About the Clarion MW1
Meet Ken Nail
My name is Ken. I seek the Holy Grail of car audio excellence. My favorite color is blue.
I came to Crutchfield in 1999. During my six years as a Crutchfield Advisor, I learned a lot about the technology behind great car and home audio. I learned even more about what people wanted in their car stereo systems.
I've been a writer for car audio and fitness tech at Crutchfield since 2005. Over the last few years, I've also carved out a niche producing demo videos for our in-dash car stereos. The hands-on experience I get with car stereos while doing video production is an invaluable aid to me in learning about their exciting features. This helps me convey that information to our customers when I write about the stereo on our website.
Before coming to Crutchfield, I spent 10 years teaching music in Charlottesville area schools. I keep my musical interests satisfied by volunteering as a classical music DJ at a local community radio station, and I stay up to date with the latest in outdoor tech by cycling, running, and backpacking.
Fun facts: I've completed an Ironman triathlon, run the Boston Marathon, hiked 1150 miles of the Appalachian Trail, and lost on Jeopardy!

Control your Clarion
Control your Clarion
The MW1 wired remote control lets you manage your Clarion marine receiver from a remote location with ease. You'll be able to change sources, switch radio bands, and also adjust the volume, track selection, toggle play/pause and more — all while checking out your changes on the built-in LCD display. If you've got a big boat, you can add up to three remotes to control a single receiver.
This remote is compatible with compatible with select Clarion marine receivers (see Details tab for complete list).
Note: The MW1 remote comes with a 1-foot cable, so you'll want to purchase Clarion's 25-foot extension cable for installation.
I've got one of these in my boat. Wish I would have added it a long time ago. It's awesome and looks awesome too! I can control my Ipod with it since I have the Ipod cable hooked up. Sit in the water and drink beer and flip thru your music.

Is this unit compatible with the Clarion 505 stereo deck?
Yes the wired remote should work. The owners manual for a 505 has the option for the wired remote. The remote works pretty good sometimes it is a little slow with the display but works well.
