Bring out the best in your audio system with Yamaha's A-S1000 integrated amplifier. And it offers plenty of power too, delivering 90 full-bandwidth-rated watts to each of your stereo speakers — you'll enjoy clean, undistorted audio, even during your music's most demanding passages. Wide-range frequency response lets you experience all the details on your LPs, CDs, and even high-resolution SACDs and DVD-Audio discs in stereo mode.

Exceptionally clean, pure sound
The A-S1000 employs many of the same high-end features as the top-of-the-line A-S2000, including Yamaha's unique power amplifier design. It isolates the "plus" and "minus" sides of each channel, ensuring exceptionally clean, pure sound with minimal levels of noise and distortion. This amp is also a great choice for record lovers — it can handle signals from MM (moving magnet) cartridges, as well as from more demanding MC (moving coil) cartridges.

Use tone controls without sacrificing audio quality
Many amps offer direct modes that let you bypass tone control circuitry for optimum sound quality. But you don't have to choose between audio quality and properly balanced sound with the A-S1000. Its volume and tone controls are wired in parallel — this allows you to adjust treble and bass to your liking, without muddying your music.

A strong, vibration-resistant build
This integrated amplifier boasts a thoughtful, rock-solid design. Yamaha organized the left and right channels into a straight, symmetrical layout, keeping the signal path short and the sound clean. High-end internal components — such as extruded aluminum heat sinks and custom-made capacitors — allow the A-S1000 to handle demanding passages effortlessly. An anti-resonant base, rigid center bar, and height-adjustable steel feet provide a sturdy, vibration-resistant foundation.

Connections and convenience
This integrated amp offers enough inputs to connect six audio components, including a turntable. Two sets of main speaker outputs let you connect an additional pair of speakers. Separate preamp input/line-level output jacks allow you to use the A-S1000 as an independent power amplifier or preamp for future system expansion. And the included remote gives you easy control of the amplifier and the other Yamaha audio components in your system.

Audio Features

Overview: The Yamaha A-S1000 Integrated Stereo Amplifier features a built-in two-channel amplifier with A & B speaker outputs and six analog inputs.

Floating Balanced Circuit Design: The perfectly symmetrical, fully new floating balanced power amplifier maximizes the performance of the analog amplifier by reducing distortion and noise.

Independent Power Supplies: The stereo amplifier features four independent high-capacity power supplies.

Aluminum Front-Panel and Heavyweight Feet: The A-S1000 features an aluminum front-panel and newly developed heavyweight feet to suppress vibrations. The foot-height of the unit is adjustable.

ToP-ART/High Current Amplification: Yamaha uses the ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) design concept, which combines the latest and best technologies, parts, and circuit designs, to maximize sound quality. High Current Amplification uses superior quality components from input to output to achieve high current power with low impedance.

High Current Stereo Amplifier: The Yamaha A-S1000 features a highly dynamic, powerful stereo amplifier with low impedance drive capability. The stereo amplifier is rated at 90 watts x 2-channel at 20-20kHz, in 8-ohms with 0.02% THD; 105 watts x 2-channel at 20-20kHz, in 6-ohm with 0.02% THD; and 140 watts x 2-channel at 20-20kHz, in 4-ohm with 0.02% THD.

Triple Parallel Electronic Volume and Tone Controls: The Yamaha A-S1000 is equipped with triple parallel electronic volume and tone controls. The stereo amplifier features independent bass (50Hz) and treble (20kHz) controls so you can increase or decrease the low and high frequency response (+/-9dB).

Note: The volume and tone controls do not effect the amplifiers Main Direct Input or Record Output.

Balance: You can adjust the sound output balance of the left and right speakers connected to the amplifier.

Audio Mute: The Audio Mute function reduce the current volume level by approximately 20 dB.

Speaker Selector: The Speaker Selector switch allows you to select only A speakers, only B speakers, A+B speakers, or no speakers; so you can control which speakers are playing.

Remote Control

Remote Control: The integrated amplifier comes supplied with an IR remote control for wireless operation of the unit. The remote control can also be used to control select Yamaha audio components such as a CD player or AM/FM tuner. The remote has a range of 20 feet at an angle of 30-degrees left-to-right of the unit's front-panel IR sensor.

Analog Inputs/Outputs: The Yamaha A-S1000 integrated stereo amplifier is equipped with six analog RCA stereo inputs for connecting an external audio source such as a CD player, AM/FM tuner, Turntable, and/or cassette deck; as well a preamp or AV receiver. There is also one analog RCA stereo output for recording through the amplifier.

Note: The unit's Phono input also features a ground terminal and is designed to connect a turntable with an MM or MC cartridge.

Main Direct Input: One of the A-S1000's analog inputs is labeled Main Direct Input. This input allows you to connect your preamplifier or AV receiver directly to the A-S1000 and use the Yamaha stereo amplifier as a power amplifier to drive a pair of speakers in your system.

Note: Audio signal coming into the amplifier's Main Direct Input is only output through the speaker outputs of the A-S1000. No audio signal will by output from the stereo amplifier's Pre-Out, Rec Out, or Headphone Output.

Pre-Out: The Yamaha integrated stereo amplifier is equipped with a stereo preamp output for connecting a powered subwoofer or to use the A-S1000 as a preamplifier and connect it to a larger power amplifier to power your speakers.

Speaker Outputs: The Yamaha stereo amplifier features gold-plated binding post terminals for its A & B speaker outputs. The speaker outputs are color-coded for easy connection. You can use the A & B speaker outputs to power two pair of separate speakers or you can bi-wire a single pair of speakers.

Note: If you use two sets (A and B) of speaker, the impedance of each speaker must be 8-ohm or higher. When only using on set of speakers (A or B), use speakers with an impedance of 4-ohm or higher.

Headphone Output: The A-S1000 integrated amplifier is equipped with a front-panel 1/4" headphone output for connecting a pair of headphones (sold separately). Once a set of headphones are connected, the amplifier's speaker outputs mute automatically.

Note: The headphones do not function for the amplifier Main Direct Input.

Customer Q&A

7 questions already asked

I just received the yamaha AS 1000 had an EQ hook to my old yamaha, I'm enjoying the AS 1000 with out the EQ but enjoy the extra boost. I can only get the EQ to work with my tape deck. Then most say don't use an EQ with the AS 1000 it will degrade the clear sound of the amphifer, I have to admit I'm enjoying the amphifers sound on it's own with out the EQ? HOPE someone can answer this, thanks.

I have always run EQ,s with my intergrated amphifers for the extra boost. Purchasing the yamaha AS 1000 soon to replace my aging 34 year old yamaha A 1060 amp in one's a pinion would you do it. I 4 klipsch M160 book shelf speaker?
[ Rich  Nov 05, 2016 ]

Klipsch speakers are very efficient so you will have no problem. As PWK used to say, what the world needs is a good five watt amplifier!! (And when connected to K-horns those five watts would blow the roof off of the house!! (BTW, check out the Vittori speakers, they are like LaScalas -- only better -- and freakin' ROCK the free world!!)
[ THOMAS E  Sep 08, 2017 ]
I tried, liked, and returned the Yamaha as1000. It's a beast of a amp with pre outs for EQs etc and i sounded really good but not significantly better than the Yamaha rs700 stereo receiver i have owned for the last several years. If my receiver crapped out tomorrow i'd try one of Yamahas other amp such as the 801 or 701 though neither has the pre outs for an eq. btw the rs700 does have pre outs and I've tried my yamaha eq70 on it before.

The yamaha as 1000 comes in silver but I'm not seeing it offered?
[ Rich  Nov 01, 2016 ]
1 answer
We currently only offer the A-S1000 integrated amplifier in black. I couldn't locate any options for the A-S1000 on Yamaha's site in silver; but you may want to contact them directly for more information on availability in a silver finish. If you have any further questions on the A-S1000 or other amplifier options, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. I hope that helps!

Does the unit have a loudness control? The highlights show that to be the case on this as well as the 2000, however documentation on the Yamaha site and the owners manual make no mention of this.
[ Joseph  Jul 07, 2016 ]
3 answers
No, neither model has a Loudness Control. The 2000 is the same amplifier as the 1000 with the Phono MM/MC switch moved to the front, and the addition of a Balanced Input. The A-S801 and A-S701 both include a Loudness Control. The 801 and the 701 are the same amplifier except for the addition of DAC capability on the 801.
[ James  Jul 08, 2016 ]
There is no separate 'loudness' control. there 4 control knobs: volume, treble, bass and balance as you see on the photo. By combination, you should be able to control 'loudness'.
[ INTAE  Jul 08, 2016 ]
No it does not.
[ Derrick  Jul 08, 2016 ]
Is the volume knob made of plastic or metal?
[ Joel  Apr 01, 2016 ]
4 answers
It's a metal Volume Knob that has a very smooth, high quality feel.
[ James  Jul 08, 2016 ]
Metal. Outer edge on coated with a rubber like material so it is non-slip.
[ Douglas  Apr 06, 2016 ]
It appears to be plastic.
[ Robert  Apr 02, 2016 ]
I cannot tell. Aluminum or possibly nylon. I do not want to remove to check. Not important to me since i use a remote controller. Overall the unit is very heavy and ruggedly built.
[ INTAE  Apr 01, 2016 ]
Can a sub be hooked up to it?I don't see an output labeled sub.
[ Leigh  Jan 04, 2015 ]
4 answers
Yes you can.
[ MICHAEL S  Jan 22, 2015 ]
Thank you
[ Leigh  Jan 05, 2015 ]
Yes - it would be the pre-out. You would need to have a power'd subwoffer attached to this port. Example - "svs pb12-plus" you would plug an av cable from the pre-out to the low level inputs of the sub If you have a sub that only used 1 cable you would need a reverse y cable to plug into the left-right of the amp.
[ Guest  Jan 05, 2015 ]
No, there has no sub port.
[ chiayuan  Jan 05, 2015 ]
I bought the yamaha AS 500 I am getting a little itchy to try the as 1000 how is the dynamic power on the as1000 well built is it?
[ FRANK D  Jan 20, 2014 ]
2 answers
The AS-1000 is very well built and I found all functions to work perfectly. I found the sound to be cleaner and less bright compared to lower model Yamaha receivers and integrateds. The very warm midrange can muddy the sound to the point of obscuring bass frequencies. The result is a sound that is crisp and clean on top but rhythmically confused on bottom. The lack of rhythmic definition detracts from any palpable sense of dynamic impact in music.
[ James  Jul 08, 2016 ]
We have not received any answers from other customers on your question. I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They should be able to help answer your question.
