So far so good. Runs great. Wish it had a little more power. Has just enough for our mid sized living room. Not quite as much kick as my Denon AVR1804 it replaced. All of the features are amazing though. Relatively easy setup and functionality. I really enjoy the bluetooth.

Pros: Great features for the price range.

Cons: Not really a con, but I would recommend a little higher end receiver for mid size to large rooms.

    Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Awesome update for my old Onkyo receiver! The sound is very good, the channel differentiation is very notable, there's plenty of connection options, which helped me simplify my connections and reduce cable clutter, and as always, Crutchfield helped before and after the purchase with awesome customer support.

Pros: Great sound, great price, very helpful setup menu, very good value for the price paid

Cons: Setup interface could receive a more modern look.

Really impressed with the sound and quality of the receiver. The interface could use an update but works well once you get used to it. The service from Crutchfield is outstanding and package arrived when stated. Would recommend this Denon unit.

Pros: Packed with features for a budget receiver.

Cons: Would like the unit to be thinner.

Product failed after 6 months. Crutchfield directed to Denon. Denon wants the unit to be sent to their shop. To get the box 5-7 days and then repair. Worst customer service. Regretting having bought this item.

    Pros: Initially worked well

    Cons: Worst customer service

    Great entry level Atmos receiver.

    Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Paired this receiver with Polk Signature S50 and the Polk HTS10 sub for a starter set-up in the bedroom. It has everything I could want in a receiver. It delivers plenty of power to the S50's and has a load of inputs. I like the Apple airplay ability as well. One quirk is when playing in Apple airplay mode, the sub doesn't come on. It works with every other input but airplay. I can get it to come on if I switch the EQ mode but just kind of weird. Other than that it's been great!

Pros: Loads of inputs and set-up options for the price. Plenty of power for smaller speakers.

Cons: Weird airplay quirks, but that's probably a software issue.

Works as expected. Setup was pretty straightforward following on screan instructions. However, everything from the remote control to the onscreen setup manual looked and felt so yesterday as if it was from the 1990's. In the age of Sonos, this thing looks a bit like an antique.

Love the new setup process my older model required a PHD in electronics. Also Love the Apple Play interface and the sound is great. This unit has a second room option and it can all be controlled from your Iphone. Connecting a turntable and Sirius/XM was a Bit tricky but the programmable ports fixed that. Overall this unit is one of the best we have owned and the price was right.

Pros: Auto configuration, Second Room sound, very good price, Apple Play Interface

Cons: Connecting Turntable and XM Radio Tricky

Nice features, lots of setup options and poor sound. Even with hours of tweaking the sound, it was tinny and hollow sounding. I paired it with a 12" subwoofer and could not get it dialed in for anything. Was going to use for a home theater, but severely disappointed.

    Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Purchased these to replace a 20+ year old Sony 5.1 receiver that failed. (Non-AVR) Decided to take this failure and upgrade to an AVR system. Paired this with new Polk TL250 speakers, reused the Sony powered woofer and WOW - this is real great sound. Even the wife likes this sound much better. The system is now 7.1 and paired this with a logitech remote and Alexa.

Pros: Excellent price point. great sound. Remote App allows setup changes as needed. Easy setup

Cons: Very limited Alexa commands - basically mute/unmute. Volume control is spotty, unable to switch inputs reliably, if at all.

The Denon AVR is the best for me.

JC from Saint Augustine, FL on 2/26/2019

    Verified customer (What's this?)
    Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I purchased the Denon AVR-X1400H receiver to use in my bedroom so I currently only have front speakers and a subwoofer connected to it. The sound is very full range and clear. I believe if you use the mic to auto set up the sound system it would be a lot easier than the manual setup. By adding the android or the ipad control for this Denon AVR I believe the set up becomes more interactive. The ability to listen to bluetooth audio and watch any video source connected to this receiver at he same time is amazing. If you want to boost any treble, bass or subwoofer level there are many different ways to do this. Also, this receiver runs cool which should allow it to work for years without worry of thermal failure. If this receiver meets your specs give it a try. You have 60 days to send it back to Crutchfield but you will unlikely want to do that.

Pros: Sounds great and is very flexible in the set up options. The receiver runs cool which is very rare these days.

Cons: The power output level might be a little light for a large home theater set up.

AV Receiver was inferior to previous one that I owned; although I was assured by Crutchfield rep that it was the same or better. Worse than that, I returned it via UPS on the 11th. I was assured that refund would be issued within 2-3 business days. Called on the 14th and was told return was received and refund was issued; yet no refund on my American Express. Today is the 25th of the month and still no refund to my credit card. So much for 2-3 business days! Called today and was again told refund is being issued. I would not buy from this company again!

    Pros:

    Cons:

    Crutchfield response on 3/4/2019
We're sorry your purchase didn't work out. Then to make things worse, we didn't get your refund processed in a timely manner, due to an error on our side. We regret that this happened, and will use your feedback to help us avoid these types of errors in the future.

    A great value in AVRs!

Crutchfield customer from Euless, TX on 2/25/2019

Great AVR at a very reasonable price point. It replaced a NAD unit that died. Plenty of features I like. Now I can pass through 4K movies, listen to the hundreds of songs on my iPhone, listen to my local classical FM station effortlessly. Great remote control accesses all the features easily. Quick mailing service by Crutchfield, my fist go to for electronics. Only negative was the Denon carton was soaked on one side and is unusable. I 've enjoyed the unit for several weeks, so I see no need for the box for a return. I purchased this Denon on the sales associate's recommendation. Sure works for me.

Pros: All features are easy to access via remote control.

Cons: The two plastic knobs feel flimsy and cheap.

First about the Denon X1400H, it is an awesome receiver, I was sure in the dark about how far things had change from my previous receiver (Onkyo HT in a box), the setup was super intuitive, the Audissey thing can be a little tricky but I used the manual EQ and got everything sounding awesome with my Polk Monitor 40's SII speakers and Polk sub. Tom a tech from the support line recomended this unit as a replacement for an Onkyo that just didn't sound right. and he just right on point on how awesome this unit is for the price. The sound is amazing and the mount of tweeks is great, you can really get in there and set things just like you like. My turntable came alive with this unit! Cruthfield customer support was just amazing, I called with some questions about the setup and they answered on a Saturday!! and the tech was very helpful and knew the unit and helped me with my questions and even explained a little theory. Just awsome service. The Denon is amazing, it has enough inputs and the onscreen setup is great.

Pros: Great price, lots of configuration options, manual eq, onscreen setup, wifi, Heos app, lots of features for this first in the lineup...

Cons: none that I can think of...

The am very happy with the Denon AVR-X1400H. The main reason I purchased this was for the HEOS system. I wanted something that would play music from my server or USB device, that I could control remotely with an Android tablet. The HEOS function exceeded my expectations. The sound quality and features on the Denon are very good, especially for the price.

Pros: Lots of features for the price. HEOS feature works great

Upgraded from a Marantz NR1403 and needed 4K HDR passthrough for a Samsung Q6 QLED TV. Considering most of my content will be streamed via Apple TV and sound will be output through Definitive Technology BP9000 speakers, the Denon AVR-X1400H is the perfect mix of technology, inputs and power. Also Crutchfield customer services is simply the best. Tip: Be sure to conduct a firmware update via Ethernet and not WIFI as this will resolve some possible latency issues with certain HDMI cables and other components.

Pros: HDCP 2.2/4K HDR/HDR 10 and Dolby Vision

Cons: No Pre-Outs/The remote is extremely jumpy when changing volume

I shopped a lot of different units in this price range and was about to go with the Sony but then I found this one with more features and the warranty is better. Very awesome!

I have owned a Denon receiver before, but this one actually blows my sox off. All of my video sources use HTMI connections, so hooking them up was super easy. All connections are clearly marked. Switching inputs is super easy no matter how you do it (front panel, remote, cell phone HEOS app, or Alexa. My wife loves using Alexa rather than the remote. The physical size of the unit is relatively small and fits right in to our decor. The visual image seems to be enhanced, since it looks better with this unit, than before. I will trade up to 4X soon (I expect the visual will be that much better). The audio is just awesome! All my music sounds great on the speaker I had moved over to this unit. The environment selections are well thought out and they do make a big difference. Setting the controls by using Audyssey was pleasantly surprisingly good. I look forward to using this unit as my main sound system throughout the house with additional HEOS speakers. Even-though this is the bottom of the "in-command" line, it fulfills all of my present audio/visual needs and has room for future upgrades. I could not be more pleased!

Pros: Ease of installation, ease of use, excellent build, audio sensational, video excellent, whole house capability

Cons: None that I can think of

I recently upgraded from a tired, old Sony receiver to this Denon because I wanted something that would decode the newer sound fields. Never owned a Denon product before and I was concerned the menus would be unfamiliar and therefore difficult to navigate, but they're not. Running sound through higher end Polk speakers and a beefy KLH sub (7.1) and the sound is magnificent. Highly recommended!

Fantastic receiver, it has even improved the color of my TCL 605P 4k tv. One word of caution, my TCL doesnt recognize the Denon for HDMI CEC control. Also not a good fit for Roku TV due to having to manually select inputs for sound once in the Roku home screen.

Pros: Plenty of HDMI inputs for my use. Improved the color of my 4k TV. Lots of DSP for movies, music and games.

Pro - Lots of features, online streaming works great, solid amp, clean uncluttered remote Cons - setup complicated, menu system confusing but so are all the other brands) The biggest con is the sound. I used it for just music, but found the same using as a AVS, and it lacked clarity, detail, space, and absolutely no ability to handle complex music. Vocals were muddy. So just to be sure it wasn't my ears, I bought an Onkyo 8260 to compare sound. The Onkyo was clear hi and low ends, detailed, balanced, authoritative, and voices had real presence. There was no comparison - the Onkyo took the prize. It's a shame. I had good luck with Denon in years past, but this one misses the boat. Go with an Onkyo.

Replaced a failing Onkyo receiver in my living room and my listening experience improved dramatically. The Denon sounds betters and has better multi-channel audio support than my previous receiver. For the price, you can't beat it!

Pros: Great speaker setup process. Solid receiver with tons of power for my 5.1 setup.

Cons: One thing I would improve is the on-screen interface is a bit dated, feels very 1990s; its favors function over form.

I rarely write reviews. The Denon 1400 receiver warranted one. Crutchfield expertly recommended this receiver to me, and I have been superbly impressed with its' performance: set-up, usability, compatibility with Apple products and Amazon Echo. I bought this to replace a 10 year old Onkyo receiver and to go with my new Samsung Qled . The Onkyp still worked but the remote ( even after buying a new remote control ) does not respond until you wear your finger out continuously pressing buttons . For the price I am very happy with this receiver . I love the Bluetooth ability to listen to music from my Iphone . Also the HDMI pass-through is nice as the old Onkyo didn't have that feature . I'm not an audiophile but I love music and we like to watch movies occasionally and this certainly does what I want and need plus .

I found the Denon unit a perfect replacement for my ancient Pioneer receiver in my home theater system. I connected the unit to my 4K Samsung tv using the ARC HDMI input and followed the setup screens displayed by the Denon receiver on my tv. Sound quality from each of the tv apps is excellent. The dolby digital stereo output is superb. I would highly recommend this unit.

I have been using the same great Technics receiver for 20 years. I put off replacing it because I did not think anything new could improve on the sound or usefulness. I was wrong. Wow! A lot has changed in 20 years. This Denon instantly recognizes each of the attached components and tweaks the speaker settings and sound mode for the best settings. This Denon easily connected to my wi-fi and paired well with my blue tooth devices. The HELOS App has been easy to use. I love being able to control the receiver from phone, including turning it on/off, setting the music source, streaming from my phone, and playing music from the USB. Even though my old receiver had DTS and 5.1 and surround sound etc, this new receiver processes the sounds even better through the same 20 year old Cervin Vegas that had been connected to the old receiver.

Replaced a 15-year-old Denon AVR and I am pleased with the difference in sound The 1400 connected easily to my Panasonic plasma TV, Panasonic Blu-Ray, and DirecTV Genie via HDMI. I kept my Infinity bookshelf speakers and subwoofer and they sound great. The center channel has cleared up the dialogue in movies. The Audyssey setup failed for one speaker (technician error?) so I set up the speakers manually with ease. The setup screens are text-based and required some trial and error when I got into the sub menus. The manual is over 200 pages and is worth downloading. The index helped me find the topics I was looking for and identify the button pushing sequence on the remote. I need more study time to discover all the features.

A great price from Crutchfield on a great AVR from Denon. Delivery was quick. Setup was actually pretty easy. We use this in a two zone setup and it has functioned as advertised. We enjoy being able to both stream music and get home theater surround sound out of one unit. The smart phone app makes it a breeze to change setting as need.

Pros: Easy setup Versatile Contemporary feature set

Cons: Occasionally the CEC doesn't respond to Apple TV and change input source as expected, but this is rare and it works fine 99% of the time.

Poor execution in so many areas

You're forced to go online for the manual, and it's pretty cryptic in certain sections. All I needed was 4 speaker stereo, but could never get the sound levels to be even across all 4 speakers, even after following the guide and calling Crutchfield support. I ended up just putting the speakers in parallel and setting the receiver to 4 ohm load. That was another area of inconsistency, many functions were controlled by the remote while others were done with finger contortion on specific buttons on the front panel (and with multiple tries). Finally, the OSD absolutely SUCKS. Think old 8 bit video game text. This was one of the main features I needed for the receiver...easy to read input labels on the TV. Absolutely terrible. It's 2018 and manufacturers still seem to struggle with user interface fails. It's as if this stuff is all afterthoughts. I always thought Denon was considered a high end brand. Not impressed at all...

I Received the Denon AVR-X1400H about a week ago and so far I am very impressed. My previous Denon receiver only lasted about 15 years and I wasn't going to buy another but the price and features of the AVR-X1400 convinced me to take another chance . The set up instructions enabled me to pretty much get all of my components up and running. Although I do not have a surround sound speaker set up yet the traditional stereo speaker arrangement I do have sounded much better with the new receiver. Being able to run the TV , Bluetooth devices, and control sound in multiple rooms through the receiver has really impressed this 66 year old luddite! For the set up situations I couldn't figure out myself the Crutchfield technicians were a phone call away and they were great...one of the main reasons why I do business with Crutchfield.

Pros: Great sound, easy to set up & use, great support from Crutchfield technicians.

Cons: None yet I just hope it outlasts my former Denon receiver which I feel died prematurely.

This receiver does everything I need it to do. Setup was fairly easy but the display looks a little chunky. It take a little while to figure everything out so that I can just tell my wife to "hit this button" or my son to "turn on this setting for the game". Couple of thoughts: * I like that I can disable most of the inputs that I do not use. * I dislike that I cannot disable the Heos internet radio stuff. I have a steam shield for that. * I don't think the audessy sound setup was that amazing. I had to tweak the volume for the center and rear channels. * Listening to stereo tracks during surround sound can sometimes not sample well. Again, that is probably not an issue with the receiver. It's been a couple residences since I've had a surround sound setup so this could be par for the course. * Setup Wizard was awesome.

My receiver was delivered a couple of weeks ago and I have not found anything to dislike. I bought a Denon receiver ten years ago and I found the controls were very nonintuitive. I never got comfortable with that receiver. This new one has none of those problems. The controls are intuitive, the functions do what they claim to do, plus this receiver has more power and cost half of the ten year ago receiver. Denon has gone all-in on HDMI, no component or composite inputs, but for today's technology that is alright.

This is a phenomenal product. my 30+ year old Denon PMA-500V amplifier finally died, and I'm amazed at the now-current features the 1400 includes. The setup wizard and included microphone are terrific, the networking, zone controls and clean power and noteworthy. And the outstanding support Crutchfield gave me in arriving at this choice was top notch. I am torn between using the full 7.2 or breaking into two zones so that I can listen to two separate sources in the same room at once. I was SO happy when I realized I could have the radio on in the back of my office and the computers/TV on the "front" -- this is accomplished by assigning the rear speaker pair to "zone two." The 7.2 surround is terrific... so this is a touch long-term choice, do I stick with two zones or setup for great surround?

Pros: Great guided setup, terrific, clean power.

Cons: The black mid-line buttons on the front panel are hard to read, study them up close at first so that you are aware of what's available on the front panel!

I am still messing around with it, but there are few things I think it should do that it doesn't (like being able to tell Alexa to play a song in a certain zone). I've been unable to get it to switch inputs via Alexa ("Alexa.. swtich to HDMI Zone 1 on Family Room". Maybe it's Alexa... maybe it's me, but I am 99% sure I am doing what the instructions say.

Pros: It does everything the specs say it does.

    Cons: Alexa integration isn't perfect

We upgraded our audio system and the Denon replaced a 2000 vintage Yamaha A/V receiver. Extremely pleased with the Denon. Wi-Fi capability is very good and the HEOS app is great from either our iPhones or iPads. Set up via the on screen menus was pretty straightforward including the speaker (Polk RTi-A5's and CSi-A4) calibration. For a "deeper dive" the owner's manual on the Denon website is very good. Will probably buy HEOS speakers for the bedroom upstairs in the near future. Buzz at Crutchfield was great. They have a very knowledgeable staff.

Pros: great connectivity great sound love the HEOS app setup reasonably straightforward

    Cons: None

Totally in love with it! Purchased to replace an outdated Denon. Looked at several in the line, as well as some Yamaha, Onkyo & Harmon-Kardon. This solves several of the shortcomings with my old unit (circa 2006). Setup was super easy with the on-screen menus & much better performance from Audessy. Remote is drastically better the before. Sound quality is fantastic from all sources (wouldn't say I'm a true audiophile, but I am pickier than most). Handles 4K, HDCP 2.2 well. Family is able to run it easily without jacking up the settings. The Android app is also a nice addition, no issues there. I don't have any HEOS speakers, but have tried streaming from the app. It's ok but wish there was a screensaver option for the TV (same for the internet radio). Not much use for it unless they bring in Google Play Music, just Pandora through the Roku instead. Absolutely no regrets. In a 6.1 configuration, paired with DefTech ProCinema 600 package & 1000 ProCenter, Roku Premier+, Samsung 8500 4K blu-ray, all to an LG 65in OLED.

Pros: sound quality 4K handling easy setup via on-screen menus

Cons: somewhat clunky HEOS app & onscreen presentation for BT audio no Google Play Music option for BT no TV screensaver for tuner/BT/HEOS sources

    Amazing A/V Receiver!

Amazing A/V receiver! The available video inputs are great: all HDMI inputs support 4K/HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 with Dolby Vision/HDR10/HLG. Build quality is great and looks premium (plastic-finished front, aluminum body, plastic feet that do not rattle) -- you would have to touch and feel to tell that the front is plastic. ECO mode is a great feature. Auto ECO automatically turns on ECO mode (lower wattage and reduces bass) when the volume is set to 45 or lower. Sound output is amazing even for a entry-level, lower wattage A/V receiver (80W/channel). Previously, I had a Yamaha RX-V679 and I actually prefer this Denon AVR-X1400H's sound production over the Yamaha even after tweaking. To me: Denon is fully balanced across the full range of lows/mids/highs; in the Yamaha, it felt like the mids were significantly lacking (requiring increasing the Dialog level and center channel level). Denon's Audyssey MultEQ XT speaker setup was long (10 minutes), but very accurate and required very little tweaking (this is compared to Yamaha's YPAO which was quick, but I had to do a lot of tweaking). One thing to note is that the GUI menu overlay over 4K does not work (i.e. volume/mute display). It does work for Setup; the receiver just switches the display to 720p temporarily to display the GUI menu on screen then switches back. You just have to live with looking at the receiver's display for changing volume and the 5 second delay for your TV to switch display output when doin

Pros: Guided setup, 4K Dolby Vision/HDR10/HLG support, Audyssey MultEQ XT speaker setup was accurate and required little tweaking, wifi support, Denon smartphone app support (over wifi), ECO mode

Cons: GUI overlay does not work over 4K video (i.e. volume display); only works for setup menu and output needs to switch to 720p for setup screen, No video upconversion/enhancement, Audyssey MultEQ XT can take awhile to setup (10 minutes)

Discrete Amplification: The Denon AVR-X1400H AV receiver features a powerful Class AB power amplifier section equipped with discrete high current power transistors. This discrete amplifier design delivers optimum realism and stunning dynamic range. By using high current, high power discrete power devices, the amplifier is able to easily drive high quality speakers. The AV receiver's seven channel Class AB amplifier is rated at 80-watts (into 8-ohms, at 20-20kHz, with 0.08% THD, driving 2 channels).

Amplifier Assignment: The AVR-X1400H's seven discrete amplifier channels can be configured to accommodate your type of home theater setup.

    • Surround Back: The AV receiver's amplifier channels can be configured as Front Left/Right, Center, Surround Left/Right, and Surround Back Left/Right for Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD 7.1ch playback.
    • Front Height: The receiver's amplifier channels can also be configured as Front Left/Right, Front Height Left/Right, Center, and Surround Left/Right for more front effects during 7.1ch playback.
    • Top Front/Middle: This amplifier configuration provides 5.1.2ch playback using top front or top middle speakers for Dolby Atmos or DTS:X.
    • Dolby Front/Surround: This amplifier configuration provides 5.1.2ch playback using front or surround Dolby Atmos enabled speakers.
    • Bi-Amp: You can configure the amplifier for front bi-amp operation to achieve a higher-quality 2-channel sound by connecting the receiver's front and surround back channels to your main front speakers (if compatible). Receiver will be limited to 5.1ch surround.
    • Zone 2: The AVR-X1400H's amplifier channels can be configured as Front Left/Right, Center, Surround Left/Right, and Zone 2 for Dolby Digital & DTS 5.1ch playback in the main zone and 2ch PCM playback in the second zone.
    • Front B: A second set of front speakers can be powered by the surround back amplifier; the receiver will be limited to 5.1ch surround. This is useful when you want to have a dedicated pair of 2ch speakers, in addition to your home theater speakers. If you choose to play the Front A and Front B speakers at the same time, Front B will play the same exact audio source and audio signal as Front A without down-mixing.

Quad-Core 32-Bit DSP: Featuring an advanced quad-core 32-bit DSP processor, the AVR-X1400H easily handles a wide variety of Dolby Digital & DTS audio formats; including Dolby Atmos & DTS:X (firmware updated required). The DSP chip features tremendous processing power with four 300-MHz DSP cores that can process over 1 billion computations per second.

Compatible Digital Audio Formats: The AV receiver supports the following stereo & multichannel digital audio formats through its HDMI jacks and optical/coax digital inputs.

Digital Audio Connector Audio Signal Type Audio Signal Format
    HDMI 2Ch Linear PCM 2ch, 32-192kHz, 16/20/24-bit

Bitstream Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, DTS, DTS ES, DTS 96/24

Immersive Surround Sound: The Denon AVR-X1400H AV receiver goes beyond regular surround with the latest immersive surround sound formats - like Dolby Atmos or Dolby Surround and DTS:X or DTS Neural:X.

    • Dolby Atmos: Dolby Atmos surround sound technology dispenses with channel-based coding in favor of more advanced object-based coding, giving the soundtrack designer the ability to precisely place sounds anywhere in the 3-dimensional space. Now you can enjoy this same award-winning technology at home with the AVR-X1400H that lets you connect a 5.1 surround sound speaker system and 2 additional overhead speakers or 2 Dolby Atmos elevation speakers for the ultimate home theater experience.
    • Dolby Surround: Dolby Surround offers an enhanced cinema experience to your 2ch or multichannel movie soundtracks using your existing 5.1ch, 7.1ch, or Dolby Atmos speaker setup. Dolby Surround enhances audio definition by improving the spatial dimension and overall audio definition of movie soundtracks. It does this by using four distinct surround zones that provide greater control over the exact placement of each detail in a movie sound track, so audio can be matched more accurately to the video on screen; this means more depth and greater realism for your movies. As a result, individual sounds are clearer and more distinct. It also improves the surround sound experience across the entire theater by widening the listening "sweet spot".
    • DTS:X: The latest immersive surround sound system, DTS:X features object-based audio coding that lets the soundtrack designer place sonic elements anywhere in the 3D acoustic soundspace, and provides for overhead speakers to deliver a stunning surround sound experience. Along with DTS:X decoding, the AVR-X1400H features DTS-HD Master Audio decoding and other DTS audio technologies.
    • DTS Neural:X: Further, DTS:X incorporates Neural:X, the latest spatial remapping technology from DTS, which provides a fully immersive output for all types of source content; this includes DTS bitstreams and non-encoded (PCM) data. Neural:X delivers a thrilling sense of immersive sound to your speaker layout regardless of the original source format.

Audyssey Silver: The AVR-X1400H features the Audyssey Silver suite of powerful DSP features; including MultEQ XT, Dynamic Volume, and Dynamic EQ.

    • MultEQ XT: Via the supplied measuring microphone, Audyssey MultEQ measures all the speakers in your home theater during setup, including the subwoofer, and then generates multiple high precision DSP room acoustic correction filters, which together provide smoothest and most natural tonal balance, regardless of the brand or model of the various speakers. Up to eight listening positions can be measured, configured, and recorded. MultEQ XT compensates for both time and frequency characteristics of the listening area based on "Audyssey Setup" measurement results. Selection is done from three types of compensation curves - Reference (default and recommended, L/R Bypass, Flat, and Off).
    • Dynamic Volume: Audyssey Dynamic Volume features advanced psycho-acoustic processing to deliver clear dialog and wide range sound at reduced volume levels so that you can enjoy theater-level clarity at whatever listening level you choose.
    • Dynamic EQ: Audyssey Dynamic EQ also features advanced DSP processing to deliver full range wide-band response, even at reduced volume levels. Dynamic EQ Reference Level Offset provides three offsets from the film level reference (5 dB, 10 dB, and 15 dB) that can be selected when the mix level of the content is not within the standard.

Listening Modes: You can choose between a variety of Denon Original listening modes or two Direct modes.

    • Denon Original Listening Modes: Denon's Original Listening Modes, combined with Dolby Digital/DTS processing, produce more realistic, powerful sound effects for your movie and music sound tracks based on the type of content and your home theater setup. Choose between Rock Arena, Jazz Club, Matrix, Video Game, Mono Movie, Multichannel Stereo, or Virtual (surround from only front speakers or headphones).
    • Direct Listening Modes: The Denon AVR-X1400H offers two Direct Listening Modes which bypass the receiver's tone & DSP processing for higher sound quality performance. Direct Mode provides playback of 2ch or Multichannel audio in its original form, without any surround or tone processing. Pure Direct Mode goes a step further by turning off the receiver's display and analog video circuitry to minimize the possibility of any noise being added to the audio signal.

Audio Enhancements: The Denon AVR-X1400H receiver provides various audio enhancements to deliver a high-quality listening experience every time.

    • CINEMA EQ (Cinema Equalizer): The Cinema EQ function gently decreases the level of the extreme high frequencies, compensating for overly-bright sounding motion picture soundtracks. Select this function if the sound from the front speakers is too bright. This function only works in the Dolby Digital & DTS modes.
    • Compressed Audio Restorer: Compressed audio formats such as MP3, WMA (Windows Media Audio), and MPEG-4 AAC reduce the amount of data by eliminating signal components that are hard for the human ear to hear. The Restorer function generates the signals eliminated upon compression, restoring the sound to conditions near those of the original sound before compression. It also corrects the sense of volume of the bass to obtain richer sound with compressed audio signals.
    • Dynamic Range Compression (DRC): Motion picture soundtracks have tremendous dynamic range (the contrast between very soft and very loud sounds). For listening late at night, or whenever the maximum sound level is lower than usual, Compressing the dynamic range allows you to hear all of the sounds in the soundtrack with reduced dynamic range. DRC works when playing program sources recorded in Dolby Digital or DTS.
    • Room Size: The receiver's audio output can be set to simulate the acoustics of a Small, Medium Small, Medium (default), Medium Large, or Large room environment. This setting is not an indication of the actual size of your listening area.

Level Adjustments: The AVR-X1400H provides the following level adjustments.

    • Source Level: This function adjusts the playback level of the currently selected input source's audio input. Use this feature if there are differences in the input volume levels between different sources. You can correct the playback level of the audio input from -12 to +12dB.
    • Dialogue Level: You can adjust the output level (+/-12dB) to increase the dialogue output from the center channel.
    • Subwoofer Level: You can set the receiver's subwoofer output level (+/-12dB) independent from the other speaker levels and system's main volume.

Volume Settings: The AVR-X1400H offers the following volume settings.

    • Volume Scale: You can choose to display an Absolute volume scale (0-98) or Relative volume scale (-79.5 to 18dB).
    • Volume Limit: You can set a maximum volume level of 0, -10, or -20 dB to limit the receiver's total volume output.
    • Power On Level: You can define the volume setting that is active when the power is turned on (0, 1-98, -79 to +18dB, or Last).
    • Mute Level: You can set the amount of attenuation for the audio muting circuit; -40dB or -20dB below current volume, or full mute (sound turned off entirely).

Audio Outputs: The Denon AV receiver features color-coded binding-post speaker terminals, dual sub outputs, and a front-panel headphone jack.

    • Color-Coded Speaker Terminals: The receiver has binding-post terminals for all speaker connections. The binding-post terminals can accept bare wire, pin connectors, and banana plugs (single/dual). The receiver will accept speaker impedances of 4 to 16-ohm. The AV receiver comes with color-coded labels to easily identify which channel a speaker cable should be connected to. Since the speaker cables have labels in the same colors as the connectors on the AVR-X1400H's rear panel, there's no longer any confusion about which terminals they should be connected to.
    • Dual Sub Outputs: For compatibility with dual subwoofer home theater systems, the AVR-X1400H features two non-discrete subwoofer outputs. With dual subwoofers, which can be placed in different parts of the room, you'll benefit from response averaging, which helps provide smoother and more detailed deep bass, compared to a conventional single subwoofer speaker system. The same signal is output from each sub output.
    • Headphone Jack: When headphones are plugged into the full-size 1/4" jack on the front panel, all the speakers are automatically muted.

    Video Section

HDMI 2.0b: Featuring six HDMI inputs (including one conveniently located on the front-panel) and one HDMI output, the AVR-X1400H incorporates an advanced video section that features the latest HDMI 2.0b specification, including support for 4K/60 Hz Ultra-HD video, 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling, BT.2020 Wide Color Gamut, High Dynamic Range (HDR), and 21:9 video pass-through. The AVR-X1400H also features HDCP 2.2 compatibility, a requirement for 4K Ultra HD copy-protected content.

    • 4K/60Hz Pass-Through: The AVR-X1400H supports up to 4K (3840x2160 pixels) video @ 60 frames per second on all of its HDMI inputs and output (pass-through only). It will also pass a 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, or 1080p video signals via HDMI.
    • HDCP 2.2: All of the receiver's HDMI jacks support HDCP 2.2, which fully complies with the latest copyright protection standard for 4K video transmission.
    • 4:4:4 Color Subsampling: All of the receiver's rear-panel HDMI jacks support RGB, YCbCr 4:4:4, YCbCr 4:2:2, and YCbCr 4:2:0 color subsampling (@ 60Hz or 50Hz). With 4:4:4 color subsampling, luminance (brightness) and chroma (color) are sampled at the same rate; resulting in an RGB color palette as big as the video sampling rate for a video image with more colors, plus greater color accuracy and detail. The front-panel HDMI only supports 4K 60/50Hz using format YCbCr 4:2:0 only.
    • Wide Color Gamut (BT.2020): The BT.2020 color standard delivers a much wider color gamut and represents about 75% of the total visual color spectrum, while the current Rec. 709 color standard selected as the color space for HDTVs and early generation 4K Ultra HDTVs covers only 35% of the total visual color spectrum.
    • 21:9 Aspect Ratio: By supporting 21:9 aspect ratio, this receiver can show films recorded in the Cinema Scope format on your TV for a much more immersive video experience. When these types of films are viewed in the usual 16:9 ratio, you see black bars at the top and bottom of the screen; 21:9 eliminates these bars.

HDR Compatibility: HDR provides enhanced picture quality by simultaneously enabling greater detail for both the dark and bright parts of an image. HDR reproduces a greater dynamic range of luminosity or brightness levels, creating greater contrast. This increased contrast reveals the subtle nuances of the image, from detailed blacks and shadows to the brightest whites and colors, plus greater depth. The receiver supports HDR 10, Dolby Vision, and HLG (via 2017 firmware update).

    • HDR 10: HDR 10 is an open standard and currently the most popular HDR format on the market. It supports 10-bit color and 1,000 nits. It uses static metadata at the start of a movie to tell the receiver and your TV that the video content is encoded using HDR.
    • HLG (via 2017 Firmware Update): HLG (Hybrid-Log Gamma) is primarily designed for live video feed and over-the-air broadcasts. It uses no pre-encoded metadata and is backwards compatible with SDR. HLG's native compatibility allows much of today's existing SDR infrastructure to be re-used for HDR in the future.
    • Dolby Vision: Unlike HDR 10 which contains static metadata and HLG which uses no metadata, Dolby Vision utilizes dynamic metadata which adjusts brightness, color, and contrast automatically for each scene. Dynamic metadata carries information that maps every image to your TV's display capabilities, so you see more of what the content creator intended. Dolby Vision supports 12-bit color and 10,000 nits.

Other HDMI Features: The Denon AVR-X1400H AV receiver's HDMI connectivity also offers 3D video pass-through, ARC (Audio Return Channel), Deep Color & x.v.Color support, as well as an auto LipSync function.

    • 3D Ready: The AVR-X1400H AV receiver supports 3D video pass-through (720p/1080p only) from connected 3D-compatible Blu-ray, games and broadcast devices to 3D-compatible HDTVs (all 3D components must be connected via HDMI). Special eyewear will be required for viewing 3D content.
    • ARC (Audio Return Channel): This feature of the AVR-X1400H's HDMI monitor output allows audio to be sent from your compatible HDTV to the receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio and video to your HDTV. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to your television.
    • Deep Color & x.v.Color Support: The AV receiver supports Deep Color and x.v.Color content, which can display a larger color range than standard-definition schemes. The result is a more lifelike, vibrant picture.
    • LipSync: This function adjusts the delay between audio and video output. You can do this manually or have the receiver set the LipSync function automatically. When connected to a TV via HDMI the receiver automatically adjusts audio output timing (0-500ms) if the TV supports an automatic LipSync function. You can also manually delay the sound output up to 500ms to synchronize it with the video image.

HDMI Standby Pass-Through: When the AV receiver is in "Standby" mode and the HDMI Standby Pass-Through function is enabled, both audio/video streams from the receivers HDMI input will be output to your television, via the AV receiver's HDMI monitor output. Once the receiver is turned "On", only video will pass through the monitor output to your TV and the audio is directed to the receiver's speaker outputs.

    • HDMI Input: Selects the HDMI Input for which the HDMI Standby Pass-Through function is enabled.
    • Last: The HDMI Standby-Through function is activated on the input source selected at the time of setting the AV receiver to the "Standby" mode.
    • Off: The HDMI Standby Pass-Through function is disabled.

Composite Video Inputs/Output: The receiver features two composite video inputs and one composite video monitor output (480i only). You must connect the receiver to your TV via composite video to view incoming video from the receiver's composite inputs. There are no component video inputs or outputs.

Video Select Function: This receiver can display video from a different source on your connected TV during audio playback from Tuner or HEOS music apps.

Video Modes: You can set the video processing method to match the type of video content. Choose from Movie, Game, Auto, or Bypass.

Advanced ISFccc Video Calibration: The AVR-X1400H is certified by the Imaging Science Foundation to deliver top video quality, and the unit also features advanced ISFccc video calibration controls that allow for precision fine-tuning of the connected HDTV, even if it's not an ISF certified set. You can choose from a variety of Picture Modes - Standard, Movie, Vivid, Streaming, ISF Day, ISF Night, Custom, or Off. The Custom mode lets you manually adjust Contrast, Brightness, Saturation, Noise Reduction, and Enhancer (sharpness).

    Network & Tuner Functions

Wired or Wireless Network Connection: The Denon AVR-X1400H receiver is fitted with a RJ-45 Ethernet (LAN) port to connect the receiver to your home network. The unit also offers built-in WiFi (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n; 2.4/5GHz) for a wireless network connection; WPS, WEP, WPA-PSK (TKIP), WPA-PSK (AES), WPA2-PSK (AES) security protection is supported. Either network connection gives the receiver access to HEOS music apps (like Pandora, Spotify, Tidal, etc), TuneIn, your music library on your Apple iOS or Android device, as well as music content on your Windows PC or DLNA music server. Wireless network setup can be done via WPS button, Access Point Scan, Manual Setting, PIN Code, or even through your Apple iOS device (5.0+).

Note: Network setup requires that the receiver be connected to your TV via HDMI for display of the on-screen menu. The receiver's network setup cannot be accessed through its front-panel display.

TuneIn Internet Radio: The Denon AVR-X1400H includes access to more than 100,000 free internet radio streams from all corners of the globe via the built-in TuneIn online music service. Simply select TuneIn from the receiver's on-screen menu using the included remote and browse among the 100,000 stations neatly organized into popular categories and select a station that appeals to you.

Spotify Connect: If you subscribe to Spotify Premium and have the Spotify App on your Apple iOS or Android mobile device, you can stream Spotify to the Denon AV receiver. Spotify is a digital music service that gives you on-demand access to one of the largest music libraries in the world (over 15 million tracks and counting). Spotify makes it easier than ever to discover, manage, and share music with your friends. You can browse music by artist, album, track, or most popular; and create your own music library with customized playlists.

HEOS Music Apps: With built-in HEOS technology and the HEOS app on your Apple iOS 7.0+ or Android OS 4.0 devices, you'll be able to stream a wide variety of online music services, plus the music library of your mobile device through the Denon AV receiver.

    • Online Music Services: Using the HEOS app, you'll be able to stream your favorite online music service like Pandora, iHeart Radio, SiriusXM, TIDAL, Napster, TuneIn, and Amazon Music. The HEOS app on your Apple iOS or Android device will serve as the controller for these apps and provide song/artist information with Album Art. You can create a "Favorite" station list, so you can quickly access your favorite internet radio stations and online music channels.
    • Mobile Device Streaming: Using the HEOS app on your Apple iOS or Android mobile device, you are able to stream your device's music library to the Denon AV receiver. You'll be able to browse your music library by Artist, Album, Genre, and Song; control music playback functions like Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track; and view song/artist info with Album Art from the app on your compatible mobile device. You can even type in an artist name or song title to find music in your mobile device's library.

    Notes:

    • Prior to using the HEOS system, you'll need to setup up your free HEOS account. Your HEOS account remembers all your settings and preferences such as all your music service logins and HEOS playlists. When you'd like to add multiple smartphone or tablet controllers to your system, you only need to sign in to each new device with your HEOS user name and password. Instantly all your music services and HEOS playlists are available in the new controller too.
    • If you prefer, HEOS supports multiple accounts in a single household. This way, each family member can enjoy their own personalized Pandora, Spotify, or other online music account settings and still share all the same speakers in the home.

DLNA 1.5 Certified: The AVR-X1400H is DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) 1.5 and Windows 7/8 compliant for audio and photo networking. This means it's easier for you to access and enjoy digital music and still-images (JPEG) stored on your Windows PC. You can use your PC to play high-bit rate music content through the A/V receiver and view still-images on your connected TV, or use the AVR-X1400H's remote control to browse music & photo files on your hard drive. The receiver also supports ID3-Tag (ver.2) and META tag information; so song title, artist name, and album name can be displayed the unit's front-panel display or on-screen menu. In addition the unit will display Album Art on a connected television. The Denon AVR-X1400H supports the following audio formats, sampling frequencies, and bit rates via its wired network connection.

You can create an 8-character name for each preset station. You can even directly enter a station number using the receiver's on-screen menu and remote control.

Software Updates: Using the receiver's network/internet connection, you can check for and update the latest firmware from the online Denon server. Visit Denon's Support Site for more details.

    Multiroom Playback

Zone 2: Zone 2 allows stereo audio playback of another source connected to the receiver in another room of your home via RCA line-level output or speaker-level output. When using the AVR-X1400H to power speakers in a second room of your home, the main zone is restricted to 5.1-channels. When using the receiver's line output terminals for the second room you need an additional amplifier to power your Zone 2 speakers; the main Zone of the receiver remains 7.1-channel. The volume of Zone 2 can be controlled by the Denon receiver using either configuration or from your add-on amplifier when using the line-output.

    • Compatible Sources:
      • Analog Audio Inputs
      • AM/FM Tuner (cannot select different stations for each zone)
      • USB & Bluetooth
      • Network sources (AirPlay, TuneIn Internet Radio, Spotify Connect, HEOS Music apps, & DLNA); the same network source is played in Zone 1 and Zone 2
    • Incompatible Sources:
      • HDMI & Analog Video
      • HDMI, Optical, & Coaxial digital audio
      • DSD audio files
      • Unfortunately, you cannot select USB, Bluetooth and Network sources exclusively for each Zone. For example, if you select a network source for Zone 2 when a USB source is selected for the Main Zone, the input source in the Main Zone also switches to the same network source as Zone 2.

All Zone Stereo Function: The All Zone Stereo function allows you to enjoy the AV receiver's Main Zone audio source in Zone 2 simultaneously (regardless of input audio signal types - analog, digital, or wireless). During the All Zone Stereo mode, only the "Multi Ch Stereo" and "Stereo" sound modes can be selected. You will have independent volume control in each zone. All Zone Stereo mode is useful when you want to enjoy the same music at the same time in multiple rooms during a get together or party.

Note: All Zone Stereo does not support the receiver's HDMI ARC source.
HEOS Wireless Multiroom Audio: Built-in HEOS technology enables the AVR-X1400H to become part of the HEOS by Denon wireless multi-room audio eco-system, allowing you to stream and control all of your local and online music effortlessly from anywhere in your home with the HEOS App on your compatible Apple iOS or Android mobile device over a wireless WiFi network connection. The HEOS system is a true multi-room audio system that automatically synchronizes audio playback between multiple HEOS devices so that your music (up to 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Res audio) coming from different rooms is perfectly in sync and always sounds amazing. You can play the same audio source (other than your connected TV) in every room or any combination of rooms you choose, including a different song in every room.
    • Systems: The HEOS wireless multi-room sound system by Denon can support up to 32 HEOS speakers, receivers, amplifiers, and/or pre-amplifiers (all sold separately) on a single wireless network (IEEE 802.11 g/n; 2.4/5GHz).
    • Sources: The following sources can be distributed through the HEOS multi-room audio system - Receiver's analog inputs (HDMI & optical/coax digital not supported); built-in AM/FM tuner and TuneIn Internet Radio, HEOS music apps & Spotify Connect; Windows PC & DLNA music servers; Bluetooth & USB audio; plus music libraries stored on your Apple iOS or Android mobile device. HEOS wireless multiroom audio does not support AirPlay.
    • Groups: You can join or group up to eight individual speakers or amplifiers into a group of speakers that function as if they were a single speaker. The HEOS App is also flexible enough where you can create up to 16 Groups (2 speakers/amplifiers per Group).
    • Party Mode: You can easily group 16 rooms together into Party Mode by using a "pinch" gesture.
Note: The Denon AV receiver only supports a single HEOS music stream. If you desire a second HEOS music stream through the receiver's multizone output, you will need to connect the HEOS Link to one of the AV receiver's analog inputs.

    USB/AirPlay/Bluetooth Integration

Front-Panel USB Port: This AV receiver is equipped with a front-panel USB (type-A) port that allows you to enjoy a variety of music files from a USB mass storage class memory device; such as a USB thumbdrive or portable digital audio player. Compatible USB storage devices must be formatted in FAT 16 or FAT32. The unit can recognize up to 500 folders/5,000 files. You can use the receiver's on-screen menu (via HDMI) and remote control to navigate your stored music files on your connected USB memory device. Song/artist information will display on your HDMI-connected TV and the receivers front-panel display. USB portable audio devices that can be charged via USB will be charged when plugged into the AV receiver's USB port (5V/1A); even in standby mode.

AirPlay 2 is an advanced and easy-to-use wireless multiroom audio platform for iTunes, Apple Music, and other compatible Apple iOS apps. With AirPlay 2 you can play any sound from your Apple iOS device (running iOS 11.4 or later) or Mac computer (running OS X 10.13.2) on the Denon receiver and other compatible AirPlay 2 speakers throughout your home. With AirPlay 2, also get to see song/artist information and album art via the receiver's on-screen menu (via HDMI). You can even watch videos and movies from YouTube and Netflix on your compatible Apple iOS device or Mac computer with perfectly synced audio on the Denon receiver.

Built-in Bluetooth: The Denon AVR-X1400H features built-in Bluetooth (version 3.0+EDR) with a 98' wireless range for music streaming (A2DP 1.2) and control (AVRCP 1.5). You'll be able to wirelessly stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, computer, laptop, and more to the Denon AV receiver. You will also be able to control basic playback functions (Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track) using the receiver's remote. Advanced music operation and song/artist/album info will still be done from your Bluetooth source device. Up to eight Bluetooth devices can be paired the AVR-X1400H, but only one device can be connected and used at a time.

Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Denon AV receiver.

    Remote & App Control

AVR Remote App: The new Denon AVR Remote App lets you control the Denon AV receiver using your Apple (iOS 7.0) or Android (OS 4.0+) device. From this free app on your compatible Apple iOS or Android device, you'll be able to control the Denon AV receiver's basic functions; such as power, volume, input, surround modes, and other settings. It seemed the best choice of options for my needs it was a great deal! I am primarily looking for a very high quality audio receiver with the ability to utilize my iphone input since Apple has got us to move all of our music to iTunes. The connectivity for all the rest of my devices is also there. Audio processing I am happy to pay for, but I am not really interested in paying for video processing when all my other devices already do that. Overall this is a great unit for my needs. Thanks! I chose this because it had a B channel I can use for my outdoor speakers when we are swimming in the pool and hanging out in the backyard. It also gives Bluetooth capability to listen to a movie or show after the kids have gone to bed without blowing the house up. It also has 2 optical inputs that are assignable, which I like for flexibility of set up. One last feature I was looking for was the ability to set a remote IR eye so I can hide this receiver in a cabinet out of sight. [ Miles  Oct 09, 2018 ]

Wanted to be able to use blue tooth, wifi, air play but most importantly control music from libraries from one location. Seems like Heos will work. Q
What is meant by "optical/coaxial digital and HDMI audio sources cannot be output to Zone 2"? What sources can be used with zone 2?
    [ Graydon  Jan 07, 2019 ]
    2 answers
    A
In order to output to zone 2, make sure you have your receiver's amp assignment set to zone 2. To check this, access the GUI or menu and select: Speakers/Manual Setup/Amp assign. Make sure you have an analog backup aside from optical or digital coaxial connections. You will need this backup connection because most models cannot convert (DAC) the digital input signal which is needed for zone 2 output. Also make sure zone 2 is selected on your Denon remote, the correct zone 2 source is set, and the zone 2 volume is adjusted.
    [ DON  Jan 12, 2019 ]
    A
Analog sources only on zone 2.

Do you have to have a 4X TV, or will an old HDTV (without audio feedback) work with the Denon AVRX1400H?
    [ Tekguy  Dec 31, 2018 ]
    1 answer
    A
A 4K TV with HDMI ARC? No; these are not requirements but the Denon does support the options should you choose to upgrade. It's compatible with regular HDTVs as well. I hope that helps My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Ryan

Should be able to, I am sing Wharfdale and Polk audio speakers
    [ Murali  Nov 27, 2018 ]
    A
I would say yes. I have Focal speakers hooked up to this unit but I have old Bose speakers hooked up to my old Denon AVR-4310CI which work well.
    [ Walter  Nov 27, 2018 ]
    A
It should. The amp connects via RCA so you would need positive and negative connections at the end of the wires coming from each speaker into the unit to have RCA style plug ends. If they don't already, it may be worth buying the ends. You can get those here too

    Q
Does this model allow remote programming for TV power?
    [ Stinna  Nov 25, 2018 ]

If your TV has Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) and it is turned on, then the Denon AVR will be able to power the TV on and off through the HDMI.

I purchased by Denon 1400H from Crutchfield. How can I watch tv (cable box) and listen to music (Spotify) at the same time?
    [ Warren  Apr 28, 2018 ]
    2 answers
    A
I do this using individual zones all the time. Two speakers in zone 1 and two speakers in zone 2. Send the cable box to zone 1 and HEOS/spotify to zone 2. Easy!
    [ David  Aug 30, 2018 ]

    Q
Can use use 2 wireless HEOS speakers as surround speakers together with wired 3.1 speakers for a 5.1 setup with the X1400H (similar as with the HEOS AVR)?
    [ Dirk  Dec 10, 2017 ]
    1 answer
    A
You cannot, no. You can share sources with other HEOS speakers/players on the same network but you cannot use HEOS speakers as wireless surrounds with the AVR-X1400H.
    [ Ryan  Dec 18, 2017 ]  Staff
    Q
Can I play home theater output to both wired speakers and a HEOS speaker at the same time? We have to turn up the TV loud to hear over cooking. I'd like to put a HEOS in the kitchen, so the theater would play audio through the surround sound in the living room, and through the HEOS at the same time.
    [ Chris  Jul 01, 2017 ]
    2 answers
    A
In order to do this you have to run analog cables (RCA) from your source (blu ray player, cable box, TV audio) to the AVR. DENON has a great explanation of this on their FAQ portion of their website.
    [ David  Aug 30, 2018 ]
    A
I'm afraid the HDMI & optical/coax digital inputs on the Denon AVR-X1400H are not supported sources that can be wirelessly distributed through the HEOS system. For more details or to discuss further, please feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat.
