Quality Battery / No Surprises

I gave this product 4 stars because in reality, until someone has used a rechargeable battery for a number of discharge/recharge cycles (probably years), it's difficult providing a fair review. That said however, there are some noteworthy points about this particular battery that make it less of a gamble that those offered on the knockoff market. It's a genuine Nikon battery designed to operate a specific device. In my case, a D750. Due to the longevity of this camera and its continued market success (6+ yrs) , Nikon has chosen to evolve the battery as new advances in technology become available. This particular battery is on its 3rd generation. Obviously, Nikon is in for the long haul. The EL-15b is lithium-ion which means no memory effect. Knockoffs contain lithium as well; however, as an engineer, I'm aware that there are levels of purity verses contaminates in elements such as lithium, with the impurities having a direct effect on the usable life of a Li-ion battery. I've used Nikon batteries for several years in another camera and have never been disappointed by them. Yes, they're on the expensive side. But with this one, you know what you're getting.

Pros: Nikon quality. Should provide years of useful service.

Cons: A little pricey.

Expensive but worth it.

Have bought off brand batteries in the past and they work as promised for a period of time then don't hold a charge for long. Name brand batteries like Nikon hold there charge even when not being used. Yes they are expensive but you get what you pay for and you can pull this battery out of your camera bag one week or one month later and it still holds the charge and you don't have to charge it before placing it into the camera.

Buy OEM batteries

It's an OEM battery, so not much to say other than its not worth buying cheap batteries for quality cameras such as the Nikon Z series. The 420 or so savings isn't worth the potential damage to your camera.

Pros:

Cons: With every new model of this battery the cost keeps climbing.

Needed for Travel Photography

Luke from New York, NY on 3/3/2019

It last's a lot longer than an EN-EL15 or 15A. I recently purchased the Z6. I figured I could use my spare ENEL15 that I used with my D610 Body but it just didnt last as long as the 15B. So I purchased a spare with my Crutchfield points and can't be happier. Now I can shoot all day and not worry about batteries. Worth it for the travel photographer.

Pros: WIth two of these, you can shoot all day

Cons: A little pricey but its Nikon equipment
