The Sanus SA405 lets you mount a sound bar below your wall-mounted flat-panel TV. These brackets fasten directly to your wall mount, and can be adjusted to hold your sound bar snugly against your TV. The SA405 can be used with fixed, swivel, or full-motion mounts. Included spacers ensure your sound bar will be mounted at the proper depth. And because the SA405 mounts connect directly to your wall mount, your sound bar will always remain in the same plane as your TV, no matter how you swivel or tilt it.

Installation: The Sanus SA405 soundbar speaker mount attaches to the threaded inserts or keyhole slots on the back of your soundbar speaker and the lower threaded inserts on your wall-mounted, flat-panel television. The SA405 shares the same lower threaded inserts on your TV as the wall-mount bracket.

Note: The SA405 is not compatible with soundbars that have threaded inserts on the bottom of the speaker enclosure (such as Samsung, LG, JBL and others).

Adjustable: The Sanus SA405 includes two soundbar brackets and two TV brackets. These brackets features a variety of mounting holes and are height adjustable to fit the dimensions of your television and soundbar speaker.

It is a very simple product that works well for what it is. There is no reason it shouldn't work with other mounts so long as they have perforations in the structure of the mount behind the TV that the bolts can thread through. This product mounts flat so the holes in the TV mount need to face front to back, not side ways, though I imagine even in that case you could buy angle brackets from a hardware store that would help you to make the turn.

I don't know, but I would not recommend it with the Sanus VML5-B1 I bought. The soundbar mount required some serious torque on its mounting screws to reduce the sound bar shifting side-to-side and making the whole installation look out of balance, and that was after I added some of my own lock washers. I was afraid I would damage the sound bar or one of the two mount products but I kept tightening the fasteners since it was easier than starting over. It is still a touchy situation, but compared to the time and hassle of taking it all apart, sending it back, and hoping for something better, I just live with it. Maybe you will have better luck with a non-Sanus wall mount.

If you look at the owner's manual, there's a very explicit warning to only use this for mounting below your tv.

Interesting concept. I have 3 mounted below tv. Never considered a top mount. Now I'm wondering why not. Do you always color outside the lines? I don't see why it would not work. There is plenty of adjustability with the mount, and lots of hardware options provided. You will end up with extra screws. Try it and report back. Curious minds want to know.

I've only mounted underneath, but I think it would be too unstable for putting the weight above the mounts. They stayed moveable even after I tightened them down.

I mounted my sound bar beneath my TV as suggested in the instructions. I think that the bracket would struggle to hold the weight of the sound bar above the TV.You might be able to make this work without the bracket by connecting the speaker directly to the wall with some sort of hardware .

They are quite flexible in there application, but I'm not sure what they can support laterelly. We mounted a sound bar and only needed part of the bracket.
