More details on the Nikon MB-N10
Overview: The MB-N10 is a multi-battery power pack, specifically designed for Nikon's Z7 and Z6 full-frame mirrorless cameras. The device holds two EN-EL15b or EN-EL15a rechargeable Lithium-ion batteries to give you much more shooting time, compared to using the battery in the camera alone. The MB-N10 attaches to the bottom of the Z7 or Z6 camera body via the camera's tripod socket. Another tripod socket is provided for mounting the camera and power pack to a tripod. The power pack's design matches that of the Z6 and Z7 cameras, including the same weather sealing. No batteries are included with the MB-N10 power pack. When mounted to the camera, the power pack adds approximately 1.75" to the overall height of the camera. With two EN-EL15b batteries, the MB-N10 adds just over a pound to the overall weight.
Charging Time: The MB-N10 has a USB Type C connector that lets you charge one or two EN-EL15b batteries in the power pack. The EH-7P Charging AC adapter (sold separately or included with the Z7 camera) plugs into the MB-N10 for charging. Charging two fully-discharged EN-EL15b batteries takes approximately 5 hours 10 minutes. When the MB-N10 is connected to the camera, you must turn off the camera before charging the batteries.
Note: You cannot charge EN-EL15a or EN-EL15 batteries in the power pack using the EH-7P adapter. They must be charged using the MH-25a battery charger (supplied with the Z7 or Z6 cameras).
Battery Life: Using the MB-N10 multi-battery power pack with your Z6 or Z7 mirrorless camera increases the length of shooting time up to 1.8x more than using the camera's battery alone. This translates to the following number of still shots and movie shooting times for each camera:
|Shooting Mode||Monitor Mode||Z7||Z6|
|Still Images||Viewfinder Only||610 shots||570 shots|
|Monitor Only||740 shots||700 shots|
|Movies||Viewfinder Only||155 minutes||155 minutes|
|Monitor Only||155 minutes||155 minutes|
Separate Compartments: The MB-N10 features two separate battery compartments. This allows you to replace one battery while the other battery powers the camera. This is quite beneficial for time-lapse and interval shooting, as well as for long videos. Three status LEDs are provided for each battery, letting you quickly check the charge levels at a glance. When two batteries are inserted, power is first drawn from the battery in chamber A until it is depleted, then drawn from the battery in chamber B.
