About the Escort iXc
A radar detector that's ready for your connected car
A radar detector that's ready for your connected car
Escort's iXc radar detector brings on-the-road protection into the 21st century with built-in Wi-Fi® connectivity, so automatic updates can help keep you ahead of new radar technologies and other threats well into the future. Escort's long-range protection and GPS assistance make you aware of potential issues in the present, and built-in Bluetooth® compatibility lets you add your smartphone as a guardian. It also features advanced technology to further suppress false alerts from new sources on the road, and it learns over time to stop other false alerts too.
Built-in Wi-Fi that talks to your car's network
The Escort iXc's built-in Wi-Fi compatibility lets it connect with your car's Wi-Fi signal (or portable hotspot, if that's how you roll). You can take advantage of all the real-time info like updated speed-trap alerts and false alert zones, without accessing the Escort Live app on your phone and depending on a Bluetooth connection — the radar detector takes care of it automatically. All you have to do is pair the app on your phone with your vehicle's Wi-Fi signal and the detector once, and the detector will automatically remember to activate Escort Live every time you get into your car with your phone. The built-in Wi-Fi also allows the detector to download firmware updates automatically — no need to download them from the web and transfer them to the detector.
Stay in the know with the Escort Live app
The Escort Live app is a simple way to get your iPhone® or Android™ smartphone involved in reducing your stress while driving. The app combines your GPS location information with real-time reports from other Escort Live users to keep you abreast of potential threats in your vicinity. You can also use the app to report your own sightings of enforcement or other potential travel hazards, which will then be instantly available to other Escort Live users. The app also alerts you to major changes in the posted speed limit, so you can stay on top of the situation. The Escort Live app is free to download, but a subscription fee is required to use many aspects of the Escort Live service — Escort includes a 1-year trial of the Escort Live Premium service with purchase of the iXc detector.
Works without Wi-Fi, too
With the iXc's built-in Bluetooth connectivity, you won't need Wi-Fi to take advantage of the Escort Live features. You can simply download the free app to your phone and pair the detector with your phone for instant wireless communication between the detector and the app — no additional hardware or cords needed.
A handy view
The Escort iXc's multi-color OLED display gives you a quick, easy-to-follow view of pertinent information about incoming threats. You can choose the backlight color to complement your vehicle's interior lighting, and the recognizable icons and graphics really stand out on the detector's screen. You'll also get voice alerts in English or Spanish so you can make timely decisions while keeping your eyes on the road.
AutoLearn feature for fewer false alerts
The iXc's AutoLearn feature combines GPS location information with the unique frequency footprint of signals it picks up, so it can recognize where you're likely to get a false alert along your drive. You'll hear fewer false alerts, even if you don't mark those locations as false alerts yourself. After as few as three hits on the same location of a false alert, you won't be bothered again.
In-Vehicle Technology (IVT) filtering
Factory collision avoidance systems help make cars even more safe by keeping drivers aware of potential accidents, but they wreak havoc on radar detectors because they employ similar frequencies as conventional radar guns. The Escort iXc's updatable IVT system recognizes collision avoidance and adaptive cruise control signals and separates them from the real threats, for fewer annoying false alerts.
Detect threats from far away
Escort has further improved the iXc's ability to sniff out signals far ahead of your car, so you're sure to get alerts with plenty of advance warning. Whether you're worried about X-band, K-band, Superwide Ka-band, or POP radar guns, Escort has you covered. That goes for laser enforcement as well, including off-axis signals that would get by lesser detectors. Escort's digital signal processor turns those signal detections into actual alerts quickly.
Camera locations database
The iXc comes with a preloaded database of safety, red-light, and radar camera locations across North America, allowing the detector to warn you when you get near. You can download updates, back up your data, and maintain the database through Escort's website or via Wi-Fi updates. You'll need a subscription to update the iXc's database — update subscriptions are available through Escort's website, and your iXc purchase includes 3 free months of the service.
Recall important locations
Just tap a button on the keyboard to store locations along the road where the speed limit drops quickly, or where you might encounter heavy enforcement. The iXc will warn you when you approach them in the future. Or press the mute button at the location of a known false signal — the detector will remember the signal, muting the alert the next time you pass by. You'll hear an alert if another type of signal comes from the same location..
The iXc's programmable features let you set it up to detect and alert you how you want. You can choose the bands to monitor, which meter you want to see, and more. Variable speed sensitivity allows the detector to run at maximum sensitivity at highway speeds, then to move automatically to city mode when you slow down, eliminating false alarms caused by outside interference. It can even give you an alert when you're going over a pre-determined speed limit. You'll have three sensitivity levels to choose from, and five different brightness settings, including fully dark.
The whole enchilada
Your iXc comes with a travel case, 12-volt SmartCord, and Escort's innovative EZ Mag Mount. The mount securely fastens to your windshield and provides quick, one-touch attachment for your detector, with minimal bouncing as you drive. The SmartCord lets you see alerts when the detector's in fully dark mode, or mute the detector without touching it. And when it's time to update the database of cameras and enforcement areas, the iXc's mini-USB input makes it easy for data transfer from your computer if you can't use Wi-Fi.

Overview: The Escort iXc radar/laser detector is the follow-up to the Escort iX detector, delivering improved detection range, built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, and giving you access to Escort's Defender database of speed traps, speed cameras, and red light cameras. The Escort iXc provides long-range warning of all radar bands, including X, K, and Superwide Ka. The unit includes a coiled cord with Escort's SmartCord USB adapter, the EZ Mag Mount, and a zippered storage case.
OLED Display: The Escort iXc features a multi-color OLED display, and clearly shows the type and strength of each threat. The unit also displays your current speed to help you make the best driving decisions. You can choose from four color themes (blue, green, red, and amber), and five brightness levels (Auto, Max, Med, Min, and Dark). Text displays can be shown in English or Spanish.
Sensitivity: The Escort iXc offers four radar sensitivity settings:
- Highway: Highway mode provides maximum sensitivity on all bands.
- Auto: The unit will continually analyze all incoming signals and intelligently adjust the sensitivity, providing long range warning with minimal false alarms.
- Auto No X: This mode is the same as Auto, but with the X band turned completely off.
- Auto Lo K: This mode is the same as Auto, but with lowered sensitivity on the K band.
Meter Mode: The Escort iXc gives you the choice of the following Meter Modes:
- Standard: single band with signal strength bar graph
- Spec: single band with numeric frequency
- Expert: multiple bands with signal strength bar graphs
- Simple: simple messages replace bands:
- "Caution": if traveling below cruise alert limit
- "Slow Down": if traveling above cruise alert limit
Clear Voice Alerts: The Escort iXc provides clear and unique voice alerts and spoken menu options. This allows you to make adjustments to the settings while keeping your eyes on the road. The unit will provide voice alerts and menu options in English or Spanish.
Bluetooth/Wi-Fi: The iXc features both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for wirelessly connecting your detector to the internet for receiving automatic updates from Escort Live users without having to open the app on your smartphone. Compatible with today's "connected cars", the iXc provides an extra layer of security with real-time traffic enforcement alerts from the millions of Escort Live users. You can also frequently update the Defender database of red light and speed camera locations, and keep your device working at top speed with software updates.
GPS Technology: The Escort iXc uses GPS technology to identify and eliminate false alarms. The GPS-powered TrueLock Filter lets you lock out false alerts by "marking" the location so the detector can reject the signal the next time you approach the area. The unit is equipped with the Defender database with thousands of safety camera locations, including red light camera and photo radar sites, and will warn you when you are approaching these sites. The mini-B USB port allows you to update your safety camera data and other software through the Escort website.
Mark Location (MRK): The Escort iXc has a "MRK" button that allows you to mark a specific location and label it for future reference. Once the location is marked and labeled, the unit will provide an advanced warning of upcoming red light cameras, red light/speed cameras, speed cameras, speed traps, and others.
In-Vehicle Technology (IVT) Filter: Many new car models are equipped with collision avoidance systems and lane departure warning systems. These systems operate on the same frequency as police radar systems, which can cause false alerts in radar detectors. Escort's improved IVT Filter practically eliminates IVT interference by using sophisticated software algorithms to identify the unique fingerprint of in-vehicle technology for each car's manufacturer. The Escort iXc can receive online updates via its USB port, as Escort regularly refines their anti-false alarm software.
AutoLearn: GPS technology is also used to "learn" the source of radar signals by location and frequency, and determine if the signal is a real threat or a false one. If the alert comes from an automatic door opener or motion sensor, the Escort iXc automatically locks out this source at this particular location. The unit can also "unlearn" signals that are no longer present at a particular location to protect you from locking out real threats.
Over-Speed Alert: When enabled, Over-Speed Alert will notify you when you are traveling over a specified speed. The factory default is 70 mph, but you can set a speed limit between 20 and 160 mph. When you travel above the speed threshold you have set, you'll receive a custom warning, such as Speed Limit, 5 Over, 7 Over, 10 Over, 15 Over, 20 Over, or 25 Over.
Escort Live App: The Escort iXc can connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi for syncing your radar detector to Escort Live, Escort's award-winning app. Escort Live provides access to warnings by other users in the area, and gives you access to local speed limit data for over-speed alerts. Escort Live on your smartphone can also give you more information on the larger smartphone display. The Escort Live app is available from Apple iTunes for iPhones running iOS 8.0 or later, and from Google Play for devices running Android 4.3 and up.
AutoMute: After the initial audible alert, the volume is automatically reduced, so you need not manually mute the sound. This feature can be defeated.
Earphone Jack: There is a standard 3.5mm earphone jack on the right side of the unit.
SmartCord USB: The supplied SmartCord power cable features a modular connector that plugs into the radar detector and the SmartCord USB adapter, which connects to your vehicle's lighter/accessory socket. The adapter features a mute button, alert light, power light, and USB (Type A) charging port for power/charging your smartphone or other device. Pressing the mute button multiple times features the follwing actions:
- 1 Press: Mute the audio for a specific alert
- 3 Presses: Locks out a false alert
- 2 Presses (while receiving a locked-out alert) to unlock
- Press/Hold: When connected to Escort Live, press and hold the mute button on unit or cord to manually report to other users a verified X or K-band alert, or a police officer observing traffic.
AutoPower: The AutoPower feature automatically turns off the unit to save unnecessary drain on the battery. The AutoPower feature is useful if your vehicle has a constant-power plug which provides 12 volts all the time. The "Off" setting automatically powers off the detector depending upon your vehicle's ignition type (constant power or switched). You can also set the AutoPower to turn the unit off after 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours. If the vehicle has not moved for the selected amount of time, the screen will go dark, and will automatically turn back on when you reach 10 MPH.
EZ Mag Mount Bracket: The Escort iXc radar detector comes with the EZ Mag Mount windshield bracket with a strong magnet to hold the detector in place, and a StickyCup suction cup for greater adhesion to the windshield. The StickyCup is approximately 2.5" in diameter.
Operating Bands: The iXc operates on the X, K, and Ka radar bands, as well as laser. For K and Ka band, you can monitor the entire range of frequencies, or select separate segments of the band to turn on or off. The specific bands include:
- X Band
- K Band: Freq: 24.050 - 24.250 GHz
