About the Denon DCD-1600NE
Top-notch digital sound
Top-notch digital sound
When I listen to a compact disc, I expect crystal-clear sound, and the Denon DCD-1600NE is the type of player that can deliver it. It features state-of-the-art circuitry that reveals fine detail in music discs, inside an efficient, solid, vibration-resistant chassis.
The player's high-performance 32-bit/192kHz digital-to-analog converter — working with Denon's AL32 Processing Plus digital filter — helps make your music sound smooth and accurate.
Attention to detail
Denon uses high-quality components to ensure pristine quality when you play a Super Audio CD. Digital and analog power supplies are kept separate to eliminate any loss of sound quality caused by interference and noise between the two.
The player's drive mechanism features a high-precision Suppress Vibration Hybrid loader that eliminates internal and external resonance for greater stability and accuracy. A DAC master clock keeps timing errors from marring playback. If you want all extra digital processing out of the way, use Pure Direct mode.
The Denon DCD-1600NE offers an optical output and a digital coaxial output. A stereo RCA line output lets you take advantage of the player's high-quality built-in DAC.

Disc Compatibility: The Denon DCD-1600NE SACD Player supports playback of CD Audio and Super Audio CD discs. It also supports playback of a wide variety of compressed and high resolution audio files recorded onto CD-R/-RW, DVD-R/-RW. and DVD+R/+RW. Music files must be formatted in ISO9660. The player can recognize up to 1,000 folders and 2,000 files per folder on one disc. The unit supports 5" (12cm) and 3" (8cm) discs.
|Resolution||Compatible Audio Formats||Sampling Frequencies||Bits||Extension|

Note: When there are multiple folders containing music files, the playback order of folders is automatically set when this unit reads the media. The files in each folder are played back in the order in which the files were recorded on the media, from the oldest date and time.
Denon Original Disc Drive: The disc drive design of the DCD-1600NE is built with a high-class S.V.H (Suppress Vibration Hybrid) mechanism. New, condensed signal paths and circuitry that control pickup and decode noise are minimized to prevent excess noise and preserve sound quality. The hybrid construction of the S.V.H. loader provides stability in the disc drive, allowing for the decoding and signal reading with the upmost accuracy. The low center of gravity of the mechanism suppresses vibration occurring inside the DCD-1600NE as well as outside the structure. By eliminating excess vibration, servo-related operations are minimized. The reduction of unnecessary controls and current consumption allows for digital signals to be read from the disc with optimal accuracy.
Vibration-Resistant & Direct Mechanical Ground Construction: The DCD-1600NE's vibration-resistant design & direct mechanical ground construction reduces the adverse audio effects of heavy components so that sound quality meets Denon standards. Power transformers are fitted near the bottom of DCD-1600NE and immediately above the insulators to prevent unwanted vibration. By lowering the transformer, the vibration surrounding the chassis is reduced, resulting in pristine sound.
Advanced Circuitry with Minimized Signal Paths: The circuit patterns in the DCD-1600NE are thoughtfully engineered to make signal paths as short as possible. With shorter circuits, the interference between circuits and left and right channels is reduced, and the adverse influences on audio signals are minimized. As a result, the circuit paths in the DCD-1600NE reproduce sound that's clean, highly transparent and faithful to the original recording.
Advanced AL32 Processing Plus: The DCD-1600NE is equipped with Advanced AL32 Processing Plus, the latest in analog waveform reproduction technology from Denon. Advanced AL32 Processing Plus utilizes data interpolation algorithms, which support high-resolution audio sources. The algorithms add in the points that should exist before and after large quantities of data, smoothing out the waveform and restoring information that was lost during the digital recording. The resulting playback is highly detailed, free of interferences, richly expressive in the lower range and beautifully faithful to the original sound. Listen to songs as the artist intended.
DAC Master Clock: To accurately synchronize digital circuits, the DCD-1600NE is built with a DAC Master Clock design that treats the DAC as the master when clock signals are supplied. Crafted with exceptional quality, the master clock is immediately adjacent to the DAC, which suppresses jitter and ensures optimal precision in D/A conversion. It serves as the reference for semiconductor operation and optimizes digital audio circuitry. Two integrated clock oscillators reduce phase noise, each addressing a sampling frequency (44.1 kHz and 48 kHz). The DAC Master Clock is exceptional for multiple sampling frequencies from 44.1kHz to 192kHz and even up to DSD 5.6MHz, without rounding.
Pure Direct Mode: Listen with Pure Direct Mode on the DCD-1600NE. Pure Direct Mode feeds sound directly from the SACD player to your integrated amplifier or AV receiver, bypassing any DSP processing that might otherwise color the signal. What you hear is clean, detailed, accurate sound. In Pure Direct mode, the display turns off and digital audio output stops. This reduces the source of noise that can adversely affect sound quality, enabling high quality playback.
Analog & Digital Outputs: In addition to its analog stereo RCA outputs, the DCD-1600NE features one optical (toslink) and one coaxial (RCA) digital output to connect to the digital input of an integrated amplifier or AV receiver.
Note: Digital audio output stops during playback of the HD layer of Super Audio CDs, DSD files, and files with a sampling frequency of 32kHz.
Front-Panel & Remote Control: The supplied IR remote control features an ergonomically-designed layout that includes a cursor keypad, number keypad and dedicated function buttons such as random, repeat, info and program. There are also push-button controls on the front-panel of the SACD player to operate Power, Eject, Play/Pause, Stop, and Previous/Next Track.
- Program Playback: From the remote control you can program up to 20 tracks for playback.
- Direct Search: You can enter a song track or music file directly using the remote's numeric keypad.
Front-Panel Display: The front-panel display indicates the disc's total tracks and total time, as well as the track number and track time, and the song title, artist name and album name (depending on the source format), along with icons for random mode, repeat 1 and repeat all modes, and a folder icon for data discs. The dimmer function features 3 levels of display brightness that is adjustable via the remote control
Auto-Standby: If there is no input signal or operation for approximately 30 minutes, the Denon SACD player will automatically go into Standby mode.
IR In/Out: The Denon DCD-1600NE is outfitted with an IR input (3.5mm) and IR output (3.5mm) for installing an optional IR repeater system (sold separately).
