Wow! What an upgrade! Worth every penny!
Robert from Mount Laurel, NJ on 5/27/2022
This turned out to be a very worthwhile upgrade to my vintage stereo equipment. Initally, I thought the price seemed like a lot to invest in a new cartridge; but as I considered it, I realized that in the general scheme of things, it isn't much at all...especially when compared to the investment in the rest of the components in the system, and the investment in the vinyl records themselves. After all, if I'm going to invest the time and effort to listen to vinyl recordings, then I might as well make the investment to actually hear the music that's recorded on them. I chose this cartridge and stylus after reviewing Crutchfield's research papers on turntables, cartridges, and styli. One of the things I learned from that research is that the stylus is one of the most important parts of the whole thing, and also the thing that contributes most to the cost. So there's really no point in cutting corners...in this case, you certainly get what you pay for. I installed the cartridge on my turntable the other day, and got out my Sennheiser headphones (which I purchased from Crutchfield 25 years ago!), and listened to a favorite album. The results are dramatic. I hear the nuances in the music that was completely missing before. I hear the individual instruments and the individual voices, and the subtile resonances. I couldn't be happier with the result.

Wow, there's so much to say about the Audio-Technica VM760SLC but I'm going to be straightforward and I will keep it simple. This is the best update I have done to my music system, it never sounded the way it does now(amazing). This cartridge is pure high fidelity...it will bring your favorite musicians to your living room.
Pros: Fidelity out of this world!
Cons: None.

Audio-Technica VM760SLC
Crutchfield customer from Lk Havasu Cty, AZ on 7/9/2021
I wanted to rediscover vinyl so I brought out an on old Sony TT that originally had a old AT88e cartridge, it actually didn't sound too bad. But I believe it's all about the stylus type so after considering multiple options I went with the VM760SLC. So far no complaints, it sounds fantastic on my system. Crisp low distortion highs and tight fast bass, it's a HUGE improvement over the old 88e cartridge. It also tracks flawlessly even with my old Sony TT, but I think it would better with a TT (tonearm) that was adjustable for all geometries - my next upgrade. Also seems to work very well with matched up with a Schiit mani preamp. Highly recommended!!
Pros: Obviously the stylus , it's just better...
Cons: Cost. But you get what you pay for.

Wow! I was using an old elliptical stylus, which was good back in the day, but this is like comparing two tin cans and some string to the modern phone. I could hear things on my albums that I had not heard before. Good things. Bass is deep and the mid to high frequency is clear without sounding "tinny". The sound is spacious, being able to picture the placement of the instruments on the stage. "Live" albums really come to life. Made my whole system sound better. No regrets on splurging for a great, long overdue upgrade. Bravo AT !

Neutral and detailed !
Jim from Lodi, CA on 7/8/2018
Excellent performance and value. I agree with the review in "The Absolute Sound" completely. Just remember it will only shine as bright as the weakest link in equipment chain. It will shame some high end kit. If you like MC, try the AT33ev (sa).
Pros: Balanced, neutral, detailed, excellent tracking. AT design and engineering has done a seriously good job.
Cons: What's not to like !

I purchased the Audio-Technica VM760SLC for my Dual 1219 to obtain a different sound from my Shure V15 Type III HE. The sound is terrific, brighter than the V15 which is great for certain music.

Excellent sound
PJ from San Antonio, TX on 6/27/2017
I was hesitant to purchase due to cost and had buyers remorse as soon as I submitted my order. I even told myself that I was going to return it after I received it because I was positive I would not notice an almost $400.0 cost difference compared to my AT150MLX but boy was I wrong. Not only did I notice the difference but I almost immediately disowned all my other cartridges. Its like the AT440MLA had a baby with the AT120E and that baby married the AT150MLX thus giving birth to the VM760SLC. Extremely wide sound stage, well defined mids, crisp clear highs (not bright at all), deep will pronounced bass. I've thrown everything at this cartridge from hard rock, heavy metal, hip hop, dance, acoustic, jazz, classical, new to thrift store bought, looking for a flaw but have yet to find one. If you're interested in this cartridge but un sure. I highly recommend buying it. You won't be disappointed.
