9.2 channels of fun

Serious power, serious audio and video processing, and serious features are what make the Denon AVR-X6200W an attractive option for serious home theater enthusiasts. With all of that seriousness, you might forget that this is a machine built for fun. What kind of fun can you get into with 9.2 channels at your disposal?

For starters, you can transform movie night at home into a lifelike theater experience with 5-, 7-, or 9-channel surround sound, with the option of using height channels for super-immersive surround sound. You can enjoy new levels of video game realism with a three-dimensional soundstage that perfectly complements the on-screen action. You can also extend music and video playback to multiple rooms — great for parties and also for those times when different family members feel like watching or listening to different content.

Take your home theater above and beyond with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X™

Denon AVR-X6200W In Command

Convenient buttons and connections on the Denon AVR-X6200W's front panel give you quick access to a variety of features and entertainment sources.

A technology that just made its debut in home theater receivers last year, Dolby Atmos creates the most lifelike, captivating surround sound of any audio format we've heard to date. If you're watching a plane take off onscreen, your ears will follow it down the runway along with your eyes, and as it roars directly overhead you might swear your hair is blowing back. If you're ready to explore this new dimension in home theater sound, you'll just need to add a pair of in-ceiling speakers to your five- or seven-channel system, or pick up a pair of Atmos enabled upward-firing speakers to project sound off your ceiling and create the height effects that make an Atmos system so riveting.

Here's a breakdown of all the Dolby Atmos speaker configurations this receiver supports:

  • 7.1.2 - seven conventional surround speakers, one powered subwoofer, and two overhead or height speakers
  • 5.1.4 - five conventional surround speakers, one powered subwoofer, and four overhead or height speakers
  • 5.1.2 - five conventional surround speakers, one powered subwoofer, and two overhead or height speakers
  • 7.1.4 - seven conventional surround speakers, one powered subwoofer, and four overhead or height speakers (requires an external stereo power amp)

You can use one or two subwoofers with any of these configurations.

With a firmware update, this receiver also supports DTS:X surround sound, a new format which uses object-based processing similar to Dolby Atmos and overhead speakers for immersive home theater.

Add more music with easy wireless listening options

The AVR-X6200W gives you plenty of ways to enjoy different tunes through your home speakers. You can quickly access all your old favorites from your own digital music library via your home network, while Bluetooth lets you stream anything you listen to on your phone or tablet. Anytime you feel like expanding your horizons, you'll be able to tune in to countless Internet radio stations from around the globe. And there's also support for Pandora®, Spotify® Connect and SiriusXM Internet radio for easy playback of your favorite music services.

Due to changes implemented by Pandora, this receiver is temporarily unable to connect to the Pandora service. A firmware update to resolve this issue will be released on 11/14/2016.

Get music and video in multiple rooms

With all of the listening choices you get with the AVR-X6200W, it only makes sense to spread your music beyond the boundaries of your living room. You can play music from three different sources in up to three rooms. The receiver's powerful processing gives you stereo playback of digital or analog sources across three different zones. A dedicated Zone 2 HDMI output lets you watch video from two separate sources in your living room and a second room. A third HDMI output lets you send the same video content from your main zone to a TV in a different room or a projector in the same room.

Stress-free setup

Denon has made sure you won't spend hours buried in a manual trying to figure out how to set up the AVR-X6200W. With the Setup Assistant, connecting your equipment and optimizing system settings is a matter of following easy on-screen instructions that take you step-by-step through the entire process with clear illustrations. The Audyssey calibration system uses a microphone to analyze your room's acoustics, so your speakers' settings will be configured for the best possible sound in their environment.

Useful home automation features

Denon's IN-Command series of receivers offers heightened control capabilities and compatibility with custom integration options. The AVR-X6200W's rear-panel IR remote control input makes it compatible with external remotes and control systems. It can also be set up and controlled by a networked computer, and is certified for use with Crestron and Control4 home automation equipment.

    Dennon quality is very poor

Guest from Clarendon Hills, IL on 12/4/2017

Dennon does not support their products. Their service is terrible. I've had nothing but problems from the minute I unpacked the receiver. The quality is poor and the service is even worse.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Took a few weeks to hook it up correctly. I spent about a hour and a half with Denon Tech Support getting the Heos working correctly (I also bought a Heos Link and Heos 5 speaker). Now everything is dialed in with the exception of the left height speaker won't get power to it. I have to call Tech Support again to figure out if it's settings or a hardware problem. In the last 25 years I had (still have some) receivers from Kenwood, JVC, several Pioneers, several Yamaha's and a Pioneer Elite that I bought last January. The Denon by far is the best sounding and easiest to use. If I could only get the left height speaker working it would be 5 stars.

great product!! Easy to set up. They walk you through everything quickly. I have it on a 5.1 system and have zone 2 on the deck and zone 3 in another room. I watch tv in the great room and music on the deck and the other room. Does everything.

Pros: Lots of power versatile ease of set up

Cons: some problem connecting directly to Pandora, but expecting firmware update this month

    AWESOME System

    Great Sound

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sound and plenty of power. The Audessey setup needed to be changed as set odd crossover points for all speakers.

Pros: Tons of power and great warm sound

Cons: Audessey set up not accurate for crossover.

Very full featured AVR built with quality componets

Pat from Rochester, NY on 11/6/2016

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very simple review... GREAT! Extremely happy with this purchase. I spent a significant period of time looking at reviews of AVRs and this had everything I was interested in, and a bit more, for listening to 60+% music and the rest TV/Movies. I wished it had a simple separate control for the bass/treble level for the headphone out though, my old Sony headphones are simply too bright and my old Yamaha AVR had the means to flatten that. Many reviews say this Denon is a bit warm. Some people like it that way but it should be stated that the highs are set to intentionally roll-off for movie viewing with the "Reference" curve default set by the Audyssey calibration. If you listen more to music try manually setting it to the "Flat" curve in the Audyssey menu after going through the calibration to bring back the highs and see which way you prefer it. As far as the headphone issue it's probably time I upgrade anyway to a better quality set to replace my over 20 year old set.

Pros: Japanese build. Pretty future proof. Audyssey beats the heck out me having to use my old frequency analyzer for setting things up for my rather poorly dimensioned listening room. Fits where my old Yamaha does and some AVRs, like it's Marantz nearest equivalent, are taller and wouldn't fit in my entertainment center. Very easy to setup with no issues encountered. Easy to use and well designed remote control. Replaced my Logitech Squeezebox for playing MP3s from PC and internet radio.

Cons: No headphone level adjustment as far as I can tell at the moment.

AWESOME Home Theater Receiver! A Must Buy!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Enjoying the rich, detailed warmth of sound only Denon can provide and man they do it exceptionally well. I have been a 20 year fan of Denon and have seen the consistency in quality the Denon company puts into their products. Watching the evolution from 20years ago to know only has strengthened my commitment to the Denon line of products for future purchases. Utilizing Auto 3-D and Audessey to get the most out of 9.2 system and WOW! 4K is amazing too.

Pros: Easy set-up, setup interface makes sense and is very easy to utilize even for the novice.

    Cons: None

A very convertible unit, enjoying a 9.2 setup now. Sound is amazing, had a few setup issue's, and trying to figure out a constant request for one of the updates I'm not needing now, other than that I look forward to this unit serving me for years to come.

Len from Springfield, VA on 10/18/2016

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Awesome machine! It does everything as advertised. I have owned two different Harmon Kardon's before this and there is no comparison.... Denon takes it on every level (including technical support). I'm very happy about this purchase.

Pros: Great sound, excellent input / output features, nice remote and web control interface.

Cons: Only thing that was counter intuitive was that when defining the source for the 2nd or 3rd zone, USB, Internet Radio, and blue tooth were treated as on. You cannot set each zone to hear a different source among those three. No other surprises....

    Even Better Sound Than Before

Ray from Cody, WY on 10/15/2016

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is probably my eighth or ninth Denon and, by far, the best unit I have ever owned. My previous Denon was an AVR-43111CI, a 9 channel receiver. I was very happy with it, but decided I wanted the new DTS-X and ATMOS decoders. Wow! I have a dedicated home theater with 106" screen, Panasonic projector and 7.1.2 sound system. I am very happy!

Pros: SOUND Channel separation is fantastic Typical Denon quality

    Cons: NONE

I must say I was very impressed with shipping and delivery with Crutchfield. The Denon 6200w lives up to what I full expected. I now have had time to play with settings and sure enough the sound is simply amazing!

Pros: Great price, easy to setup and configure!

Cons: None that i've come across just yet.

Can't be beat at this price

Jon from Katonah, NY on 10/2/2016

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Price was awesome, replaced my older Denon which I bought on closeout as well. Major differences are seems to be much more user friendly, remote I understood immediately and now wifi. Came home tonight and loaded some auto updates. Nice and quick The sound is super clean and quiet I am really staring to love this piece and glad for the price.

Pros: Simple , easy with great clear sound , great remote.

Cons: I'm a Denon guy so I have yet to find a con.

    David from Cali on 7/9/2016

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Denon excellence has always prevailed for me in choosing while sampling other brands as well. The Denon build is by far the best at producing audiophile sound, wattage output, etc. at a reasonable price. Soundstage is awesome especially after utilizing the Audessey system.

Pros: Excellent AVR for those who want quality and awesome experience!

    Cons: Absolutely zero!

    Great for a Non-Audiophile

Curt from St. Michaels, MD on 4/9/2016

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Denon AVR-6200W is a terrific A V Receiver for the owner who appreciates very high quality sound reproduction but does not have a desire to get a PhD in audio visual science. The set-up is easy, intuitive and the remote is quite utilitarian. It is always a balancing act to determine what the right combination of power output, speaker handling capability as well as the owner's ability to discern the quality of resultant sound but so far I am very pleased with my system.

Pros: Great sound reproduction, intuitive on-screen notifications and guidance. Ease of set-up.

    Cons: Not inexpensive.

Easy to use and setup poor sound quality

James from sioux falls, SD on 3/6/2016

Tried and failed 3 times to use audyssey sound calibration. unfortunately I did not have much better luck using sound calibration meter. I say the setup failed because the resulting sound quality was too awful to believe. Reference was dull, hazy and had horrible bass bloat. Flat was clear (but sterile) , thin (so thin it was hard to recognize instruments) and edgey. Shutting the whole thing off just using bass and treble adjustments was much better but still not satisfying especially with music which sounded very clear but also sterile i.e. washed out of correct timbre and texture of the instruments. My old Yamaha rxz11 makes it sound like a toy

Pros: Really easy to use and make adjustments

Cons: sound quality, audyssey not ready for prime time.

Denon-you get what you pay for!

    NEL from Colorado on 1/16/2016

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this unit to replace a Denon AVR-3313CIE3 which lacked Dolby Altmos and HDMI 2.2 capability as well as 4K support. I am using this unit to do all source switching to a Sony VPL-VX350ES 4K projector. Sources are Directv, Sony 4K server and Oppo 103. This unit is simply outstanding. Set up was easy using the automated setup and Audyssey. The unit is driving a 5-2-4 set up, and I have watched numerous Dolby Altmos Blu-rays, and most notably Terminator Genisys in 3D and Mad Max Fury Road. Sound files is outstanding and the video fidelity is outstanding in bot 2D and 3D. The remote has been improved, and when sound source is set to auto, the movie, music and game buttons let you chose whatever decoding method you have available without having to go to main menu. I was going to wait until this unit was available at a discount as I did with my previous Denon, but it is really too good to wait. Well worth the money and outstanding in all regards.

Pros: Sound, source handling ease of setup.

Cons: Cost, but it is really worth the money.

    This beast has it all

DavidC from Richmond, VA on 12/24/2015

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It took me a month to find a receiver that didn't have any limitations of some kind (e.g., no 4K, no HD radio, no 3D, etc.). This Denon delivers everything. At least everything circa late 2015, lol. The set-up was easy (once I settled on which of the gazillion ways to hook it up best suited my room). It's my first Denon and I'm very impressed and totally satisfied. The sales people at Crutchfield were very helpful, and my "open box" discount really paid off ... everything was in the box and in pristine condition.

Pros: Every option imaginable. Transparent set-up. Built like a fine instrument.

    Cons: None

    excellent receiver: 5 stars

    SteveS from Colorado on 12/4/2015

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The receiver functions as advertised, as far as I can tell after testing every option I can think of. It essentially runs itself, switching to whatever input source is active, even powered itself on from standby and connected via Bluetooth when I switched on a previously-paired computer. I wondered beforehand if I could figure out the ARC connection with my Sony *x850c TV. It was so easy; I did nothing to the TV's settings and set the HDMI control to "on" in the receiver.

Pros: The owner's manual is well written and comprehensive.

    Cons: None apparent to me.

Discrete Amplification: The Denon AVR-X6200W is built to last and delivers audiophile-type sound thanks to its monolithic amplifier construction. The Denon AVR-X6200W AV receiver features a powerful Class AB power amplifier section equipped with discrete custom-made high current power transistors (D.H.C.T) for high current capability. This discrete, monolithic amplifier design delivers optimum realism and stunning dynamic range. By using high current, high power discrete power devices and a monolithic amplifier layout, the Denon AV receiver is able to easily drive high quality speakers. The AV receiver's 9-channel Class AB amplifier is rated at 140-watts (into 8-ohms, at 20-20kHz, with 0.05% THD, driving 2 channels).

Amplifier Assignment: The AVR-X6200W's nine discrete amplifier channels can be configured to accommodate your type of home theater setup.

    • 11.1Ch: Assigns all nine internal amplifiers to the receiver's main zone and also requires a 2ch external amplifier for 11.1ch playback. The receiver's internal amplifiers can be assigned to power the Front, Center, Surround, and Surround Back speaker, with the option to power either the Front Height or Front Wide speakers. You will then use the receiver's preouts to power Front or Wide speakers with an external amplifier.
    • 9.1Ch: Assigns all power amplifiers within the receiver for the Main Zone. The receiver's internal amplifiers can be assigned to power the Front, Center, Surround, and Surround Back speaker, with the option to power either the Front Height or Front Wide speakers.

By fully immersing the listener in a cocoon of life-like sound, Auro-3D creates the sensation of actually "being there". Thanks to a unique "Height" channel configuration, recorded acoustic reflections are reproduced by these speakers and are heard naturally due to the fact that sounds originate from around as well as above the listener. Once upgraded with the AURO-Codec Decoder ($199.00 cost), the AVR-X6200W is capable of decoding the original Auro-3D mix and playing back an Auro 9.1 channel configuration.

Audyssey Platinum: AVR-X6200W features the Audyssey Platinum suite of powerful DSP features; including MultEQ XT32, Sub EQ HT/LFC, Dynamic Volume, Dynamic EQ, and Audyssey DSX.

    • MultEQ XT32: Via the supplied measuring microphone, Audyssey MultEQ XT32 measures all the speakers in your home theater during setup, including the subwoofer, and then generates multiple high precision DSP room acoustic correction filters, which together provide smoothest and most natural tonal balance, regardless of the brand or model of the various speakers. MultEQ XT32 provides greater filter precision for the main and surround speakers, with 8x the resolution compared to the base MultEQ system, along with the ability to measure at up to 32 locations in the room. MultEQ XT32 compensates for both time and frequency characteristics of the listening area based on "Audyssey Setup" measurement results. Selection is done from three types of compensation curves - Reference (default and recommended, L/R Bypass, Flat, and Off).
    • Audyssey Sub EQ HT + LFC: Audyssey Sub EQ HT provides individual tailoring for each subwoofer in a dual subwoofer setup, delivering the optimum combination of highest deep bass output and lowest distortion. Audyssey LFC processing analyses and processes bass content on a continuous basis and custom tailors the sound via advanced psychoacoustic algorithms to deliver dynamic bass response within the listening room without annoying family members or neighbors in adjacent rooms.
    • Dynamic Volume: Audyssey Dynamic Volume features advanced psycho-acoustic processing to deliver clear dialog and wide range sound at reduced volume levels so that you can enjoy theater-level clarity at whatever listening level you choose.
    • Dynamic EQ: Audyssey Dynamic EQ also features advanced DSP processing to deliver full range wide-band response, even at reduced volume levels. Dynamic EQ Reference Level Offset provides three offsets from the film level reference (5 dB, 10 dB, and 15 dB) that can be selected when the mix level of the content is not within the standard.
    • Audyssey Dynamic Surround Expansion (DSX): Audyssey DSX adds front effect speakers to improve spatial sound reproduction. Starting with a 5.1 channel system, DSX adds front Wide and/or front Height channels for better sound staging (although both wide and height speakers can be added, only one pair is used at a time). DSX also applies Surround Envelopment Processing to enhance the blend between the front and surround channels.

Denon Original Listening Modes: Denon's Original Listening Modes, combined with Dolby Digital/DTS/Dolby Pro Logic processing, produce more realistic, powerful sound effects for your movie and music sound tracks based on the type of content and your home theater setup. You can choose from the following:

    • Rock Arena: For rock and popular music sources, this mode surrounds you with reflected sound of the kind you would hear at a live concert.
    • Jazz Club: This mode recreates the atmosphere of a live house where the ceiling is low and you are enveloped with rich doses of reflected sound.
    • Matrix: With this mode, you can add rich reflected sound to 2-channel stereo music sources where reflected sound is normally not audible.
    • Video Game: This mode is suited for achieving surround sound with video games..
    • Mono Movie: This mode is used when you listen to recorded monaural sound sources such as AM radio broadcasts or news programs from the center speaker.
    • Virtual: Enjoy surround effects using only the front speakers or set of headphones.
    • Multichannel Stereo: Left and right stereo channels are distributed to all the speakers so that stereo sound can be heard from all directions at any listening position.
Note: This unit automatically generates a list of all the playable sound modes based on the input audio format and the current speaker setup configuration and displays the list on the screen. Therefore, you can select a correct surround playback mode even if you are not familiar with sound mode selection.

Direct Listening Modes: The Denon AVR-X6200W offers two Direct Listening Modes which bypass the receiver's tone & DSP processing for higher sound quality performance. Direct Mode provides playback of 2ch or Multichannel audio in its original form, without any surround or tone processing. Pure Direct Mode goes a step further by turning off the receiver's display and analog video circuitry to minimize the possibility of any noised being added to the audio signal.

Surround Parameters: You can adjust the following surround mode parameters:

    • Dolby Pro Logic II Music Settings: While listening in the Dolby Pro Logic II Music format, there are three further enhancements you can adjust - Panorama (broadens the front stereo image to the surround speakers to provide a wraparound effect, especially effective when there is limited output from the surround channels), Dimension (allows you to move the sound field forward or backward), and Center Width (allows you to adjust the width of the center channel).
    • Center Image: In the Neo:6 Music mode, the Center Image feature adjusts the output of the left and right channels relative to the center channel, allowing you to make the center channel more or less dominant as needed. This improves the image of the center channel, especially when the listener is off-center. Adjustment varies from 5 (nothing subtracted from the L/R channels) to 0 (L/R channel output is cut in half).
    • Denon Original Surround Mode Settings: While listening in one of the Denon Original Surround Modes, there are three further enhancements you can adjust - Room Size (sets the size of your desired acoustic environment; Small/Medium/Large), Effect Level (adjusts the effect signal level from 1-15), and Delay Time (adjusts the delay time from 0-400ms to control the sound stage size).
    • Audyssey DSX Settings: While listening in the Audyssey DSX audio format, there are two further enhancements you can adjust; Stage Height (adjust sound stage height +/-10 when using front height speakers) and Stage Width (adjust sound stage width when using front wide speakers)

Audio Enhancements: The Denon AVR-X6200W receiver provides various audio enhancements to deliver a high-quality listening experience every time.

    • CINEMA EQ (Cinema Equalizer): The Cinema EQ function gently decreases the level of the extreme high frequencies, compensating for overly-bright sounding motion picture soundtracks. Select this function if the sound from the front speakers is too bright. This function only works in the Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Pro Logic (including PL II, PL IIx, PL IIz), and DTS Neo:6 modes.
    • Restorer: Compressed audio formats such as MP3, WMA (Windows Media Audio), and MPEG-4 AAC reduce the amount of data by eliminating signal components that are hard for the human ear to hear. The Restorer function generates the signals eliminated upon compression, restoring the sound to conditions near those of the original sound before compression. It also corrects the sense of volume of the bass to obtain richer sound with compressed audio signals.
    • Dynamic Range Compression (DRC): Motion picture soundtracks have tremendous dynamic range (the contrast between very soft and very loud sounds). For listening late at night, or whenever the maximum sound level is lower than usual, Compressing the dynamic range allows you to hear all of the sounds in the soundtrack with reduced dynamic range. DRC works when playing program sources recorded in Dolby Digital or DTS.

Level Adjustments: The AVR-X6200W provides the following level adjustments.

    • Source Level: This function adjusts the playback level of the currently selected input source's audio input. Use this feature if there are differences in the input volume levels between different sources. You can correct the playback level of the audio input from -12 to +12dB.
    • Dialogue Level: You can adjust the output level (+/-12dB) to clarify the dialogue output from the center channel.
    • Subwoofer Level: You can set the receiver's subwoofer output level (+/-12dB) independent from the other speaker levels and system's main volume.

Volume Settings: The AVR-X6200W offers the following volume settings.

    • Volume Scale: You can choose to display an Absolute volume scale (0-98) or Relative volume scale (-79.5 to 18dB).
    • Volume Limit: You can set a maximum volume level of 0, -10, or -20 dB to limit the receiver's total volume output.
    • Power On Level: You can define the volume setting that is active when the power is turned on (0, 1-98, -79 to +18dB, or Last)
    • Mute Level: You can set the amount of attenuation for the audio muting circuit; -40dB or -20dB below current volume, or full mute (sound turned off entirely).

    Multiroom Playback

HDMI Zone 2: The AVR-X6200W incorporates multi-zone HDMI audio/video distribution for Zone 2 with the inclusion of its HDMI matrix switching functionality. The receiver can send two different HDMI video feeds to two displays at the same time directly from the receiver. HDMI Zone 2 also supports 2ch PCM audio from the HDMI input source selected. The HDMI Zone 2 function is only compatible with the HDMI 1-7 input connectors. It is not compatible with the HDMI 8 input connector. The volume of HDMI Zone 2 will be controlled by your TV or additional receiver in Zone 2.

    • Compatible Sources: Compatible HDMI Zone 2 sources include the receiver's HDMI 1-7 inputs.
    • Incompatible Sources: The receiver's HDMI 8 input cannot be output to Zone 2. Analog audio/video signals cannot be sent to HDMI Zone 2. USB, Bluetooth, iPod/iPhone, AirPlay, Internet Radio, and DLNA sources cannot be output to HDMI Zone 2.

Audio/Video Zone 2: Zone 2 allows stereo audio/video playback of another A/V source connected to the receiver in another room of your home via stereo pre-out or speaker terminal output connections, as well as composite or component video. To enjoy a video source in Zone 2, you must connect the same video connection to your second display monitor as connected to your receiver for that particular source (there is no video-conversion for Zone 2). Zone 2 features either a pre-outs or speaker outputs, so you can use this receiver or a separate amp to power speakers in another room. When using the AVR-X6200W to power speakers in a second room of your home, the main zone is restricted to 5.1-channel. When using the receiver's pre-outs for the second room you need an additional amplifier in that room to power those speakers; the main Zone of the receiver remains 7.1-channel. The volume of Zone 2 can be controlled by the Denon receiver using either configuration or from your add-on amplifier when using the line-output.

    • Compatible Sources: Compatible Zone 2 sources include Analog audio/video inputs, HDMI audio (2ch PCM), Optical/Coaxial digital inputs (2ch PCM), AM/FM Tuner (cannot select different stations for each zone), USB (including iPod/iPhone), AirPlay, Bluetooth, Internet Radio (different network sources cannot be played back in multiple zones at the same time), DLNA/Media Server contents.
    • Incompatible Sources: DSD audio cannot be sent to Zone 2. Unfortunately, you cannot select USB and Network sources exclusively for each Zone. For example, if you select a network source for Zone 2 when a USB source is selected for the Main Zone, the input source in the Main Zone also switches to the same network source as Zone 2 (this scenario also includes Bluetooth).

Audio Only Zone 3: Zone 3 allows you to play a different stereo audio source connected to the receiver in a third room of your house. Zone 3 features either a pre-outs or speaker outputs so you can use this amp or a separate amp to power speakers in another room. When using the AVR-X6200W  to power speakers in a second and third room of your home, the second and third zones are restricted to mono operation and the main zone is limited to 5.1 channels. When using the receiver's pre-outs for the 3rd Zone, you need an additional amplifier in that room to power those speakers; the main Zone of the receiver remains 7.1-channel. The volume of Zone 3 can be controlled by the Denon receiver using either configuration or from your add-on amplifier when using the line-output.

    • Compatible Sources: Analog audio inputs, Optical/Coaxial digital inputs (2ch PCM), AM/FM Tuner (cannot select different stations for each zone), USB (including iPod/iPhone), AirPlay, Bluetooth, Internet Radio (different network sources cannot be played back in multiple zones at the same time), DLNA/Media Server contents.
    • Incompatible Sources: Analog video, HDMI audio/video, and DSD audio cannot be sent to Zone 3. Unfortunately, you cannot select USB and Network sources exclusively for each Zone. For example, if you select a network source for Zone 3 when a USB source is selected for the Main Zone, the input source in the Main Zone also switches to the same network source as Zone 3 (this scenario also includes Bluetooth).

All Zone Stereo Function: The All Zone Stereo function allows you to enjoy the AV receiver's Main Zone audio source in Zone 2 simultaneously (regardless of input audio signal types; analog or digital). During the All Zone Stereo mode, only the "Multi Ch Stereo" and "Stereo" sound modes can be selected. You will have independent volume control in each zone. All Zone Stereo mode is useful when you want to enjoy the same music at the same time in multiple rooms during a get together or party.

HEOS Multiroom Compatible: Thanks to the AV receiver's network and IP control capability, it can be integrated into Denon's HEOS whole home audio system via the HEOS Link (sold separately) and the HEOS app for Apple iOS (5.0+) & Android OS (2.3+). The HEOS Link connects to the AV receiver's Zone 2 preouts and a set of stereo RCA inputs or optical digital input on the receiver. Now, you can send the receiver's Zone 2 audio to other HEOS speakers in different rooms of your home, as well as play back audio from other HEOS devices through the AV receiver. From the app on your mobile device, you'll be able to control the Denon receiver along with other Denon HEOS gear and listen to music throughout your home. The HEOS wireless multi-room sound system by Denon can support up to 32 HEOS products (sold separately) on a single wireless network.
    • Music: You can select which source you want to listen to from the app. Choose from the receiver's Zone 2 audio, the Link's built-in online music services (like TuneIn, Pandora, Spotify Connect, iHeart Radio, SiriusXM, Rhapsody, or TIDAL, ), the music library on your mobile device), and more.
    • Rooms: From the app on your Apple iOS or Android device, you can select which rooms you want playing. You can play the same music in multiple rooms by grouping rooms together, or you can listen to a different source in each room.
    • Groups: You can join or group up to eight individual HEOS devices into a group that function as if they were a single speaker. The HEOS App is also flexible enough where you can create up to 16 Groups (2 HEOS products per Group).
    • Party Mode: You can easily group eight rooms together into Party Mode by using a "pinch" gesture.
Note: The Denon AV receiver only allows one IP connection for control. If the receiver is already being controlled by a 3rd party control system via IP, then the HEOS Link will not be able to control it.

    Convenience Features

OSD w/ Setup Assistant (via HDMI): With Denon's on-screen menu and setup assistant you can connect, configure, and use your home theater system with ease. The OSD and setup assistant features clear on-screen graphics and text that optimizes critical system settings for your particular home theater setup. The on-screen menu and setup assistant can be output to your TV via HDMI only. If you connect the receiver to your television via only composite video, you will need to use the AV receiver's front-panel display for menu and source adjustments.

Note: Initial setup requires that the receiver be connected to your TV via HDMI for display of the on-screen menu. Many of the receiver's setup functions can only be found via the on-screen menu and not the front-panel display.

Smart Menu: Via the HDMI CEC (consumer electronics control) functionality in your TV, you may be able to control the Denon receiver with the TV's remote control. With "HDMI control" set to ON in your receiver, you can set "Smart Menu" to ON to start controlling the Denon AV receiver with your  TV's remote. The Smart Menu home screen provides you quick access to source and surround mode selections, the receiver's setup menu, and 4 Quick Selects.

Quick Select: On the AVR-X6200W's front-panel, you'll find four Quick Select buttons that let you quickly choose from the most popular input sources; the ergonomically designed remote also includes Quick Select function buttons. With Quick Select, the AVR-X6200W remembers not only your preferred inputs but also your preferred audio settings, so you can enjoy precisely tailored sound with each one.

Gapless Playback & Text Search: Many live and classical albums have no gaps in the music. Gapless playback ensures that there are no pauses between audio files. This provides playback with no interruptions, the way it was meant to be heard. Compatible with WAV and FLAC music files via USB or DLNA. You can also search Internet Radio, USB, and DLNA content using keyword searches from the AV receiver's on-screen menu and remote control.

Input Name & Delete: You can change the display name (up to 8 characters) of a selected input source. If an input isn't being used, you can delete it from the display so you don't have to scroll past it when you change sources.

Slide Shows/Picture View: You can play back still image (JPEG) files stored on a USB memory device or media server and pictures on Flickr website as a slide show. The display time can also be set. You can also play back music and a favorite picture at the same time via USB, Internet Radio, or Media Server.

Timers: The Denon AV receiver features a programmable Sleep Timer and Auto Standby function.

    • Sleep Timer: This function allows you to automatically set the power to standby after a predetermined amount of time has passed; set the sleep timer up to 120 minutes in 10 minute increments.
    • Auto Standby: The unit enters standby mode automatically when no commands are sent to the unit for the set time (15/30/60 minutes). Before it enters the standby mode, "Auto Standby" is displayed on the front-panel display of this unit and the on-screen menu.

ECO Mode: This receiver is equipped with an ECO Mode function that allows you to enjoy music and movies while reducing the power consumption during use, Eco mode adjusts the maximum power available according to the volume level selected to reduce power consumption.

Personal Memory Plus: For each input, the receiver automatically memorizes the settings for input mode, surround mode, HDMI output mode, audio delay, etc. When the input source is switched, the settings last used for that source are automatically recalled. The surround parameters, tone control settings, and playback levels for the different output channels are memorized for each surround mode.

Protection Circuit: This is a function to prevent damage to components within the power supply when an abnormality such as an overload, excess voltage, or over-heating occurs. In this unit, the power indicator blinks and the unit enters standby mode when an abnormality occurs.

    Bluetooth + Remote Control

Built-in Bluetooth: The Denon AVR-X6200W features built-in Bluetooth (version 2.1+EDR) with support for wireless music streaming (A2DP 1.2) and control (AVRCP 1.5). You'll be able to wirelessly connect to Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphones/tablets, Windows Phone/PC, Mac computers/laptops and other Bluetooth-enabled devices. Up to eight Bluetooth devices can be remembered by the AVR-X6200W, so family members as well as friends can enjoy their favorite tracks (only one device can be used at a time).

    • Music Streaming: You'll be able to wirelessly stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone/tablet, computer/laptop and more to the Denon receiver. In addition to support for the standard SBC Bluetooth audio codec, the AVR-X6200W offers support of AAC. By supporting AAC, the Denon receiver offers better audio performance of the music streamed from your Apple iPod/iPhone/Pad.
    • Music Control: You will also be able to control basic playback functions (Play/Pause, FF/RW, Skip) using the receiver's remote control. Advanced music operation will still need to be handled from your Bluetooth-enable device.
    • Song/Artist Info: Song/Artist information will displayed on the receiver's front-panel LCD or your HDMI-connected TV.
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Denon AV receiver.

Denon Remote App: The Denon Remote App lets you control the Denon Network AV receiver using your Apple iOS or Android device. Simply download the free Denon Remote App from the Apple App Store for the iPod touch/iPhone/iPad (iOS 4.3+), or download the free Denon Remote App from Google Play for your compatible Android device (2.3+). This free Remote App lets you control the Denon AV receiver's basic functions (power, volume, input, surround modes) from your Apple iOS or Android device for all zones of the receiver. You can even navigate the AV receiver's network and Internet content from your compatible Apple iOS or Android device. For added convenience, there are eight customizable home screen short cut buttons that allow you to tailor the look and function of the Denon Remote App to suit your needs.

Multibrand Remote Control + HDMI-CEC: The AVR-X6200W comes with an IR wireless remote control that can operate the receiver as well as other remote control capable components. It is pre-programmed with control signals for other brand products; including Blu-ray/DVD players, TVs, satellite/cable boxes, and SACD/CD players. The AVR-X6200W's can also be used to control select external audio/video components connected via HDMI which support HDMI control. When you make an HDMI connection with a TV or player compatible with the AVR-X6200W's HDMI control function, you can perform the operations from the AVR-X6200W's remote control; Power off, Switching of audio output devices, Switching of audio input devices, Volume adjustment, and Playback functions.

Custom Integration: The AVR-X6200W is part of Denon's IN-Command series line-up of receiver, which is Denon's certification to custom installers that the receiver has advanced connectivity and control features often required for custom home integration and theater applications using premium control systems. These features include a RS232C jack for use with whole house control systems, remote in/out IR command control, and a 12V trigger output.

    • RS-232C Port: Port for connection to external whole-house control systems, from companies such as AMX, Crestron, etc.

    Why did you buy this?

I am a Denon loyal owner and like there products needed to upgrade and couldn't pass up this deal. [ Frances  Oct 27, 2016 ]
I purchased Denon AVR-X6200W to upgrade to new wireless features, HD Radio, built in Japan, plus awesome Crutchfield price!!! Thanks! [ Alfred J.  Oct 24, 2016 ]
I've been researching replacing my 10 old 7.2 Yamaha AVR on and off for a few years now and this Denon had more than everything I was interested in for a current model AVR and still fit in the height of my AV center. I've been looking for a price drop for close to half a year and the $900 savings was just too good to pass up and I was worrying about the supply running out before Christmas since I believe this is probably on close-out now for a newer model replacement with integrated HEOS. [ Patrick  Oct 21, 2016 ]
    replace avr3313c [ Michael  Oct 21, 2016 ]
Great price for the power. [ William  Oct 20, 2016 ]

size, 3 zones, SUPPORT to help setup, NO TAX, price [ Harrison  Oct 14, 2016 ]
Bought a $1300 Onkyo receiver that didn't work when it came out of the box, they wouldn't warranty it and the authorized repair shop couldn't fix it. Never buy anything but Denon again!! And we purchased that from help so we lost the full amount of our purchase. Crutchfield is honest and stands by their products!! [ Wendy  Oct 08, 2016 ]
Advisor Brooke recommended this model. Needed 4K pass through and Dolby Atmos. Price was a great deal [ GUNTER  Oct 05, 2016 ]
9 true channels for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, HDCP complaint, and HDR ready, Its a Denon! [ bbq  Sep 29, 2016 ]
I decided to purchase the x6200w due to reviews and price point. Crutchfield had a pretty good savings on the Denon. [ michael  Sep 26, 2016 ]
Dolby Atmos , DTX and Auro 3d. 9.1 setup but would have preferred the 11.2 setup but still too expensive. Very happy with the special purchase price. Even though an older model, the 140W per channel were a plus. [ Willard  Sep 22, 2016 ]
I did a lot of research and found that this receiver has the features I need for a 9.2 receiver with Dolby Atmos. [ L  Aug 10, 2016 ]

Already owned a previous generation of Denon. Know they are good. May return this for the upgrade to AVR-X7200. Thought I'd take a look at this one first. [ padre  May 13, 2016 ]
I have purchased a 4 other Denons previously and like their product. [ John  Feb 03, 2016 ]

Audio as well as video are passed through. [ Ronald  Oct 24, 2016 ]
I'm not using that output, but it seems that it would be. I had luck calling Denon tech support with a similar question on a different receiver. It didn't take long to get the answer and they were very responsive.. [ Leonard  Oct 24, 2016 ]
As far as I know, the Bluetooth feature on the Denon AVR-X6200W, and most A/V receivers, receives audio from other Bluetooth devices, like smartphones and tablets, to play on your high fidelity speakers, but is not enabled to send audio to another Bluetooth host device such as headphones. Your best option would be wireless RF headphones, if you don't want a cord. [ Alfred J.  Oct 21, 2016 ]
No. The receiver's Bluetooth function is to receive the signal from another source such as an iPad or smartphone. [ Steve  Oct 21, 2016 ]
I don't think so. It is the other way around. You can use Bluetooth to play music from your phone to the receiver. [ Dustin  Oct 21, 2016 ]
    Sorry, I never tried. [ Jeffrey  Oct 21, 2016 ]
The Denon AVR-X6200W supports SiriusXM Internet Radio which lets you listen to over 120 channels of SiriusXM programming that streams through the receiver's connection to your home network. It's possible you can use your existing SiriusXM subscription to access SiriusXM Internet Radio, but you'd want to check with SiriusXM's Support to verify what kind of subscription you currently have--you can reach their support at 888-601-6296. My Bio: [ Larry  Jan 28, 2016 ]  Staff
Power both zones? No. You can bi-amp the front speakers and power zone 2, but only get a pre-amp output to zone 3. That's with a 5.1 set-up. [ DAVID A  Dec 30, 2015 ]
Searching the manual (online in various places) for "bi-amp", on page 244 there is an example a setting for bi-amping 5.1 in the Main Zone and having 2 channels for Zone 2. It looks like bi-amping does not leave enough channels for Main Zone and both Zones 2 and 3. [ Steve  Dec 29, 2015 ]
I am still waiting for the X6200W to be delivered. [ ROBESON  Dec 29, 2015 ]
