Bought a set of Monarch 10x42 binocs in 2013, used as a viewing aid from our condo balcony on the rock St Thomas. LOVED THEM from the get go, very sharp, easy focus wheel, and a joy to use. Being waterproof, no worries, and left in a wall mounted mailbox in the shade for the 3 month winters we are here, then stored in their case in a dry closet the remainder of the year. LIGHTLY USED.....but 2 years ago, started noticing a bad degradation of the synthetic rubber coating over the entire set....used gorilla tape to hold it together in spots till this year. Just got them out, and the entire coating is sloughing off, leaving a oily goo behind. Stripped off all the coating, and the glasses are still usable, and I believe waterproof, just esthlettically ugly, and not as ergonomic to hold. I understand this can be an issue with all the brands, I just expected a longer duration in their durability.
Pros: Optics, weight, ergonomics
Cons: Synthetic rubber coating

First quality pair I've owned. Wife game them to me for Christmas in 2013. Took the place of a 50-year old no name brand with was pretty good, but the Nikon kicks them in the knees. Typical targets are 200 - 300 yards away and they do everything I'd want.
Pros: Very bright and sharp optics. Easy to focus. A true joy to use.
Cons: Lens caps don't stay on as well as I'd like. Center pivot barely makes the eye pieces wide enough for me

Beautiful, crisp images. This is my first pair of high-end binoculars and I love them.
Pros: Easy to focus, clear images. Solid feel in my hands, nice textured finish.

I like everything about the Monarch 5 binoculars except the lens covers do not stay on.
