Our take on the Sanus TRILLIUM63

Sanus designed their handsome Trillium Series cabinets with the audiophile in mind. The compartment doors have unique steel panels that allow infrared signals from your remote to pass through. And these open air panels, together with ventilation slots in the shelves, allow air to flow freely throughout the cabinet, keeping components cool. The cabinet can support a flat-panel TV with a screen size of up to 70" and weighing up to 100 lbs.

This is a good quality made product that should give me years of service. A little challenge to put together at times but with some deep thought process going on the task at hand was a success!

Well thought out product.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased in black 8 yrs back now have new in dark cherry and love it . Sanus design is timeless.

Pros: Will last many years. Excellent quality doors and finish.

Cons: Just make sure the audio/video components are compatible with shelf size and location. May require some type of heat ventilation/dissipation.

Save your cash. Not a quality tv stand

RC from New York, NY on 1/22/2019

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We just spent over 5 hours of our day off assembling this product. I thought it will be a good quality since it's Sanus. There is no way this cost this much or not even the sale price I paid. The quality is not that good! The cheap fiber board have scratches and obvious signs that they were repacked and sent to me after looking at the parts as we build it. I probably should have returned the whole package but I broke the box and I have been waiting for this product so we started the assembly anyway because I was hoping it will still be fine. After working and looking every scratched or dented piece, we finally got into the door attachment. I just lost it! The doors weren't locking right and upon checking some of the locks were bent!! This is really terrible! Now the cheap fiber board doors weren't fitting right! The side assembly also has 2 pieces because they decided that it will be nice to have extra space in there. It's really ugly, they don't lock right and you can't even open it! Sad to say but this product will probably in the dumpster after months of use!

Pros: Looks good on picture but not after assembly.

Cons: Cheaply made, pretty bad design, cheap and scratched parts, not worth your time and money

Crutchfield customer from Ada, OH on 1/20/2019

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very nice looking TV console with enough cabinet room to store tall AVR's and stereo components. Cons: the top shelf has a support board that has two optional orientations and neither of them were quite right for me. With the board facing forward, there is room for a soundbar or center speaker, but the remaining space only allows components with very little depth. For example, I can barely fit my cable box in there and then only on the left side because otherwise the support board blocks the power cord jack. If you choose the other, edge-on orientation, I can fit other components into the left and right spaces easily, but then I can't fit in a center speaker. I was prepared for the tricky hinge assembly because of the other reviews so it didn't seem so bad. It's good that there is a system for adjusting the hinged doors. My console has a defect in that one of the side-back doors was too tight. It had to be sanded so that it would pop open. I really liked the idea of those "secret" doors, but they don't work too well in practice. Otherwise, 5 stars.

Looks great

Michael from New Market, MD on 11/26/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm happy with the looks and how it's built. My only problem with assembling was the side door hinges. Sometimes the picture just does not give you a clear vision of what to do. Typed directions would have been helpful. I ended up taking off the pre-set to see how the hinges connect. I assembled 95 percent alone but called a nephew to assist with the doors. The on sale price was great. Always appreciate the quality of merchandise at Crutchfield.

Pros: Great price, strong piece of furniture 135#

Cons: All visual directions sometimes unclear.

Crutchfield customer from Smyrna, GA on 11/25/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Solid media cabinet. It looks good and stores equipment nicely. Installation is time-consuming, but straightforward. As others have noted, fitting the doors and aligning the hinges is a major pain. All in all, its a good product for the price.

Crutchfield customer from Clearwater, FL on 11/23/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good looking piece of furniture only drawback is the difficulty aligning the hinged doors. Would have been five stars if easier to align the doors.

Built like a tank - great for cable management

Built like a tank - looks great and love the cable management.

Cons: Only negative was there was some damaged pieces from the shipping. Crutchfield reps were a champ though and fixed the issues.

Accounting for the handsome employee discount I received, I would give

Michael from Charlottesville, VA on 8/14/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Accounting for the handsome employee discount I received, I would give this five stars. It looks good and is spacious enough to accommodate my receiver, power conditioner, consoles, and two Polk bookshelf speakers. The small doors on the back make it easy to hide my modem while making it easily accessible if necessary. However, assembling the hinges was a bit frustrating (required a lot of banging and then tweaking "settings" screws), and the overall product quality strikes me as poor for the price (it feels as if parts are loosely/precariously coupled). For full price, I would have wanted something I could look at and say, "That is one solid piece of furniture." But for the discounted price, I'm very happy with how it looks and functions.

Pros: Appearance, spaciousness

Cons: Assembly, overall quality

Leslie from Wylie, TX on 7/8/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We have been looking for an audio cabinet for some time and kept coming back to the Trillium63. We are very pleased with the finished product. There were a couple of issues with a damaged divider panel dowel and a hinge pin on a side door that was broken. While I have no doubt that the Crutchfield team would have taken care of this, I was able to repair these two issues and am now enjoying the finished product. These two minor issues are the reason I cannot give this 5 stars. To those who may be considering this, I highly recommend this product, but be aware, as others have stated, you will need to set aside an hour or two for assembly. However, you will be most pleased with the finished product.

Pros: Handles all my audio gear, is nice looking, and very solid! The front "steel" looking grates are removable and could be replaced with glass for a different look.

Good looking tv stand

charles from Santee, CA on 7/1/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for a stand that I could put my Polk Audio CSi A6 in and this was the only one that it would fit. I did have to leave the middle divider out for it to fit. It matches well to the other Polks done in cherry. It shipped fast and was well packaged. It goes together really easy until you get to the front doors. As everyone has said they are very frustrating and the I almost gave it a lower score due to this. It has good wire management and cleaned up the rat nest of wires in the back. I have a 65inch tv on it and it looks great. I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend it.

Pros: 1. Fits my center speaker and matches the other speakers (cherry) 2. Good air flow/ wire management

Cons: 1. the front doors/cheap hardware

Decent media cabinet on a budget.

Greg from Saint Paul, MN on 5/20/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

To correctly state the outside of the cabinet; top, side & doors is real stained wood, but yes it is a veneer (not solid hardwood) The dark cherry stain color isn't really accurate of real cherry hardwood but looks decent. Inside parts are a laminate wood grain look. I did a lot of searching & comparing of media cabinet sizes- nicely meets my needs and hides equipment with metal grid on doors while still has good air circulation & equip. remotes usually work. Packaging was done really well however the top front (most visible) edge had a 1 1/4" scuff. I plan to call Sanus directly to see if there is any touch up stain available. As other reviews state the door hardware doesn't adjust very easily or very well. I'm pleased I bought this piece on clearance, would have been disappointed at full price.

Pros: -Good size for most audio equip & minimal CD/ DVD storage. -Unique look with metal grid detail on doors. -Good air circulation for audio gear.

Cons: -Door hardware doesn't adjust very well. -Really bummed with scuff on front top edge. -Left lower back piece off for better air circ. & top back piece doesn't fit right so had to leave off too.

Good Value. Easy On The Eyes. Veneer, Not Solid Wood. Doors Can Be A Challenge For Good Fit & Finish. Best part of all is the support team @ Crutchfield!

Pros: Looks & Functionality.

Cons: Veneer & Have To Work Hard For Good Fit & Finish

Cool cabinet

Crutchfield customer from San Diego, CA on 4/20/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The cabinet works excellent for receiver and amp..plenty of air circulation. Some of the hardware (hinges) did require a little work to fit correctly.

Pros: Plenty of room and air

Cons: Hardware needed persuading to fit correcly

Michael from Cave Creek, AZ on 4/8/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Although it is veneer not wood, it looks Great!! And if you are looking for functionality, that still looks good and keeps the Mrs happy, this is it!! Not only did it accommodate my A/V Receiver with over 25 cables out the back, I was pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness and the magnetically sprung doors for the 'hidden' compartment on each side. I am sure I have 30-40' of coiled cable on each side. The top shelf has two optional installations depending on how you are going to use it. The steel grates on front look good, but I will admit they limit the angle that you can use some IR remotes. Hence the 4 stars. And one of the bolt anchors pulled out, but a dab of Elmers White glue and a few hours and it was stronger than original..........

Pros: Spacious Functionality & Looks

Cons: Steel grate can limit angle of use for IR remotes,no issues with radio remotes like Firestick or Dish DVR.

Media Stand

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great customer service at Crutchfield. Called them about the dimensions being wrong on there web site for the depth of the top shelf and two damaged parts. They immediately had the two parts on order from the vendor. Both parts arrived within a week and were packaged extremely well.My wife and I will order from them again based on customer service experience. Thanks again. C.T.

Pros: Wonderful customer experience to correct problems.

Cons: Dimensions not right on web site for top shelf

Not bad, but it has issues

Gene from Franksville, WI on 4/2/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really wanted to like the Trillium63, but it has problems. I'm good at assembling products like this, and enjoy doing so, but this one is the exception. It is a difficult assembly and the directions are not very good. As others have pointed out, installing and aligning the doors is a nightmare. Fit is uneven and finish is poor. It looks okay at first, but the finish mars and comes off easily. Ventilation is pretty good, but I've left off the upper rear cover to get more ventilation, and may add a USB fan, too. There isn't as much room for a center channel speaker as you expect. I had to remove the center (load bearing) spacer to accommodate the speaker. As usual, Crutchfield's service was outstanding, and the packing was extremely good. Sanus has discontinued this item and dropped the price. At this price, I suppose it's worth it, but prepare yourself for an uphill battle putting it together.

Pros: Fantastic packaging Hides components fairly well, while still providing ventilation Great service from Crutchfield

Cons: Difficult assembly and poor instructions Doors are a nightmare Poor fit and finish

Nicely thought out, but parts and finish leave much to be desired

Anil from Coral Gables, FL on 3/31/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice design but we had a faulty part that broke during the relatively involved set up process. Materials used were relatively cheap and the quality you'd expect for the price. The doors are difficult to align perfectly, so sit a little crooked after several attempts. Would have expected more given the design and layout were well thought out.

Pros: Design, concept

Cons: Cheap materials, door hinges weak, one was faulty; doesn't align well even after much tweaking. Finish imperfect.

Nice Cabinet

Mike from Wilmington, NC on 3/14/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I gave the stereo cabinet an overall 4 stars based mainly on the relatively cheap materials and the fit and finish was not up to my high standards. The instructions were easy to understand and it was easy to construct. Took me approximately on hour to put together. I like the overall design of the cabinet and access to equipment is easy. It accomplished my main objective of hiding all of my chords behind the cabinet. I would purchase this again; but, not at full price.

Pros: Instructions were clear Easy to assemble Sale price

Cons: Relatively cheap materials

Useful and handsome TV stand

Andy from Littleton, CO on 2/18/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great looking stand with many useful features. The dark walnut color was true to the images here on Crutchfield. I'm impressed by the quality of materials used for this stand, and the sale price for this item is unbelievable. Buy it!

Pros: Price, design, build, finish

Cons: Hard to build, finicky hinges

Great purchase

Fit my Yamaha 3070, looked forever for a stand it would fit in. Very happy with the purchase. Looks great. Cable management is awesome. Survived shipping due to excellent packaging.

Pros: Cable management, style

Cons: Wish it was a little taller.

Package arrived undamaged. Stand is very nice piece of furniture and is deep enough for my RXA A3050 . Nice ventilation and cord management, would highly recommend. Assembly was a little difficult for on person.

Pros: looks awesome!

Cons: none

Nate D from Marlborough, MA on 11/26/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice, good looking stand. I love that it has the mesh style doors, but is on the lower end of the price range for a stand of this size. Great fit for a 65" TV.

Pros: - Looks great -Decent materials -Good ventilation

Cons: -Hanging the doors is a huge pain -Seriously, like, what were they thinking with these doors -Tremendous about of packaging waste

Crutchfield customer from Toledo, OH on 10/8/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good value, but only because it was on sale. Build quality is mediocre. Installation is cumbersome. So far has held up okay. However, would probably replace with something more sturdy as I buy more components and gradually build my system.

Great Media Center!

Scott from Navarre, FL on 9/11/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Solid product and very fast delivery. GREAT price on Crutchfield too! Other reviews mentioned difficulty in assembly, and I can see why. There are no words, just pictures. My wife and I being very visual were able to set it up in about 1.5 hours. If you tend to follow detailed instructions to assemble furniture, this product may frustrate you. There's plenty of room for all our hardware, including a larger than average center channel speaker. The cable management is great and the ventilation holes in the center shelves are very large and provide enough air flow for my receiver and gaming consoles. I would definitely recommend this product. We love it!!!

Pros: - Easy to assemble if you can follow pictures without words. - Solid and Stable - Great ventilation - Very sturdy

Cons: - Doors a little difficult to adjust the hinges for the right fit, but with a little time and patience, they can be adjusted to fit perfectly.

Highly flexible media cabinet

Ken from Mc Lean, VA on 7/26/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great media cabinet with ability to meet the needs of many. Offers tall shelving. Has plenty of ventilation. Holds several components. Has space for misc items, e.g., Apple TV, wii, Xbox. Wires and cables can be hidden. Dark Walnut color blends well with any decor. Only issue is the overall finish of the material and the alignment of the doors and shelf pieces. But for the price this is a great buy (especially from Crutchfield).

Pros: Overall look. Looks expensive. Space for all types of components. Ventilation galore. Area for wires and cables to be hidden. Fits 65-75 inch screen TVs well.

Cons: Material fit and finish. Installation can take extra time.

Nice stand

Jeffrey from Florida on 12/6/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a nice tv stand,I really like the design.I really wanted to give this stand 5 stars,But the color dark cherry is not dark cherry,It's just brown and it's made from MDF.

Pros: Design

Cons: Materials,MDF wood.

Good but some issues

RalphR from Pittsburgh on 9/20/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I like this unit and it is a perfect fit under my 70 in. TV. It takes a good amount of time to assemble and adjust. I am an experienced wood worker so I know how to adjust hinges but the average person might be confused and the hinges were definitely not pre-adjusted for the unit. Fit and finish of the doors could use work. The center lower door handles don't line up when the doors are aligned. Could not engage one of the screws holding the top down because of misalignment but there are several others so it wasn't a big deal. The unit is not inexpensive but I also understand you can spend a lot more. Overall, I think it is a good but not great value. Agree that the color is well represented as a pleasing dark warm brown.

Pros: Nice styling, loads of room and specialized compartment for center channel speaker.

Cons: Fit and finish could be improved

Great media cabinet!

CaliCrutchfieldFan from California on 3/22/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered the dark walnut color, and it's true to what you see pictured. The cabinet has a warm yet modern look. Cables/ power cords can be hidden in the special rear-side spaces (one space on each side of the cabinet, with doors that open to reveal the cords). It was well-packaged and no damage from the shipping. I am very glad I returned the cabinet I ordered before I found this one. This is the cabinet you want for your tv/media needs. I am glad I ordered it through Crutchfield.

Pros: Cable/cord concealment, ample space for multiple media devices, looks great

Cons: Could be time-consuming to assemble.

Q & A

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

Great price and reviews. We needed a stand for a 65" TV and some home entertainment components and this seemed to fit the bill. [ Chris  Dec 23, 2018 ]
After shopping half the night all over the internet, I kept coming back to the TRILLIUM. First it is half the price of other entertainment systems with the same specs. Second is the reviews, which are always the first thing I look at. And third is the look it has, nothing else quite like it. [ Ronald  Dec 13, 2018 ]
It's cool. [ Darren  Sep 17, 2018 ]
Great price, good looking stereo cabinet . [ Scott  Sep 08, 2018 ]
The cabinet was the right size and style. It matches the other Sanus rack that we purchased some months ago. [ Erick  Mar 15, 2018 ]
Good clean stereo system cabinet. [ Scott  Jan 22, 2019 ]
Fits my new Qled I just purchased from crutchfield. Great price, great style. [ Jeffrey  Dec 01, 2018 ]
High quality and fits my center speaker [ John  Mar 17, 2018 ]
I have been looking for an entertainment center when I noticed this one on sale with Crutchfield. The looks well built and sturdy, with a decent price... I am looking forward to setting it up and making use of it. [ Rick  Mar 12, 2018 ]
The nearly 20" depth for stereo components and vented design were what first caught my eye, then it got marked down half price!! [ Steven  Dec 05, 2017 ]
I chose this piece after searching for a long time. It's the highest quality piece I found in this price range. [ Christian  Sep 23, 2017 ]

4 questions already asked

I just measured my lower main compartment and it's just over 9 inches. 9 1/10 inches. Hope this helps. This is a great cabinet!! [ Scott  Feb 07, 2019 ]
The spec sheet is accurate. [ Jacob  Feb 07, 2019 ]
HI John, The owners manual says that each side of the lower shelf will support 100lbs, therefore the answer is yes.I ended up mounting my tv on the wall and the center channel speaker on top. The dimensions for the top shelf were not correct for the depth. The web site said 10.5 inches when it was 8.75. [ CRAIG  May 01, 2018 ]
According to the installation manual, the two bottom shelves can hold up to 100lbs each. The upper shelf can hold up to 50lbs, and the top surface has a 100lb capacity. [ Andy  May 01, 2018 ]
You should be fine. I have a similar set up. This is a very sturdy cabinet. Thanks [ Richard  Apr 30, 2018 ]
Hi John! Absolutely it will support those components. I love this stand! I have my Marantz 7011 on left side and a large panamax voltage regulator on right along with Oppo player on top left shelf and xfinity cable box on right top. The quality of the stand is up there as well! Hopefully this helps [ Brian  Apr 30, 2018 ]
i think it will. I have similar setup and no issues. [ Sean  Apr 30, 2018 ]
I have this exact same set up with a Polk center speaker which is a pretty big size and i also have an Onkyo 610 receiver on the shelf. I have a cable box, router and Apple TV inside the console. It's a sturdy piece of furniture. [ Lachandra  Apr 30, 2018 ]
Top shelf is rated for 100lbs according to Sanus. I would be OK with that but no more. Unit is 63 inches wide, so check your tv to see if it will fit. Doubt it would look right if there were an overhang. [ DARREN E  Mar 07, 2018 ]
Definitely! This is a very sturdy and I have an older 65" Samsung that weighs a lot and it is doing just fine. The top shelf actually supports up to 100lbs. [ Joshua  Mar 06, 2018 ]
Yes, I would say so. I weight 180lbs, and there is no issue with me sitting on the tv stand.... [ marc  Mar 06, 2018 ]
If you look at the user manual (there's a PDF linked at the product page), it shows dimensions of the center compartment. The divider can be installed in 2 orientations. One divides the upper compartment into two side-by-side compartments. The other mounts it so that a center speaker can fit. Be careful, though, about the depth of your speaker. The user manual is misleading and makes it seem like there's 10.5" of depth for a center speaker. There's actually only 9.5" [ Matthew  Feb 16, 2018 ]
It does, which was a surprise to me, but luckily not a problem. I find it perfect for game consoles. It's a structural component of the unit, though if you had the means to cut a piece back, I'm sure it would still work. The lower shelf is the same. [ Starhuckster  Feb 15, 2018 ]
There is a divider but it can go either direction. Unless you have a very deep speaker it should fit no problem. This unit is great, I've had it for a few months now. [ Sean  Feb 14, 2018 ]
We left the divider out during assembly, seemed to be optional, and our center speaker fits fine. [ Sylvia  Feb 14, 2018 ]
Yes there is a divider, you can install it 2 ways when assembling. Length wise or vertical. If you install the divider length wise you have a depth of 10.54 inches along the 40.31 length. [ Keith R.  Feb 14, 2018 ]
There is a divider in the middle of the top inside shelf, BUT when you build it you have a choice to either use it to equally divide the top shelf space into two compartments for equipment OR placing the divider in way so it sits further to the back of the cabinet so you can fit a wide Center channel within the top inside shelf using the full width. Hope this helps. [ Keane K.  Feb 14, 2018 ]
Yes. There is a divider in the middle of the top inside shelf. You could not put a center channel speaker there. I use mine for an AV receiver on one side and a blu-ray player on the other side. It is a very well thought out piece of storage equipment. Nothing else comes close in terms of how much gear it can accommodate. [ Jason  Feb 14, 2018 ]
You can configure the top shelf two different ways. First, it you can install the divider front-to-back and divide the top compartment into two separate sections. This would not allow for a center channel speaker to be centered behind the front cover. The other way you can do it is install that divider so it is oriented in parallel with the front and back of the cabinet. This allows you to put a shallow center channel speaker in front of the divider. I think it allows for about 7.5" of depth on the center channel in this configuration. I suggest downloading the technical drawings for this stand from the Sanus website if you have additional questions. [ Andy  Feb 14, 2018 ]
