Pro fit VSM G3
Brant from Florida on 8/25/2015
2007 Ford F-150
The Pro Fit VSM G3 Vehicle-specific mount , is the answer to easily mounting your phone to the dash of your car without any damaging holes or sticky tape. It only took 10 minutes to install to the existing head unit mounting screws, hidden behind the dash fascia. It will also tilt to adjust to your field of vision. Highly recommended, thanks Crutchfield !
Pros: easy to mount / clean professional look.
Cons: none

ProFit GSM V3 installed on BMW 328i
Singh from Tampa, Florida on 5/12/2015
2007 BMW 3 Series
I got it installed by a car repair shop. The unit fit perfectly, although I felt it was too long and hence passed a lot of vibrations to the GPS. If it had an I channel support of some kind or the neck was shorter, the GPS would not vibrate too much. The unit is shipped without the J connector, with a note that if needed it can be shipped separately free of charge. I did not need it so I think this was good.

Doesnt last
nightraven from Arizona on 2/7/2015
2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser
This thing worked great for about 6-8 months then lost all of it's grip and the mount would just sag no matter how tight I tried to make it so it would hold. Then the extension arm actually broke a few months later. The material that it is made of seems to weaken with age. I was initially happy with this item as it fits well but it is poorly designed and poor materials used in the construction. There are a lot better products out there for less money so please look elsewhere, save money and disappointment!
Pros: Good fit
Cons: Does NOT last. Cheap materials and poor design. Expensive compared to other better designed & built units.

Effective Product. Straightforward Install.
bryanshow from Michigan on 1/12/2015
2010 Nissan Altima
The VSM G3 is a great solution for my '10 Nissan Altima. If you can install a car stereo with Crutchfield's instructions, you can install this mount. Know what you are buying. This is a bracket with a ball mount and an included mounting plate (that attaches to the ball). I combined this with a StudioProper case and mounting disc (a magnetic mount). It's a very clean install for my Altima. I recommend downloading the instructions from Pro Fit's website. The Crutchfield Mastersheet does not include instructions for mounting the bracket.
Pros: *Sturdy Install *Straightforward Install with Pro.Fit Instructions (it took me 30 min) *Clean (compared to suction cups, adhesive mounts, etc.)
Cons: *Requires you to drill small holes for mounting (Note: the holes are not noticeable with head unit installed...this would be fine if you were to remove the bracket and sell your vehicle, for example). *Installation requires you to remove your head unit (depending on your vehicle)

Shakes horribly.
Bill from Hartford, CT on 7/6/2014
I used the mount to hold the head of an ICOM 5100 radio. The head is lighter than my cell phone but it is big. The head vibrates like crazy even when cruising on smooth pavement. I am going to have to figure something else out.

Good holder for my IPhone
Pros: Good position for my phone while driving. Can be installed on left side by flipping over bracket.
Cons: Harder to install w/o instructions. Have to download from pro.fit website.

I am using this to hold a JVC HD radio receiver which is connected through my factory radio. It does the job even though it does partly blocks the center air duct which I don't mind since it keeps the JVC HD receiver cool when I am running the air. However, it does tend to vibrate, shake and occasionally I have to re-adjust the JVC radio's position and tighten down the locking nut on the back of this bracket, which occasionally loosens due to the car's vibrations. Pictures of my install are available upon request.
Pros: Easy to install once you have removed the center console trim around the a/c ducts and the a/c ducts themselves. You can actually mount two of these, one on the left side duct & one on the right duct side, if needed.
Cons: The only BIG con I have with this bracket is it's PRICE. For a small piece of metal & plastic is quite steep for what you get.

Good product. Not necessarily its own weakness, but it would be nice if it could be installed to the left of the radio. It would be easier to reach with people with short arms (like my wife)

Poor product
Craig A from Baltimore, MD on 6/26/2012
This is a poorly designed product. It looks great but functions poorly. When a phone is installed in the holder, it vibrates so bad that I was concerned that the phone might break. A call to Pro-Fit and they suggested using the extension arm that comes with the unit. "Brace the arm against the side of the dash to add support. That will greatly reduce the shaking." was their suggestion. It didn't work as the unit shook so bad it knocked the arm away from the dash too. Forget being able to see the phone display if your vehicle is in motion as it will just be a shaky blur. Save your time and money and find a better product to mount your phone to your dash. This ones going back.
Pros: Looks nice-small profile
Cons: Extremely shaky

It was pretty much like the mounting hardware that came with my XM receiver, so it didn't help my cause getting the receiver off of the top of my dash. Not at all like the vehicle specific mount I got for my Dodge Ram.
Pros: It was constructed well.
Cons: It was an adhesive mount for on top of the dash, which in my oppinion looks bad.

Recieved this item in mail. Installed quickly and easily. However my garmin GPS could not get a signal. When I queired customer service I was told to "locate it somewhere else in the vehicle" so much for vehicle specific. Diagrams showed one location only, air bags occupied any other panel that a signal. Needs work
Pros: Quick delivery
Cons: Not as advertised

Not complete
Greg from Carlsbad, NM on 2/9/2012
2010 Dodge Ram 2500
Works well, I liked the placement, had no problems with noise. Install was easy for me, but that was only because I know how to remove my center dash, not because the instructions told me how to. However; it was not complete, after 1/2 an hour of attempting to attach my TOMTOM GO 720 to the unit I went to the manufacturer's web site and found that I needed to buy (an equally priced) adapter in order to actually use the unit. Knowing this I would have still purchased the unit, but I would not have purchased it from Crutchfield, rather someone who sold the COMPLETE set-up.
Pros: Clean look, easy install, works well
Cons: incomplete, poor instructions

Almost great
Kay from Folsom, CA on 6/28/2011
2004 Lexus ES330
The new version of the G3, comes with a 3 inch ball extension arm. This is the worst part of the mount. The extension gave more latitude and adjustment, but the vibration was terrible, even at a gentle cruise. I removed the arm and attache the phone mount directly to the dash mount, and the vibration greatly reduced. Much better, but still slight vibration. The could use a thicker gauge plate to reduce vibration in future upgrades. Other than that, fits my 2004 Lexus ES perfectly. Installed in 10 minutes, including dash removal and install. Don't forget to order the Pro.Fit Hook Tool set!

The idea is great but the placement plan is awful. The GPS would cover part of the center upper vent and would make the use of some of the radio controls difficult.

Great Mount,A little pricey
C Corey from Bradenton,FL on 6/5/2011
2007 Toyota Camry
This mount works well, I use this to mount with my garmin nuvi and mine doesn't shake or slide like the previous post. I'm very happy with the product I installed it myself it is a bit pricey I think but I don't like windshield mounts so this was a good option for me.

Pro.Fit VSM G3
The mount installs as it is designed to. However, when my Garmin Nuvi is mounted on the unit, it wiggles from side to side when driving. This is due to the very thin metal piece which holds the small black ball. If the visible metal portion of the mount was thicker, it would prevent my GPS unit from wiggling. It's still a better install option than having to use the suction cup mount that comes with the unit.
