When it works it's great! However it seems to have shorty connection with the wi-if. Not sure if it's the machine or the internet, although internet seems to be fine so likely the machine.
Yamaha's R-N303 is a great choice for anyone looking to enjoy smooth stereo sound from a variety of sources, both wired and wireless. Its analog and digital connections let you hook up traditional analog components, like a CD player or turntable. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth give you even more ways to listen.
Yamaha's flexible MusicCast multi-room system lets you enjoy all your music sources in other rooms. That includes Bluetooth streams or components connected to the R-N303's analog inputs. Just add compatible speakers and components to other areas of your home where you want to hear your music. Control your whole-house system using Yamaha's colorful and intuitive MusicCast app on your phone or tablet.
"Normally, I wouldn't expect much from a stereo receiver at this price. But I've come to expect more from Yamaha, and this amp delivered. It had plenty of power for my relatively inefficient bookshelf speakers. And the wireless features like Bluetooth and Yamaha's MusicCast platform open up lots of streaming listening possibilities."

Just got it set up 6 days ago. So far it is just great. Super to have Bluetooth which was maybe the main reason I upgraded receivers. Teamed up with a pair of Elac Debut 2.0 I also just purchased and I have great sound at a great price point for me.

This was the first piece of stereo equipment I bought in 25 yrs. I wanted something I could network. This is what I decided to get started with. Crutchfield was incredibly helpful with both the equipment decision and the setup. This was very important since I don't know what im talking about.
This stereo receiver delivers clear and amazing sound, I am going to consider buying an amplified radio antenna to use with this receiver, do to my current location most of my favorite FM stations come in staticky most of the time. I paired this system with a set of Bose 301 Series V bookshelf speakers and the sound quality is mind blowing. Great product especially for the price point, thanks Crutchfield for delivering as always.
Pros: Multiple input Sources and 100 Watts per channel.
Cons: Receiver only lets you adjust Bass and Treble to +/- 10 db, would be nice if this system had a true Equalizer so you could fine tune your output to the speakers.

Great sound. Easy to use. Good bang for the buck.
Communication with Crutchfield representative was outstanding. Which lead to us purchasing the Yamaha R-N303. Packaging was excellent. Have not installed equipment yet because we were busy traveling during the holidays. Do not anticipate any issues.
This is a good amp with clear crisp sound and a lot of "gadgets". Unfortunately, the tests i did show that in fact the amp only drives ~65 W / channel on 8 ohm and not 100 as they said. Also, the amplifier frequency response curve in relation to power is quite non-linear: at lower frequency (20 - 100 HZ) the amp delivers only ~50 W / channel - while at 15-20 KHz the power goes to ~75W / channel (BTW: now i know why i burned 2 tweeters. Input signal was kept at such level that the output signal (on the load) was clear sin and not clipped.
Pros: Price and capibilities
Cons: power output
Very nice receiver for the money. The Music Cast app made everything really user friendly and have my tablets and phone synced to it which enables you to operate it from multiple devices. This is my first receiver with all the wireless options built in and it has me thinking about upgrading my perfectly good home theater receiver to a similar unit.
Pros: Good sound, good price and easy to use.
Cons: None thus far
Why did I wait so long to buy a modern piece of audio equipment? I am very happy with this purchase. It replaces a vintage amp and tuner that I have enjoyed but performance and reliability were nagging issues. This unit has more than enough power for my ELAC Debut 5s connected via the speaker leads to my Polk sub. It also sounds noticeably better -- I suspect my old amp needs recapping. FM reception (I have a 20-ft. outdoor antenna) is very good for our remote area. My vintage turntable and Oppo universal disc player connected easily. I hardwired via ethernet to our router, which makes it easy to stream Tidal via AirPlay on my iPhone. (I prefer the Tidal app to MusicCast.) But MusicCast is wonderful for internet radio stations. I also stream via Airplay a large library of ALAC files stored on NAS using iTunes on my MacBook Pro, and the sound quality is wonderful. Some folks have complained about the setup procedure, but with some patience and concentration, I found the instructions very clear for what I wanted to do. I am usually skeptical of 5-star ratings but when all is said and done, this Yamaha deserves the score (albeit I have only owned it for a week).
Pros: Great sound (honestly!) plus versatile features, AirPlay and Internet connectivity are big plusses.
Cons: I wish I could read the display across the room, but then the MusicCast app will tell you just about everything you want to know.
Attractive, easy to set up, sounds great and plays almost everything. Digital tuning for precision. No additional hardware required. Exactly what I wanted.
I have only one complaint regarding this model. It has no sub woofer connection. Careful, if you're hoping to connect a sub woofer.
Pros: price, controls
Cons: no sub woofer connection
I thought this was a good purchase. I like it.
Lots of power, lots of features, and excellent range.
Pros: Lots of power, Lots of features, and good range.
Sounds great through my new Klipsch speakers, but I am still struggling with connectivity issues. MusicCast not working directly with iTunes is a MAJOR drawback. There are workarounds, but they are only to be found through web searching. Also, the manual is lacking some key info. like router ssid cannot contain certain special characters. I have spent hours & hours figuring these things out & have gotten more valuable help from google than the seller. Overall, though, I am happy with the functions & sound. I am new to wireless stereo & it is the most amazing thing! Just make sure you ask the right questions before you buy, & unless you're a tech. wizard, expect some frustrations before you reach your happy ending. My 3 stars is the result of all the problems I've had with connecting to PC & Blue Tooth.
Pros: Price, appearance, MusicCast for everything but iTunes.
Cons: No direct iTunes set-up & manual missing some key info. I also hate that it stays on standby unless you kill the power. I live in a very dusty environment & need to cover this when not in use. I have to buy a special switch to make this safe & easy.
We purchased this receiver to play Spotify and tie into our existing Russound speaker system with multiple zones. The sound is fabulous, and it seamlessly fits in with our TV setup without the need to add more cables or go through the hassle of switching cables. A simple tap of a button on the receiver's remote allows us to switch between media without any sound interference.
Pros: Great sound. Ease of set-up. Ties nicely into Russound system.
Seems like a great receiver with plenty of perks I didnt really need! Would like bass to be deeper but overall very happy.
Excellent receiver. Paired up with my ipad in a snap.
My prior receiver's internal remote system no longer functioned. I replaced it with this receiver to update what I had. Very satisfied with all it does. The MusicCast is easy to use. Just needed a little help with Crutchfield support and no problems since. Great sound and quality as expected from Yamaha.
Pros: Great sound Quality Features
Just what I was looking for. I am powering a pair of Polk Audio TSi 200 and the sound is crisp clean and clear.
Cons: The remote is hard to read in low light. I would prefer a back lit remote.
Overall very pleased with this unit. Hooked to a pair of old Mirage speakers in my living room and they sound great. The MusicCast app works well once set up- handy since this is installed in an enclosed bookcase, so no need to open door. The MusicCast app also blends really well with my EchoDot (3rd Gen) to voice control the basics on the receiver. Wish there were a few specific things available functionality wise that drop my rating to only 4/5.
Pros: Compact Audio Only receiver Very good price Great options for online music streaming Bluetooth works great Easy set up with MusicCast App and Amazon Alexa Great Crutchfield service
Cons: Can't remove unwanted / unused streaming services from scrolling input list No Subwoofer output minimal tonal controls
I replaced a 9 yr old Onkyo 8555 that was great until it refused to wake up and I needed a fairly simple stereo receiver with enough power to drive my ageing acoustic suspension speakers that are pretty power hungry. The specs on this receiver filled the bill and Crutchfield's price/delivery were great and we had had excellent experience with them in the past. The R-N303 performs very well on FM and CD music sources but my first impression on the phono inputs is that the RIAA equalization is a little too bright for my Shure M-97XED cartridge. On the first LP I played, I cut the highs (no spec on turnover freqs) by 4 db. The controls only allow +/- 2 db steps which seems limited but time will tell. I have not yet run a comparison on my separate preamp. The manual spends a terrific amount of paper on all the various digital and wireless signal sources but seems rather short on the basics. The specifications are fairly cursory with nothing regarding the input impedances of the various inputs and those of us that don't use iOS devices will need to figure out settings for ourselves if they work at all with generic systems like Linux and Android. Setup was fairly simple but I did not get into all the network stuff so I still have a lot of "fun" ahead figuring that out. The appearance is clean and simple looking (if your eyes are ok with basic black).
Pros: Easy setup and good sound on high level sources. Good pricing for the feature set. Clean appearance (if you like basic black).
Cons: Seems too bright on the phono input. User manual weak on basics and specs and on non-apple networking setup.
Bought this to put in the garage and run our patio speakers outside. Did not need surround, just good sound, ability to run 2 sets of speakers, and wanted to be able to Airplay to it. I have a large music library on my Mac Pro in the house. I hard wired this to that same network, and although Airplay works to access that library and control it from my phone, I found that using the apple "Remote" app works even better. Set up was simple. Used the Yamaha App and set up Pandora and stuff. I wish Yamaha put all the buttons that are on the remote, on the face of the stereo as well, but this hasn't been the case for most of their receivers. But I can always count on Yamaha for equipment that works well and sounds great. My first Yamaha receiver finally quit this summer after over 30 years of use. So this was a great upgrade.
Needed a new receiver. I had a Yamaha audio-video receiver that was about 11 years old with no phono input and an old Onkyo integrated amplifier from the eighties that had a problem with the balance control. The Yamaha R-N303 had a lot of very good reviews so decided to go with it. Have only listened to records, CD's and FM radio so far and have not yet tried to connect to our computer network. Easy to set up and use. Sound quality seems to be of very high quality so far. Would definitely recommend.
Pros: Sounds great. Easy to use.
Cons: Might need some assistance making use of the network and other connectivity features.
has a lot of features for the money , works great .
Yamaha R-N303 performed up to my expectations. It had no problems driving The Klipsch speakers I purchased from Cructchfields. I would recommend to potential buyers.
Pros: Good performance
Very nice product. YAMAHA has been a brand that I never had a chance to purchase in my early years. I am now updating my system and am very pleased with the quality, options, style and price.
Pros: Style, color, sound, versatility and price.
Receiver I works well in my 30×40 work shop/garage. I have it hooked up to a pair of Bose 301 series 3 and it works great. Adequate power and very simple and easy to operate. Was hoping the system had more bass as these speakers did have in my other garage but it was smaller(24×32) therefore the different size space and spacing of speakers might have something to do with it.But over all I am very pleased with this reciever.
Pros: Easy set up and simple to use. Love the bass and treble controls instead of having to go into the menu.
Cons: Weak bass but might be due to speaker placement?
Fantastic receiver great sound running 4 outdoor speakers 2 Boston acoustics 2 KLH so great to play songs from your phone in the hot tub
Crutchfield was great to work with. Receiver was everything I hoped for in a receiver. Easy set up.
Pros: Easy to get Bluetooth going and receiver up and running
Cons: None so far
Received the unit and had no problem setting it up physically, everything attached easily. Programming went well. The front of the unit and the remote are arranged more to be attractive rather than for intuitive operation, but this is a problem with most manufacturers. The bass and treble are boosted in +/- 2 db increments, I would prefer =/- 1. I listen to a lot of classical music and in operation, the sound is smooth through from bass to treble with a slight emphasis and the mid=range. It has more than enough power to drive my inefficient floor speakers to levels that annoy my family. The only slight problem I have with the sound is that while the bass is definitely there, it feels likes it lacks some authority behind it unless the bass is boosted a little. Overall, ass the title says, its very good the the price and well worth the money.
After fussin' and fightin' for a couple of weeks with an AV receiver I purchased (from Crutchfield, of course), I decided it wasn't worth the hassle messing with all the menu settings trying to getting everything just right. Thanks to Crutchfield's amazing return policy, I sent it back for a refund. I put that money toward the Yamaha R-N303 stereo receiver which does everything I need it to do. It's as plug-n-play as I expected it to be. The stereo sound is totally adequate for my needs. This unit comes with an optical input to which I connected my TV and a digital coaxial input if I ever need one. Connecting my speakers was easy because of the banana plug terminals. Now, don't worry if your looking for all kinds of internet functions. They're available too. I'll never use them. I'm 73 and just discovered the internet last month. But for those of you so inclined, don't fret. I sure it can handle anything you need it to do.
Pros: Great price, great sound, easy setup.
Cons: None that I've found so far.
Totally was what I was looking for, thanks to Mac, the salesperson who helped me!
Pros: Love the sound, since I was hesitant to try the new stereos that are available today. Wouldn't want to risk buying today's stereo systems in exchange for this sound with the old style system that I'm used to.
Cons: Much bigger & takes up more space than today's stereo systems.
I replaced a theater unit with this stereo receiver and I am very happy I did. I never enjoyed watching tv through the other unit because voices were always too low and other sounds would scare the heck out of you being too loud. It had too many settings and just did not sound very good on any of them. This receiver is a great value and has plenty of oomph to power 2 sets of Polk speakers and a powered sub. Sounds fantastic. I especially like the Bluetooth feature. I have dedicated a tablet with 200 GB of my music along with the free music I have with a subscription from the company I bought the tablet from. Everyone comments how cool this system looks and sounds. I owned Yamaha products 30+ years ago and it was very good back then.
Pros: Clear, clean sound Bluetooth
Cons: Remote does not learn other equipment and is difficult to read.
Pretty cool unit. I needed 100W to drive two sets of speakers. It receives wifi and Bluetooth. I'm a happy camper. I've bought a ton of stuff from Crutchfield over the years. Prices are fair and customer service is excellent.
Great price. Easy setup. Fast delivery. Excellent products. I have been a customer of Crutchfield for over 20 years. Always a great experience. Will continue to do so. Thank you, Crutchfield
Pros: Easy setup. Great reception.
Great features, sounds awesome
Recently purchased this receiver to upgrade from an old Pioneer that I had inherited. Set up was a breeze. Records sound great and pairing my computer or phone is simple and convenient.
Does everything I needed a 2 channel receiver to do. Easy to set up, Bluetooth AND wireless at a good price
Easy to set up. Wifi requires attention to detail, but works well. Works well.
Upon installation and set up, right out of the box, the controls on the receiver did not work. The remote control did work though... I contacted the service department, and we walked through a factory reset, but that did not fix the problem. A replacement is in transit. We'll see if it works any better.
Pros: Polite, professional support from the service technician that tried to help me.
Cons: The unit fell way short of my expectations.
I like the receiver but I don't like the fact that the remote is a must. If I lose the remote, I've lost the ability to balance the speakers. This is a new piece of equipment for me so I'm not sure if the loss of the remote will impact other features. You might look into this before buying especially if you have little kids around who magically make remotes disappear!
I needed to replace my Yamaha RX-450 stereo receiver that I've enjoyed since the 1980 because the left channel kept cutting out. The Yamaha R-N303 is a great replacement. First of all, it has all the RCA inputs I need for my Phonograph, CD player, and even the tape deck I still use from time to time--unlike so many other receivers available at stores like my local big box electronics retail store etc., which are probably fine for home theatre, yet not so accommodating for audio like I want in my music/library, in a room away from the television. The R-N303 also features bluetooth, so I can connect my iPad mini, especially when I want to enjoy Quiet Music, an internet program I have been enjoying on Sundays for several years. The receiver arrived by UPS three days earlier than I expected. I spent approximately 45 minutes disconnecting the old receiver and setting up the new one. It was very easy, and everything worked from the start--interior and exterior speakers, phono, CD player, and tape deck. Programming FM radio stations was also very easy, and the bluetooth connecting right away (unlike some other blue tooth devices I use). The remote is effective with buttons conveniently (even logically) arranged. The stereo separation is great with my system, and I have plenty of volume to spare. I am very pleased with this purchase from Crutchfield, and I am very glad to be able to hear music without the left speaker cutting out every few minutes.
Pros: easy set-up. clear sound. inputs I need/want for my other audio equipment
Cons: none so far
This receiver has excellent sound and works great with my speakers and TV/DVD player. It has wireless and Bluetooth capabilities. I use it with my I tunes library and I Pod. There are many other features like streaming music from Pandora etc.
Pros: Price and capibilities
Cons: The Yamaha music cast feature was difficult to get set up Crutchfield's support staff came to the rescue.
Sounds and operates great
Nice amp for the price.Crutchfield is the place for audio and video needs
Pros: Just what I need without any extra such as hdmi hook ups.just q amp for my different audio components
Great Value for a blend of technology and amplitude. Comfortably drives 4 pairs of wired speakers with the aid of a Niles Speaker Selector giving me the ability to select input and volume with my iPhone
Great sound and plenty of power
I was looking to replace an old stereo I was using for the past 8 years that I had inherited from a past family member. It was an indestructible 24 year old (made in 1994) Sony cabinet type with dual cassette decks and 5 disc changer but a bit too "dated" and decided it's time to get with it and upgrade. I love listening to a wide variety of music on YouTube with my Sony MDR-XB500 headphones through my mobile but wanted something bigger and better. Dated stereo, dated Bose bookshelf speakers and a large collection of CDs with no room for more brought me here to shop for an entire stereo system that fit the bill. This receiver is absolutely perfect for what I needed to upgrade. Instead of buying more CDs, I can stream music off YouTube via my Samsung S7 mobile through the Bluetooth on this receiver. Upgraded speakers to Polk Audio T50 as well, even though not sold here at the time. I purchased this AND an Onkyo 6 disc changer from "scratch and dent" but the only scratches or dents I saw were on the boxes they came in. One on one advisers were VERY kind and helpful! Thanks a million!
Pros: Bluetooth option. Excellent price.
Cons: I miss the old sliding EQ adjusters. That's just personal preference.
impressive stereo network receiver for the price
I'm very pleased with the features and quality of this amp. It was a littler harder to get it to link with my Wi-Fi than it should have been but after several resets that feature finally worked.
The device functions perfectly well for the features I am able to use. Sound is fine and setup was not hard. The remote is 'unforgiving'. I must have had to reenter my presets three or four times during my initial setup because I happen to hit an incorrect key. I am very disappointed that there are no 'buttons' on the front of the receiver and you must 'page through' the presets on the remote. Finally I do not have a 'really smart' phone and I can not utilize all of the features i.e. PANDORA, Internet Radio that are available. All of my computer work is accomplished with a desktop.
I look at 30 different stereo receivers before deciding to purchase this one. I am total enjoying it. Great sound and tone. Easy to connect to other wireless devices.
Pros: Easy to connect to my bluetooth and wifi
This is exactly what I needed to upgrade my whole house music system to access streaming sources. My old system was only capable of playing tapes or CDs. Sound is great and once setup it very easy to use. Had some difficulty during setup getting connected to my wifi. Mostly operator error I think. Beat happy with this unit.
Pros: Great selection of streaming sources Good quality sound Good price
Cons: Wifi setup could be much easier.
The R-N303 receiver is almost prefect. Great price, and has all the features I wanted (AirPlay, Bluetooth, MusicCast, A/B speakers, powerful, and easy to setup and use). It also has an optical input like most televisions which I was excited about; however, the optical input on the R-N303 only supports PCM format. My Samsung smart tv audio works fine, but not with Netflix, Hulu, etc (even after changing the audio settings in those apps). Using an analog cable to the line input works great with all television sources. Highly recommended, but wish it had a full-featured digital television input.
Pros: Full featured, easy setup and use, and great sound.
Cons: Optical input may not work with your smart television's audio formats.
I'm happy with our selecting the N303. Price was fair, sounds great and it's a Yamaha. My only rub is that the manual is in small print and not particularly user friendly (good thing we had Crutchfield tech support). All seemed to connect all right but it's a bit like voodoo, it connects and you aren't really sure why (I like to know how things work). Anyway - I'm pleased with the unit and it sounds terrific.
I really like this receiver. It delivers plenty of clean low distortion power to the Klipsh reference 28 speakers I bought to go with it. This is the central part to an audio set up with a turntable, CD player, and a Mac. The connectivity is fantastic. It's also easy to use. We can use the Mac to stream from Internet radio stations or from playlists on iTunes. Connecting by Bluetooth is always available and easy from our phones. Overall this receiver is a good combination of old school audio punch and new school connectivity.
Nice unit for the money!
Bought it to pair with two Klipsh AW-650's for my terraza in the mountains in central Puerto Rico. Can't be more satisfied. Smooth enough to relax in my hamaca listenning to jazz or boleros and powerfull enough to enjoy salsa music while doing some BBQ with friends and family. Have Klipshs towers and sorround for about 20 years and the only one to quit was the subwoofer that I replaced recently. Can't buy a better combination for the money. If my memory doesn' t fail me I have been a Cruchtfield custumer for about 25 years and still.
Pros: Wi fi, Bluetooth and all the basics. Enough if you do not need to move big speakers.
Cons: Maybe I am getting old but the display is little small.
Simply does everything I need it to do, and probably more. The sales people were all helpful and competent, the delivery was fast. The set-up took a couple tries, but they problems were operator caused, not equipment caused. No complaints.
I bought this receiver to power outdoor wired speakers (and one wireless kitchen speaker) and needed it to have wireless capability as there was no line of sight. I had a little initial trouble setting up the music cast app ( some firmware issues) , but in the end it works well. Its easily runs, pandora, iTunes, spotify , the radio or any input method. Decent interface and easy to globally adjust volume or EQ - or individual tweaks by room.
Pros: no line of sight required. good interface and functions on phone app
Cons: little initial trouble setting up the wifi/music cast app ( some firmware issues)
I bought this receiver for my 91 year old father. It was a replacement for his prehistoric Nikko receiver. The Yamaha was a perfect option, as it had everything he needed, and not a lot he didn't need. I installed it today and both Dad and Mom (married 68 years) were very happy with it. They were especially impressed with the simplicity of the front panel (labels on remote are so tiny, they found them hard to read). The installation was simple. I connected up their turntable, CD player, and a pair of old KEF bookshelf speakers I bought for him years ago. I walked my Dad through programming the FM presets. The sound was so good that Dad (who really should be wearing a hearing aid) said, "Even my tin ears can tell the difference!".
Pros: Very simple setup. Simple front panel layout. Turntable inputs. Sound
Cons: No AC power plug for additional component on back of unit. Text on remote too small for elderly to read. Manual too big and technical for elderly. A simplified version would be a nice touch.
Great looks and appearance. Easy to set up and start using it. Connection to WiFi fairly easy and quick. Only dissapointment is that I cannot seem to be able to set up the App for BT headphones. The app doesn't find the receiver! The main reason I purchased the R-N303 is to connect my BT phones. Other than that, the R-N303 is a very good audio receiver for the price. Also, I read one or two reviews about adjusting balance, well it does have that feature within the screen menu. Search the manual, is there. I found it right away. Hope this review is helpful.
Pros: Great looks, easy set up, great sound.
Cons: Could not get the App to detect the receiver in order to use BT Phones
I've owned many Yamaha products and enjoyed great performance from each one! This receiver sounds great! Crutchfield makes is even more enjoyable!
Just received this unit to use for my indoor/outdoor music streaming. So far so good. Very clean power to speakers. So many streaming options that I am still figuring out. I'm glad I have this unit in my audio set up!
Pros: Variety of streaming options Plenty of clean power Quality, looks
Cons: Set up might be daunting for non-techies
I bought this to run my outdoor speakers. It was very easy to set up the wireless connection and start using the MusicCast app. The sound is amazing and the kids are even enjoying the system.
Great receiver for WiFi connectivity sound quality and price!
It came in a timely manner. It hooked easily to my other electronics.
Yamaha does it again! I've been very pleased with my Yamaha A-S500 integrated amp, which powers my main audio system (vintage B & O turntable, Marantz CD player, Polk LSiM707 towers), but needed to replace an old Pioneer receiver that powers a multi-room system in another part of the house. And wireless capability was a must. The Yamaha R-N303 kept popping up in online reviews, so I talked to a Crutchfield rep, who told me that the R-N303 would be well-suited to my needs. So when the R-N303 went on sale, I scooped one up, and I'm glad that I did. Setup was easy, with clear prompts for setting up the wireless connections with my various devices, and the system sounds great and performs flawlessly. Really happy with the R-N303.
Pros: Yamaha quality and features without breaking the bank.
Very fast delivery. Powerful network receiver for the money. ED
Pros: Powerful amplifier, good tuner, phono input
Cons: No USB port
Great product, I love that fact that you can play streamed music through the reciever. We have had a few problems with the receiver losing connects to the Spotify. Also do not like the fact that you cannot control the volume using Music Cast. But other than those issue it is amazing product and makes sitting by the pool listening to music much more enjoyable.
I love this Amp/Receiver! we have a small house, this would be an excellent component for a much larger room than we have it in! Amazing sound. no problem driving the speakers! It has plenty of bass for us, we aren't into the "rattle your neighbors windows too" bass. ;)
It's easy o set up ,works great
The only minor issue are the vertical bars used to adjust tone and input which seem awkward vs selector knobs. The large round volume knob is smooth and easy to adjust. Easy set up, plug and play. Yamaha quality.
I've got this powering a pair of Polk RTi A1 speakers. Fell in love with classical music again. My mother bought this setup from Crutchfield for her senior living apartment. Fills the apartment with sound.
Very nice receiver - great sound, I wanted this for my outdoor setup. The sounds coming from this receiver was a great improvement from what I had been using.
Pros: Great sound
Cons: Difficult to connect to my Wi-Fi - the directions are almost worthless.
Crutchfield guys are always very helpful, but even they couldn't figure out how to make this unit work with Yamaha Musicast wireless speakers. It is the worst most confusing setup and useless feature we've ever experienced. It's a nice receiver but the Musicast wireless is a complete nightmare.
Pros: Nice receiver
Cons: Do not by for Musicast. Confusing impossible set up!!
Great Service, Great Products - Always!
Great receiver and looks great and the sound is very good It was easy to setup also
Pros: The R-N303 Looks great and sounds great and was very easy to set up
Cons: none at this time
This is a great 2-channel receiver and the MusicCast and bluetooth connectivity work seamlessly. I'm able to easily stream music from my phone through the MusicCast app, including Spotify, but my wife and kids stream from their phones without the MusicCast app just using the receiver's built-in bluetooth capabilities. I am using wired speakers, haven't tried to connect to wireless speakers, but I'm hoping to add a pair of wireless MusicCast speakers for my patio. I bought a "scratch and dent" version through Crutchfield and I can't detect anything that is scratched or dented. Everything was included in the box except it looked like the FM antenna was different that original. It still works fine, though.
Pros: easy to wirelessly stream music to the receiver
Cons: labels on the remote are small
Buy your products from Crutchfield top quality merchandise no matter what you buy its top quality
Easy setup, and love the app to control the receiver from poolside.
The web interface and controlling the device with your phone in the Musicast App is great. Once it is setup, it is very easy to operate. My wife is not a techie and she is running it on her own after a quick tutorial. If you like a lot of music options, this is the receiver for you. I have it connected to four small bookshelf speakers and the sound quality is excellent.
Great piece of stereo equipment ! As advertised. Fast shipping. Manual user friendly I'm 77 so this is probably my last receiver ! HA Thanks C M Haller
We wanted an app controlled audio system that we could use for our outdoor patio. We have had no success with previous receivers consistently connecting by Bluetooth to our mobile devices. We have a weather proof cabinet built into an outdoor kitchen where the metal studs block Bluetooth. An app controlled WiFi based system seemed to be the right solution. Our experience with this Yamaha product has been out standing. The price for what you get is also outstanding. We are able to use the Yamaha MusicCast application to completely control the device from streaming services to FM radio. The sound is impressive and there is plenty of power available to fill our large patio space. Sometimes systems that connect to multiple mobile devices can be tricky when you want to switch control from one device to another. Getting the system to drop one device and connect to another is never as simple as the manufacturer describes. The MusicCast app allows multiple devices to see what is playing and make changes. I have started playing something and later my wife wants to change the station, she simply picks up her phone and makes the switch. I do not think we will ever use the provided remote. I could not be more pleased with the purchase. We should have done it sooner.
Pros: MusicCast App is incredible; it controls the device as well as stores the credentials for your streaming services like Sirius XM and Spotify. We are an Apple family, so the built in AirPlay connection works well for our Apple Music account. The sound is amazing for our application.
Cons: Getting the receiver connected to WiFi was tricky, but once it was connected life is good.
Using this unit as a receiver for outdoor audio for both music and outdoor movies. I really like the Bluetooth and direct to WiFi functions. Sound is crisp and full. Super simple bass and treble adjustments.
Great Surround Sound
Pros: Great Suround
Mutiple reviewers stated a lack of balance control. I thought the same until I went into the setup menu via the remote. There it is.. Great receiver so far...
Pros: Easy set up.
Cons: Difficult to route TV antenna audio through receiver.
Easy setup, Bluetooth paired quickly and very nice sound quality.
Just as cosmo described and works out fine for what my needs are, I put off purchasing a system as it seemed rather complicated anymore but the help from crutchfield was great and they guided me in the right direction
Good unit, and easy to use. However, it is very difficult to get it connected to your WiFi router and the directions are terrible. Also, the remote control does not also control other Yamaha units such as a CD player. You have to use a separate remote and that is annoying.
Excellent product with very full and accurate sound . The FM reception is excellent, with an antenna I can get stations more than 100 miles away. The streaming requires some time to set up but works well. The instructions in the manual did not translate into English very well It is another excellent receiver from Yamaha. It is an excellent value, you would have to spend more than $600 to get a sound as good.
Pros: Good power and very good sound. The FM reception is very good. I can receive stations more than one hundred miles away. This is an EXCELLENT value
Cons: The remote is poorly labeled. I have to break out the bifocals to read the print. It is a very cheap remote and is too small. The remote needs better buttons with a click or smoother way to let you know you have activated the correct function.
I installed the unit two days ago and I'm still trying to figure out everything it does. The biggest problem I had incorporating it into my existing system was swapping positions with my multi-disc CD player within my sound equipment cabinet. In other words, it wasn't a problem at all. In fact, I was surprised when I went to the next room and started up ITunes on the computer and it automatically turned on my new Yamaha unit and started playing my ITunes track through the AirPlay function. Pretty cool. It's nice to have a sound system back in the house that is independent from the sound bar we have for our LCD video display. I'm expecting to enjoy my new Yamaha unit for a long time.
Pros: Easy to install. Fits my current needs..
Cons: Disappointed that is only "receives" Bluetooth signals for Playback from a "casting" source. It would be great if it acted as a relay point and "casted" via Bluetooth to wireless speakers. I'm also dismayed at the lack of "left" and "right" balance control.
The Yamaha rn303 is a great sounding reciever at a great price.
Pros: Great sound and great price.
Cons: None at this time.
There isn't much I can add to what has already been said about this very good receiver at a really good price. I needed to replace my old Denon receiver, which had died, and this was the perfect and sensible choice for my budget. I am listening to my music on my floorstanding Polk speakers, and it never sounded so good! My speakers were too powerful for the old, outdated receiver, and now, with this new, versatile Yamaha, my vast collection of CDs sound great! I even hooked up my Tape deck(yes, very old-school) because I kept all of my old cassettes, and they sound ok too. I needed a few questions answered and "Mike" couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. In addition, this receiver is a great way to combine my existing music collection and bring me into the more "current" music scene because of its ability to stream music, which I am also looking forward to doing. Thank you Crutchfield and I am looking forward to adding a turntable, so I can enjoy my old vinyls as well!
Pros: Great receiver at a great price, good for connecting all your devices, ability to stream music, bluetooth, versatile and looks good too.
Cons: None I can think of!
I'm very happy with my new receiver. I did call for tech. support while setting up with Iphone but it was my lack of following the manual. They were very patient and helpful. the price was great. I will definitely deal with Crutchfield again !
Pros: works great with iphone [ syrius radio, pandora]
This works just like I wanted it to. very easy to stream music from a hard drive in another room. Having a tuner is also a plus.
Excellent product, reasonably priced, easy to set up.
Pros: Reasonable price, simplicity in setting up, great performance, exceeded expectations.
This stereo receiver replaces my old 45 year old one and it does it perfectly and then some. The wireless capabilities are something new to me and I'm still learning how to use them. But I am learning the learning curve is not so steep! I also have a CD player that hooded up flawlessly. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and the service I received from Levi. Thank you.
Pros: Attractive appearance I can display in my living room. Strong performance for my speakers. Wide variety of music services I can use wirelessly. Music Cast app is a great feature also.
Cons: None that I can identify at the time of this review!.
Just what I needed. I'm just using to power my Definitive Tech BP6B's and stream Spotify to the Yamaha and use my iPhone to change the playlist, control volume, etc... The Yamaha drives the towers well. The setup was easy. Very good value for money!
Pros: Easy setup. Good price.
Cons: None for me.
Great receiver for the money. Does everything I wanted; no issues at all.
Product was delivered in a timely fashion & performs as expected. It's not as powerful as my 30 year old Sansui & has more features than I'll ever need. Very happy with unit. Have dealt w/Crutchfield for many years.
Pros: Loaded w/features
Cons: No switched 110v outlets on back of unit
Works great love the sound I'm especially impressed by how it sends different trebles and basses to separate speakers
Most capable of the fully networked stereo receivers. Great replacement for that aging unit. Works with almost all the streaming services and Airplay, Bluetooth. Cheaper than the equivalent units out there from Onkyo, Sony, etc.
Pros: Better price, all streaming services, Apple and PC compatible.
Cons: Set up required a couple tries, did not exactly follow script. Even though new unit, required a couple software update downloads.
So far have only set up the radio & and my CD player but am very satisfied with my purchase. It is hooked to a 25 year old set of book shelf speakers & a 30 year old set of floor speakers from my old unit & the sound is fantastic. Love it.
Pros: Easy to set up & use so far.
I love this receiver! Bluetooth is so simple to set up. Nothing is hard to do on this.
Does everything well. Some of the directions were a little complicated but I have managed to get through them with a little help from Crutchfield technical support. Excellent sound quality.
Very happy with this receiver. has all the inputs I need for CD, Phonograph, FM reception through my attic antenna is clear, Bluetooth is great for streaming and gives me control over content and volume from any room in the house. I haven't tried setting up WIFI for direct streaming, I will try it but I don't know if it is necessary since I like having the screen of my IPad in the listening rooms (receiver is not in the same room as the speakers). 100% satisfied so far.
My Yamaha R-N303 that I purchased from Crutchfield was just what I was looking for. Now I can stream music and listen to internet radio. With the Yamaha MusicCast I can listen to my Sirius XM . Now it's time to dust off my turn table and play some vinyl again.
Easy to connect to WIFI and stream music via WIFI to speakers. Helped to resurrect my old turntable, cd and tape players. Awesome sound and very intuitive!
Pros: Simple to operate/connect via WIFI, great sound and many options for connecting components.
Cons: No sub woofer out, but this is easily solved by adding Edifier speakers with a Sub out.
Volume doesn't start until at 50 on the dial. Head phones sound like crap when plugged in. Haven't figured that out yet they sound fine other devices. It shouldn't be that complicated.
Cons:Crutchfield response on 2/27/2018 We're sorry you're having issues with your receiver. Whenever you encounter a problem with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, please contact our Tech Support team. They can help you solve the problem or set up a return within 60 days of purchase. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Was looking for a new receiver to incorporate our older analog equipment (tape deck, turntable, 5-disc CD player) with all the new digital venues including streaming to wireless speakers. This receiver fit perfectly. Was very easy to set up and was even more pleasantly surprised when we found it was Sirus XM compatible. Configuring wi-fi was painless. The MusicCast app takes a little to get use to moving around but once you get your room setup it's sweet. Really want to thank Sonny for the expert advice he gave me while looking at this purchase.
Pros: Yamaha quality, functionality, ease of setup and integration
Cons: Could have more speaker connections.
The receiver is terrific -- and I am eternally grateful to the very nice Crutchfield employees, starting with Manny, who helped me choose it and then helped me work out how to attach it to my existing products, several of which also came from Crutchfield. They're the best. And the Yamaha R-N303 sounds wonderful! Thank heavens -- and Crutchfield and Yamaha -- for having my sound of music back again!
too complicated to operate, very limited instructions
Great receiver for the money. Set-up with MusicCast is very easy. I also love the fact that I can use this receiver with all my music: streaming, LPs, and CDs. I have an old pair of Bose towers and they sound great with this receiver.
Pros: Price Easy set-up with MusicCast Sound quality Flexibility of music formats
Cons: None so far.
Based on a Crutchfield recommendation this amp/receiver is everything they said. Easy to set up but really have to rely on the remote to switch functions. Really just beginning to explore all the options. The R-N303 has all the latest technology built into it for Bluetooth expansion.Great value for the price. I really love the sound from our new Polk speakers also recommended by the Crutchfield PRO. If you are unsure what you want go to Crutchfield, they will help you through the whole process.
I am very happy with my purchase of the R-N303 receiver. The sound is excellent, and the display is very easy to read from across the room (and the brightness is adjustable). I am beginning to appreciate the internet radio capability since I live in an area with poor fm reception. I had switched from an old 5.1 a/v receiver, so I needed to call technical support for help with connecting some of my dvd player, but the representative was very helpful and reminded me it was a simple matter of making adjustments to the dvd player. He even sent me an email with a copy of the correct dvd manual page to help me. An excellent receiver, and Crutchfield is an excellent choice for electronics gear!
I'm very satisfied with the ease of connection/set up and the sound quality. I wanted an FM/AM Stereo Amp/Recvr for support of my audio equipment and not for video or some of the other newer means of entertainment such as bluetooth connectivity or Sirrus capability though the R-N303 is supposed to do that. The remote is easy to use, but I wish there were more ways to control the unit from the front panel rather than almost total reliance on the remote. However, for what I want this is an affordable and really good machine! And, you DO HAVE ability to connect a turntable. Be aware that some of these home entertainment centers these days will not support a turntable (Iknow that from experience) and if you need that then be careful. This R-N303 DOES SUPPORT A TURTABLE. I communicated by e-mail with Yamaha for some answers prior to purchase and their tech reps were both responsive and very helpful. All in all I am so far totally pleased with my Yamaha R-N303, with the company and with Crutchfield, and in my opinion the R-N303 is a great product at a reasonable price.
Generally easy set up and works well. Drive my old Castle bookshelf speakers very well - looking to upgrade those soon. Could not get the Yamaha MusicCast app to work on my Samsung Android tablet, but this is not necessary for me. All other WiFi connectivity working well.
This receiver was very easy to set up. Connected easily to my phone which by the way controls all the functions. Pushes my floor standing speakers easily. Lighted buttons on the remote would have been great but still easy to use & functional. Bought this because my powered turntable & powered speakers weren't giving me the sound I wanted . Highly recommended
Pros: Easy to set up & use. Pushes my large speakers. Perfect for a mediun to large room.
Cons: None to speak of yet
Purchased the Yamaha R-N303 for our hardwired CD collection/speakers and to access web-based music and stream music to our kitchen to a MusicCast WX-030 speaker. If you don't do this often there's a tiny learning curve on the set up to make sure all the WiFi settings are in order but nothing daunting. Such as, after several failed attempts to link to our WiFi, according to the manual instructions, I found that a network update was necessary. Plugged the receiver into the router with an Ethernet cord and it quickly updated. After unplugging, attempted to link the receiver to the wireless router using the "push button" function but WiFi connection was unstable. After a manual set up, the connection has worked fine. You'll save time if you go through the all settings on the network settings screen and make sure they are compatible with your router. One disappointment: MusicCast is not compatible with our Microsoft Surface tablet but it works fine with our Windows PC and android phone. Functions are straightfoward and easy to navigate on the screen. Sound is great. Internet radio is fun to have on the "big" speakers. The Yamaha R-N303 has the features and cutting edge technology we wanted at an affordable price. We especially like the MusicCast software that allows us to play music in different rooms and to access our web based music. Very happy with the purchase.
Good product. - No balance control.
Well worth the price
This receiver was exactly what I needed. The technician on the chat line got me the right piece.
The amp set up and performance was as stated in the write up. No problems at all.
I was looking for a receiver that would drive my speakers, Polk Audio rti a7, provide Bluetooth, and have a direct input for my phonograph. I am very satisfied with my purchase as all of my needs are covered.
Pros: Easy to set up. Great Sound.
Cons: None that I can think of.
The primary request I made from the Crutchfield "tech" was for the a receiver which I could connect my wireless bluetooth speakers. This receiver cannot do this and the manual establishes this. The "tech" wasted my money and time and suggested a "work around" that does not work. Why would I buy a product and then have to work around its limitations? I will not use Crutchfield again as their personnel don't know what they are selling, and certainly are unaware of its capabilities.
Cons: Wasted my money because the tech did not know the product opr its characteristicsCrutchfield response on 12/27/2017 We were sorry to hear about John's experience. We're forwarding this on to our Tech Support supervisors, so they can look into it. Whenever you are not completely satisfied with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, please contact our Customer Support team at 1-800-955-9091. Purchases from Crutchfield can be returned or exchanged within 60 days of the purchase.
Very easy to set up and interface with my phones and computers works as advertised very impressed
Pros: Easy to set up sounds great
Cons: Would be nice to have a bigger screen on the front of the unit
Best is best
$1,400.00 worth of Amp and Power Amp purchased in 1976 were becoming almost unusable due to worn switches. Was looking for a new integrated amp that would drive very inefficient speakers (70 to 250 watt). This little gem not only replaced the amps but also the old tuner I had been using. It handles the speakers with ease and all the modern bells and whistles are a plus. I haven't pursued all the extras but I love being able to play my music library via Airplay from my computer (2 rooms away) through this receiver. The unit inputs are basic and there is no USB port. BUT what it does have more than outweighs the need for what it doesn't posses. Also, be aware this is NOT a substitute for a home theater receiver.
Pros: Replaced two amps and a tuner. Plenty of power to drive inefficient speakers. Very clean sound. Nice integration of modern cordless features (bluetooth, airplay, etc.). Many other extras. So much more than I expected for the price.
Cons: Doesn't have USB port. Can't split pre and power sections to use external power amp or insert an equalizer. Limited inputs. BUT for my needs I found none of these necessary.
great value for price
Very easy to hoop-up - even for a non-techy! Love the Bluetooth!
A Good Receiver for the money it would be better if it had a loud button for extra bass boost. I tried to hook up a EQ to use while I listen to Bluetooth or wifi be but there are no pre in/out inputs only get a visual effect. Easy setup for wifi. The music cast app is good I noticed when I play my music using the app it sounds way more clearer and crisp then when using just the Bluetooth.
OUTSTANDING PEREFORMANCE FOR THE MONEY
Great all around. I'm not audiophile but this set up right away. The small screen is the only drawback with all the net options. But you can get around that with bluetooth from another device.
It works just fine in all functions! I can operate the tuner from anywhere with my iPhone via Wi-Fi, my old AR turntable plugs directly into the back of the tuner without requiring a separate pre-amp. Life is good! Oh yeah - now I can stream the awesome tunes (Robert Mitchum singing "Thunder Road," for example) from my iPhone to the receiver!
Very functional. Remote could be more user friendly
Glad I invested in this receiver, just wish it had HDMI ports! But it is a great receiver!!!
Pros: Seperate treble and bass buttons!!
Cons: No HDMI ports
Sounds great. Easy setup. Good price on a better than basic unit
Bought this to replace a 30 year old receiver that finally gave out. It was easy to hook everything (phono, tape deck, cd player) up to get the music going again. Has a phono input with a spot for the ground wire and hooking my speakers and connecting it to my home internet network via my phone was very easy. Being able to stream music from my computer or phone to the receiver is awesome via airplay. Also has bluetooth. All the features make this a great buy if you want a dedicated stereo receiver with a few neat bells and whistles included. That includes being able to play various popular subscription music services thru the receiver. The yamaha musicCast app that can be downloaded to your phone or tablet to control some of the same things the included remote does, needs some work in my opinion. The app is not nearly as user friendly as it should be.
Pros: Great features at a great price!
Cons: MusicCast app not very user friendly
We had our old receiver for many years. It was out of date and did not have the feature needed to work with a turntable. As a surprise for my disabled husband, I bought the Yamaha R-N303 receiver after talking to one of Crutchfield's staff. It had everything we needed, including the turntable. As a plus, it would work with Sirius Radio (I use it in my car all the time), and numerous other music options, such as Pandora. It was incredibly easy for me to install and the results have been fabulous!! My husband loves the turntable capability and has been pouring over his old albums to identify which to play next. I am so happy I went with the Yahama and so thankful to Crutchfield's expert advice.
Pros: Too many to count. Ease of installation, capabilities, quality of product.
Cons: None that I have found so far.
Replaced an old power hungry 900 watt Onkyo with the Yamaha R-N303 and am impressed with the power and sound. No problem powering my old 12" 3-way speakers. The R-N303 only uses 200 watts & runs cool enough to be put in a ventilated confined space. I also use with two WX-030 wireless speakers linked & paired for stereo all controlled with my smartphone. The Musiccast system with Android capability works with no problems & sounds great, but does take a little time to get used to. Even the FM radio can be controlled by Musiccast or directly - for mature dinosaurs like me.
Pros: Power consumption, sound, Musiccast
Cons: Firmware update required first to complete installation & set-up.
Nice sound. Needs LFE connection. Trying to connect wireless to WiFi bad(I connected by wire).
Amazing features for the price. Easy to setup the WiFi and MusicCast. Originally planned on buying the more basic rs202 BL, but the extra features and phono jack makes the 303 well worth the price.
Replaced my very old and well loved Yamaha reciever and joined the internet age with this new Yamaha reciever. Very clean and simle design, all the right features and specs, and at a great price. The Wi Fi set up was a bit tricky, but Crutchfield tech support got me through it. They were great as always. The MusicCast app and fetures - a big reason why Istaid with Yamaha - was very easy to set up and is really fun to use, with all the right capabilities.
Pros: Prie, performance, internet (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.) capabilities. Set up with MusicCast was easy and is great to use.

Its low-impedance design minimizes the lengths of the audio signal paths, while placing the power supply unit near the amp unit eliminates energy loss and achieves superior drivability for optimum sound reproduction with all kinds of speakers, providing exceptionally dynamic, exciting sound.
Analog Inputs & Output: The Yamaha network receiver features four stereo analog RCA inputs (including a Phono input). There is also a stereo analog RCA output.
Phono Input: The Yamaha R-N303 stereo receiver features a dedicated Phono (MM) input for connecting your turntable and listening to your vinyl records.

In addition, compatible speakers can be bi-wired using the A & B speaker terminals simultaneously (they are wired in parallel). The eight binding-post speaker terminals that will accept bare wire (up to 10AWG), pin-connectors, and banana plugs (single or dual). If connecting one pair of speakers to either the A or B outputs, the minimum speaker impedance needs to be 8 ohms. If connecting speakers to both A & B terminals, the minimum speaker impedance needs to be 16 ohms.

You can independently adjust the bass (50Hz) and treble (20kHz) from -10dB to +10dB in 0.5 dB increments. You can also balance your connected speakers left to right.
Volume Setup: You can set the stereo receiver's maximum volume from 1-99 (1 step increments) to prevent excessive loudness. You can also set the receiver's initial volume to 1-99 (1 step increments), Off, Mute, or Max when the unit is turned on.
Wired or Wireless Network Connection: The Yamaha stereo receiver is fitted with a RJ-45 Ethernet (LAN) port to connect the receiver to your home network. AM/FM Tuner: The Yamaha R-N303 network receiver features a built-in AM/FM tuner with manual, seek, and preset tuning. The R-N303 lets you store up to 40 AM/FM station presets. You'll be able to stream the receiver's tuner, inputs, Bluetooth, and network sources to other MusicCast products installed in your home. In addition, you'll be able to stream your MusicCast products' sources to the stereo receiver. MusicCast supports the following source content.

Built-in Bluetooth: The Yamaha R-N303 is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (version 2.1+EDR) for wireless communication between Bluetooth-enabled audio source devices, headphones, and speakers. The AV receiver can act as a Bluetooth receiver in order to wirelessly stream music from an audio device, or a Bluetooth transmitter in order to wirelessly stream music to a set of BT-enabled headphones/speakers.
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Yamaha stereo receiver.
Alexa Compatible (Firmware Update Required): Alexa-enabled devices (including the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Tap and Echo Show) will soon be able to control key functions of a MusicCast system using voice commands. A firmware update (available sometime in October), will be available for download that allows key functions of MusicCast products to be controlled using your voice through Alexa-enabled devices (sold separately).
Note: You will need an Alexa-enabled device (Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Tap, or Echo Show - all sold separately) to operate certain functions of your MusicCast products via voice-command. The MusicCast components and the Alex-enabled devices must be on the same network.
IR Remote: The Yamaha R-N303 comes with an IR remote control for wireless operation of the network stereo receiver
Front-Panel Display: The R-N303 network receiver features a front-panel display to indicate audio settings, source input, station identification, and song/artist information. You can adjust the brightness of the front-panel display. This unit does not offer an on-screen display.
Gapless Playback: Many live and classical albums have no gaps in the music. Gapless playback ensures that there are no pauses between audio files. This provides playback with no interruptions, the way it was meant to be heard. Compatible with WAV, FLAC, AIFF, and ALAC music files via DLNA.
ECO Mode: When the ECO Mode is enabled, you can reduce the receiver' power consumption by keeping the maximum volume, maximum output power, and front display's brightness low. ECO mode reduces power consumption by approximately 20%.
Sleep Timer: The receiver's Sleep Timer function can be set turn the unit automatically off after 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes.
Auto Power Standby: If you don't operate the receiver or use the remote for an extended period of time, the unit will automatically go into standby mode. The Auto Power Standby feature is set at 20 minutes for Bluetooth & Network sources and 8 hours for Analog/Digital input sources, as well as the AM/FM tuner.
Firmware Updates: New firmware will be released for the purpose of additional features or product improvements. Firmware updates can be downloaded from the Yamaha website. If this unit is connected to the Internet, the receiver will indicate when a new firmware version is available and you can download the firmware via the network connection. Firmware updates normally take approximately 20 minutes or longer. Check Yamaha's Support Download Site for the most recent firmware updates.

Your product description and take on the unit, as well as the reviews. It's a gift for our son just out of college. [ Eric Dec 15, 2018 ]
I'm modernizing from a very good, but old school, analog system. Wanted a WI-FI / Bluetooth receiver with an optical in port. Really like 100 watts per channel at a relatively inexpensive price point. Hope it is 100 watts RMS. Have had other Yamaha components in the past that were built very well. Hoping this is the same. What is to argue with a receiver that also includes a phono plug. Super cool! Hope this receiver pans out to be as good in real life. [ Dan Dec 15, 2018 ]
Love Yamaha products!! I am setting up my retro room with turntable, CD player and bringing back the tape player and this unit will handle it all very well along with the Polk A7's. Will post again after delivery and set up but going to be sweet!! [ HERBERT W Dec 09, 2018 ]

I have my speakers hard wired. Sorry I can't help you with your question. I might offer this on the volume mine has to be cranked up a lot higher as far as the digital read our shows than I expected. Like in the 30s for easy listening. Which is no big deal but not what I expected. My speakers are Bose [ Lisa A. Nov 08, 2018 ]
Yes this a really good receiver to use with multiple speakers. Rather outside or in. I have it set up in zone all my inside speakers are on one zone and the outdoor on another. [ Roderick Oct 28, 2018 ]
I have my receiver inside. I used a Niles VCS HUB and am running 6 Polk speakers ( 4 outside and 2 inside). I have them paired up and use three Niles VCS Volume Controls One per speaker pair). Thus far everything works and sounds great. [ Alton Oct 28, 2018 ]
Hi David: I have had my R-N303 almost a year and love it. Of course I have indoor speakers so can't really address your specific question. but with its many special features I would think it would be great. [ jane Oct 27, 2018 ]
This Frequency is for the FM Stereo Tuner. The inputs, including Bluetooth audio is rated 20 hz - 20 Khz and in DIRECT mode (which bypasses user tone settings) 10 hz - 100 Khz. On Yamaha Receivers, Crutchfield never lists these which are in the Manual under General Specifications. And they never list the Mono FM sensitivity which is "20.8 dbf". [ Trust2Honor Nov 26, 2018 ]
All I know is it sounds good with my Bose speakers [ Thomas Oct 13, 2018 ]
Yes. As long as both are on the same Wifi. My receiver powers up speakers on my porch and it is hidden in a closet. I can turn it on and off via my iPhone and MusicCast [ Drew Sep 07, 2018 ]
I don't use either of those. I had to connect via Bluetooth. [ Cheryl Sep 07, 2018 ]
Yes, but if you have multiple iOS devices interference can cut the range down [ Mark Sep 06, 2018 ]
The line output on the R-N303 will work to transmit the audio signal from any input you have selected on the receiver. The output is fixed though; so if you're connecting an external amplifier it will need to have its own volume control. For more details or to discuss further, please contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Hope that helps! :) [ Larry Jul 12, 2018 ] Staff
The R-N303 stereo receiver provides it's own built-in amplification (100 watts x 2) for powering speakers. It does not offer a variable pre-amp output for connecting an external amp. [ Ryan Jul 06, 2018 ] Staff
I don't think so. I gave up my equalizer when I gave up my separate tuner/amp (Sansui). [ David Jun 12, 2018 ]
It will make some noise but I doubt it will give you the power you are looking for. Mine just powers some klipsch bookshelf speakers and its plenty loud for me. [ Michael May 29, 2018 ]
I don't use the MusicCast app, this device has a setting for Bluetooth. I just pair my phone or my laptop to the R-N303 and it allows me to stream iTunes or SiriusXM thru my speakers. [ Cheryl May 26, 2018 ]
I don't know about Bra specifically but my senheiser, and razors both work [ Thomas May 25, 2018 ]
Nitronik08, Sorry I don't know. I'm probably not as tech savy as you. I bought my speakers (expensive ones at that time) through the PX in Germany and have never had a need for any since then. I'm presuming the wires to my speakers, which are connected to the Yamaha are pretty much whatever was standard at that time, 35 years ago. I like my Yamaha. Rod [ Rodney B. Jun 01, 2018 ]
Not sure. [ Francis Jun 01, 2018 ]
Yes it does. That's what I am using, the original monster cable 12 gauge wire. It also fit my old Pioneer and new Polk speakers. Enjoy [ Gregory Jun 01, 2018 ]
I used 14 gauge with no issues. I would think 12 gauge would work, you have to try it. [ TODD Jun 01, 2018 ]
I'm sorry, I don't know. [ PL Jun 01, 2018 ]
I believe that you need line of sight for the remote to work. If you can pair up your iPhone or similar device with WiFi you can control the receiver from anywhere in your house. [ Alan T. Apr 18, 2018 ]
Don't think so I put a wooden board from cabinet in front of mine and it didn't work [ jane Apr 17, 2018 ]
No. I took mine out of a cabinet specifically for this reason. [ Michael Apr 17, 2018 ]
No, the remote uses an led to signal the receiver. I tested it by putting the receiver in a cabinet with the door shut. It would not respond. [ Lee Apr 10, 2018 ]
Yamaha recievers are awesomely class ab amps...i dont recommend running them with the cabinet door shut...they need to have ventilation...i never tried to runn tjem behind a wood door but i think the remote is line of sight so i would say mo...but its an awesome sounding unit ...it sounds great ....but no usb hookup to access the good dac it has thats why i ended up getting rid of this unit [ John Apr 09, 2018 ]
Hard wired using the "A" "B" switch, yes. I would like to get a second location without being hard wired. I don't know if it can be done. [ MIKE Feb 27, 2018 ]
I am not sure. I have one set of speakers that are hard wired. There are buttons on the receiver that are marked A and B for the speakers. I am assuming if you had two sets of speakers you could control which set you wanted to play or both. You should ask crutchfield techs as they are very knowledgeable. Sorry I am not any more help. [ Lisa A. Feb 27, 2018 ]
Yes, through MusicCast. You can also play different music to both zones simultaneously as well. I have not got my outside speakers yet, so unfortunately , I have not been able to check that out yet. [ Gregory Feb 27, 2018 ]
Yes. I have mine set up to play on my deck or great room either separately or at the same time. [ John Feb 27, 2018 ]
Yes, but with limits. You can connect A and B speakers, but they will always play the same inputs at the same volume. I have the B pair connected in the kitchen with a separate Niles volume controller. [ Robert Feb 27, 2018 ]
No, your go to go [ Kenneth Feb 19, 2018 ]
If the tv has an optical cable out put you hook that to your yamaha reciever than anything you play on your tv will go through the yamaha reciever [ John Feb 01, 2018 ]
The receiver has one line out that uses stereo RCA jacks. You should be able connect to your TV with these. [ Lee Jan 31, 2018 ]
Not known - just received my receiver and have not played with it that much as yet. [ Charles Jan 16, 2018 ]
Unknown. You might be able to look at the owners manual online and look for that possibility. [ David Jan 15, 2018 ]
No, two at any given time is the limit. We have four speakers, two upstairs and two down. Yamaha is incredibly reliable, basically trouble-free for years and years. But I would bump up to one of their more powerful models. [ STEVEN Jan 15, 2018 ]
I have not tried. It only has A and B speaker ports. I would think if you tried to hook up more speakers in a series circuit the resistance would be too much. But give it a try. Who knows. What about a receiver with more ports? 5-2, 7-2 [ PATRICK Jan 13, 2018 ]
No, you need 8 ohm speakers [ Rebekah Jan 11, 2018 ]
I HAVE USED IT WITH 4,6 AND 8 OHM SPEAKERS AND THEY SOUND BEST AT 4 OHMS,BUT 6 WILL STILL DO THE JOB. [ Paul Jan 11, 2018 ]
Yes, but only at moderate volume levels. To be safe, I would set the max volume limiter to 70% and see how warm the chassis gets, then adjust down if needed. [ Albert Jan 11, 2018 ]
I'm running BOSE 901 with no problems [ Kenneth Jan 11, 2018 ]
Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget. [ Krissy Dec 30, 2017 ] Staff
Since speaker impedance is measured in ohms, Thevenin's theorem (8*16)/(8+16) = 5.333 ohms - not recommended. The key is to watch your heat because the manual isn't clear on the North American model. [ Albert Dec 06, 2017 ]
The latest information we received from Yamaha indicates the R-N303 receiver only supports the original Apple AirPlay (or "AirPlay 1") technology at this time. Given that AirPlay 2 was just recently announced by Apple, it's not certain whether "AirPlay 1" components can be updated to support AirPlay 2 features. As soon as we have more information in that regard, we will be sure to update our website accordingly. If you'd like to discuss further, please feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Thanks! [ Larry Dec 13, 2017 ] Staff
