A Classic Nikon Lens

I've been using Nikon equipment for over 50 years and the 50mm f/1.4 was my first lens. With the evolution to digital all of my lens are zooms. I bought this lens primarily for night street photography. It has proven to be everything I thought it would be and more. Even mounted on my D850 it is far less intimidating to people than my 24-70 f/2.8. The 2 stop advantage has allowed me to get shots handheld that I simply couldn't do with the f/2.8. While the lens continues to get sharper as you approach f/5.6, its more than sharp enough wide open at f/1.4. At f/1.4 there is a slight loss of contrast but that's easily corrected in photoshop. I should have gotten this lens long ago.

Pros: Sharp Great low light performance Light weight Great price

Cons: Its a prime, doesn't zoom

Lives up to its reputation as a sharp, professional quality lens. I wanted this prime for maximum resolution at this focal length, and for available light photography. Does the job in spades.

This len takes very sharp pictures from f/2.8 to f/8 . Photos taken with this len has a very natural look and colors. Great upgrade from my older 50mm f/1.4D.

Pros: Very sharp, light and quiet. Pictures has a very natural look and colors. Sells at a bargain price.

Cons: Back focus slightly on the D7000, but can be corrected in camera.

I purchased the lens for street photography on a full frame camera and I am happy with the results I am getting.

Pros: very fast focus, light weight for all metal lens, low profile, perfect street lens

Cons: has a slight vignetting and edge distortion when adjusted in Lightroom 4
