWear Companion speaker's Bluetooth connections and manage bass adjustments easily through the Bose Connect app (for Apple iOS 9.0+ and Android OS 5.0+) on your compatible Apple iOS or Android mobile device. The app also provides product tips and lets you personalize your settings.
Control Buttons: There are 3 control buttons on the right side of the speaker. The larger middle button is a multi-function button; it initiates play/pause and other track controls for music, answer/end calls, and your phone's virtual assistant (like Siri). The buttons on either side of the multi-function button are volume up/down buttons. There are also 2 control buttons on the left side of the speaker for power on/off and Bluetooth pairing.
Rechargeable Battery: The SoundWear Companion speaker is equipped with a built-in rechargeable battery that provides up to 12 hours of use. The battery can be charged using the speaker's microUSB port, the supplied USB cable, and a USB port on a computer or a wall charger (sold separately). Allow up to 3 hours for the speaker's battery to fully charge. A quick 15 minute charge powers the speaker for up to 2 hours. The speaker's battery indicators glow solid white, and a voice prompt announces the battery level.
Note: The SoundWear Companion speaker does not function or playback music while charging.
Swappable Covers: The SoundWear Companion speaker includes an acoustically transparent Black cover. Other optional colors are available - including Heather Gray, Midnight Blue ,and Dark Plum (all sold separately from Bose).

Great reviews, free shipping and good prior shopping experience with Crutchfield! I work in a factory that does not allow earphones/headphones to be worn because of safety concerns and this product seems like it will be the next best thing, maybe better! [ sean Jan 27, 2018 ]
Time to check to latest TecKie stuff. [ RONALD Oct 03, 2017 ]
To me they seem to be very stable. I have never had them come close to falling off. They adjustable and weighted. I don't think you could do gymnastics however. [ Paul Nov 28, 2017 ]
For me, this works well for everything except, running/jogging and bending over to pick stuff up. For doing either running/jogging or a lot of bending over, I would suggest Bose head phones or ear buds. [ Dean Nov 28, 2017 ]
If you are moving around a lot they will fall off. The sound quality is amazing, however it has to meet your intentions first... [ Craig Nov 26, 2017 ]
I found them to easily fall off [ ERIC Nov 26, 2017 ]
You can tuck the speaker under your shirt which helps keep it in place. [ Chester Nov 26, 2017 ]
They will fall off. There is nothing holding them in place-use earbuds instead. [ RONALD Nov 26, 2017 ]
Craig nailed it! The black cover comes in the box with the speaker. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101 [ Paul Oct 17, 2017 ] Staff
