I bought this remote with the M608 receiver. I like the look and style of it and having a volume knob instead of buttons was a plus. However, it will control the receiver, but only limited functions will work. I contacted Clarion support because there was no user manual, operation handbook etc. and they told there was none. This remote is designed to work with the CMS4 and CMS5 receiver. The display will mirror the receiver on those units. So, I essentially have a fancy volume control, preset selector, and mute button. I like the look of it on my dash, so I'm going to keep it, but save your money and get the MW1 if you don't have the CMS4 or 5.
Pros: Nice screen, visible in direct sunlight, color screen, volume knob
Cons: Limited functions unless with CMS4, no user manual or instructions

Terribly Disappointed in this Remote! I Installed 2 remotes, 1 at the Helm and 1 at Transom. The main reason for a remote in those positions is for volume control. The Volume Control on the remote is worthless. The communication between the remote and head unit don't mesh at all! It's like the software needs an update. If you try to turn the volume down 2 notches, it may go up three notches, it could do nothing, it could go up 10 notches, or down 10 notches. I'm embarrassed for Clarion for releasing this product.

I purchased this remote to replace my MW1 remote, which is connected to my CMD6 headunit. I wanted to love the MW4, as I have been looking for a remote with knob style volume control for quite a while. This remote is complete garbage. When you turn the knob, it takes about 3 seconds for the headunit and remote to react. Lets say you turn the remote down 3 volume clicks. Count 1-2-3, then the volume goes down to which you need to count an additional 1-2-3. If you turn the knob down 3 clicks and then back up 2 clicks, the lag time takes the volume down 3 clicks and then back up 2 clicks. This operation takes no shorter than 5 seconds. This remote is very glitchy and lags. I was thinking of purchasing a new M606 headunit to see if this resolves the problem, but I am hesitant.
Pros: Knob style volume control
Cons: Lagging response and glitchy

Note that this rating is based on the MW4 operating an older Clarion CMD6. Using this remote with Clarion's current marine head units may unlock its full potential. Functionally, the MW4 is no easier or more difficult to use than the MW1 & 2. The color screen has a blue background. The title data or menu data displayed on the screen is very small and only uses a third of the available screen space. The lack luster visuals of the screen and the fact that the functionality is exactly the same as Clarion's less expensive remotes are the reason for the 3 rating. Again, I am grateful that the MW4 operates with such a wide range of Clarion's units and using an up to date head unit may be the ticket for its full potential.
Pros: Good basic functionality to control your head unit remotely. Easy to install Good looks
Cons: No better functionality than Clarion's less expensive remotes Lack luster display (using with an older Clarion CMD 6)

It was hard to find information on this product before purchase so I took a chance and just ordered it. The product is very disappointing and appears to need work on the firmware. The interface looks nothing like the screenshots shown on the box or Clarion marketing materials. You basically get the same display and functionality as with their MW1 remote (which this was going to replace). Also the interface is Very sluggish. Turing the volume knob has a delay and the screen is slow to update. Meta data titles still scroll in a small portion of the screen instead of taking advantage of the full width. I figured this remote would make scrolling through SiriusXM channels and iPOD interface songs much easier. Nope. Works the same as their other remotes. No listings, just one song at a time. Needless to say I will be returning this.
Pros: No pros over their MW1 remote.
Cons: - Sluggish interface - No instructions included - Interface looks nothing like screenshots shown on marketing materials
