Our take on the Sanus CFR2136

If you have a large, multi-component audio/video system, you know storage can be a problem. The brawny Sanus CFR2136 is a great solution. It can handle a whole-house system and then some. And it has enough space within the cabinet to run your cables.

If you have a large, multi-component audio/video system, you know storage can be a problem. The brawny Sanus CFR2136 is a great solution. It can handle a whole-house system and then some. And it has enough space within the cabinet to run your cables.

Sturdy casters make it easy to move, and each shelf is backstopped so your components sit securely during repositioning. Quick-release removable side and back panels give you access to your components.

Rack-mount or shelve your gear

The CFR2136 can accommodate up to 36 rack-mounted components that are 1-3/4" high. Or you can use the included shelving to store up to eighteen larger components. You also get rack face plates, so you can fill in empty gaps between rack-mounted of shelved components for a cleaner look.

Easy cable connections

Space behind the shelves lets you run connecting cables between your components. And a three-rack panel that can be attached to either the top or the bottom of the rack's rear gives you options for running cables out of the cabinet.

Industrial-strength construction

The beefy CFR2115 can support up to 500 lbs. of electronic gear. Welded heavy-gauge steel construction makes it durable and strong, and a locking tempered glass door gives you added security. Drop-down legs provide stable support, and they're adjustable, so you can ensure your gear stays level.

Ventilation to keep components cool

Integrated vents along the edges and air holes in the back panel keep air circulating. The cabinet also features cooling shelves on both the top and bottom of the rack for improved airflow. In addition, every shelf also has ventilation slots to help keep the temperature down. .

Absolutely could not be happier

Robert from Owasso, OK on 12/1/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This thing is exactly what I was looking for and needed. At first I did not think you would have enough room to hold all 13 monoblock amplifiers plus my players & 3 surge suppressor's & of corse my processor. After getting everything loaded in there it all fits and has room to spare. I almost ordered the largest one which I'm glad I did not has this thing has plenty of room. Could not be happier I also love the accessories you can get with it like their ecosystem lights and fans That all just linked together it's very nice and well thought out.

Pros: By far the best bang for the buck.! Quality is extremely great and the accessories that you can add make it even nicer. Also showed up within 48 hours of ordering!

Cons: Having 2 subwoofers by it made the side panels rattle. I simply bought some felt pads from Walmart ($2 for a whole bag) & cut them down and placed them where the panels were loose and gone! Problem fixed. That's the only thing I can think of that I do not like about it

Good Unit but Wrong Info Given - Arrived Damaged.

Freddy from Lynnwood, WA on 5/8/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The unit itself is great, the review is more on Crutchfield's side of things. 1. I was given WRONG info on how the unit shipped, assembled or in pieces. Cruicial info because my deidicated theater is on the 2nd floor of my home. 2. UPS driver did not haul unit to my driveway, I had to haul all 219lbs of it on a hand truck myself. 3. Unit came in dented and damaged. Not worth returning as I already took time off work just to receive the freight delivery, not about to waste another vacation day on this. They issued a $100 credit on the damage but upon disassembly of the unit and repairs made, $100 is not worth it. I will need to think twice from now on before ordering anything from Crutchfield. This was a total nightmare from the beginning to the end.

Pros: Nice sturdy unit - however mine came in damaged. Not worth returning, so much issues and trouble getting this unit.

Cons: 1. WRONG info given by Crutchfield rep about the unit being shipped in pieces or as a whole. This was crucial due to the fact that my dedicated theater is on the 2nd floor of my home. 2. UPS cannot wheel the unit up to my garage, I had to haul all 200lbs myself on a hand truck. 3. Not sure if $100 off on the damage was worth it. Will think twice before purchasing from Crutchfield again.

Perfect for my needs

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Have not used the rack yet as I am in the process of building out my home theater and needed the rack in hand to be sure I framed my in wall opening correctly. The cabinet seems well built and the handle/latch on the door was nicer than I anticipated (flips up then turns keeping it recessed when not in use). Coming fully loaded with shelves is nice but the free shipping on Crutchfield was the best. There aren't many racks I found in this size range ... most were 27u or 42/44u) and when combining the features and cost this was the best deal by far I could find since shipping was often $300+ on other racks / sites. If you are in the market definitely keep this on your short list.

Pros: Glass door, preloaded with shelves, fully enclosed, well built for the purpose/price

Cons: No rack fan included but I saved enough with free shipping to more than offset that detail

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This rack is extremely well designed, similar to racks used to hold computer servers in large companies. I found there to be plenty of sturdy, adjustable shelves supplied. The supplied plastic shelf brackets and tie-down straps are an excellent means to prevent inadvertant equipment movement. The shelves and internal support members are replete with slots which may be used to segregate AC power and data cables with self-supplied Velcro ties. The ability to close the front door and insert the solid panel sides is an excellent way to assist in keeping audio components cool through natural convection. Audio equipment visibility is excellent through the closed glass front door. This rack is solid & sturdy, moving easily on my carpeted floor with the installed casters. I am very pleased with this choice of environment for the setup and utilization of my audio equipment.

Pros: Solid, well-designed, flexibility as to how the user desires to install equipment, very neat in appearance.

Cons: None noted.

Why did you buy this?

I want to organize my equipment and keep it in one centralized (and secure) location. This cabinet is exactly what I need! [ Michael  Aug 28, 2018 ]
I got this to hopefully reduce ambient temperature during equipment operation and therefore prolong equipment life. [ Robert  Oct 20, 2017 ]

2 questions already asked

The only difference between the Sanus CASH22 and the CASH23 is the CASH23 allows more compartment/shelf height at 5-1/4" compared to 3-1/2". For more information regarding your other questions, I would recommend contacting an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat--they will be able to go over all of your options in greater detail. I hope that helps! [ Larry  Sep 23, 2016 ]  Staff
