Sadly frustrated

juan from Palm Harbor, FL on 8/28/2017

I bought this tripod to have a full size for the eclipse. Light and full size it is. It ruined my experience all together . After centering the sun exactly in camera's viewfinder the head would slowly slide down . I tried aiming and setting the sun above the viewfinders center , then adjust to let it then " fall" into place. A hazel. A headache. A huge frustration. A mistake to buy it. The next eclipse will find me under the grass. Please, dear reader, stay away from this , or buy one that you can touch and feel before you spend your money.

Pros: It is light . Height is exact

Cons: very unstable. Weak. Shakes. Inaccurate .

I opened up this Nikon tripod and was very impressed with how solidly it is built. I was also impressed with the number of adjustments that could be made to it, allowing me to get the exact position for the object I was trying to photograph. Overall, this is a great tripod for the price. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Pros: Excellent build quality, multiple options to adjust the tripod and reasonable priced.

Cons: I have not found one.

Customer Q&A

Q
Crutchfield asked: Why did you buy this?
A
To take photos at home of me and my family. [ Allen  Jul 18, 2019 ]
A
compatible to camera [ Perry  Sep 23, 2018 ]

I called and spoke to an agent and confirmed that it was the only recommended tripod that Crutchfield had in stock for the camera I purchased. Unfortunately, it says Nikon on it and I purchased a Canon camera. As long as it works good, I'm okay with that. [ ANDREW  Nov 19, 2016 ]

Q
Can you be more specific about the damage to this tripod?
[ GREGORY  Jul 19, 2016 ]

A
Thanks for your question. Anything listed in Scrach & Dent stock is going to be a very minor cosmetic flaw. I don't have anything more specific, but you'll still receive Crutchfield's 60 day satisfaction guarantee. Hope that helps.

Q
What is the weight capacity?
[ James  May 29, 2016 ]

Thanks for your question. Unfortunately the load capacity is not specified by the manufacturer. I did a web search and found one entry listing capacity of 26.5 lbs, but not sure how reliable the source is. You can reach out to Nikon at 8006456678 if you need further information.
